Jaguars | A timeshare in the Jacksonville backfield?

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 05:35:22 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RBs Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon could have close to an even split of playing time, in the opinion of The Florida Times-Union's Ryan O'Halloran.

Fantasy Tip: What's most important is where and when the playing time come, and Ivory is likely to see more work close to the goal line, whereas Yeldon could be utilized more in passing situations. Depending on your fantasy format, their respected values alter slightly. View both as viable No. 3 backs for your virtual squad. In the event of an injury to either, the other's stock would skyrocket, though, so don't shy away in the middle rounds of drafts.

Jaguars | T.J. Yeldon the third-down back?

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 18:33:31 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon's improvement in pass protection was praised by offensive coordinator Greg Olson, and beat writer Ryan O'Halloran believes Yeldon is being slotted for the third-down back role while RB Chris Ivory will handle more of the carries on early downs.

Fantasy Tip: Yeldon is younger and has more upside, especially in PPR formats, but both he and Ivory are in RB3 range heading into 2016.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory back at practice

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 13:09:50 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (undisclosed) participated in practice Tuesday, June 7.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory appears to be fine and should share work with T.J. Yeldon at running back in 2016. He likely will receive more carries as part of the committee and is coming off a solid 2015 season. Ivory should be a fine No. 2 or No. 3 running back for fantasy owners.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory not at workout

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 11:10:06 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (undisclosed) was not present for organized team activities Monday, June 6.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory should be on the field for the mandatory minicamp and is expected to share work with T.J. Yeldon in 2016. The team is expected to have a better offense this season, which will help his fantasy value. Owners in most leagues should consider Ivory as a No. 2 or No. 3 running back.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory back at practice

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 10:30:45 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (personal) participated in organized team activities Thursday, June 2, after he missed workouts Tuesday, May 31, because of a personal issue.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory probably will share work with T.J. Yeldon in 2016 but may receive a majority of the carries. He should be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in most leagues and should be a starting option most weeks. The Jaguars are expected to have an improved offense this upcoming season, which will help Ivory's fantasy value.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory successful on first down

Sun, 22 May 2016 21:01:34 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory's 736 yards gained on first-down carries last year were the third most in the NFL, and beat writer Ryan O'Halloran believes Ivory will handle more carries on first and second down than RB T.J. Yeldon, and Yeldon will serve as the primary third-down back.

Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen how the carries will be distributed, but Ivory and Yeldon are going to curb the fantasy upside of each other. Yeldon has more upside, especially in PPR formats, but Ivory should still be a potential RB3.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory could start

Fri, 01 Apr 2016 20:05:14 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory and RB T.J. Yeldon will be in a competition to see who opens the 2016 season as the starter, according to head coach Gus Bradley.

Fantasy Tip: Regardless of who is officially listed as the starter, both backs should see their share of touches. Yeldon has more upside and could sneak into RB2 territory, and Ivory should make a serviceable RB3.

Jaguars | Lighter load could help T.J. Yeldon

Fri, 01 Apr 2016 20:03:35 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon led all running backs with 49.3 snaps per game in 2015, and head coach Gus Braldey said RB Chris Ivory was signed in part to help keep Yeldon healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory will cut into Yeldon's workload, but a fresher Yeldon could easily be more productive overall if he is able to play all 16 games. Consider Yeldon a strong RB3 heading into 2016.

Jaguars | Yeldon, Ivory to split carries

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 10:30:28 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars RBs T.J. Yeldon and Chris Ivory will likely split carries in 2016, according to general manager David Caldwell.

Fantasy Tip: That was fairly obvious, but Yeldon holds the upside over Ivory. Ivory seemingly has nagging injuries every year, and Yeldon has the home-run potential. Both will be worth consideration as a low-end RB2, but your RBs are looking good with either of them as an RB3.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory financials

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 16:55:45 -0800

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory's new contract is a five-year deal worth $32 million, including $10 million in guarantees.

