Marlins | Jarred Cosart shifting to bullpen

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 14:55:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (vertigo) is expected to pitch out of the bullpen upon his activation from the disabled list Thursday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: Cosart ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is safe to drop in the majority of fantasy leagues, and he won't be worth FantasyScore consideration until he returns to the rotation and proves himself in a start or two. Cosart is a NL-only and cavernous mixed league option only.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart likely to be activated

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 17:46:19 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (vertigo) is likely to be activated from the disabled list Thursday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: Cosart ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) owns a 4.08 ERA and a walk rate of 3.18 batters per nine innings through seven starts this season. Cosart hasn't been able to stay in the rotation long enough to get going this season, and FantasyScore owners will need to see a couple of strong starts before taking Cosart under consideration.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart to make rehab start Tuesday

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 11:09:58 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (head) is expected to make his final rehab start for Class AAA New Orleans Tuesday, June 16.

Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen when Cosart ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) will make his next start for the Fish and it is not yet known who will be pulled out of the rotation. He is still worthy of being stashed in NL-only leagues but he should be left on the waiver wire in mixed leagues.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart has rocky outing

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 18:36:58 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (head) allowed four earned runs on six hits and three walks while fanning five in five extended spring training innings Saturday, June 6. Cosart said he felt well afterwards.

Fantasy Tip: He'll probably receive at least one more rehab start before returning. He's an NL-only stash, but he's not worth owning in mixed leagues.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart to DL

Mon, 18 May 2015 19:46:11 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (head) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday, May 18, due to vertigo. The move was made retroactive to May 14. SP Tom Koehler will start Tuesday, May, 19, against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Cosart ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) can be dropped wherever he is owned. Cosart isn't much more than occasionally being worthy of streaming, and FantasyScore owners should wait for a positive matchup a few starts after Cosart's return from the DL.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart throws bullpen session

Sat, 16 May 2015 11:41:10 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (hamstring) experienced no issues while throwing a bullpen session Saturday, May 16.

Fantasy Tip: Cosart ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) may be healthy enough to make his next start against the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday, May 19. Despite the good news, he is still considered a risky play in all fantasy formats and FantasyScore owners will probably want to see how he fares in his next outing before deciding when to use him again.

Marlins | Jarred Cosart undergoes MRI

Fri, 15 May 2015 13:18:28 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (hamstring) underwent an MRI exam on his right hamstring and is awaiting results. Manager Mike Redmond said it was more of a cramp issue for Cosart, but the team would know more after he throws a bullpen session Saturday, May 16.

Fantasy Tip: Cosart ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) might not even be in danger of missing his next start, however, he would have to be viewed as a risky play in all formats. Continue to check back for updates. Cosart has flashed upside in the past, but he has allowed four earned runs in consecutive starts and his lack of strikeouts (career 5.5 K/9) limits his fantasy upside.

Marlins | Tight hamstring for Jarred Cosart

Wed, 13 May 2015 19:08:52 -0700

Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart (hamstring) left his start against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to tightness in his right hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: The severity of Cosart's injury is not yet known. If he misses time it might make the team's decision on Henderson Alvarez easier, as they are trying to decide whether he'll be activated Sunday or need another rehab start. If Cosart is forced to the DL, it would be good news for Tom Koehler and David Phelps, as they were candidates to be bumped upon Alvarez's return.
