Lions | Detroit not dropping passes

Tue, 09 Dec 2014 14:40:26 -0800

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford has completed three percent more of his passes this year than last year, and the team's reduction in dropped passes is likely the key. Last year, the Lions dropped 8.1 percent of passes. No Lions player has more than three drops on the year, with RB Joique Bell, TE Eric Ebron and WR Calvin Johnson with three drops each.

Lions | Probable status for Joique Bell

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 14:08:27 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 21, and is probable for Week 12 against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Bell costs $5,400 at FantasyScore, and the Patriots have allowed an average of 20.76 fantasy points to running backs, although their D has stiffened of late. Bell will be a safer play if Reggie Bush (ankle) sits out again.

Lions | Joique Bell, Reggie Bush limited

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 14:59:23 -0800

Detroit Lions RBs Joique Bell (ankle) and Reggie Bush (ankle) were both limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 20. Bell did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Both running backs are expected to play against the New England Patriots in Week 12. Bell ($5,400) should be the more trusted FantasyScore lineup option, though, and the Pats have allowed an average of 18.63 fantasy points to running backs. Bush costs slightly less than Bell at $5,200.

Lions | Joique Bell has ankle injury

Wed, 19 Nov 2014 13:45:11 -0800

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 19, due to an ankle injury. Bell left game briefly in Week 11 because of his injury.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($5,400) should be fine unless he suffers a setback this week. The New England Patriots, the Lions' Week 12 opponent, have allowed just over 20 fantasy points to running backs this year, which makes Bell appealing. However, the backfield picture could be cloudy if Reggie Bush (ankle) re-enters the fold.

Lions | Joique Bell sits Wednesday

Wed, 19 Nov 2014 12:38:45 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (undisclosed) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Bell's injury was not specified, assuming there is even an injury. Keep tabs on his status as the week goes on. Reggie Bush and Theo Riddick will be involved even if Bell plays.

Lions | Reggie Bush out Sunday

Sat, 15 Nov 2014 15:39:05 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) will be held out of the game Sunday, Nov. 16, in Week 11. RBs Joique Bell and Theo Riddick will split time in the backfield.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($4,900; 9.8% of your cap) and Riddick ($4,300; 8.6%) are both fairly priced flex options on FantasyScore this week against the New England Patriots.

Lions | Reggie Bush sees light work

Mon, 10 Nov 2014 07:34:52 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush played just 19 offensive snaps Sunday, Nov. 9, which was 28% of the offense. In contrast, RB Joique Bell played 67% of the snaps and RB Theo Riddick played 10% of the snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Bush had four carries for 20 yards and one reception for five yards in Week 10. Clearly, he has been banged up, but one has to wonder if this is also part of his inevitable decline at the age of 29. Avoid him on FantasyScore until he becomes more involved in the offense.

Lions | Joique Bell likely to carry load

Fri, 24 Oct 2014 19:10:18 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell is likely to see a lion's share of the carries in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: A source indicated Reggie Bush (ankle) is likely to be rested again, so Bell would be the top back. George Winn and Theo Riddick could also see carries, but Bell is the best option and he has great hands out of the backfield. In FantasyScore leagues, Bell is a steal at $4,700 (or 9.4 percent of the cap).

Lions | Calvin Johnson misses another practice

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 09:12:34 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) didn't practice for the sixth straight day Friday, Oct. 17. Head coach Jim Caldwell isn't ruling him out for Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints, but he also didn't make it sound like Johnson would play, either. Johnson said earlier this week that he sees no reason to rush back to the field until he's completely healthy. The team will lean heavily on WRs Golden Tate, Corey Fuller and Jeremy Ross, along with RBs Joique Bell and Reggie Bush if Johnson doesn't play again.

Fantasy Tip: It's highly unlikely that we see Megatron play against the Saints. Avoid him everywhere. Tate's price ($6,300; 12.6% of cap) has gone up with Johnson hobbled, but he could still return a profit against a weak New Orleans defense.

Lions | Reggie Bush likely out

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 07:13:43 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) is expected to miss the game Sunday, Oct. 12, in Week 6, according to a source. RB Theo Riddick is expected to have a significant role behind RB Joique Bell.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($4,900; 9.8% of your cap) has a mighty tasty price on FantasyScore this week. Riddick is a bare-minimum flier at $3,000 this week.

