Marlins | Jarred Cosart has vertigo

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 21:35:34 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (dizziness) visited doctors Sunday, July 19, and he was told the dizziness he experienced in his recent minor-league outing could be attributed to vertigo. "They're going to run some more tests and we should have the results of that a little later in the week," manager Dan Jennings said Monday, July 20.

Fantasy Tip: The return of Cosart is uncertain until the exact source and severity of his injury is determined.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart to be examined

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 16:41:43 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (dizziness) will see a doctor Sunday, July 19, after experience renewed dizziness in his start at Class AAA New Orleans Friday, July 17. Manager Dan Jennings said it might be a case of dehydration, but Cosart had a bout of vertigo earlier this year.

Fantasy Tip: Cosart is worth stashing in NL-only formats, but he's not a mixed league option right now.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart optioned

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 19:26:06 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart was optioned to Class AAA New Orleans Saturday, July 4. In a corresponding move, 1B Michael Morse (finger) will be reinstated from the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Cosart's ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) numbers had been declining since a decent start to the year, so the move was not a surprise. However, Morse ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) hasn't done much to deserve the attention of FantasyScore owners either.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart shelled in return

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 19:14:01 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart returned to the rotation and allowed seven runs on four hits and three walks in 1 2/3 in a loss to the Chicago Cubs Saturday, July 4.

Fantasy Tip: Cosart ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) was decent out of the bullpen in his initial return from a bout with vertigo, but his return to the rotation did not go well. He has seen his ERA balloon to 5.36 over the last couple of months, and he needs to be avoided at FantasyScore until further notice.

Marlins | Jose Urena taken out of rotation

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 17:41:54 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jose Urena has been removed from the starting rotation, in order to make room for SP Jarred Cosart, who will start against the Chicago Cubs Saturday, July 4.

Fantasy Tip: Urena ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) was 1-4 with a 4.04 ERA through seven starts. He is expected to stick around with the parent club as a reliever but unless you are competing in a deep NL-only fantasy league, you can cut ties with him now.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart returning to rotation

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 17:32:00 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart will re-enter the starting rotation Saturday, July 4, against the Chicago Cubs. He was activated from the disabled list Thursday, June 25, but had been pitching out of the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Cosart ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) had been sidelined for a month due to vertigo, so Miami decided to ease him back into action by using him out of the bullpen. FantasyScore owners may want to avoid using him Saturday because he is likely to be on a pitch count as he transitions back to starting.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart shifting to bullpen

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 14:55:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (vertigo) is expected to pitch out of the bullpen upon his activation from the disabled list Thursday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: Cosart ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is safe to drop in the majority of fantasy leagues, and he won't be worth FantasyScore consideration until he returns to the rotation and proves himself in a start or two. Cosart is a NL-only and cavernous mixed league option only.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart likely to be activated

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 17:46:19 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (vertigo) is likely to be activated from the disabled list Thursday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: Cosart ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) owns a 4.08 ERA and a walk rate of 3.18 batters per nine innings through seven starts this season. Cosart hasn't been able to stay in the rotation long enough to get going this season, and FantasyScore owners will need to see a couple of strong starts before taking Cosart under consideration.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart to make rehab start Tuesday

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 11:09:58 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (head) is expected to make his final rehab start for Class AAA New Orleans Tuesday, June 16.

Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen when Cosart ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) will make his next start for the Fish and it is not yet known who will be pulled out of the rotation. He is still worthy of being stashed in NL-only leagues but he should be left on the waiver wire in mixed leagues.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart has rocky outing

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 18:36:58 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (head) allowed four earned runs on six hits and three walks while fanning five in five extended spring training innings Saturday, June 6. Cosart said he felt well afterwards.

Fantasy Tip: He'll probably receive at least one more rehab start before returning. He's an NL-only stash, but he's not worth owning in mixed leagues.
