Marlins | Christian Yelich locked in

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 20:35:39 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBI and two runs scored in a 5-3 loss to the New York Mets Friday, July 22, and he has three home runs in his last four games and has hit safely in all eight games since the All-Star break.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich's bat has been steady all year, and he deserves a long look in DFS formats while he has his power stroke working.

Marlins | Christian Yelich likes Philly

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 08:56:26 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich is hitting .366 (34-for-93) in 22 career games at Citizen's Bank Park, the home of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich went 6-for-19 (.316) with two homers and four RBI in the series against the Phils and is now hitting .318 on the season with nine homers, 52 RBI and four steals. His owners would like to see more power and steals, but you can't complain with the average as a mid-tier outfielder in all formats.

Marlins | Top of the lineup comes through for MIA

Mon, 04 Jul 2016 05:22:26 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto, 3B Martin Prado and OF Christian Yelich each had three hits in a 5-2 win over the Atlanta Braves.

Fantasy Tip: All three players have averages over .300 and slugging marks over .400, and Realmuto in particular is on a hot streak. He was moved to the top of the order for this game, and don't be surprised if you see that more often while his bat is hot.

Marlins | Miami getting calls about two OFs

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 19:47:34 -0700

The Miami Marlins are drawing trade inquiries about OFs Marcell Ozuna and Christian Yelich, but the team remains adamant that they will not trade players from their major league roster to upgrade their starting pitching, a source said Monday, June 20.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna and Yelich have been steady offensive producers for Miami, and it is hard to imagine they'd want to move either. Fantasy owners likely want to see both stay put, as they have everyday roles, and a move to a contender isn't a guarantee that they would continue to see the same amount of playing time.

Marlins | Two Fish sit against lefty

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 11:26:36 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich and 1B Justin Bour are out of the lineup Monday, June 20, with Colorado Rockies left-handed SP Jorge De La Rosa on the mound. OF Ichiro Suzuki is leading off, and 1B Chris Johnson is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki is hitting .425 this month, and he's a low-end option against De La Rosa. Johnson is hitting .245 overall, but he hits lefties better. He's a low-end consideration hitting behind Giancarlo Stanton.

Marlins | Christian Yelich's hit streak over

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 22:31:25 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich was hitless in three at-bats with an RBI and two walks Saturday, June 11, snapping his 10-game hitting streak in the process.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich is still hitting .362 (17-for-47) over the past 11 games with five runs scored and nine RBIs with a slugging percentage in excess of .500. He remains a high-quality fantasy option in most formats and DFS play despite the hitless night.

Marlins | Ichiro Suzuki draws into lineup

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 14:02:21 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki is starting in left field and is hitting leadoff against Minnesota Twins SP Pat Dean Tuesday, June 7. With the designated hitter in play in an American League park, OF Christian Yelich is serving as the DH and is batting third.

Fantasy Tip: Ichiro has turned back the clock this year and has been very productive in a limited role for the Fish. However, he doesn't typically fill out the stat sheet often for fantasy owners, which limits his daily value. And he's not overly attractive against a lefty arm, either.

Marlins | Christian Yelich back in the lineup

Sun, 29 May 2016 12:13:51 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (back) is in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran Sunday, May 29, and is batting third in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich has been out of the starting lineup for the last eight games but was used as a replacement in a few of the games. He will be a risky option in all leagues, and owners may want to see him play in a game or two before using him again.

Marlins | Two Miami OFs remain sidelined Saturday

Sat, 28 May 2016 10:08:32 -0700

Miami Marlins OFs Giancarlo Stanton (side) and Christian Yelich (back) remain out of the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Aaron Blair Saturday, May 28. OF Ichiro Suzuki will bat leadoff and play right field, while OF Cole Gillespie plays left field and bats seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton and Yelich are both considered day-to-day and could be used off the bench during this weekend's series but should be avoided in all fantasy formats as long as they aren't starting. Suzuki is hitting .407 (11-for-27) with two doubles and an RBI over the past week, while Gillespie is batting .313 (5-for-16) with a pair of doubles and four RBI over the same span. Both players are excellent sources of productive cap relief for daily fantasy contests.
