Cardinals | New Cardinals must earn spots

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 11:20:41 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson and TE Jermaine Gresham aren't guaranteed a roster spot, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham's main competition for the starting tight end job will probably be Darren Fells and Troy Niklas. Johnson will at least back up Andre Ellington, and could also back up rookie David Johnson. Of course, as Arians inferred, both must play well enough to earn their spots on the team. Until then, they are best left on waiver wires.

Cardinals | Jermaine Gresham activated

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 11:00:34 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Jermaine Gresham (back) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, Aug. 3. He is expected to be limited during his first few practices.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham is expected to compete for the starting tight end job during training camp and may have a good chance to win the job. Gresham has not had more than 460 yards in either of the last two seasons and is not a great fantasy option even if he wins the job.

Cardinals | Jermaine Gresham placed on PUP list

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 14:26:29 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Jermaine Gresham (back) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear if Gresham will be ready for the start of the regular season. His back gave him a lot of trouble this offseason before the Cardinals signed him. Even if Gresham is available and starts, he's not worth drafting as your starter at tight end.

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) agreed to a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals Friday, July 24, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Bears | Chicago could sign Jermaine Gresham

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 12:12:58 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) has drawn interest from the Chicago Bears, who have supposedly talked about signing the tight end.

Fantasy Tip: If signed, Gresham would play behind TE Martellus Bennett and wouldn't have a lot of value unless Bennett suffers an injury.

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 05:23:15 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) visited the Green Bay Packers Thursday, July 23, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham would have a bit of upside in this offense, but he's a middling TE2 target.

Cardinals | Jermaine Gresham meets with Arizona

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 09:22:08 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (back) met with the Arizona Cardinals Tuesday, July 21, but the two sides have not agreed to a deal at this point. Gresham underwent back surgery earlier this offseason, and it is not known if the Cardinals' doctors were comfortable with his health. Gresham may decide to meet with other teams before making a decision.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham could wait to see if a starting tight end suffers an injury before signing with a team. He probably will not be more than a No. 2 tight end for fantasy owners this season.

Cardinals | AZ hosting Jermaine Gresham

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 12:38:43 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Cardinals) will visit the Arizona Cardinals Tuesday, July 21.

Fantasy Tip: If signed, Gresham would have to compete with Troy Niklas and other tight ends for playing time. Gresham should not be seen as more than a backup fantasy tight end.

Saints | Jermaine Gresham has offer from NO

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 15:15:14 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) was offered a contract by the New Orleans Saints after visiting in June. He has other visits planned over the next two weeks and is expected to decide on a team before training camp begins.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints are looking for a replacement for Jimmy Graham, and while Gresham is nowhere near the weapon Graham is, he would still warrant consideration as a backup tight end if Drew Brees becomes his quarterback.

Cardinals | Jermaine Gresham to visit Arizona

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 08:38:52 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham will visit the Arizona Cardinals at some point during the week of Monday, July 20, according to a source apprised of his plans. Gresham plans to meet with additional teams and to find a new home by training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham hasn't surpassed 500 receiving yards since the 2012 season, he has never had more than five touchdowns in a season, and he's not much of a fantasy option regardless of where he signs.

Bengals | Jermaine Gresham not an option for Cincy

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 09:19:44 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) likely will not re-sign with the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham may have to wait until an injury during training camp before signing with a team. Gresham probably will not be a starter this season and will not have a lot of fantasy value.

Packers | Green Bay looking at tight end market?

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 05:19:20 -0700

The Green Bay Packers could sign a free-agent tight end before training camp opens Thursday, July 30. Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) is considered a candidate.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham would enter into the mix and compete for targets and playing time with Andrew Quarless and Richard Rodgers. Quarless has some legal issues, and Rodgers is inexperienced. Despite lining up in a high-powered offense, whoever ends up seeing the majority of snaps will be low on the pecking order for targets. At this point, Rodgers is a low-end No. 2 tight end for deep leagues after a nice finish to 2014, and he is the only option on the fantasy radar.

