Jets | Eric Decker has shoulder surgery

Tue, 15 Nov 2016 07:11:28 -0800

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) is having surgery on his shoulder to repair a torn rotator cuff Tuesday, Nov. 15. Recovery time is eight months, which ends right before training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Decker also had major hip surgery last month, and he'll be coming off two major surgeries at age 30. He'll be an extreme buyer-beware option at receiver next season.

Jets | Eric Decker unconcerned about 2017

Sat, 22 Oct 2016 10:30:52 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hip, shoulder) is not worried about missing any regular-season games next season despite needing surgery on his hip and shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Decker is on crutches after undergoing surgery for a torn labrum on his hip, which has delayed the surgery he was originally supposed to have on his shoulder. He expects an eight-month recovery from his shoulder surgery once he is able to have surgery on it, which will certainly put his availability for the start of training camp in jeopardy if it doesn't happen soon. He's obviously a strong WR2 when healthy, but there are too many questions with his health right now to forecast where he will stand next year.

Jets | More on Eric Decker surgery

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 05:45:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hip, shoulder) had a torn labrum and a lesion in his left hip repaired Tuesday, Oct. 18. Once he's off crutches, he'll have the shoulder surgery, but it's unclear how long that will take. The shoulder surgery will require eight months of recovery, which puts his status for the beginning of the 2017 season up in the air.

Fantasy Tip: Decker will likely be a boom-or-bust WR3 in drafts next season. However, a lot will depend on who is under center for the Jets. There is a lot to dislike about his draft stock after two major surgeries to recover from.

Jets | Eric Decker has hip surgery

Tue, 18 Oct 2016 13:43:08 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hip, shoulder) underwent hip surgery Tuesday, Oct. 18. Decker is expected to recover in six months. Once Decker sheds his crutches, he'll have another procedure on his injured shoulder. The estimated recovery time for the shoulder surgery is eight months.

Fantasy Tip: In other words, Decker is a basket case right now. The good news is that he should be healthy and ready in time for offseason activities next year. As for this season, Brandon Marshall will continue to see a plethora of targets, while Quincy Enunwa serves as the No. 2 receiver. Robby Anderson and Jalin Marshall will have expanded roles, but neither of them is reliable enough to warrant starting.

Jets | Eric Decker will undergo surgery

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 11:06:03 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) will undergo season-ending surgery to repair his partially torn rotator cuff.

Fantasy Tip: Quincy Enunwa will continue to serve as the No. 2 receiver for the Jets moving forward. Enunwa has been a solid part of the team's passing game this season and should be considered a No. 3 receiver or a flex option for fantasy owners.

Jets | Eric Decker to IR

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 08:00:12 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Oct. 12, with a partially torn rotator cuff.

Fantasy Tip: The move will keep Decker out at least eight weeks. If he can avoid surgery, until the offseason at least, he could return late in the season for a fantasy playoff push. Quincy Enunwa has a 27-294-1 line on the year, and he has been targeted nearly eight times a game. If he wasn't before, he's a must-own now.

Jets | Eric Decker ruled out Week 5

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 11:08:11 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) will not play Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: As expected. There is no clarity on Decker, who could be back as soon as next week or may not return this season due to his partially torn rotator cuff, depending on the source. Quincy Enunwa has been listed as questionable and Jalin Marshall is out indefinitely, so Robby Anderson needs to be on the radar of owners in deeper leagues. Brandon Marshall could be in line for 15-plus targets this weekend if Enunwa and Jalin Marshall cannot play.

Jets | Eric Decker out Friday

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 08:29:53 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) is out of practice Friday, Oct. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Decker is a long shot to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. Quincy Enunwa had six grabs for 60 yards last week, and he's a low-end WR3 option in Week 5.

