Wood Brothers Racing driver Trevor Bayne (illness) said Tuesday, Nov. 12, that he has multiple sclerosis, but he doesn't think it will affect his career. He will compete in the Sprint Cup season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend. His younger sister also has the disease. Multiple sclerosis is a disease in which the immune system attacks the central nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. Symptoms can include fatigue, paralysis and loss of vision, and there is no known cure. Bayne remains scheduled to drive full time for Roush Fenway Racing next year in the Nationwide Series and part time for WBR in the Cup Series.

Roush Fenway Racing driver Trevor Bayne could run a full Sprint Cup schedule for the team in 2014. "That's the long-range goal but that's TBD on how '13 goes," owner Jack Roush said. "When we started Ricky two years ago, we hoped to put Trevor on the same path. Of course he had his health problem the first year and he we had some other challenges with sponsorship last year that limited what we could do." Bayne will run in 12 Cup races for Wood Brothers Racing again this year.

Roush Fenway Racing hopes to have driver Trevor Bayne running a full Sprint Cup schedule by the 2014 season. He will run another part time schedule for Wood Brothers Racing this season as well as a full Nationwide Series slate with RFR.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson crashed on the second lap of the Daytona 500 Monday, Feb. 27, ending his night early. Driver Trevor Bayne, whose car also sustained heavy damage, and driver Danica Patrick were also involved in the crash, among others.

Wood Brothers Racing driver Trevor Bayne disclosed Wednesday, Jan. 25, that he dealt with Lyme disease for two months last season, but the disease has given him no aftereffects this year. Doctor's never called Bayne's issues Lyme disease, rather referring to it as an inflammatory condition. "I'm feeling good," Bayne said. "Obviously, they treated me for Lyme the last time and everything went away. I feel fine. I've been working out pretty hard again. I know I don't look much buffer, but I've been working out." He is set to run the No. 21 Ford in a limited Sprint Cup schedule again this year.

Wood Brothers Racing driver Trevor Bayne will return to the team in the Sprint Cup Series in 2012. He is expected to run around 17-18 races with Motorcraft as the sponsor for 12 of those events.

Roush Fenway Racing owner Jack Roush said driver David Ragan is unlikely to have a spot on the team in 2012. However, drivers Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Trevor Bayne will have spots on the team in 2012. "Right now I don't see having something for David next year," Roush said. "We aren't far enough along."

Roush Fenway Racing driver Trevor Bayne won his first career Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway Saturday, Nov. 5. He previously had 76 career Nationwide starts before winning his first race.

Roush Fenway Racing president Steve Newmark expects the team to shrink from four cars to three in the 2012 Sprint Cup season. Drivers Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle are both fully sponsored for next year, but driver Matt Kenseth doesn't have sponsorship yet. Driver David Ragan could run a limited schedule. Drivers Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Trevor Bayne could also see time in a fourth car.
