NFL | Multiple teams interested in Joique Bell

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 07:36:15 -0700

Free-agent RB Joique Bell (Lions) said he has received contract offers from three NFL teams this offseason and believes at least two of those proposals are still on the table.

Fantasy Tip: Bell, who turns 30 in August, has been connected to the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots in the last few months. He isn't likely to be much of a fantasy factor in 2016 due to declining production and recent injury history.

Bills | Joique Bell pays Buffalo a visit

Tue, 15 Mar 2016 23:14:49 -0700

Free-agent RB Joique Bell (Lions) visited the Buffalo Bills Tuesday, March 15, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Bell might be a nice addition for Buffalo if he agrees to terms. He has good hands out of the backfield, and is a solid play for those in fantasy leagues which reward points per reception (PPR).

Patriots | New England fixed on upgrading backfield

Sun, 28 Feb 2016 13:21:31 -0800

Impending free-agent RBs Chris Ivory (Jets), Matt Forte (Bears), Alfred Morris (Redskins) and Joique Bell (Lions) are among the veterans on the radar of the New England Patriots, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots would do well to upgrade from LeGarrette Blount and each of the aforementioned names - outside of Bell - would provide that. Ivory is perhaps the most intriguing option in that he is an early-down thumper that would be a great complement to dynamic passing-down back Dion Lewis. If Ivory joins New England, he could be a solid RB2 option in most leagues.

Lions | Joique Bell turned down pay cut

Sun, 21 Feb 2016 18:11:29 -0800

Free-agent RB Joique Bell (Lions) declined a pay cut that would have allowed him to remain with the Detroit Lions in 2016. "The Lions made me an offer," Bell said Saturday, Feb. 20. "I thought I did what was best for my career. I ended up declining the offer."

Fantasy Tip: Bell could catch on with another team, but given his recent health issues and declining production, he isn't likely to be relevant in fantasy leagues.

Lions | Joique Bell cut

Tue, 16 Feb 2016 14:25:00 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell was released Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Bell had fallen out of favor thanks to the excellent season by Theo Riddick, mainly in a pass-catching role out of the backfield. Detroit figures to use Ameer Abdullah as their main running back in 2016, but Riddick will now have a larger role and will command a lot of attention from fantasy owners, especially in point-per-reception leagues.

Lions | Joique Bell could be cut

Tue, 16 Feb 2016 11:35:17 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell is in the second year of a three-year, $9.3 million deal and is slated to earn $2.5 million in base salary in 2016 and count $3.5 million against the salary cap. Detroit would save $2.5 million by releasing him, and it's a real possibility given the fact that Bell is about to turn 30 years old and has struggled to stay healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Bell only had 90 carries for 311 yards (3.5 yards per carry) and four touchdowns for the Lions in 2015. Ameer Abdullah will be the primary back next year, and Theo Riddick's emergence as the pass-catching option leaves little room for Bell to produce. If he stays in Detroit, he's likely to see his role decrease further.

Lions | Theo Riddick could have bigger role

Tue, 16 Feb 2016 11:34:02 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick, who led all running backs in catches last year after starting fourth on Detroit's depth chart, could be in line for a much bigger role in 2016. Riddick played most of the year behind RBs Joique Bell and Ameer Abdullah, too. Former NFL RB Marshall Faulk indicated Bell likely played more because he was being paid more. Riddick will likely be headed toward a bigger role next year regardless of what happens with Bell's contract.

Fantasy Tip: Riddick will look very intriguing as Detroit's second back if they decide to cut Bell this offseason. But either way, Riddick has tons of potential and value, especially in point-per-reception formats in Jim Bob Cooter's offense.

Lions | Joique Bell feeling good into offseason

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 19:14:42 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell said Monday, Jan. 25, that he is primed for a rebound in 2016, as he feels healthier entering the offseason than he has in year. "Going into my third year, I had a pretty good season. I feel probably just as good now as I felt then. So I really have an offseason when I can train the way I want to train and get after it," Bell said.