Jets | No improvement for Eric Decker

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 10:41:54 -0700

New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles said the team has not seen any improvement in WR Eric Decker's (shoulder) shoulder injury. Bowles said it is too early to consider placing Decker on the Reserve/Injured list.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Decker will miss at least one more week and could be placed on Injured Reserve if the injury does not make any progress. Owners can avoid Decker for the time being. Quincy Enunwa has played well this season and should be a solid starting candidate for most fantasy leagues.

Jets | Eric Decker remains out

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 09:31:07 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) is not participating in practice Thursday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Decker will miss at least one more week because of his shoulder injury, so owners should avoid him in all leagues. Quincy Enunwa likely will be the No. 2 receiver for the Jets and can be at least a No. 3 receiver for fantasy owners.

Jets | Eric Decker does not practice

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 13:50:21 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should know more about Decker's status later in the week, but there is a good chance he misses another game. He will be a risky option if he is active for the game, so owners may want to use other options in their lineups even if he plays.

Jets | Eric Decker unsure if he'll play

Tue, 04 Oct 2016 16:29:36 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) said he's feeling better this week compared to last week, but he's still not sure if he'll be able to take the field in Week 5. Decker added that he's having trouble sleeping because of the discomfort with his torn rotator cuff. He has not ruled out surgery following the season. ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini doesn't think Decker will be active this week.

Fantasy Tip: It's best to plan on not having Decker this weekend. Brandon Marshall, Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson will likely be New York's top three wideouts, with Bilal Powell also being more involved in the passing game. Marshall is a solid WR1 option against the Pittsburgh Steelers, while Enunwa makes for a WR3 despite Ryan Fitzpatrick's recent struggles.

Jets | Eric Decker unlikely for Week 5

Mon, 03 Oct 2016 19:41:35 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) missed one game due to a partially torn rotator cuff in his shoulder, and beat writer Darryl Slater said Monday, Oct. 3, it seems unlikely Decker will be ready for the Week 5 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Head coach Todd Bowles added it is too soon to determine if the team could place Decker on the Reserve/Injured Designated to Return list, which would sideline Decker at least eight weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners who normally rely upon Decker will want to play it safe and keep him reserved until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks. Quincy Enunwa is a solid fantasy fill-in while Decker is on the shelf.

Jets | Eric Decker was an IR candidate

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 08:30:31 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker's (shoulder) shoulder injury was worrisome enough that the Jets considered placing him on the Reserve/Injured list. Decker is dealing with a partially torn rotator cuff.

Fantasy Tip: Decker is considered week-to-week at this point, so owners will need to check on his status during practice each week. Quincy Enunwa should receive more targets with Decker sidelined and is a fine No. 2 or No. 3 receiver option in many leagues.

Jets | Robby Anderson the new No. 3 WR for NYJ

Sat, 01 Oct 2016 10:56:07 -0700

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson is expected to serve as the third receiver behind Brandon Marshall and Quincy Enunwa while Eric Decker is sidelined with partially torn rotator cuff.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson may be an undrafted rookie free agent, but he led the team with 13 catches for 264 yards and three touchdowns during the preseason. At 6-3 and 190 pounds, he's a bit slight and will work only as an outside receiver as Marshall and Enunwa likely share slot duties. He's unlikely to come into much redraft value barring another injury ahead of him, but he needs to be on the radar of dynasty owners.

Jets | Eric Decker not a lock to return in 2016

Sat, 01 Oct 2016 09:36:10 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) will attempt to rest and rehab his partially torn rotator cuff, but head coach Todd Bowles would not discount the possibility of it becoming a season-ending injury. "I'm not sure. They have to monitor it. (Doctors) said some people play with it over the course of time. We'll see how it goes," Bowles said.

Fantasy Tip: Decker has suffered from similar shoulder injuries in the past, dating back to his days as a college baseball player, and he has already noted his shoulder feels better now than it did earlier this week. At this point, owners should hold onto him and hope for an early November return, which seems possible given his previous history. Quincy Enunwa will replace him in the lineup and should be considered a high-upside WR3 in the meantime.