Lions | Joique Bell feeling great

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 11:44:29 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (concussion) is expected to return to action against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6. Bell said that his legs "feel really fresh" and that he is feeling "100 percent all around."

Fantasy Tip: Bell sounds as if he'll play in Week 6. At a cost of only $4,900 (9.8% of cap), Bell is a very intriguing option at FantasyScore this weekend, especially if both Reggie Bush (ankle) and Calvin Johnson (ankle) don't play, as expected.

Lions | Reggie Bush out again

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 09:46:00 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) missed his third practice of the week Friday, Oct. 10. If he can't play in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings, RBs Joique Bell and Theo Riddick will likely see more carries.

Fantasy Tip: Look to avoid Bush at FantasyScore at his price of $6,400 (12.8% of cap). Bell was cleared from his concussion earlier in the week and has been practicing in full all week. With an increased workload, Bell could be a sneaky play against the Vikings. He costs just $4,900 (9.8% of cap).

Lions | Joique Bell a full participant

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 14:36:40 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (concussion) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Now that Bell has been cleared to practice in full, it seems as though he has a solid chance to play against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6. With Reggie Bush (ankle) banged up, Bell could see plenty of playing time this weekend.

Lions | Joique Bell returns to practice

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 14:29:54 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (concussion) returned to practice Wednesday, Oct. 8, for the first time since suffering a concussion in Week 4. He practiced in full.

Fantasy Tip: This is a great sign that Bell will return in Week 6 to face the Minnesota Vikings. With Reggie Bush (ankle) questionable to play, Bell could be in for a big workload, especially in the passing game if Calvin Johnson (ankle) can't play, either.

Lions | Joique Bell feeling better

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 15:07:12 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (concussion) said he is feeling normal but needs medical clearance before playing in a game. He said he hopes to be able to play in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor his practice participation this week to get a better feel for his status for Week 6. Bell should have his normal role on offense if he is able to play and could be used as a flex option in leagues.

Lions | Joique Bell ruled out

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 13:17:15 -0700

Updating previous reports, Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (concussion) did not practice for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 3, and has officially been ruled out for Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Now that we know for sure that Bell won't play, look to put Reggie Bush ($6,400; 12.8% of cap) into your FantasyScore lineups. Bush could produce with the lion's share of the touches against the Bills.

Lions | Joique Bell cleared for activity

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 10:31:45 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (concussion) has been cleared for physical activity, according to a team spokesman. However, it's still unclear if Bell will play in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills after not practicing all week. Bell was only running on the side during practice Friday, Oct. 3. Bell leads the team with 48 carries and 152 rushing yards, and he also has nine catches for 73 yards. RB Reggie Bush will likely have a larger workload if Bell can't play.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is obviously an extremely risky option for any of your FantasyScore lineups. Look elsewhere, and consider going with Reggie Bush if Bell doesn't suit up.

Lions | Joique Bell sits out again

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 10:31:15 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (concussion) missed his third straight practice of the week Friday, Oct. 3, although he was back on the field for the first time since suffering a concussion in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: That all but assures that Bell won't be available in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills. That means that Reggie Bush will become a fine FantasyScore play this weekend for $6,400 (12.8% of cap).

Comment (0) | Share: Tweet!Share on Facebook | Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein

Lions | Joique Bell not cleared yet

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 10:58:38 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (concussion) has not yet been cleared after suffering a concussion in Week 4. Bell has 48 carries for 152 yards and a touchdown this year, and he's also added nine catches for 73 yards. More carries would be given to RB Reggie Bush against the Buffalo Bills if Bell isn't able to play this weekend. RB Theo Riddick (hamstring) said he's fine and will play this week.

Fantasy Tip: Bell obviously isn't a safe addition to your FantasyScore lineups this week, but keep an eye on his progress for the rest of the week. If Bell doesn't look like he'll play, Bush ($6,400) has a shot to return nice value.

Lions | Joique Bell does not practice

Wed, 01 Oct 2014 13:10:38 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to wait to see if he is able to practice later in the week and play in Week 5. Reggie Bush could receive more work if Bell is not able to play and could be a good starting option at $6,600 on FantasyScore.