Fantasy Tip: Bell managed just 311 yards on 90 carries, losing his starting job to rookie Ameer Abdullah midway through the season. Abdullah is back, and Theo Riddick emerged as a dependable pass catcher out of the backfield, so while Bell might be 100 percent heading into 2016, he will have some stiff competition for touches, not to mention Zach Zenner will also be back in the mix.

Lions | Joique Bell finds end zone

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 22:47:51 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell carried eight times for 71 yards and a touchdown in the Week 15 game against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Dec. 21. He also hauled in two receptions for 30 yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Bell was the trusted option down the stretch after splitting carries with Ameer Abdullah earlier in the game. He remains a solid FantasyScore option because of his hands out of the backfield.

Lions | Joique Bell outgains Ameer Abdullah

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 18:25:11 -0800

Detroit Lions RBs Joique Bell and Ameer Abdullah each had seven carries in the Week 14 against the St. Louis Rams. Bell posted 50 rushing yards with two grabs for 25 yards while the rookie Abdullah ran for just 23 yards while hauling in two balls for 21 yards.

Fantasy Tip: When deciding between the Detroit RBs, Bell has the most fantasy appeal. However, both are solid pass catchers out of the backfield and could easily have big games against a terrible New Orleans Saints pass defense in Week 15.

Lions | Calvin Johnson, Joique Bell probable

Fri, 20 Nov 2015 14:56:48 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) and RB Joique Bell (shoulder) are both probable against the Oakland Raiders in Week 11. Johnson was limited in practice Friday, Nov. 20, while Bell practiced in full.

Fantasy Tip: Megatron ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) should be just fine and has a great opportunity against the weak Raiders corners. Stacking him with Matthew Stafford on FantasyScore is a fine strategy. Bell ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is part of a frustrating three-headed monster of a backfield, but this could be the week to use him as a sleeper against a top-10 fantasy matchup against the run.

Lions | Joique Bell practices in full

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 15:54:30 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) should be able to play against the Oakland Raiders in Week 11, but he has not produced much this season. Owners should be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

Lions | Joique Bell limited Wednesday

Wed, 18 Nov 2015 13:25:00 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has been an inconsistent fantasy option all year. With Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick also in the mix, Bell should not be started unless an injury occurs to fellow running backs.

Lions | Ameer Abdullah not in doghouse

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 11:46:52 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah's diminished role in recent weeks has been a product of game situations and not because of the fumbling problems that he's had in his rookie season. "Every game's a little different, and I think some games you'll see him with the ball in his hands a little bit more, some games (you'll see) Joique Bell and Theo Riddick," head coach Jim Caldwell said. "I think you'll see them carry it some as well. So it just kind of depends on the ball game as to how we approach it." Abdullah had a season-low five snaps in the Week 8 game against the Kansas City Chiefs and finished with one carry for only three yards. He has only 201 yards and four fumbles since his 24-yard touchdown run on his first carry in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Abdullah ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) still has heaps of potential and carries the most upside out of the Detroit running backs. However, it's been a struggle on a bad team that often falls behind early, and he has to deal with Bell and Riddick, too. Abdullah's role is expected to increase, but until we see proof, it's too hard to rely on him at FantasyScore.

Lions | Three Detroit regulars probable

Fri, 30 Oct 2015 13:19:29 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle), WR Calvin Johnson (non-injury) and QB Matthew Stafford (quadriceps) all practiced in full Friday, Oct. 30, and are probable for Week 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs in London.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) and Stafford ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) should be a popular stack on FantasyScore against a woeful Chiefs passing defense this weekend. Bell ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) has become an unreliable fantasy weapon and may find it tough to see notable touches in this three-headed monster of a backfield.

Lions | Joique Bell limited Thursday

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 14:41:18 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) was a full go yesterday, so this could indicate that he had a setback in practice Thursday. Stay tuned. Bell has been dealing with nagging injuries all year and has been overshadowed by both Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick in the backfield. He's very hard to rely on in both daily and traditional fantasy formats right now.

