White Sox | Anthony Ranaudo optioned to minors

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 19:01:38 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Anthony Ranaudo was optioned to Class AAA Charlotte Thursday, July 28.

Fantasy Tip: It'll be one and done for Ranaudo, at least for now, after making his team debut Wednesday evening against the Chicago Cubs. In that outing, the right-hander actually did post a quality start, pitching into the seventh inning and allowing three runs on two hits and four walks. He'll probably get another opportunity later on when the rosters expand, but isn't worth stashing at the moment.

White Sox | Anthony Ranaudo solid in ChiSox debut

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 22:30:31 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Anthony Ranaudo allowed three runs on two hits, both home runs, against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday, July 27. He walked four and struck out three. Ranaudo also hit a home run.

Fantasy Tip: Ranaudo acquitted himself well, especially given the talent of the Cubs' lineup and hostile environment. Those in AL-only leagues should keep an eye on him to see how he fares Tuesday in Motown.

White Sox | Anthony Ranaudo facing Cubs Wednesday

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 14:27:39 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Anthony Ranaudo will start against the Chicago Cubs Wednesday, July 27.

Fantasy Tip: Renaudo owns a 3.20 ERA through 13 starts with Class AAA Charlotte and is a former top prospect. He also had an underwhelming 6.1 K/9, though. He's a risky start given his track record in the league (6.33 ERA), and especially against an admirable opponent. Don't fret fading Renaudo in all fantasy formats Wednesday.

Rangers | Rangers debate fifth starter options

Mon, 09 May 2016 17:35:11 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Anthony Ranaudo and RP Cesar Ramos are the club's choices to replace SP A.J. Griffin (shoulder) as their fifth starter. Both will be available during the series against the Chicago White Sox until the team determines when they'll need a fifth starter again.

Fantasy Tip: No matter who prevails with the job, neither is a recommended option for any format. Ranaudo has a career 5.68 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in nine starts and three relief appearances, while Ramos is a career journeyman who is simply better suited for the bullpen.

Rangers | No. 5 job in Texas up for grabs

Mon, 22 Feb 2016 22:37:24 -0800

Texas Rangers SPs Jeremy Guthrie and Nick Tepesch are among the candidates for the fifth spot in the rotation this spring along with SPs Chi Chi Gonzalez, A.J. Griffin, Nick Martinez, Cesar Ramos and Anthony Ranaudo.

Fantasy Tip: The winner of the No. 5 rotation spot will be worth a look in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues, while the losers are headed to the bullpen or minors and should be avoided for now.

Rangers | Nick Martinez recalled

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 14:37:54 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Nick Martinez was recalled from Class AAA Round Rock Monday, July 20, and will be the starting pitcher Monday. The team also optioned SP Anthony Ranaudo to Class AAA Round Rock.

Fantasy Tip: Martinez returns to the team after a few weeks in the minor leagues and could receive a few starts. Owners may want to see Martinez pitch in a game or two before considering him an option in their lineups.

Rangers | Anthony Ranaudo to start Thursday

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 17:02:23 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Anthony Ranaudo will start Thursday, June 18, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Every other pitcher will be pushed back by a day.

Fantasy Tip: Ranaudo lasted just 1 2/3 innings in his lone start of the season back on April 15. Since, Ranaudo has compiled a 7-1 record with a 2.45 ERA in 11 starts for Class AAA. With a difficult matchup Thursday, Ranaudo should be avoided, but season-long owners should be prepared to snatch him up following the game, if he puts together a strong performance.

Rangers | Anthony Ranaudo gets spot start

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 20:02:35 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Anthony Ranaudo will be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to start Wednesday, April 15, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Fantasy Tip: Ranaudo saw some action in Boston last season, and could be a guy who stays in the rotation if he can turn in a decent outing. He is not worth using in FantasyScore just yet, but monitor his start and consider him in AL-only weekly leagues if he sticks around. This could also just be a one-time spot start, too.

Rangers | Six TEX hurlers vying for rotation spot

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 12:01:20 -0700

Texas Rangers SPs Nick Tepesch, Nick Martinez, Alex Gonzalez, Anthony Ranaudo, Lisalverto Bonilla and Ross Ohlendorf are expected to compete for the final spot in the team's starting rotation.

Fantasy Tip: SPs Derek Holland, Yovani Gallardo, Colby Lewis and Ross Detwiler are expected to have the top four spots in the rotation locked up, in the wake of the injury to Yu Darvish (elbow). At this point, it appears that none of the six starters competing for the final rotation spot has an edge over the others, so keep checking back between now and the end of spring training for further updates.
