Marlins | Christian Yelich to miss another game

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 14:19:13 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (knee) is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann Saturday, Aug. 29. OF Derek Dietrich will start in left field and is batting fourth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has been sidelined for the last few days because of a knee injury, so owners should look for a possible timetable. Dietrich ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is hitting .263 with three home runs and 14 RBI this month and could be an option on FantasyScore.

Marlins | Christian Yelich set to miss time

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 16:35:12 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (knee) aggravated his bruised right knee while diving back to first base during the game Tuesday, Aug. 25. With rosters expanding in September, he is not expected to be placed on the disabled list, but he is liekly to miss the entirety of Miami's current six-game road trip.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is enduring a disappointing season, both in terms of injury and poor production. He is worth stashing in deep leagues, but you'll want to aim for an upgrade in the majority of leagues. The counting stats haven't been there to buoy his respectable .275 batting average, and he just isn't pushing the fantasy needle enough. Derek Dietrich ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) projects to see regular at-bats with Yelich out, but Dietrich isn't worth a roster spot outside deep mixed leagues.

Marlins | Christian Yelich has knee discomfort

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 18:29:24 -0700

Updating a previous report, Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (knee, shin, ankle) was left out of the lineup Thursday, Aug. 27, due to continued discomfort in his right knee. He also fouled a ball off his shin and ankle during an at-bat Wednesday, Aug. 26, which didn't help matters. "We knew it was going to be touch and go with it and, to his credit, he jumped back out there for a couple of days," manager Dan Jennings said. "So now we just need to let the flare go down."

Fantasy Tip: It's unknown if Yelich ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) will miss any additional games, although it should be noted that he didn't even take batting practice Thursday. Avoid using him in FantasyScore until he proves that he is completely healthy.

Marlins | Christian Yelich sitting vs. Pirates

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 12:58:32 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Aug. 27. OF Derek Dietrich is starting in left field and batting sixth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Yelich ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) in all formats Thursday. He has turned his season around and has a .303/.337/.404 slash line over 25 games since the All-Star break, but his counting stats are nothing to write home about (six runs, a home run, 10 RBI and six stolen bases). Dietrich ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) draws an unfavorable matchup, and he costs a pretty penny at FantasyScore. So, while he has been playing well of late, you should be able to find better value in his price range.

Marlins | Christian Yelich activated, starting

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 11:42:35 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (knee) was activated from the disabled list Tuesday, Aug. 25, and he's hitting sixth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Charlie Morton.

Fantasy Tip: Most daily gamers might be hesitant to use Yelich ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) in his first game off the shelf, but he was hitting well before being sidelined, and he does have five of his six home runs this season off right-handed pitchers. He's a contrarian play on FantasyScore if you're looking for a sneaky pick.

Marlins | Christian Yelich still sore

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 11:22:59 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (knee) still has soreness and swelling in his bruised knee that has prevented him from running. However, he has been taking batting practice.

Fantasy Tip: There remains no timetable for Yelich's ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) return from the DL, and he'll likely need at least a short rehab assignment before coming back. He has picked it up offensively after a slow first half of the season, so he deserves to be retained in all formats. Now that Marcell Ozuna is back from the minors, Ichiro Suzuki is likely to go back to a bench role when Yelich comes off the DL for the remainder of the year.

The Miami Marlins have placed OF Christian Yelich (knee) on the 15-day disabled list because of a right knee contusion. The move is retroactive to Monday, Aug. 10.

He will be eligible to return to action Aug. 25. Marcell Ozuna ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is expected to see regular playing time in the Marlins' outfield while Yelich is sidelined.

Marlins | Christian Yelich could miss STL series

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 18:53:21 -0700

It is uncertain if Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (knee) will play in this weekend's series against the St. Louis Cardinals, although manager Dan Jennings claims he can be used in an emergency as a pinch hitter. He is still sporting a bruise on his right knee and is having difficulty running due to swelling in the knee, although X-rays came back negative.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) had been hitting .387 over the previous seven games prior to getting injured. Since speed is a big part of his game, avoid using him in FantasyScore until he has proven that he is completely healthy.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna could be recalled

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 18:16:20 -0700

The Miami Marlins may recall OF Marcell Ozuna from Class AAA New Orleans this weekend, due to the injury to OF Christian Yelich (knee).

Fantasy Tip: Since his demotion to the minors, Ozuna is batting .302 with five home runs and 11 RBIs in 32 games. He should be stashed in NL-only leagues and monitored in deep mixed leagues.

Marlins | Christian Yelich scratched

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 14:25:28 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (knee) was scratched from the lineup with a right knee contusion Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) has picked it up offensively of late compared to earlier this season, and he's now hitting .275 (95-for-346) with six home runs, 29 RBI and 14 stolen bases. His injury doesn't sound serious, but keep an eye on his progress. He can be an acceptable value play on FantasyScore in the right matchups.
