Free-agent RB Chris Ivory (Jaguars) is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Buffalo Bills Tuesday, March 6.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory cut by Jacksonville

Fri, 23 Feb 2018 09:27:24 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory was released Friday, Feb. 23.

Fantasy Tip: The move is expected to result in cap savings of over $3.6 million. The clock on Ivory's time in Jacksonville started ticking the moment the Jaguars selected Leonard Fournette, but he was also passed on the depth chart by T.J. Yeldon and Corey Grant as the season progressed. Set to turn 30 years old in March, Ivory may have trouble finding an employer this spring.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory looks to be a goner

Wed, 31 Jan 2018 19:47:29 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory "sure seems like a goner at this point," according to Mike Kaye of FirstCoastNews.com. He added that "dropping Ivory would be nothing short of a formality at this point," even though his contract still has "plenty" of dead money.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory wasn't even active for the Jaguars' last two postseason games, so the writing is pretty much on the wall. Obviously, Leonard Fournette is the main guy in the backfield moving forward, and with younger options in Corey Grant and T.J. Yeldon behind him, it indeed looks like Ivory will be moving on. It remains to be seen if he can be a relevant fantasy option in 2018.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory doesn't do much

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 19:32:58 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory rushed 17 times for 42 yards in Week 15 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory averaged just 2.5 yards per attempt while Corey Grant had 6.9 yards per rush on his 10 touches while also finding the end zone. If Leonard Fournette is sidelined again in Week 16, Grant might be the Jacksonville back to watch.

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 08:19:15 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (illness) will see limited snaps during the team's Week 11 game because he is dealing with an illness, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory probably will still serve as the No. 2 running back for the Jaguars during the game but can be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory plays well in Week 9

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 14:55:10 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory rushed for 69 yards on 20 carries against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9. He also caught three passes for 34 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory received a bigger role against the Bengals since Leonard Fournette was benched for a team violation. He should still have a solid role in the offense when Fournette returns to the lineup and could be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Jaguars | T.J. Yeldon on the block?

Sat, 28 Oct 2017 20:04:24 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon is likely being shopped around, according to John Reid of The Florida Times-Union, and Reid believes that if RB Leonard Fournette stays healthy, Yeldon could spend the remainder of the season on the inactive list unless he can pass RB Chris Ivory on the depth chart.

Jaguars | T.J. Yeldon making leap on depth chart?

Wed, 25 Oct 2017 11:38:30 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon could be in line to replace Chris ivory as the backup to Leonard Fournette after running for a 122 yards and a touchdown on nine carries in Week 7. "I think (Yeldon's Week 7 performance) makes you look at things and say, "Where are we with the running backs, what's the situation, where are we on special teams?' head coach Doug Marrone told reporters.

Fantasy Tip: By comparison, Ivory ran 17 times for 47 yards and a score last week. Yeldon is arguably the most adept running back in the passing game in Jacksonville, so this can be an easy decision for Marrone if he wants it to be. Owners of Fournette who want his handcuff should probably start looking at Yeldon as that player, while owners looking for running back help in general could do worse than making a play for Yeldon. Fournette is averaging 24.2 touches and is a candidate to wear out if that pace continues.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory rushes for 47 yards, TD

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 15:50:18 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory rushed 17 times for 47 yards and a touchdown in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts and he was not targeted once in the pass game.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory did an OK job with Leonard Fournette sidelined, but he was overshadowed by T.J. Yeldon in this one. Both backs will be back to an understudy role in Week 9 with Fournette expected back from injury after the bye.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory to start in Week 7

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 08:24:28 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory will be the starting running back against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory willl receive most of the carries during the game and should have success against the Colts run defense. Owners in all leagues should consider Ivory a No. 2 running back or a flex option.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory could have big role

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 16:08:04 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory might have a big role in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts if RB Leonard Fournette (ankle) sits.

Fantasy Tip: Fournette is listed as questionable, and the team has a bye in Week 8. It might make sense for the Jaguars to keep their prized running back on the sidelines so he can couple that rest with the bye to get back to 100 percent for the stretch run. If so, Ivory could be an outstanding fantasy asset, especially in PPR formats, against the leaky Colts defense.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory busy in receiving game

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 20:43:06 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory rushed twice for just three times in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams, but he posted a game-high nine receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory had his best game of the season catching the football, a role he has been very valuable in the past. Heading into Week 7 he remains a useful RB3 or flex play in deeper PPR formats.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory participates in full

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 15:19:31 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (hip) was able to practice in full Friday, Oct. 13, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 6 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory has averaged 8-10 touches per game through five outings, with just seven receptions for 69 yards. Normally he is a pretty solid PPR option, even in a backup capacity, but his appeal is rather minimal in those formats. As long as Leonard Fournette is healthy there isn't much value for Ivory.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory rushes for 42 yards

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 14:18:39 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory rushed for 42 yards on nine carries against the New York Jets in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory is serving as the team's No. 2 running back and sees limited carries each game. He will not have much fantasy value unless something happens to Leonard Fournette during the season.