Lions | Joique Bell a full participant

Wed, 28 Oct 2015 15:39:31 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) had only three carries for 21 yards in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings last week. He's become an increasingly frustrating fantasy commodity in a disappointing backfield. Bell could very well be the third-best rushing option for Detroit these days, making him a low-end running back option on FantasyScore.

Lions | Joique Bell, Theo Riddick probable

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 13:57:30 -0700

Detroit Lions RBs Joique Bell (ankle) and Theo Riddick (groin) are both listed as probable for Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings. Riddick was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 23, while Bell practiced in full.

Fantasy Tip: Having Bell ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) back in the picture with Ameer Abdullah and Riddick ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) complicates matters for fantasy owners looking to start any of this trio. The Vikes aren't shabby against running backs this year, either. This is probably a situation to avoid entirely in fantasy circles, but Riddick has more upside in PPR formats like FantasyScore.

Lions | Joique Bell practicing Friday

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 08:36:10 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) is practicing Friday, Oct. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) has been a shell of himself dealing with an ankle injury all year. He's not a good option on FantasyScore against the Minnesota Vikings.

Lions | Joique Bell to see 10 touches?

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 18:26:47 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) is expected to return against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7, and team writer Tim Twentyman expects Bell to receive somewhere in the range of 10 carries.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is a risky option in his first game back, but since he is likely handling a chunk of the carries, Ameer Abdullah ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) also becomes a risky play at FantasyScore.

Lions | Two Detroit RBs limited

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 14:22:24 -0700

Detroit Lions RBs Joique Bell (ankle) and Theo Riddick (groin) were limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) was actually downgraded from yesterday, so he'll really need to be monitored as game day nears. Riddick has been a PPR stud all year and is worth a look on FantasyScore at $4,800 (9.6% of cap), especially if Bell is ruled out.

Lions | Joique Bell practices in full

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 13:14:48 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) appears to be on track to play in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings but will be sharing work with Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick. Bell could receive a majority of the carries but probably is not the best option for owners to use.

Lions | Joique Bell ruled out

Sun, 18 Oct 2015 09:28:36 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) has been declared inactive for the Week 6 game against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Ameer Abdullah ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) and Theo Riddick ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) probably will see a majority of playing time at running back, but Zach Zenner ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should also receive some carries. Zenner could be a flex option in deeper leagues, while Abullah and Riddick could be options in point-per-reception leagues.

Lions | Joique Bell, Theo Riddick questionable

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 13:38:09 -0700

Detroit Lions RBs Joique Bell (ankle) and Theo Riddick (groin) are both questionable for Week 6 against the Chicago Bears. Bell practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 16, while Riddick was held out Friday. Riddick suffered his groin injury in practice this week. RBs Ameer Abdullah and Zach Zenner would be heavily relied on if both Bell and Riddick are held out.

Fantasy Tip: Because Bell ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) practiced all week, he seems to have the better chance of playing over Riddick ($3,900, 7.8% of cap). If both are active, this will probably be a tough backfield to predict against the Bears.

Lions | Joique Bell a full participant

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 14:55:43 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Bell ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is on his way to returning in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears after sitting out last weekend. However, he has a disappointing 22 total yards on the ground on 20 attempts this year and has lost some luster in the passing game to Theo Riddick. Bell is a weak FantasyScore pick.

Lions | Joique Bell practices in full

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 13:47:18 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) has missed the last few weeks because of his injury but appears to have a good chance to play in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears. Bell's offensive role is not known at this point, so owners may want to wait a week before considering him as an option.

Lions | Joique Bell will return to practice

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 15:24:40 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) said he will participate in practice this week and hopes to be able to play in the Week 6 game against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has missed the last two games because of injuries, but his practice participation will determine his status for Week 6. Bell likely would receive some carries if he is active but is not the best option for owners.