Lions | Joique Bell likely has concussion

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 14:17:27 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (head) likely has a concussion, after leaving the Week 4 game against the Detroit Lions due to a head injury. He was taken to the locker room for evaluation and never was able to return. The team did not provide an update after the game, but they would not let him speak to the media after the game, which follows concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: There will likely be more updates available shortly. The team also lost Montell Owens and Theo Riddick to hamstring injuries, so it Reggie Bush was used almost exclusively down the stretch.

Lions | Joique Bell injured

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 12:28:02 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (head) left the game early in Week 4 and is being evaluated for a head injury. He is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Bell may have a concussion, so owners will have to watch for an update on him after the game. Reggie Bush could have a bigger role in the offense if Bell misses some time.

Lions | Joique Bell back to full practice

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 14:19:58 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee) practiced in full Thursday, Sept. 25, after being limited Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Bell will play in Week 4 against the New York Jets. However, against a stout New York front, Bell may not be the safest play for his price ($6,100; 12.2% of cap) at FantasyScore.

Lions | Joique Bell a limited participant

Wed, 24 Sep 2014 13:41:45 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Bell had 15 carries for 33 yards rushing in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers. Against the Jets in Week 4, he may find it tough to find room to run again. You may want to search for better options at FantasyScore this weekend.

Lions | Plan to use Reggie Bush more

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 14:49:55 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush has seen RB Joique Bell take more carries over the first two games of the season, but Bush is remaining patient as the team ranks 28th in the league in rushing yards (146) and 29th in yards per carry (3.04). Offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi is staying patient, too, as the running game was taken away in Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers when they fell behind.

Lombardi said part of the plan is getting Bush more involved, and he would have had more touches against Carolina if they hadn't fallen behind. Bush has 10 fewer carries than Bell and has one more catch than Bell. Bush has just 2.7 yards per attempt on 15 carries this year, and Lombardi wants to see both totals increase. However, he also wants to make sure not to overuse Bush. The Lions envision using Bush in a designated tight end spot or close to the line as a receiver so that they can get him out in space.

Fantasy Tip: Bush will likely be overlooked by many at FantasyScore this weekend because of his limited production through two games. That is the kind of opening you may want to exploit against the Green Bay Packers, a team that should give Bush plenty of room to run and catch. He'll cost you $6,900.

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 14:32:56 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee) was limited in practice all week and is listed as probable for Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is a solid choice for your FantasyScore lineup against the Green Bay Packers defense this weekend. He'll cost you $6,100 (12.2% of salary cap).

Lions | Joique Bell limited

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 13:59:38 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is still expected to play and is priced at $6,100 on FantasyScore. He probably has more value in point-per-reception leagues in what could be a shootout against the Green Bay Packers.

Lions | Joique Bell leads RBs in touches

Sun, 14 Sep 2014 19:26:40 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell had team-highs with 10 carries and 36 yards in the Week 2 game against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Bell led the team's running backs with 16 touches, while Reggie Bush had eight touches, FB Jed Collins had two (and a touchdown catch) and Theo Riddick had one. It appears the team is trying to limit the wear and tear on Bush's body, and Bell is the biggest beneficiary of that caution.

Lions | Reggie Bush had ice on knee

Wed, 10 Sep 2014 09:52:35 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) was seen hobbling through the locker room with a bag of ice on his knee.

Fantasy Tip: This doesn't necessarily mean he's in jeopardy of missing time, but keep an eye on it heading into Week 2. At $6,500 against the Carolina Panthers, his FantasyScore price may not be worth it if he's fighting a significant injury. Joique Bell ($4,200) would get a boost if Bush can't play.

Lions | Joique Bell sitting

Fri, 08 Aug 2014 06:59:54 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell is out of practice Friday, Aug. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Bell (knee) has been slowed by a knee injury in camp, but it's unknown if this was a simple day of rest or if his absence is pertaining to his knee. Bell is a solid RB3 and showcased RB2 potential last season in PPR leagues.