Saints | Jermaine Gresham good fit to Saints' HC

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 14:54:50 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) would make a good fit in the New Orleans Saints' offense, according to head coach Sean Payton. Payton said he thought Gresham's visit with New Orleans went well Wednesday, June 3. Gresham (back) is recovering from offseason surgery on a herniated disc.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints are in need of more depth at tight end after trading Jimmy Graham to the Seattle Seahawks, so signing Gresham would seem to make sense. If Gresham does sign, he still won't be a starting fantasy tight end.

Saints | Jermaine Gresham visited NO

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 17:30:43 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham visited the New Orleans Saints Wednesday, June 3, according to sources. No deal is done yet.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham caught 62 passes for 460 yards and five touchdowns as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2014. The Saints have a need at the tight end position with Jimmy Graham now in Seattle, so if Gresham is able to land a contract in New Orleans, he'll instantly factor back into the fantasy picture as a top-20 tight end.

Cardinals | Jermaine Gresham a possibility for AZ?

Tue, 05 May 2015 13:11:12 -0700

Former Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (back) could be targeted by the Arizona Cardinals if he is medically cleared, according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports.

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals are in need of a tight end with the retirement of TE John Carlson. Gresham had back surgery in March, so it's important that he is medically cleared for football activities first. If Arizona does acquire Gresham or another tight end, they would compete with TE Troy Niklas for the starting job.

NFL | Jermaine Gresham has herniated disc

Wed, 18 Mar 2015 16:49:23 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (back) has been diagnosed with a herniated disc in his back, according to a source. He will undergo surgery Thursday, March 19.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham was a candidate to join the Raiders, but that's unlikely to happen now. Gresham could find it difficult to find a taker now that he'll be having back surgery. He shouldn't be on anyone's radar for the 2015 fantasy football season.

NFL | Jermaine Gresham could undergo surgery

Tue, 17 Mar 2015 12:42:48 -0700

Former Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (back) may have surgery Thursday, March 19, to repair a back injury. Gresham will meet with a doctor Wednesday, March 18. He will be ready for the start of training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham has been linked to the Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns so far this offseason. The back issues seem to be keeping teams away. Gresham has TE2 potential if he can stay healthy and depending on who signs him.

Raiders | Jermaine Gresham not option for OAK now

Fri, 13 Mar 2015 11:47:07 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) had contract talks with the Oakland Raiders, but those talks appear to be dead at this point, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham will continue to look for a job this offseason but may not be able to find a starting job at this point. His fantasy value will be determined by which team he joins.

Raiders | Jermaine Gresham visiting

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 13:29:43 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) is expected to visit with the Oakland Raiders Tuesday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear how Gresham might fit in in Oakland after posting 62 catches for 460 yards and five touchdowns in 2014 with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Raiders still have Mychal Rivera, who became one of the team's best receiving targets last year. Gresham would likely be a frustrating weekly fantasy football play in Oakland, making him nothing more than a midrange backup tight end.

Raiders | Jermaine Gresham on target list

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 22:51:33 -0700

The Oakland Raiders are still pushing to sign free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals).

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders missed out on Julius Thomas after making a charge, but Gresham would not be a bad consolation prize.

Browns | CLE interested in Jermaine Gresham

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 12:34:25 -0700

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) will be pursued by the Cleveland Browns if Gresham does not sign with the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham's value would be fairly limited on either team due to subpar quarterbacking. He should be considered no more than a backup fantasy tight end in 2015.

Raiders | Raiders looking at Jermaine Gresham

Sat, 07 Mar 2015 20:46:37 -0800

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) is drawing interest from the Oakland Raiders, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham hasn't shown much explosiveness in recent years, but he could have some value as a red-zone target if he signs with the Raiders. Still, he would only be worth a look in fantasy leagues that require two tight ends or as a bye-week fill-in.

Bengals | Jermaine Gresham unlikely to stay

Sun, 08 Feb 2015 13:09:28 -0800

Free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham (Bengals) is unlikely to remain with the Cincinnati Bengals, according to several league sources.

Fantasy Tip: With Tyler Eifert essentially taking Gresham's job there was little room for Gresham in Cincinnati. He is not a solid TE1 option but may be a decent TE2 in some fantasy leagues.