Fantasy Tip: While Ivory's addition solidifies the Jaguars' backfield, it seriously hurts his immediate fantasy prospects as well as T.J. Yeldon's. Both backs should be considered nothing more than flex options for now.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory contract note

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 05:23:18 -0800

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Chris Ivory (Jets) agreed to a five-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars that will be worth more than $6 million per season.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory and T.J. Yeldon will form a committee, which will render both to RB3 status.

Jaguars | Chris Ivory expected to join Jacksonville

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 19:13:30 -0800

New York Jets impending free-agent RB Chris Ivory is expected to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars when free agency begins on Wednesday, March 9.

Fantasy Tip: A curious move to say the least for the Jaguars, who repeatedly expressed their satisfaction with T.J. Yeldon's ability to handle a full workload. Ivory will almost certainly form a committee with Yeldon and assume goal-line and short-yardage duties, robbing the rookie of much of the fantasy value he figured to have in an improving offense in 2016. Both backs figure to be flex options at best if Ivory ends up in Jacksonville.

Jets | Chris Ivory wants certain deal

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 15:39:52 -0800

New York Jets impending free-agent RB Chris Ivory is looking for a deal around $6.5 million per year and at minimum three years in length.

Fantasy Tip: There are plenty of teams wanting to sign Ivory, as he is one of the hottest commodities among free-agent running backs this year. There's probably at least one team willing to pay up for Ivory, who, for now, should be regarded as a RB2 for next season.

Jaguars | Jacksonville looking for running back

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 12:10:41 -0800

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be a wild card in free agency when going after running backs, and they've been linked to Miami Dolphins impending free-agent RB Lamar Miller, New York Jets impending free-agent RB Chris Ivory and Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent RB Doug Martin. The Jaguars have a ton of money available this year.

Fantasy Tip: The Jags have confidence in second-year player T.J. Yeldon as a three-down back, but they wouldn't mind pairing another runner with him in the backfield. If Jacksonville brings someone else in, that'll obviously hurt Yeldon's fantasy value and make him more of an RB3 or 4.

NFL | Chris Ivory has plenty of suitors

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 12:04:48 -0800

New York Jets impending free-agent RB Chris Ivory has interest from the San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders, and the Miami Dolphins could also enter the mix.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory can be effective in between the tackles as a downhill runner when healthy, as he showed with the Jets, but his age and injury history should be concerning to fantasy owners. Wherever he lands next he'll likely split backfield duties, but Ivory can still have value as an RB3 in the right situation.

Jets | Chris Ivory likely to move on

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 07:31:37 -0800

New York Jets impending free-agent RB Chris Ivory is unlikely to re-sign with the Jets, according to a source. The Jets don't believe they can keep him and are prepared to move on.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory has improved each of the last three seasons, but it seems like he has constant health issues. Ivory could be an RB2 consideration in the right spot, and he shouldn't be viewed worse than a high-end RB3.

Raiders | Oakland interested in Chris Ivory

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 16:34:15 -0800

New York Jets impending free-agent RB Chris Ivory is receiving interest from the Oakland Raiders. The team is looking for a power back to pair with RB Latavius Murray.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory should receive interest from several teams and may not want to share carries next season, so owners should monitor the situation. Ivory's fantasy value probably would drop if he signed with the Raiders but would still be a low-end No. 2 or No. 3 running back in most leagues.

Buccaneers | Chris Ivory of interest to Bucs

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 15:54:41 -0800

New York Jets impending free-agent RB Chris Ivory is of interest to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if Buccaneers impending free-agent RB Doug Martin does not re-sign.

Fantasy Tip: Both teams will be in dire need of a running back if Ivory and Martin leave their respective squads. Martin and Ivory are considered the two top free-agent running backs this year. Both will be fringe RB1s depending on who they play for next.

Jets | New York could target Alfred Morris

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 15:20:15 -0800

Impending free-agent RB Alfred Morris (Redskins) could be an option for the New York Jets if RB Chris Ivory departs in free agency.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets should have no shortage of options in a loaded free-agent class for running backs. Morris profiles similar to Ivory in the sense that he is a more-than-capable early-down back that generally comes off the field on passing downs. In what figures to be an above-average New York offense again this year, Morris could return the same kind of RB2 value Ivory did last season.

