Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington said Saturday, March 29, that he has not yet decided his second base and designated hitter spots for opening day. Washington is trying to decide between either 2Bs Donnie Murphy or Joshua Wilson at second base, and between OF Michael Choice and 1B Mitch Moreland for the designated hitter spot.

Texas Rangers OF Jim Adduci has lost out in the battle for the fourth outfielder job to OF Michael Choice. He remains in camp, but is a left-handed hitter and the team wanted a right-handed hitter as their fourth outfielder.

The Texas Rangers signed Ps Lisalverto Bonilla, Cory Burns, Wilmer Font, Roman Mendez and Tanner Scheppers, INF Luis Sardinas and OFs Jim Adduci, Engel Beltre and Michael Choice to pre-arbitration deals Monday, Feb. 17. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

While the Texas Rangers have been looking for a right-handed bat, general manager Jon Daniels said "We're not talking to anybody" on the free agent market. The GM hinted that Texas would turn to internal options like Michael Choice as candidates to provide a right-handed hitting balance to DH Mitch Moreland.

The Texas Rangers acquired OF Michael Choice and INF Chris Bostick from the Oakland Athletics Tuesday, Dec. 3, in exchange for OF Craig Gentry and SP Josh Lindblom. Choice will be on the major league roster while Bostick has been assigned to Single-A Myrtle Beach. Choice was selected 10th overall in the 2010 draft by the Athletics and made his major league debut in September by going 5-for-18 (.278) in nine games. "Michael is a guy we followed in his amateur days literally down the block," general manager Jon Daniels said. "He has a chance to hit and hit for power, is athletic and can play all three outfield spots."