Lions | Joique Bell appears agile

Wed, 30 Jul 2014 19:19:21 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee) missed organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp while recovering from a knee injury, but he looked good cutting and accelerating with ease during team portions of practice Wednesday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: A healthy Bell appears to be slotted behind starter Reggie Bush for the primary job, so he should get his fair share of touches. He is a decent low-end RB2 or flex option, especially in leagues which reward points per reception (PPR). Bell needs to stay healthy to hold off a charge from sleeper Theo Riddick and holdover Mikel Leshoure, among others.

Lions | Mikel Leshourse expected to compete

Wed, 23 Jul 2014 19:18:56 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Mikel Leshoure is currently believed to be the fourth tailback on the club behind RBs Reggie Bush, Joique Bell and Theo Riddick heading into training camp and the preseason, but general manager Martin Mayhew expects Leshoure to compete for snaps. The team will use an offense similar to the New Orleans Saints, and they occasionally used a fourth tailback.

Fantasy Tip: Leshoure has tumbled down the depth chart due to a rash of his own injuries, and the production of others while he was off the field. He appears to be in the plans still, but ever so slightly. From a fantasy perspective, he should be avoided on draft day unless injuries to others dramatically alter things during training camp and the preseason.

Lions | Joique Bell expects to be ready

Wed, 23 Jul 2014 19:17:08 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee) missed most of the offseason due to a knee injury, although he has said his condition is minor and he expects to be ready for the start of training camp next week.

Fantasy Tip: Bell gives the team one of the best 1-2 punches in the league with Reggie Bush. The duo became the first teammates in franchise history to join the 500/500 (rushing yards) club in the same season. Bell is a worth a look as a low-end RB2 flex fantasy option in most formats, with slightly more value in leagues which reward points per reception (PPR).

Lions | Joique Bell back to full strength

Tue, 08 Jul 2014 12:21:09 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee) said he is back to running at full speed and is feeling fully healthy. "I'm making a lot of progress, a lot of progress," Bell said. "Actually started back running full speed, got cleared for full go probably two weeks, a week after minicamp. I'm feeling 100%. I'm feeling great."

Fantasy Tip: This is great news for Bell as all signs now point for him to be ready for the start of training camp. Bell is a low-end RB2 in standard leagues.

Lions | Joique Bell may be out until training camp

Thu, 29 May 2014 12:19:14 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee) said he should be ready for training camp in late July. Bell hasn't participated in any of the team's organized team activities thus far.

Fantasy Tip: Bell really broke out as Reggie Bush’s “handcuff” last season. When healthy, Bell has top-20 running back potential, especially if he repeats his role as touchdown vulture. Keep tabs on Bell throughout the off season, but if he’s good to go for the start of the season, he is a low-end RB2 option in standard leagues.

Lions | Joique Bell not concerned with injury

Thu, 22 May 2014 09:26:11 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee) didn't work out during organized team activities Wednesday, May 21, but he said he's not very concerned that it's a long-term injury. Bell was seen with "just an ice wrap" on his left knee Wednesday. He won't say whether he had the knee drained. "Just (a) nagging injury," Bell said. "Something just nagging, nothing that will prevent me (from playing). I had it all last season, so you guys didn't even really notice. But it's something we just trying to get rid of before next season. So it's just being smart."

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't affect Bell's fantasy value heading into the 2014 season unless the injury lingers through the summer.

Lions | RB playing time expected to stay same

Wed, 16 Apr 2014 11:08:17 -0700

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said RBs Reggie Bush and Joique Bell likely will receive similar workloads this upcoming season than they did during the 2013 season. Bush played 54 percent of the offensive snaps in 2013 while Bell participated in 49 percent of the snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Bush and Bell likely will be offensive factors in 2014 as long as they are able to stay healthy. Both could be considered No. 2 or No. 3 running backs for owners this upcoming season based on the matchup.

Lions | Reggie Bush to see smaller load

Thu, 10 Apr 2014 07:33:29 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said he is fine with a potentially smaller workload in 2014. RB Joique Bell is expected to cut into Bush's workload more this season.

Fantasy Tip: Bush's value could begin to plummet this season at the age of 29. He still remains a good RB2 in PPR leagues, but Bell is starting to emerge. He's a good RB3 with potential for more.
