Rays | Two Rays park it on the bench

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 06:36:38 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson (thumb) and 1B Logan Morrison are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 29, with OF Desmond Jennings moving up to hit cleanup and 2B Tim Beckham hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Jennings is hitting .261 this month, which is a step above his .202 average for the season. However, he's facing David Price today. He has upside at cleanup, but it's a risk. Beckham isn't worth consideration.

Rays | Corey Dickerson available off bench

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 20:51:01 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson (thumb) missed his third straight start Tuesday, June 28, against the Boston Red Sox, but he was available off the bench as a pinch hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Dickerson appears likely to avoid the 15-day disabled list, but fantasy owners and DFS players will want to avoid him until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.

Rays | Corey Dickerson out Tuesday

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 12:26:45 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson (thumb) will miss another game Tuesday, June 28, due to a sore left thumb. 2B Nick Franklin will take Dickerson's designated hitter spot and bat eighth against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello.

Fantasy Tip: Dickerson shouldn't need the DL, but fantasy owners will miss his power production. Although he has a .209 batting average, Dickerson does have 13 home runs this season. Bench him for the time being until this is resolved. Franklin went 3-for-5 in the Monday, June 27, game and might be worth a DFS start.

Rays | Corey Dickerson feeling better

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 21:12:16 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson (thumb) said Monday, June 27, that the swelling and soreness in his left thumb has subsided enough for him to take batting practice in an indoor cage.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain how much longer Dickerson will be sidelined, but he is making some progress. When healthy he is only worth a look in AL play and DFS as a salary saver option.

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson is not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez Monday, June 27. 2B Nick Franklin will serve as the designated hitter and is batting eighth.

Rays | Brad Miller will serve as DH

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 08:13:18 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Brad Miller will serve as the designated hitter in the first game of a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, June 25. OF Corey Dickerson will start in left field, while SS Tim Beckham will start at shortstop and is batting sixth against Orioles SP Kevin Gausman.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham is hitting .231 with one home run and three RBI in limited playing time this month. Owners should be able to find better options to use.

Rays | Corey Dickerson climbs lineup

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 12:34:56 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson is batting second as the designated hitter against Baltimore Orioles SP Yovani Gallardo Friday, June 24. SS Brad Miller is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Dickerson receives a slight boost jumping up the lineup, especially in daily contests. However, he sports an underwhelming .196/.258/.393 slash line in June and is a low-end fantasy option in all formats. His power upside is hindered by his lack of production in the other categories. Miller has been hitting second most nights, so the lineup swap just provides him with more RBI chances and likely fewer opportunities to score runs. He's still nothing more than a fringe starter in deep mixed and AL-only leagues, though.

Rays | Logan Forsythe will be DH

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 13:43:14 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe will serve as the designated hitter against Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer Wednesday, June 22. OF Corey Dickerson will start in left field, while OF Taylor Motter will start in right field. 2B Nick Franklin will start at second base and is batting eighth. OF Jaff Decker is not in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe is hitting .260 with one home run and three RBI since returning from his injury. He should be a decent starting option for most owners. Dickerson should be an attractive player for owners looking for power, while Motter can be avoided in most leagues. Franklin has had only one at-bat since being recalled and is not a strong option at this point.

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 08:05:38 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson and SS Brad Miller are out of the lineup Thursday, June 16, with SS Tim Beckham hitting sixth and OF Jaff Decker hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Decker and Beckham aren't good DFS options against lefty James Paxton.

Rays | Corey Dickerson sitting vs. Houston

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 07:20:59 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson is not in the starting lineup Sunday, June 12. OF Mikie Mahtook is starting in left field and batting second against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Dickerson's 11 home runs are the only thing buoying his fantasy value right now, as he sits with a disastrous .194/.241/.439 slash line for the season. At this point, he's tough to roster. Mahtook owns a career .293/.356/.622 line against southpaws and is a potential low-priced flier in daily contests Sunday.
