Sun, 26 Jun 2016 13:05:07 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Miguel Sano (hamstring) likely will play three or four more rehab games with Class AAA Rochester, according to manager Paul Molitor. Sano is working on his timing and pitch recognition during the rehab games.

Twins | Expect Miguel Sano back soon

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 14:57:49 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B/OF Miguel Sano's (hamstring) rehab assignment will only be three or four days.

Fantasy Tip: Sano has 11 home runs and 27 RBI through 50 games this season, so after hitting 18 home runs following his promotion to the majors July 2 last year, there is still plenty of time for Sano to post solid year-end numbers. He should be owned in all fantasy formats.

Twins | Miguel Sano set for rehab stint

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 22:58:13 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B-OF Miguel Sano (hamstring) is set for a minor-league rehab assignment with Class AAA Rochester. Manager Paul Molitor said Wednesday, June 22, that he is hopeful Sano will get 15 to 20 at-bats during the rehab stint. Molitor said he is unsure if the slugger will return to right field upon his return.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners will want to keep Sano reserved until he can officially return and prove his health in at least two full games without any setbacks. If he does return to right field he will take playing time away from Max Kepler, who has been a defensive liability in right.

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 07:28:22 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B/OF Miguel Sano (hamstring) ran and took batting practice Saturday, June 18. The club plans to put him through a battery of tests for his hamstring Monday, June 20, including cutting, starting and stopping. If all goes well, he could begin a rehab assignment soon, according to general manager Terry Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: Sano should remain stashed in all fantasy formats because of his power potential and positional versatility. He is hitting .235 with 11 home runs and 27 RBI through 50 games this season.

Twins | Miguel Sano picking up the pace

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 14:31:11 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Miguel Sano (hamstring) has not progressed from hitting in the batting cage, but he will shag fly balls in the outfield during batting practice Friday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: Remember, Sano didn't debut until July 2 last year and still hit 18 bombs, so there is still plenty of time for the slugger to approach 30 home runs this season. Continue to stash him in all fantasy leagues and check back for updates on his status and return timeline.

Twins | Miguel Sano not expected back soon

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 17:10:45 -0700

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan said 3B/OF Miguel Sano (hamstring) has a moderate hamstring strain, according to the results of an MRI exam. He is unlikely to be activated from the disabled list after the minimum 15 days.

Fantasy Tip: Sano should remain rostered in all fantasy formats because of his elite power potential, despite his disappointing start to the 2016 season. He is batting just .235 with 11 home runs and 27 RBI through 50 games and has struck out 71 times in 179 at-bats. OF Max Kepler should receive a decent amount of playing time in his absence and is worthy of consideration for AL-only fantasy leagues.

Twins | No significant damage for Miguel Sano

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 14:36:47 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Miguel Sano's (hamstring) MRI exam didn't show any significant damage to his hamstring, but manager Paul Molitor said there remains no official timetable for Sano's return.

Fantasy Tip: Sano has elite power potential but can be a drain on your batting average (.235) with a long swing. You know what you're getting, though, and he should remain stashed in all formats. His owners can breathe a sigh of relief since it looks like he won't be out for too long. Max Kepler is a budding power prospect that is worth a look in AL-only leagues in the meantime.

Twins | Miguel Sano to have MRI

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 11:42:10 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Miguel Sano (hamstring) will undergo an MRI exam on his hamstring when the team is back in Minnesota as a precaution, according to manager Paul Molitor. The Twins are unsure of the severity of Sano's hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: Sano was leading the Twins with 11 home runs and 27 RBI before his injury despite a low .235 batting average. He's a boom-or-bust player with elite home run power. You aren't rostering him for his help in average, though, as he has 71 strikeouts in 179 at-bats. Keep Sano stashed in all leagues.

Twins | Miguel Sano placed on DL

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 06:38:19 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Miguel Sano (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, June 1, because of a left hamstring strain. The team also recalled OF Max Kepler from Class AAA Rochester.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye out on the situation to see if Sano will be able to return after a few weeks or will need longer to recover. Kepler and Oswaldo Arcia are candidates to receive playing time with Sano sidelined. Arcia hit only .200 with one home run and five RBI in May and is not a strong option in most fantasy leagues. Kepler could have some value in AL-only leagues but can be avoided in mixed leagues.
