Marlins | Cole Gillespie not in the lineup

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 15:29:57 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Cole Gillespie is not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Jeremy Hellickson Tuesday, July 21. OF Christian Yelich will start in center field and is batting third, while OF Michael Morse will start in left field and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gillespie ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return soon. Morse ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has only four hits in his last 10 at-bats and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Marlins | Christian Yelich in prime spot

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 13:13:31 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich is hitting third for the second straight night Saturday, July 18.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is hitting .341-1-5 this month and has a decent matchup with Chad Billingsley. He seems to have a home for now in the third spot, and he's a midrange outfielder worth using on FantasyScore.

Marlins | Christian Yelich finding his way again

Wed, 15 Jul 2015 16:41:07 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich has a .345/.444/.476 slash line over his past 24 games with 15 runs, two home runs, seven RBI and three stolen bases.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) was a disaster to start the season, and after 45 games this season, he was sporting a .224/.290/.312 line. The recent run is more indicative of the player Yelich is, and he is a buy-low candidate entering the second half. FantasyScore players still shouldn't be overly excited about his prospects outside of extremely favorable matchups, though.

Marlins | Cole Gillespie starting Saturday

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 11:10:02 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Cole Gillespie will play center field and bat sixth against Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias Saturday, July 11. OF Christian Yelich, who started in center field Friday, will bat second and play left field Saturday.

Fantasy Tip: Gillespie ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is 7-for-22 with four doubles this month but should only be considered for FantasyScore lineups by cap-strapped owners. Yelich ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is batting .299 at Marlins Park this year and .310 overall during the month of July.

Marlins | Christian Yelich has a solid night

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 19:06:14 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI during the Marlins' 4-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox Tuesday, July 7.

Fantasy Tip: The three-hit showing improved Yelich's ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) hitting streak to nine games, as the young outfielder is beginning to turn the corner at the dish. Entering the game, Yelich had a .309/.381/.453 slash line with 22 runs, four home runs, 10 RBI and three stolen bases dating back to Sunday, May 24. He is in play for FantasyScore contests when facing a favorable opposing pitcher.

Marlins | Christian Yelich ties career high

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 20:46:19 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich tied a career high with four hits, scored a run and stole a base in a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday, June 27.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) hadn't had more than two hits in a game all year, and he is still hitting just .242. He needs to find more consistency at the plate before he is even worth considering at FantasyScore.

Marlins | Christian Yelich taking day off

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 11:33:12 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich is not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals left-handed SP Jaime Garcia Wednesday, June 24. OF Ichiro Suzuki is starting in left field and hitting second.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) hasn't had a bad season in a bench role, hitting .286 (42-for-147) with a home run and 11 RBI. He's also batting a remarkable .371 (13-for-35) against left-handers in 2015. Garcia has been good this year, but Suzuki makes for an interesting source of salary cap relief today if you want to go against the grain.

Marlins | Christian Yelich hitting third

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 07:44:14 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich is hitting third Wednesday, June 10, against Toronto Blue Jays SP Scott Copeland.

Fantasy Tip: It's a curious move considering Yelich is hitting just .217 on the season and .207 in June. At $3,600 (7.2% of cap), he's at a ripe price, but he needs to start paying dividends before using him on FantasyScore.

Marlins | Christian Yelich sitting out

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 13:16:24 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 3. OF Ichiro Suzuki will be the starting left fielder for the team.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) should return the starting lineup in the next day or two. Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is batting .370 against left-handed pitchers this season, which may be why he is in the starting lineup. Suzuki could be a cheaper option on FantasyScore if owners are looking to save some money.

Marlins | Christian Yelich sitting vs. Orioles

Fri, 22 May 2015 12:47:05 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich is not in the starting lineup against the Baltimore Orioles Friday, May 22. OF Ichiro Suzuki is batting seventh and playing left field Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has been an utter disappointment to date, and through 99 plate appearances, he has just three extra-base hits and a .236 slugging percentage. While there is plenty of upside for Yelich, desperate fantasy owners in shallow formats should at least explore alternative options. Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) offers little upside in all fantasy formats, and he should be viewed as nothing more than a source of cap relief by FantasyScore players.
