Updating previous reports, Baltimore Orioles 3B Manny Machado (knee) had a hamstring tendon used to graft a replacement for the knee ligament, and he's expected to miss six months. That means he'll likely miss all of spring training and begin the season on the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: This will hinder his draft value significantly and could force him to be a non-factor for the first couple of months of the season.

Baltimore Orioles 3B Manny Machado (knee) has elected to have surgery to repair a torn medial patellafemoral ligament in his left knee. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, and Machado is expected to need four to six months of rehab.
Fantasy Tip: The good news is that Machado's torn ligament isn't an ACL, PCL or MCL. The bad news is that he could be finishing up his rehab right around the start of the regular season. It could easily affect his performance in the early portion of the season, too. Tread carefully, but know that Machado's price probably won't come down at all because of this.

Baltimore Orioles 3B Manny Machado (knee) is not dealing with a torn medial collateral ligament or anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He will be shut down for six to eight weeks with a torn medial patellar ligament and will seek a second opinion.
Fantasy Tip: Let out that sigh of relief, all of you Machado owners in keeper leagues. He's not out of the woods completely, though, until a second opinion is performed and he's re-evaluated in about a month. But it looks as though he should be ready for spring training next year, depending on how his rehab goes.
