Eagles | Riley Cooper underwhelming so far

Tue, 23 Sep 2014 16:07:56 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper leads all wide receivers in routes run, according to Cecil Lammey of ESPN Denver, but has totaled just nine catches for 71 yards.

Fantasy Tip: It's been all Jeremy Maclin as far as Eagles' wide receivers are concerned. The bright side is that Cooper is getting a ton of playing time, which is bound to increase his production eventually.

Eagles | Riley Cooper's role decreasing?

Sat, 20 Sep 2014 18:41:23 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper has five catches for 37 yards and no scores in two games this season despite Chip Kelly's offense creating one-on-one opportunities on the outside by drawing the safeties toward the middle of the field.

Fantasy Tip: While Cooper has been nonexistent, Jeremy Maclin has 21 targets in two games and has scored a touchdown in both. Maclin appears to have stepped into the role occupied by DeSean Jackson last year, and with a $6,200 salary (12.4% of cap) at FantasyScore, Maclin offers plenty of upside in Week 3 against a Washington defense that has yet to be tested by a legit passing attack.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 5, and is probable for Week 1.

Eagles | Riley Cooper practices again

Thu, 04 Sep 2014 13:12:00 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper has been battling injuries for much of training camp and the preseason, but he should be ready to suit up in Week 1. With a price of $4,900 in FantasyScore, he's a nice under-the-radar option as maybe a flex against the poor Jacksonville Jaguars defense.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Cooper should be able to play in the opener despite his minor injury. Cooper should be considered as a No. 3 wide receiver or flex option in most leagues.

Eagles | Riley Cooper takes part in practice

Mon, 18 Aug 2014 10:38:00 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (ankle) participated in practice Monday, Aug. 18, for the second consecutive day. Cooper is expected to play in the third preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper has missed some time with the injury but appears to be ready to play and should be ready for the start of the season as long as he does not suffer a setback. Cooper probably has more value in non-point-per-reception leagues and should be considered a No. 4 wide receiver in most leagues.

Eagles | Riley Cooper practicing

Mon, 18 Aug 2014 08:48:54 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (foot) is practicing again Monday, Aug. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper's rapport with Nick Foles last season vaulted him into WR3 status. Jeremy Maclin's return and the emergence of Zach Ertz may temper his targets a bit, though.

Tue, 05 Aug 2014 15:44:06 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (foot) continues to wear a boot on his right foot, and he hasn't practiced in over a week.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper should be fine for the regular season, but he's losing valuable practice repetitions in training camp. That leaves the door open for Jeremy Maclin and others to gain more chemistry with Nick Foles.

Eagles | Offseason offensive work looks fast

Fri, 30 May 2014 06:33:55 -0700

The Philadelphia Eagles' organized team activities have displayed their intent to move a lot faster and increase the amount of plays run, in the observation of Nick Fierro. They were quick in moving to the line of scrimmage even before the whistle blew. "We're just running as many reps as we can so we can get it on tape and teach them," head coach Chip Kelly said. "... What we're trying to do is, can we get a maximum number of reps for everybody, because we do have three and four groups, both offensively and defensively? Let's just get a lot of stuff on tape so we can teach off it."

Fantasy Tip: Of course, such an overwhelming pace allowed the offense to dominate last year before they fell apart, for numerous reasons. Of course LeSean McCoy should have another elite year, but the other fantasy-relevant members of this offense in their second year with this system -- Nick Foles, Jeremy Maclin (despite his injury), Riley Cooper, Zach Ertz -- could be in line for huge steps forward with this continuity.

Eagles | Riley Cooper to have bigger role

Wed, 05 Mar 2014 18:12:30 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper is expected to have a larger part in the offense following the release of WR Jason Avant.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper still has a lot to prove to fantasy owners after his breakout season. While Avant is out of the way, DeSean Jackson and a healthy Jeremy Maclin are expected to be back, so Cooper will still be a WR4 or flex kind of fantasy option in 2014.

Thu, 27 Feb 2014 06:15:32 -0800

Updating a previous report, the Philadelphia Eagles re-signed free-agent WR Riley Cooper to a five-year, $25 million deal.

Eagles | Draft class determines future of WRs

Sat, 25 Jan 2014 18:10:27 -0800

The Philadelphia Eagles have exclusive rights to re-sign WRs Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin (knee) before March 11. The 2014 NFL Draft has a group of underclassmen who could make the 2014 NFL Draft the deepest at the receiver position in years, and that could affect how the club approaches re-signing Cooper and Maclin. However, a pool of coaches, executives, scouts and agents suggested the team is likely to retain both players unless they opt to test the market.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper was held out yesterday with his illness, but he seems to be good to go now. Cooper's monster Week 9 performance reminded fantasy owners that he's out there. Eagles | Riley Cooper losing PT

Thu, 10 Oct 2013 13:46:21 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper played 75 percent of the snaps and was targeted just once in the team's Week 5 win over the New York Giants. In the first four games, he had played 93 percent of the offensive snaps and averaged 4 1/2 targets and two catches. Cooper has eight grabs for 93 yards and a touchdown this year. Head coach Chip Kelly and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur have defended Cooper, but WR Jeff Maehl has seen his playing time go up recently. Maehl's snaps have gone from 12 to 20 in the last two weeks. Shurmur said Maehl is "more familiar" with the offensive game plan which "makes him be able to go in there and execute faster." The team plans to continue to increase the repetitions for Maehl, which will likely hurt Cooper.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper should have only been owned in very deep leagues as wide receiver depth. Maehl fits a very similar profile.