Patriots | New England fixed on upgrading backfield

Sun, 28 Feb 2016 13:21:31 -0800

Impending free-agent RBs Chris Ivory (Jets), Matt Forte (Bears), Alfred Morris (Redskins) and Joique Bell (Lions) are among the veterans on the radar of the New England Patriots, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots would do well to upgrade from LeGarrette Blount and each of the aforementioned names - outside of Bell - would provide that. Ivory is perhaps the most intriguing option in that he is an early-down thumper that would be a great complement to dynamic passing-down back Dion Lewis. If Ivory joins New England, he could be a solid RB2 option in most leagues.

Jets | New York has talked with Chris Ivory

Sun, 21 Feb 2016 11:42:10 -0800

New York Jets impending free-agent RB Chris Ivory and his representatives have spoken with the Jets this offseason, but Ivory is still expected to test the free-agent market. The Jets do want Ivory to return, but they probably won't be able to pay him as much as other prospective teams. Furthermore, the Jets are expected to draft a running back since three of their unrestricted free agents this year are Ivory and RBs Bilal Powell and Stevan Ridley.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory is one of the biggest names on the free-agent market this year, and probably a top-three free-agent running back along with Lamar Miller and Doug Martin. There are always interested suitors for top free-agent ball-carriers, and Ivory's fantasy value will depend on where he lands in free agency.

Jets | New York has questions at running back

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 13:41:57 -0800

New York Jets impending free-agent RBs Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell and Stevan Ridley will all be unrestricted free agents this offseason if they are not re-signed.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory is expected not to re-sign, and it's unlikely that the Jets would let their three best running backs walk away. If Powell stays and the Jets don't sign anyone else, he could be the featured back in New York's offense next season.

Comment (0) | Share: Tweet!Share on Facebook | Source: NFL.com

Jets | Chris Ivory unlikely to return?

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 10:22:38 -0800

New York Jets impending unrestricted free-agent RB Chris Ivory is likely to sign elsewhere this offseason. Although he racked up an AFC-best 1,070 rushing yards in 2015, he'll be 28 next month, he declined late in the season, and the Jets salary cap situation is tight. New York has seven starters headed to free agency, and they have only $14 million projected in salary cap space.

"They want to bring me back, but like I said, I think it's about the cap space. That's going to be the biggest factor as to whether I'm back or not," Ivory said. He's expected to seek at least $4 million per year on the open market.

Fantasy Tip: Although he'll only be 28, Ivory has a lot of miles on his legs, and his second-half decline in 2015 isn't a good sign. He'll likely sign elsewhere and be part of a timeshare where he could be useful as an RB3 or flex player most weeks.

Jets | Chris Ivory wants to stay with Jets

Fri, 29 Jan 2016 17:05:45 -0800

New York Jets impending free-agent RB Chris Ivory said he would like to re-sign with the Jets but is not sure if the team will have the salary cap space to bring him back.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory had a strong start to the 2015 season but was a bit inconsistent for the last few months. He was still able to finish the season with 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns. Ivory should be able to find a solid role with whoever he signs with this offseason and could be a middle-round pick in most leagues.

Jets | Chris Ivory probable

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 11:26:34 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (knee) was limited Friday, Jan. 1, but he's probable for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) is a midrange option on FantasyScore against the Buffalo Bills.

Jets | Limited practice for Chris Ivory

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 11:53:41 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (knee) put in a limited practice Thursday, Dec. 31, after sitting out Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Fantasy Tip: It's a positive sign for Ivory ($6,100, 12.2% of cap), and he should be able to play against the Buffalo Bills barring a setback. Buffalo is a tougher team to run against, though, and Ivory had been fading in recent weeks, making him more of a midrange daily pick this weekend.

Jets | Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell sit out

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 15:19:47 -0800

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RBs Chris Ivory (knee) and RB Bilal Powell (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye out on the situation to see if Ivory ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) and Powell ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) will be able to play against the Buffalo Bills this week. Both could decent starting option in leagues if they are active with Powell being more valuable in point-per-reception leagues.

