Mariners | James Paxton to long toss

Tue, 03 Mar 2015 07:45:08 -0800

Seattle Mariners SP James Paxton (forearm) will play long toss Tuesday, March 3, and said he felt fantastic after playing catch the previous day.

Fantasy Tip: Paxton is one of the brightest prospects in baseball, and all indications are that he'll be ready for the season. The lefty is worth a flyer late in your mixed league drafts.

Mariners | James Paxton tests forearm

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 13:49:44 -0800

Seattle Mariners SP James Paxton (forearm) played catch Monday, March 2, and is targeting his first spring bullpen session for Friday, March 6. "I'm ready to get rolling here and get ready for the season," Paxton said. "I feel confident that I'll have plenty of time to get myself ready for those (regular-season) games in April." The Mariners typically require pitchers to throw two bullpens and then throw two rounds of live batting practice before getting into a spring game.

Fantasy Tip: Paxton is on pace to be able to be ready for the start of the regular season if he can avoid any setbacks with his forearm. Keep an eye on him this spring and consider him a late-round flier in deep mixed leagues to fill out your fantasy rotation.

Mariners | James Paxton progressing

Thu, 26 Feb 2015 14:54:42 -0800

Seattle Mariners SP James Paxton (forearm) is "progressing fine" from a bruised left forearm, according to manager Lloyd McClendon.

Fantasy Tip: Paxton went 6-4 with a 3.04 ERA in 13 starts for the M's in 2014. His freak injury early in spring isn't believed to be serious, so we expect him to be a part of Seattle's rotation to start the season. Consider the 26-year-old a fringe player in deep mixed leagues.

Mariners | James Paxton to throw next week

Tue, 24 Feb 2015 09:38:06 -0800

Seattle Mariners SP James Paxton (wrists) will resume throwing early next week, and he will take part in fielding drills Tuesday, Feb. 24. Manager Lloyd McClendon said Paxton threw five or six bullpen sessions before reporting to camp, so he should be fine.

Fantasy Tip: Everything should be good to go for Paxton after suffering a freak injury early in camp. If he doesn't have any setbacks next week, expect him to be ready for opening day. Paxton is a player worth considering in the late rounds of deep mixed leagues.

Mariners | James Paxton has wrist strains

Mon, 23 Feb 2015 10:29:23 -0800

Seattle Mariners SP James Paxton (wrists) is being held out of workouts the last couple days with wrist strains that he suffered last week during agility drills, according to general manager Jack Zduriencik.

Fantasy Tip: Paxton's injury isn't believed to be serious, and we expect him to be ready for the start of the season, barring setbacks. Paxton is an up-and-coming young arm that will receive a rotation shot for the Mariners. He could be a nice value late in very deep mixed leagues.
