Twins | Miguel Sano finished with winter ball

Mon, 14 Dec 2015 12:14:18 -0800

Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano has finished playing in the Dominican Winter League to focus on his conditioning and outfield work, according to general manager Terry Ryan. Sano is expected to regularly play the outfield next season.

Fantasy Tip: Sano posted a .269/.385/.530 slash line with 18 homers, 17 doubles and 52 RBI through 80 games last season, and he is an emerging power hitter with huge fantasy upside. Entering his age-23 season, the arrow is pointing straight up for Sano, and he is worth a look in the early middle rounds of seasonal drafts next spring.

Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano is expected to play right field in 2016, and he's on board with the move, according to general manager Terry Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: Sano will have more fantasy value at third base, and his power potential puts him in the upper half at the position in traditional leagues.

Twins | Trevor Plouffe on block?

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 13:53:19 -0800

Minnesota Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe could be on the trading block this offseason with the signing of Korean 1B Byung-ho Park. Plouffe would be replaced by 3B Miguel Sano.

Fantasy Tip: All indications are Plouffe would be a goner if this situation occurs, and it would likely be to a place where he could get some playing time. His draft status will depend on a trade. If he's still in Minnesota when spring camp opens, Plouffe will go way down.

Twins | Miguel Sano set for outfield duties

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 11:09:53 -0800

Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano is expected to move to the outfield next season, as the team believes he's athletic enough to make the transition.

Fantasy Tip: Sano had a monster rookie year, clubbing 18 home runs and driving in 52 in just 80 games, and his power potential is off the charts. He certainly won't come cheap in fantasy drafts next year, and his stock is rising even more now that he'll gain outfield eligibility in addition to third base in 2016.

Twins | Miguel Sano to see lion's share at third

Thu, 05 Nov 2015 10:23:48 -0800

Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano could play a maximum of 40 games at designated hitter next season, according to manager Paul Molitor. 3B Trevor Plouffe won't be an option in left field.

Fantasy Tip: Sano will be in the top couple of tiers at third entering drafts next season. Plouffe could be the DH often, but he seems to be without a position right now. What the team does this offseason will make his fantasy value more clear.

Twins | Miguel Sano could play outfield

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 09:56:28 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano could play some left field next year, according to general manager Terry Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: Sano is one of the top young power-hitting players in the game and despite his lack of positional versatility, he will still be targeted in the early rounds of fantasy drafts. Adding outfield eligibility in 2016 would be a huge plus.

Twins | Miguel Sano back in the lineup

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 15:28:38 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano (hamstring) is batting fourth as the designated hitter against Chicago White Sox SP Erik Johnson Friday, Sept. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Sano ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) hit a pinch-hit home run Wednesday, Sept. 9, and this will be his first start since Tuesday, Sept. 8. He owns top-tier power, and he hasn't shown any signs of struggling because of the nagging hamstring injury. Still, given his hefty cap hit, Sano isn't a slam-dunk play at FantasyScore Friday.

Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano had a pinch-hit solo home run Wednesday, Sept. 9, against the Kansas City Royals to snap an 0-for-14 slump that included 11 strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Sano ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) still has 16 homers in 57 games over 196 at-bats. Despite the recent slump he remains a solid mid-level FantasyScore play at the hot corner.

Twins | Miguel Sano remains out vs. Royals

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 15:23:29 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 9. 1B Kennys Vargas draws into the lineup and is batting fourth against Kansas City Royals SP Kris Medlen Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Sano ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) is nursing a sore hamstring, and he has now sat out two consecutive games. The injury has not hindered his bat, though, as Sano owns a .904 OPS with three home runs over his past 10 games. Vargas ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has 14 home runs through 377 career at-bats, and checks out as a boom-or-bust play at FantasyScore Wednesday.

Twins | No Miguel Sano Tuesday

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 14:13:03 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 8. OF Torii Hunter is serving as the designated hitter and is batting sixth against Kansas City Royals SP Edinson Volquez.

Fantasy Tip: The veteran Hunter ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has faded drastically in the second half of the season, and he hit an ugly .130 (9-for-69) with two home runs and nine RBI in August. There's no incentive to choose him for your FantasyScore lineups tonight until he shows us he has something left in the tank in 2015.
