Mets | Matt Harvey crushed by Nats

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 20:44:11 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey allowed five runs - four earned - over seven innings in a loss Monday, July 20, against the Washington Nationals. He also walked four times after entering with just three or more walks once in his career.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey ($9,000; or 18.0% of cap) entered with 13 scoreless innings against the Nats this season, and a career 0.68 ERA against them. He killed FantasyScore owners against a team he typically dominates. Consider this an anomaly until this becomes the rule and not the exception.

Mets | Matt Harvey struggling with control

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 17:11:46 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey has issued 12 walks over his past 15 innings part way through the game Monday, July 20, against the Washington Nationals. Harvey had walked 12 batters over his first 11 starts this season.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) has a walk rate of just 2.10 for the season, but he has allowed more than that in six consecutive starts. Owners don't have much choice other than to hope Harvey soon finds his control.

Mets | NYM to return to five-man rotation

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 17:50:44 -0700

The New York Mets have decided to revert back to a five-man rotation because the team did not want to commit to anyone as a spot starter, according to manager Terry Collins. This means SP Noah Syndergaard will start on regular rest against the Washington Nationals Wednesday, July 22, with SPs Matt Harvey and Jacob DeGrom starting against the Nats Monday, July 20, and Tuesday, July 21, respectively.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets had instituted the six-man rotation as a way to limit the innings of their young starters, although a return to the traditional five-man rotation appeared inevitable after SP Stephen Matz (lat) landed on the disabled list. Collins still plans to use spot starters down the line as a way to make sure the innings don't pile up as the season progresses.

Mets | Matt Harvey does it all

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 19:28:03 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey allowed two runs on five hits and struck out nine in a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday, July 11, and he hit his first career home run.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) has been pitching well over the past month, and more importantly, his posted an impressive strikeout total Saturday. He won't come cheap at FantasyScore, but if he piles up strikeouts in his first start after the All-Star break, he will deserve your attention.

Mets | Matt Harvey slumping

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 23:35:08 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey, who pitches Saturday, July 4, against the Los Angeles Dodgers, is 2-5 with a 3.29 ERA in his last 10 starts after going 5-0 with a 2.41 ERA in his first five starts.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) has stumbled as of late following a strong start. His strikeouts are pretty good, but a lack of wins has been the weakness. He's worth starting in FantasyScore contests, but have backups ready in case.

Reds | Marlon Byrd back in lineup

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 12:53:34 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Marlon Byrd will start in center field and bat fifth against SP Matt Harvey and the New York Mets Saturday, June 27.

Fantasy Tip: Byrd ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has been swinging the bat well recently. He's hit two homers in his last six games and has eight hits total in those six games. Harvey has pitched splendidly in his last two outings, which could bode poorly for Byrd, but he's a good starting option until he stops this hot streak he's on.

Mets | Matt Harvey in a rut

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 15:39:02 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey has a 7.20 ERA in his last four starts and has given up eight home runs in that span after allowing just seven home runs in 26 starts in 2013 before having Tommy John surgery. Former SP John Smoltz suggested to Mets manager Terry Collins that Harvey is experiencing a Tommy John hangover. Collins said he hopes that Smoltz can talk with Harvey about his current struggles.

Fantasy Tip: If there ever was a time to bench Harvey ($9,000, 18.0% of cap), this stretch would be it as he looks to regroup. If you payed up for him recently on FantasyScore, you've been seriously disappointed. For the time being, be cautious with him in daily games.

Mets | Rough patch for Matt Harvey

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 20:30:55 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey allowed seven earned runs, nine hits and two walks over six innings in a loss Wednesday, June 10, against the San Francisco Giants. He served up a career-high three homers in the loss, and he has given up eight homers since May 23, most of any pitcher in the majors during the span.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey ($9,000; or 18.0% of cap) hasnít come close to earning his FantasyScore salary lately, so it might be a good idea to get away from him for a couple of games until he irons out his problems.

Mets | Matt Harvey serves up taters

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 18:17:24 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey allowed three home runs in a single game for the first time in his career Wednesday, June 10, against the San Francisco Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) has given up 12 home runs on the season, matching his combined total from the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Harvey finished with nine hits, two walks and seven earned runs allowed in six innings pitched Wednesday. FantasyScore owners should avoid Harvey for his next scheduled start Monday, June 15, against the Toronto Blue Jays and the best offense in baseball.

Mets | Matt Harvey breaks losing streak

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 04:40:52 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey broke a three-game losing streak when he struck out nine batters Thursday, June 4, against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) just needed a bounce-back game after a miniature slump, and he got it. Harvey remains a must-start in all FantasyScore leagues and every other format.