Jaguars | Jacksonville RBs running into a crowd

Tue, 19 Sep 2017 20:14:44 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RBs Chris Ivory (73.3 percent) and Leonard Fournette (52.5) rank first and fifth, respectively, in the NFL in regards to how often they face eight defenders in the box.

Fantasy Tip: Two games is obviously a very small sample size, but it highlights just how little regard defenses have the passing game's ability - namely Blake Bortles - to beat them. Since Jacksonville's passing game doesn't figure to improve with Allen Robinson out for the year, owners should get used to seeing Ivory and Fournette facing eight men in the box on a regular basis. Thankfully, both have volume on their side, meaning Fournette should remain a quality RB2 and Ivory a matchup-based flex option.

Jaguars | Nine touches for Chris Ivory

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 17:28:44 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory rushed six times for 17 yards in Week 2 against Tennessee and he added three catches for 31 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory saw some extra playing time with a blowout and the team getting away from the run in the second half. Leonard Fournette is still the bellcow and Ivory has limited fantasy appeal as long as the rookie remains healthy.

Jaguars | Leonard Fournette listed as co-starter

Fri, 04 Aug 2017 12:45:30 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette, along with veterans T.J. Yeldon and Chris Ivory, were all listed as starters on the team's first unofficial depth chart Friday, Aug. 4.

Fantasy Tip: It's a time-honored tradition in the NFL to make rookies "work for it," but Fournette is pretty much a lock to start Week 1 barring injury and handle 20 touches on a fairly regular basis. Based on talent and projected workload alone, the No. 4 overall pick has a high floor and should be a solid investment for owners at the middle or end of the second round.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory should be ready for minicamp

Sat, 10 Jun 2017 09:46:44 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (undisclosed) missed some practice time this week because of an undisclosed injury but participated in practice Friday, June 9, and should be a full participant during the mandatory minicamp next week.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory probably will compete for the No. 2 running back job during training camp and would see limited touches if he wins that job. Owners in most leagues probably should look for other options and can avoid Ivory.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory continues first-team work

Mon, 05 Jun 2017 07:15:12 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory continues to run with the first-team offense as rookie RB Leonard Fournette works with the second-team group in organized team activities. While most projections place Fournette in the starting role, with RB T.J. Yeldon as the third-down back, Ivory remains focused on the task at hand. Ivory also noted he will not shy away from helping Fournette learn the ropes. Head coach Doug Marrone stated Fournette will need to earn his spot.

Fantasy Tip: It's June ... don't get hung up on labels and who is working with whom just yet. The Jags did not invest so much in Fournette to heavily play Ivory unless they have to turn his direction. Fournette is a so-so RB2, while Ivory doesn't belong on fantasy rosters at this time.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory impresses head coach

Fri, 26 May 2017 13:12:32 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory looks to be in much better shape than he was in last season, according to head coach Doug Marrone.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory likely will be competing for the No. 2 job during training camp with Leonard Fournette on the team. He likely will receive limited touches if he makes the 53-man roster and probably would only be a late-round pick in deeper leagues.

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 07:55:16 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory rushed 14 times for 45 yards and a touchdown in the Week 16 game against the Tennessee Titans and he added four receptions for 69 yards on six targets.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory's total yards from scrimmage were actually a season high. He has found the end zone twice over the past three games after scoring just once in the first eight outings.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory totals 34 rushing yards

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 15:54:28 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory rushed 10 times for a team-high 44 yards in the Week 15 game against the Houston Texans. He was targeted once in the pass game but did not have a catch.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory is only worth a look as a flex fantasy play in deeper fantasy leagues heading into Week 16. However, his role is a bit uncertain since the team fired Gus Bradley and will not name an interim head coach until Monday.

Fri, 16 Dec 2016 09:52:55 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory practiced in full Friday, Dec. 16 and is no longer on the team's Week 15 injury report.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory has been out since Week 12 with a hamstring injury but should return to some form of his committee role with T.J. Yeldon this weekend against the Houston Texans. With Houston defending the run well in the past few weeks and Jacksonville generally incapable of establishing it, owners can look elsewhere for potential low-end RB2/flex options.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory unlikely to play

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 06:11:31 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (hamstring) is expected to miss Week 14's game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory was limited in practice throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report after sitting out last week's game versus the Denver Broncos. T.J. Yeldon will serve as Jacksonville's primary running back for the second consecutive game but isn't worth considering as anything more than a flex option in deeper seasonal leagues. He has an unfavorable matchup against a Minnesota defense that is tied for the third-fewest rushing touchdowns allowed in the NFL.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory questionable

Fri, 09 Dec 2016 08:36:37 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (hamstring) is questionable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory looks to be on the positive side of questionable, but he'll be in a timeshare with T.J. Yeldon in a tough matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Ivory is an iffy fantasy option this week.