Jets | Eric Decker has partially torn rotator cuff

Fri, 30 Sep 2016 10:27:37 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) has been diagnosed with a partially torn rotator cuff and is out for Week 4 versus the Seattle Seahawks. Head coach Todd Bowles called Decker "week-to-week" and it is unknown at this time whether or not he will require surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Decker told the New York media he's had similar shoulder problems in the past and will try to build strength back in the shoulder in order to avoid surgery. Obviously, owners hope he can go the non-surgical route so he can return in a few weeks, but that is far from a given. Quincy Enunwa needs to added wherever he is still available, as he is now a candidate for 10 targets on a regular basis. Consider him a WR2, even against the Seahawks' defense this week.

Jets | No MRI for Eric Decker yet

Thu, 29 Sep 2016 10:40:36 -0700

New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles said WR Eric Decker (shoulder) has not had an MRI done on his injured shoulder but may undergo an MRI at some point. Bowles said he hopes the injury will not last more than a week.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Decker may be a game-time decision for Week 4, so owners will need to check on his status later in the week. Decker should be a solid starting option in fantasy leagues if he is active, but owners will need other options ready to use if he is ruled out.

Jets | Eric Decker out of practice

Thu, 29 Sep 2016 08:19:45 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) is out of practice Thursday, Sept. 29. He didn't even take part in stretching.

Fantasy Tip: Decker had a big 6-126-1 Week 2, but he has largely been invisible in the two other games. He has a tough matchup against the Legion of Boom with the Seattle Seahawks, and he's a risky flex option if he suits up.

Jets | Eric Decker likely to undergo MRI exam

Wed, 28 Sep 2016 12:27:47 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) aggravated his shoulder injury during the Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, Sept. 25, and he will likely undergo an MRI exam, according to head coach Todd Bowels.

Fantasy Tip: Decker did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 28, and he is coming off his worst fantasy showing (one reception for 31 yards) since his first season with the Jets in 2014. However, if Decker's weak outing was injury related and not just a blip on the radar, there is some concern for his fantasy stock. Don't downgrade him yet, but how active he is in practice this week should reveal the significance of his injury and whether he can be started in Week 4.

Jets | Eric Decker not practicing

Wed, 28 Sep 2016 11:14:30 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) is not on the field for practice Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Decker dealt with a shoulder injury last week but was able to play in the team's Week 3 game. Owners can keep an eye on the situation, but he should be able to play. Decker should still be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues even though Ryan Fitzpatrick has struggled early in the season.

Jets | Eric Decker fined

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 06:34:46 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker has been fined $9,115 by the NFL for taunting during Week 2's game against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Decker has 15 receptions for 163 yards and two touchdowns through his first two games this season and could be in line for an even bigger role in the offense if WR Brandon Marshall (foot, knee) is held out of Week 3's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Decker should be viewed as a solid WR2 option in all fantasy formats.

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 14:02:14 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Decker has a chance to be the No. 1 receiver for the Jets in Week 3 if Brandon Marshall is ruled out. He is off to a solid start this season and should be a No. 2 receiver for owners.

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Decker appears to have a solid chance to play in Week 3, but owners should continue to monitor the situation. He has recorded 163 yards and two touchdowns over the first two games of the season and will be a solid starting option if he is active.

Jets | Eric Decker not practicing

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 12:36:11 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Decker recently said he expected to play Week 3 against the Kansas City Cheifs Sunday, Sept. 25, and he's proven to be one of the most reliable fantasy receivers in the league. He's posted 80 receiving yards or scored a touchdown in 18 straight games, after all. Still, you'll want to monitor his progress leading into Sunday.

Jets | Eric Decker says he'll play in Week 3

Tue, 20 Sep 2016 22:27:37 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) indicated during a radio appearance that he's "fine" and will be playing in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Decker is always an important cog in New York's passing attack, but with Brandon Marshall iffy Decker could be in for an even larger role. While you should monitor the situation just in case something changes, Decker looks safe to deploy in your Week 3 lineup.