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 11:49:47 -0700

Lions | Joique Bell, Eric Ebron ruled out

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 14:21:05 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) and TE Eric Ebron (knee) both missed practice Friday, Oct. 9, and have been ruled out for Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Abdullah ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should yet again see the lion's share of touches in the backfield, but he's facing tough Cards defense and is a midrange running back pick. Brandon Pettigrew ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Tim Wright ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) should fill in at tight end with Ebron out, but neither are attractive sleeper picks on FantasyScore.

Lions | Joique Bell had surgery in offseason

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 11:14:27 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) disclosed that he had surgery on his ankle in March and is suffering from some lingering pain from it. Bell said he has played through pain this season. "I'm close," Bell said. "Wanted to go this week, but they wanted to rest me one more week. We'll see. Coach's call."

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) sounds like he'll sit out this week. Ameer Abdullah ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is at a good price on FantasyScore, but his offensive line has been shaky. The Arizona Cardinals might not be the best matchup for him.

Lions | Joique Bell out again

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 14:14:08 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 8, and is unlikely to play in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is way too big of a risk to use on FantasyScore this week. Ameer Abdullah ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should yet again see the majority of work in the backfield, but the matchup against the Cardinals is another tough one for him. Look to fade him in daily formats as the Detroit offense continues to struggle.

Lions | Joique Bell doesn't practice

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 13:22:31 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Lions | Joique Bell out for Week 4

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 16:48:17 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) is out for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Ameer Abdullah ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) faces a tough Seattle Seahawks defense but is worth consideration for your flex on FantasyScore.

Lions | Zach Zenner could play more

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 11:46:27 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner could be in for a bigger role Monday, Oct. 5, against the Seattle Seahawks with RB Joique Bell (ankle) suffering from an ankle injury. Bell did not practice Saturday, Oct. 3, and could miss the Lions' Week 4 outing. Head coach Jim Caldwell gave Zenner a vote of confidence, saying if Zenner does play, he won't have any problem knowing what he's doing.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has sputtered, to say the least, to start the season. Put the ankle injury on top of that, and Zenner ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) could be in for a decent amount of playing time. That being said, he's still not a great start in seasonal or daily leagues.

Lions | Joique Bell remains out

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 09:58:12 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) is not participating during the media-access portion of practice Saturday, Oct. 3.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Bell ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) may be inactive for the Week 4 game against the Seattle Seahawks, so owners should look for other options. Ameer Abdullah ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) and Theo Riddick ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) likely would see more playing time if Bell misses the game. They will be facing a tough Seahawks defense, but Abdullah would have more fantasy value and could be a solid starting option despite the matchup.

Lions | Joique Bell sits out again

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 13:43:02 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) did not practice again Friday, Oct. 2, and is in danger of missing Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks Monday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) will probably be questionable and could be a game-time decision. Because the game is on Monday, that basically rules him out as a sound choice on FantasyScore or any other league. Ameer Abdullah ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is lined up to see even more work if Bell doesn't play, but against a stout Seahawks unit on the road, he's not very attractive, either.

Lions | Joique Bell misses practice

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 14:46:26 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) missed practice with an ankle injury Thursday, Oct. 1, and DetroitLions.com's Tim Twentyman hinted that that could mean more usage of RB Ameer Abdullah in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) scored a touchdown last week, but he was unlikely to be a strong pick on FantasyScore this Monday night on the road against the tough Seattle Seahawks defense. The injury adds even more shakiness to his profile. Abdullah ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is more intriguing because of his ability to catch passes out of the backfield in the event Detroit needs to play catchup. However, you may want to avoid all of Detroit's offense in daily games.

Lions | Joique Bell struggling early

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 12:44:39 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell has not been the running back he was in the past, but head coach Jim Caldwell said he believes he will able to return to that level of play. Bell is averaging only 1.1 yards per carry during the first three games of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is trying to come back from an Achilles' tendon injury and a knee injury, so he has not been able to produce like he did over the last few seasons. Owners probably should avoid using Bell in their lineup until he finds more success.