Bengals | Jermaine Gresham in Cincy's plans?

Wed, 28 Jan 2015 13:58:27 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham, a soon-to-be free agent, still has a place within the offense, according to offensive coordinator Hue Jackson. "We have a way that we do things, and how we want to accomplish things," Jackson said. "Within what we asked him to do this year, he did some good things. There are some things he knows he needs to do to be better, and he will work at them to be better."

Fantasy Tip: Gresham was forced into the team's top pass-catching tight end duties this year after an early-season injury to Tyler Eifert. With Eifert coming back in 2015 and Gresham's future with the team in question, much will likely change in Cincy next season at the tight end position. Even if Gresham returns, he won't be an attractive fantasy tight end with Eifert around.

Bengals | Jermaine Gresham, Bengals likely to part

Tue, 06 Jan 2015 21:28:12 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham is an impending free-agent, and beat writer Geoff Hobson does not expect the team to re-sign him thanks to the emergence of FB Ryan Hewitt.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham could still land a starting job with another organization, but fantasy owners will want to watch the situation closely. He is no longer considered a TE1 in most fantasy formats.

Sun, 04 Jan 2015 08:40:43 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (back) is inactive Sunday, Jan. 4, for the wild-card playoff game.

Fantasy Tip: Kevin Brock ($3,000; 6.0% of your cap) could see a few targets, but RB Giovani Bernard ($5,800; 10.6%) has the most upside on FantasyScore in Gresham's absence.

Bengals | Jermaine Gresham out WC game

Sun, 04 Jan 2015 08:22:46 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (back) has been ruled out Sunday, Jan. 4, for the wild-card playoff game.

Fantasy Tip: Giovani Bernard will likely be used heavily as a receiver out of the backfield, and they may even split him out wide. He had a 7-56-1 line last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers and could be viewed as a pseudo-WR2 with A.J. Green (concussion) out. His $5,800 price tag on FantasyScore looks pretty decent today.

Bengals | Jermaine Gresham listed as questionable

Fri, 02 Jan 2015 12:45:15 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (back) did not participate in practice Friday, Jan. 2, and is listed as questionable for the wild-card playoff game.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list before deciding on using Gresham. Gresham could be more involved in the passing game if he is active, because A.J. Green may miss the game. Gresham is a risky option to use on FantasyScore at $4,600, but could be an attractive option if he plays.

Bengals | Jermaine Gresham misses practice

Thu, 01 Jan 2015 17:56:35 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (back) did not practice Thursday, Jan. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham has caught a touchdown in three straight games, but if he doesn't find the end zone, he has almost no value. Even if he does suit up Sunday, Gresham ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is a roll of the dice at FantasyScore.

Bengals | Jermaine Gresham sitting out

Wed, 31 Dec 2014 15:28:20 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham has a few days to return to practice, so his status for the playoff game will be clearer later in the week. The Indianapolis Colts has problems stopping tight ends this week, so Gresham could be an attractive option on FantasyScore at $4,600 if he is active.

Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (toe) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Gresham ($3,300) is avoidable on FantasyScore this week as he hasn't gained more than 40 yards in seven straight weeks now and is too touchdown dependent.

Cincinnati Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham (toe) will visit a specialist Tuesday, Dec. 16, for a second opinion on his injured toe, a source told FOX Sports NFL insider Mike Garafolo.

Fantasy Tip: Even if he does suit up in Week 16, he should probably be avoided at Fantasyscore. Gresham hasn't been much of a factor this season, and he has failed to top 40 receiving yards in his last seven games.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert to short-term IR

Wed, 10 Sep 2014 08:14:40 -0700

The Cincinnati Bengals have placed TE Tyler Eifert (elbow) on the Active/Reserve/Injured list.

Fantasy Tip: He can begin practicing after six weeks but won't be eligible to play until Week 10 vs. the New Orleans Saints. Jermaine Gresham will receive most of the tight end targets, but he isn't ownable in most leagues yet because Cincy has so many mouths to feed. Gresham's $4,700 cost in FantasyScore isn't cheap enough to take the chance for Week 2.