Jets | Eric Decker has sore shoulder

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 12:05:39 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) is dealing with a sore shoulder, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

Fantasy Tip: Decker is as consistent as they come, and a sore shoulder probably won't keep him from taking the field in Week 3. Keep in mind that Decker and the Jets have a few more days to rest since they played Thursday night. The matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs isn't the easiest, but Decker is still a flex play at worst.

Jets | Quincy Enunwa becoming a weapon

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 17:56:18 -0700

New York Jets WR Quincy Enunwa is the "unsung hero" for the offense, according to WR Brandon Marshall, and WR Eric Decker said Enunwa understands coverages better this year and will be a "huge weapon" going forward.

Fantasy Tip: Enunwa has 13 grabs for 146 yards for through two games, and he is the clear No. 3 option in a potent passing attack. He shouldn't be relied on as a starter, but he should make a useful depth piece as low-end WR4.

Jets | Eric Decker scores again

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 21:15:11 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker finished with six catches for 126 yards and a touchdown in a 37-31 win over the Buffalo Bills Thursday, Sept. 15, and he has caught a touchdown in six straight games dating back to last season.

Fantasy Tip: Decker's knack for finding the end zone and decent yardage totals make him a dependable WR3.

Jets | Quincy Enunwa set to be third receiver?

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 12:10:05 -0700

New York Jets WR Quincy Enunwa currently has the inside track on being the No. 3 wide receiver. He will battle with WRs Kenbrell Thompkins, Jalin Marshall and Devin Smith (knee) for roster spots and playing time behind WRs Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall and Decker are both viable No. 2 receivers for your fantasy squad and also provide a reliable floor. There's a tremendous falloff after them, though. Additionally, there isn't a lot of fantasy value for the third receiver in the passing game, especially if tight end Jace Amaro reestablishes himself as a pass catcher. At this point, Enunwa and Thompkins are potential late-round fliers in deep leagues, but they are likely best left to the waiver wire. Marshall and Smith don't currently move the fantasy needle.

Jets | Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker practicing

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 07:32:55 -0700

New York Jets WRs Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are participating in organized team activities Wednesday, June 1.

Fantasy Tip: Both Marshall and Decker have skipped some workouts this offseason but will be the two main targets in the passing game this season. Both should be starting options in all leagues, but their value will be determined by the team's quarterback. Marshall and Decker would see their value drop if the starting quarterback is not Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Jets | Eric Decker, Brandon Marshall back

Tue, 31 May 2016 07:13:47 -0700

New York Jets WRs Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall were back at practice for organized team activities Tuesday, May 31, after sitting out the opening week in a show of solidarity for the unsigned QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall and Decker enjoyed fine chemistry with Fitz in 2015, and their fantasy value depends heavily on whether the Jets bring the grizzled QB back for another season. If Fitzpatrick re-signs, consider Marshall a low-end WR1 or high-end WR2. Decker is more of a midrange No. 2 option.

Jets | Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker absent

Thu, 26 May 2016 10:39:48 -0700

New York Jets WRs Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are both not in attendance for organized team activities this week. Head coach Todd Bowles downplayed their absence, but Decker stayed away because he's upset that the Jets have yet to re-sign QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. The reason for Marshall's absence is unclear.

Fantasy Tip: It makes sense for both Marshall and Decker to be upset with the Fitzpatrick situation. Both receivers developed nice chemistry with the Amish Rifle in 2015, and their production depends greatly on whether he returns. If Fitz moves on, Geno Smith would likely be delivering the pigskin through the air, and that's a sizable dropoff. Marshall and Decker's fantasy value would take a big hit if Fitz isn't re-signed.

Jets | Eric Decker unhappy with Jets

Wed, 25 May 2016 19:49:11 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker is skipping organized team activities this week because he is upset that the team has not re-signed free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick at this point, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Decker played very well with Fitzpatrick as his quarterback in 2015, so it is understandable that Decker would want Fitzpatrick to return. Decker should be a No. 2 receiver for owners if Fitzpatrick re-signs, but his value would take a hit if Geno Smith or another quarterback starts.

