Mets | Noah Syndergaard has 11-K outing

Sun, 22 May 2016 14:40:03 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard struck out 11 Milwaukee Brewer hitters Sunday, May 22, in a 3-1 victory. Syndergaard had no walks, extending his inning streak without a free pass to 18.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard has exploded on the Mets scene in a little over a year to become perhaps the team's top pitcher. The Brewers have their share of issues, but it doesn't matter in this case. Syndergaard is simply a top pitcher who should be started in all formats.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard masterful once again

Tue, 17 May 2016 19:26:31 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard picked up his fourth victory of the season Tuesday, May 17, against the Washington Nationals. It was arguably his best start of 2016, as he delivered seven shutout innings of five-hit ball, walking none and striking out 10.

Fantasy Tip: Simply put, Syndergaard is an absolute beast in fantasy and should continue to be one for many years to come. He now owns a 2.19 ERA along with 65 strikeouts in 53 1/3 innings, as he's been as consistent as any starter in the major leagues in just his second season. Keep starting him in all leagues with no hesitation every time he toes the rubber.

Nationals | Jayson Werth batting No. 2 Tuesday

Tue, 17 May 2016 13:16:53 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth will bat second Tuesday, May 17, against New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard. Werth has batted sixth in recent games.

Fantasy Tip: In an effort to get Anthony Rendon going, manager Dusty Baker switched Rendon and Werth in the lineup. Werth has four hits in his last five games, but he is .206-4-15 away from Nationals Park this season. Still, moving Werth up to the second spot will give him more chances to score or drive in runs, so take a flyer with Werth hitting this high in the lineup.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon dropped to sixth

Tue, 17 May 2016 13:07:01 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon is hitting sixth in the lineup Tuesday, May 17, against New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard.

Fantasy Tip: Although Rendon is hitting .318 in the past week and has a .429 mark this year against Syndergaard, overall it hasn't been a good season. Rendon is hitting .203 this month and .195 against opponents on the road. By going into a lower spot, the team hopes some of the pressure is taken off of Rendon. For now, Remdon carries little fantasy value.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard had elbow checked out

Thu, 12 May 2016 06:20:18 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard (elbow) had his right elbow examined May 2 after a poor start, according to manager Terry Collins. Syndergaard was cleared, but Collins pulled him after eight innings Wednesday, May 11, because of the scare.

Fantasy Tip: For the most part, it's a non-issue. If you're in head-to-head leagues that award points for complete games, it's unlikely that Thor will hook you up there. He has a 2.53 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 55 K's in 46 1/3 innings, but you can expect his innings to be tapered as we progress this season. He's still a daily consideration whenever his turn comes up in DFS.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard has a game to remember

Wed, 11 May 2016 23:12:53 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard tied a career-high with eight innings pitched and hit two home runs in his win over the Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday, May 11. He allowed two runs on six hits and a walk while fanning six.

Fantasy Tip: If only you could use his two homers and four RBI for your fantasy team. Thor's numbers are filthy with a 2.53 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 55 K's in 46 1/3 innings. He's a SP1 consideration whenever his turn comes around.

Mets | Rene Rivera to be paired with Thor

Wed, 11 May 2016 16:11:47 -0700

New York Mets C Rene Rivera will be the personal catcher for SP Noah Syndergaard for the foreseeable future in order to control the running game.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard's slow move toward home plate leaves him vulnerable to stolen bases. While that won't affect him too negatively in terms of fantasy value as an ace, it can put him in tough situations with runners in scoring position often. Thor remains a must-start, but consider using sleeper options for steals against him in daily formats.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard has decent outing

Sat, 07 May 2016 05:31:42 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard allowed two runs on six hits in six innings against the San Diego Padres Friday, May 6, to suffer his second loss of the season. He struck out five batters and walked two during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard has pitched well during the early part of the season and has allowed at least four runs in only one of his starts. He is scheduled to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in his next start and could be a decent fantasy option in most leagues.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard slow to the plate

Mon, 02 May 2016 10:59:24 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard has trouble holding runners because of his slow delivery to the plate, and opposing basestealers are 12-for-13 off him this year. The San Francisco Giants stole three bases off Syndergaard in his outing Sunday, May 1. He's on pace to allow 78 steals over 30 starts.

Fantasy Tip: Thor remains one of the best young pitchers in baseball despite his struggles keeping runners close. It shouldn't affect his fantasy value at all, although it could lead to more runs being scored off of him in certain situations. Despite the loss Sunday, Syndergaard is a must-start in all matchups.

Mets | Giants stop Noah Syndergaard's thunder

Sun, 01 May 2016 14:13:27 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard endured his worst outing of the season on Sunday, May 1, against the San Francisco Giants, giving up four runs on five hits and a pair of walks across 5 2/3 innings en route to his first loss of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard did strike out six, but he hasn't been quite the dominant pitcher in either of his last two starts that he was over his first three outings, when he went 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA. Thor stands an outstanding chance of putting the hammer down in his next turn, however, as he gets the San Diego Padres in PETCO Park on Friday.