Jets | Three Jets limited Wednesday

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 12:45:19 -0800

New York Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) and RBs Chris Ivory (knee) and Bilal Powell (ankle) were limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 30. Head coach Todd Bowles said Fitzpatrick's injury is not serious.

Fantasy Tip: These guys will need to be tracked as the week goes on, but it doesn't sound like any of them are in serious doubt of missing the last game of the season. The Buffalo Bills have been mediocre defending both the pass and the run this year, so Fitzpatrick ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) and Ivory ($6,100, 12.2%) are still decent plays, while Powell ($4,900, 9.8%) has more value in PPR leagues like FantasyScore.

Jets | Chris Ivory returns

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 11:43:06 -0800

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (knee) returned in Week 16 after being questionable to return with a knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory has struggled to get going so far today. Of course, the injury didn't help. Although, if the Jets continue to pad their lead against the New England Patriots, Ivory may see more carries later in the game.

Jets | Chris Ivory questionable

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 11:08:05 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (knee) is questionable to return in Week 16 against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Ivory is out, Bilal Powell will handle the backfield duties for New York. Of course, it's too late now to plug in Powell, but he's a great PPR option and may even be more versatile than Ivory. He'll be worth a look next week if Ivory is still injured.

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 17:43:04 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory had 22 carries for 101 yards and one catch for six yards in a 30-8 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory has been up and down in recent weeks, and he topped 100 yards for the first time since Week 6. With the Jets' passing attack firing on all cylinders, Ivory has become a matchup-dependent play at FantasyScore.

Jets | Chris Ivory mostly in neutral

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 19:55:50 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory carried 10 times for 47 yards in the Week 13 game against the New York Giants. He added five receptions for 22 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory totaled less than five yards per touch, so it wasn't a great fantasy performance and he did not find the end zone, either. The Jets face a Tennessee Titans rush defense which is 15th in the league, so Ivory should rebound rather nicely.

Jets | Chris Ivory to return to the big time?

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 22:13:01 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory will meet the Miami Dolphins in Week 12. In the first game with the Dolphins in Week 4 in London it was Ivory running for a season-best 166 yards with a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) is a must-start FantasyScore option since he will be facing the league's 31st-ranked rushing defense. Miami has allowed 138.6 yards per game with eight touchdowns allowed through 10 games.

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory had eight carries for 36 yards and one catch for nine yards in a 24-17 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory still led the team in carries, and the Jets didn't run the ball much as a team against a solid Houston front. Going forward, he should still be a strong RB2 at FantasyScore when the Jets draw a friendly matchup.

Jets | Chris Ivory uses acupuncture

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 15:06:35 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory has used acupuncture as part of his weekly rehab regimen. He has needles stuck in him twice a week in an effort to help him feel fresh and pain-free. Acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain, but it can also stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. Ivory first started using acupuncture with the Jets in 2013. He's already carried the ball 156 times this year for 643 yards and six touchdowns in eight games. New York is cautious not to overwork Ivory down the stretch. He's averaging 19.5 carries a game and 4.1 yards per carry in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) is so useful for fantasy owners because he guarantees you a healthy workload. He should see plenty of touches again in a nice matchup with the Houston Texans in Week 11. As long as he's healthy and serving as the workhorse runner, he's pretty safe in most fantasy formats.

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory had 18 carries for 99 yards and two catches for 36 yards in a 22-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) busted out after three poor games, and it could be a sign that he is back on track after the rough patch.

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 11:18:22 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (hamstring) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 11, and is probable for Week 10 Thursday, Nov. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) had 19.8 points on FantasyScore last week and faces a Bills team susceptible to opposing RBs the last five weeks. He's a high-end RB2.