Lions | Joique Bell struggles against Denver

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 02:03:56 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell had 10 carries for six yards and one catch for a loss of two yards in a 24-12 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: The only silver lining was that Bell ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) led the team in carries, and to be fair, none of Detroit's backs ran the ball effectively against Denver. That being said, Bell has done little in the passing game and has just 20 carries through three games. If you want to take a chance on a Detroit back at FantasyScore going forward, Ameer Abdullah ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) looks like the best bet.

Lions | Joique Bell does little in Week 2

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 18:39:25 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell had four carries for two yards and two catches for 16 yards in a 26-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: To be fair, none of Detroit's running backs did much damage, but Bell's ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) minimal role Sunday is cause for concern. He should probably be avoided at FantasyScore in Week 3.

Lions | Ameer Abdullah plays more

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 07:22:06 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (21) played more snaps than RB Joique Bell (18) and RB Theo Riddick (8) in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Abdullah ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) had seven rushes for 50 yards and four catches for 44 yards in the game. The fact that Abdullah played more than Bell is a bit moot because the team plans to use the hot hand in the committee. Bell ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) could be the leader as a midrange option on FantasyScore next week against the Minnesota Vikings.

Lions | Joique Bell to carry the load in Week 1?

Thu, 10 Sep 2015 18:32:00 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell will likely receive the most carries in Week 1 against the San Diego Chargers while RB Ameer Abdullah will be used as a change-of-pace back, according to Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com.

Fantasy Tip: The Chargers had the 26th-ranked run defense last year, and while his upside is capped by Abdullah, Bell ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) could still make a solid source of cap relief at FantasyScore.

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 14:09:21 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee, Achilles') was a limited participant in practice and took repetitions with the first-team offense Monday, Aug. 31, after being activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has had his fair of injuries this offseason, and throughout his career. As long as he's on the field, however, he's worth a look as a RB2. His ceiling is stinted because of Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick, however.

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 11:38:08 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee, Achilles') was activated from the Phyiscally Unable to Perform list Monday, Aug. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has been making his way back all offseason. It looks like he's finally ready for regular season action. The trick for Bell will be staying on the field. Behind him are a slew of promising runners that include Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick and Zach Zenner. Even in a crowded backfield, Bell is worth RB2 consideration.

Lions | Joique Bell progressing nicely

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 06:46:27 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee, Achilles') has ramped up his return-to-play workouts in recent weeks and said he is "getting close." Head coach Jim Caldwell said Bell looks in good shape and hinted the running back will be ready for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Bell appears on track to be ready for Week 1, but whether he will be utilized without restrictions is unknown. While he is the likely starter and elder statesmen in a projected committee with Ameer Abdullah and Theo Reddick, there is a chance Bell is somewhat eased back into the mix due to his limitations in camp and lengthy rehab during the offseason. Bell is a fringe No. 2 running back in standard leagues, and Abdullah is a worthy RB3 with upside in PPR formats. Reddick is nothing more than a late-round flier in deep leagues.

Lions | Joique Bell sitting out

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 15:38:46 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee, Achilles') will not play in the third preseason game Friday, Aug. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is still not ready to play in a game, so owners should continue to monitor his progress to see if he will be ready for the regular season. Bell probably will receive a majority of the carries but will split playing time with Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick. Bell could be a middle-round option in most fantasy leagues.

Lions | Detroit will use committee at RB

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 12:53:48 -0700

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford said the Lions will still take a committee approach at running back even when Joique Bell (knee, Achilles') returns.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Jim Caldwell recently said he expects to come back as a bellcow running back, so we may have to wait until the regular starts to see how much Bell and Ameer Abdullah are used. If Bell stays healthy, he has RB2 upside. Abdullah is a speculative RB3 with RB2 potential in PPR leagues.

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 12:01:14 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (knee, Achilles') is expected to return this season as a bellcow running back, according to head coach Jim Caldwell. Bell has been nursing injuries all offseason, but Caldwell still envisions him producing similarly to how he did last year.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has rushed for 15 combined touchdowns the last two seasons. Ameer Abdullah, and even Theo Riddick, will cut into his playing time this year, but he still has RB2 potential if he can get healthy and stay healthy.
