Brewers | Kirk Nieuwenhuis hits three-run blast

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 21:23:31 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis was 2-for-4 with a three-run home run against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, June 29.

Fantasy Tip: Nieuwenhuis has now homered three times in his last four starts. Not bad considering he entered play on June 22 with three homers on the season. He was also caught stealing twice on Wednesday, which is a sign he's trying to make things happen on the bases. Now that Alex Presley is gone, Nieuwenhuis figures to see a lot of at-bats. Still, he's no more than a stash candidate in NL-only leagues for the time being.

Brewers | Kirk Nieuwenhuis out Tuesday

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 13:33:33 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis will not start Tuesday, June 28, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. OF Keon Broxton will play center field and bat eighth against Dodgers SP Julio Urias.

Fantasy Tip: Nieuwenhuis is out with Urias pitching for the Dodgers, so the lefty vs. lefty matchup is avoided. Broxton has little fantasy value and strikes out way too much for fantasy owners' tastes. Broxton's value mainly comes from the speed he possesses, so he may be a low-end option if you're looking for speed.

Brewers | Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Ramon Flores playing

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 10:14:02 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OFs Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Ramon Flores are back in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark Sunday, June 26. Nieuwenhuis will bat sixth and play center field, while Flores will bat eighth and play right field.

Fantasy Tip: Nieuwenhuis is batting just .228 with two home runs and four RBI over the last four weeks, with 23 strikeouts in 57 at-bats, while Flores is batting .271 with six RBI during the same stretch. Neither player should be viewed as anything more than salary cap relief in daily fantasy games.

Brewers | Ryan Braun returns to lineup Saturday

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 10:35:02 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun is back in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Saturday, June 25. In addition, INF/OF Hernan Perez will bat sixth and play right field, with OF Keon Broxton batting eighth and playing center field. OFs Ramon Flores and Kirk Nieuwenhuis are receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Perez has cooled off after a hot start at the plate in 2016 and is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief in daily fantasy games. Broxton is 8-for-57 (.140) with 31 strikeouts and should be avoided in all formats.

Brewers | Ryan Braun, Chris Carter out Wednesday

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 10:21:48 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun and 1B Chris Carter are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 15, with OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis hitting cleanup and OF Ramon Flores hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: There's not much in the numbers that suggests Nieuwenhuis is a good play against Johnny Cueto today. Because he's hitting cleanup, though, he's a basement option you can't ignore in DFS. Flores has no fantasy prowess.

Milwaukee Brewers OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis is not in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Steven Matz Sunday, June 12. OF Keon Broxton will start in center field and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Broxton has recorded only one hit in his last seven games and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues at this point.

Brewers | Milwaukee resting four starters

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 08:51:14 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett, C Jonathan Lucroy, OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis and OF Alex Presley are not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia Wednesday, June 1. 2B Aaron Hill will start at second base, while 3B Hernan Perez will start at third base and is batting second. OF Ramon Flores will start in right field and is batting sixth. OF Keon Broxton will start in center field and is batting seventh, while C Martin Maldonado will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Perez and Flores have each hit over .300 over the last seven days and should have some value in some daily fantasy leagues. Broxton and Maldonado have struggled at the plate this season and probably can be avoided in most leagues.

Brewers | Ryan Braun resting Saturday

Sat, 28 May 2016 10:52:25 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun is not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP Alfredo Simon Saturday, May 28. OF Alex Presley will bat seventh and play left field. In addition, 2B Scooter Gennett and OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis are back in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Presley is 3-for-7 with a home run and two RBI versus Simon in his career but his overall numbers this season (.229-3-10) are nothing to write home about. He should be viewed as a flier option in daily fantasy contests capable of providing salary cap relief.

Brewers | Scooter Gennett, Kirk Nieuwenhuis out

Fri, 27 May 2016 14:18:13 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett and OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis are not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds left-handed SP John Lamb Friday, May 27. 3B Hernan Perez is starting at third base and batting second, while OF Keon Broxton is in center field and hitting eighth. 3B Aaron Hill moves over to the keystone.

Fantasy Tip: Lamb doesn't strike fear into his opponents, so Perez, Hill and Broxton could return decent value in daily leagues. Perez has the most upside in the two-hole, and he's hitting .291 (16-for-55) with three home runs and eight RBI. Broxton's main asset is his speed, so he doesn't really fit the daily landscape all that well.

Brewers | Ryan Braun remains out of lineup Saturday

Sat, 21 May 2016 11:16:40 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun is not in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom Saturday, May 21. 2B Scooter Gennett will bat second and play the keystone position, with INF Aaron Hill sliding over to play third base and bat sixth. OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis will bat fifth and play center field, OF Alex Presley will bat seventh and play left field and OF Ramon Flores will bat eighth and play right field.

Fantasy Tip: Presley (6-for-37) and Flores (4-for-19) have both struggled at the plate over the last two weeks and should be avoided in all fantasy formats. Gennett, Hill and Nieuwenhuis have fared better but are somewhat risky fantasy options versus deGrom this afternoon.