Jets | Several key Jets fully practice

Tue, 10 Nov 2015 14:08:51 -0800

New York Jets WRs Eric Decker (knee) and Brandon Marshall (ankle, toe), QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) and RB Chris Ivory (hamstring) participated fully in practice Tuesday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets should have the core of their offense for Thursday night's tilt with the Buffalo Bills. Decker ($7,100, 14.2%) and Marshall ($7,600, 15.2%) have the most favorable matchup of the four players as the Bills allow 171.25 receiving yards per game to wide receivers. Ivory ($7,400, 14.8%) may have a harder time than usual finding room to run against a Buffalo rush defense that yields just 81.25 rushing yards per game to running backs.

Jets | Chris Ivory struggles -- sort of

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 14:11:05 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory rushed 23 times for just 26 yards in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he scored two touchdowns to salvage his fantasy value. Ivory added 22 yards on three receptions.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory has been a pleasant surprising in 2015, but recent injuries and struggles have forced fantasy players to question his role in their lineups. As long as he is touching the ball 20-plus times per game, Ivory is a must-start in all formats.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) is a low-end RB1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ridley ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) doesn't have a large enough role to use on FantasyScore.

Jets | Chris Ivory wants better OL play

Thu, 05 Nov 2015 15:43:47 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory said he believes the offensive line needs to do a better job blocking after being held to only 58 rushing yards in the last two games. "It starts up front," Ivory said. "We have to do a better job up front and just know our assignments. We prepared well this week. Maybe it will show out on the field." Ivory indicated loaded boxes and running more inside are part of the reason for his poor performances.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) was one of the best running backs in the NFL before the last two games where he averaged last that 2.5 yards per carry. Ivory should be a better option this week since the Jacksonville Jaguars allow the fourth most fantasy points to running backs this season.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) is really the only one to consider starting against the Jacksonville Jaguars this week. He's a low-end RB1 on FantasyScore.

Wed, 04 Nov 2015 14:53:35 -0800

New York Jets RBs Chris Ivory (hamstring) and Stevan Ridley (knee) both were full participants in practice Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) is the clear workhorse runner in this backfield, and he faces an excellent matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9. Pay up for him on FantasyScore. With many of the Jets offensive players injured this week, expect Ivory to have heavy usage. Ridley ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) can be ignored for now.

Jets | Chris Ivory, Stevan Ridley probable

Fri, 30 Oct 2015 15:43:25 -0700

New York Jets RBs Chris Ivory (hamstring) and Stevan Ridley (knee) both practiced in full Friday, Oct. 30, and are probable for Week 8 against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders continue to be a good matchup for running backs, especially for one like Ivory ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) that usually sees heavy workloads. He's a strong play on FantasyScore. It looks like this'll be Ridley's ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) first game active this year. While he could become the primary backup to Ivory, he should be avoided as we wait to see what kind of role he'll have in this backfield.

Jets | Another practice for Chris Ivory

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 16:36:54 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (hamstring) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) should be fine for Week 8 against the Raiders, and his hamstring isn't believed to be an issue anymore. The Raiders are giving up 27.0 PPR fantasy points per game to rushers, so Ivory makes for a pretty safe FantasyScore selection.

Jets | No restrictions for Stevan Ridley

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 14:58:00 -0700

New York Jets RB Stevan Ridley (knee) has no restrictions from the medical staff after being removed from the Physically Unable to Perform list last week. Ridley is a year removed from tearing ligaments in his knee and should be more than a bit player behind RB Chris Ivory when he returns to the field. Ivory's bruising running style makes Ridley's presence that much more important down the stretch.

Fantasy Tip: Ridley ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), not Bilal Powell or Zac Stacy, may be the primary handcuff for Chris Ivory owners now in traditional leagues. It's unclear how much time Ridley will see when he returns to action and this situation could be fluid. For now he has no daily value.

Jets | Chris Ivory says he's fine

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 12:31:32 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (hamstring) said he is feeling fine, and his tight hamstring is apparently a thing of the past.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) will be fine to play against the Oakland Raiders this weekend, and he should be ready for a bounce-back game. The Black and Silver allow 27.0 PPR fantasy points per game to running backs in 2015. Start Ivory with confidence on FantasyScore.