Jets | Teammate expects Ryan Fitzpatrick back

Tue, 17 May 2016 18:55:12 -0700

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) is not close to a contract agreement with the New York Jets, but Jets WR Eric Decker said he expects Fitzpatrick to be the starting quarterback in the first regular season game.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets are still interested in re-signing Fitzpatrick but are not willing to pay him what he is asking for at this point. Owners should keep an eye on the situation because Fitzpatrick would be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some deeper leagues and would help the fantasy value of Decker and Brandon Marshall.

Jets | Eric Decker talks Ryan Fitzpatrick

Tue, 17 May 2016 16:58:43 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker said the Jets need to be prepared to play without free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets). Decker does want New York to re-sign the veteran quarterback, but he's focused on the football team as a whole. "All I can say is we have to move on without him right now because they are stuck where they are with the business decision," Decker said. "But, again, we have a job to do and that's to be the best football team, field the best football team, of who we have in the locker room right now."

Fantasy Tip: Decker and the offense would be better off with Fitzpatrick back, but Decker is right. For now, Geno Smith will start at quarterback for the Jets, which would somewhat lessen the fantasy value and his cohorts like Brandon Marshall. That being said, Decker and Marshall are still in WR2 and WR1 territory, respectively, with Marshall having more value in PPR leagues.

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 14:51:49 -0800

New York Jets WR Eric Decker caught five passes for 50 yards and one touchdown against the Buffalo Bills in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) has been unbelievable this season and is a WR1 consideration against the Buffalo Bills. Decker ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) is a solid WR2 candidate on FantasyScore.

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 11:47:42 -0800

New York Jets WRs Eric Decker (knee) and Brandon Marshall (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Decker ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) and Marshall ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) are two of the more productive receivers in the NFL this year. Both should be fine plays even at a high price on FantasyScore against a suspect Buffalo Bills defense that struggles to generate pressure on the quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) and Decker ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) have been consistent fantasy options for owners this season and should be starting options in Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills.

New York Jets WR Eric Decker caught three passes for 47 yards and one touchdown against the New England Patriots in Week 16, including a six-yard touchdown to win the game in overtime.

Fantasy Tip: Decker has caught a touchdown pass in each of the last three games and has at least five catches in eight of his last 10 games. Decker should be a solid starting option against the Buffalo Bills in Week 17.

Jets | The big three are probable for the Jets

Fri, 25 Dec 2015 14:02:21 -0800

New York Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) and WRs Eric Decker (knee) and Brandon Marshall (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 25, and are probable for the Week 16 game against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzpatrick ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) is a fringe starter in 12-team seasonal leagues, but you should be able to find better upside in his price range at FantasyScore. Decker ($7,100, 14.2%) and Marshall ($8,300, 16.6%) have both become must-start receivers in yearly formats, and while they're worth a look at FantasyScore this week, New England has only allowed 230.3 passing yards per game this season.

Fantasy Tip: Fitz ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) has been steady for the Jets, but he's only thrown for 300 yards one time this year. However, he came close to that mark and threw two touchdowns last time he faced the Pats. He's not a bad sleeper target. Decker ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) and Marshall ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) have been two of the more consistent receivers, and they both should have acceptable games against New England, especially if the Jets are playing catchup.

Jets | Three Jets fully practice Wednesday

Wed, 23 Dec 2015 15:57:50 -0800

New York Jets WRs Eric Decker (knee) and Brandon Marshall (ankle) and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Fantasy Tip: It's just another day on the injury report for these regulars, but none of them are in jeopardy of missing Week 16. Marshall ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) and Decker ($7,100, 14.2%) are better starts than Fitzpatrick ($7,400, 14.8%) this week as the New England Patriots are a top-five fantasy defense against quarterbacks this year. Marshall and Decker are in WR1 and WR2 territory, respectively, while Fitzpatrick should be viewed as a QB2.
