Rockies | Corey Dickerson placed on disabled list

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 19:09:17 -0700

The Colorado Rockies have placed OF Corey Dickerson (foot) on the 15-day disabled list due to continuing inflammation in his left foot. There is no timetable for his return but he is not expected to undergo surgery. In corresponding moves, RP Justin Miller was called up from the minors and SP Jordan Lyles (toe) was transferred from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Dickerson ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) was placed on the disabled list last month because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot and had returned to action less than a week ago. His swing was not affected but he was running at less than full speed. Look for Brandon Barnes ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) to see more playing time in Dickerson's absence.

Rockies | Jordan Lyles set for season-ending surgery

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 14:11:46 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jordan Lyles (toe) will have season-ending surgery to repair the medial capsular ligament and capsule in his left big toe.

Fantasy Tip: Expect a starter for the game against the Miami Marlins Saturday, June 6, to be announced soon. Chris Rusin is an option. Whoever it is, though, should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation add in NL-only leagues, and potential matchup flier for FantasyScore players.

Rockies | Jordan Lyles might require surgery

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 18:22:46 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jordan Lyles (toe) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday, June 1, due to a torn toe ligament. He will visit a foot specialist Tuesday, June 2, to determine if surgery is needed to repair the tear. The team recalled P Tommy Kahnle from Class AAA Albuquerque to take his roster spot.

Fantasy Tip: With Lyles down for the count, Chris Rusin is considered the likely candidate to move into the vacant rotation spot. He is worth a speculative pick in NL-only play if you’re desperate for starting pitching, and he is also worth monitoring in FantasyScore when the matchup is favorable.

Rockies | Jordan Lyles to miss start, DL likely?

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 16:51:44 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jordan Lyles (toe) will miss his next start after leaving the game with an injury for the third time in his last four starts Sunday, May 31. He'll also likely require a trip to the disabled list, although the team won't confirm it yet. "I tried to get out of the way and when I pushed off, I over-extended the joint," Lyles said. "Same as last start." Lyles was replaced by SP Chris Rusin, who pitched four innings without allowing an earned run, and he'd be the obvious choice to replace Lyles in the rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Between his injuries and poor performance, there's no reason to hang onto Lyles ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) in shallow mixed leagues anymore. Rusin is worth a speculative pickup in NL-only leagues but is strictly a matchup play as a sleeper on FantasyScore if he takes Lyles' rotation spot.

Rockies | Jordan Lyles injured

Sun, 31 May 2015 15:10:55 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jordan Lyles (toe) was injured in his start Sunday, May 31, and had to leave the game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Lyles left the game with an injury to his left big toe, and SP Chris Rusin took his place.

Fantasy Tip: No announcement was made whether Lyles ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) will have to miss any time, but monitor this situation and see what happens. Lyles has been especially brittle as of late, and that has cost him some fantasy value. Rusin didn't do a bad job in his previous outings, so he may not make a bad emergency replacement.

Rockies | Jordan Lyles pushed back

Tue, 26 May 2015 14:18:45 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jordan Lyles (toe) will have his next start pushed back because of a left big toe sprain, but he will not need to go on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Lyles ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has allowed at least four runs in each of his three full starts in May, and he should be avoided at FantasyScore until he can turn things around and prove he's past his toe issue. You can drop him in shallow mixed leagues for now.

Rockies | Jordan Lyles expects to make start

Thu, 14 May 2015 05:09:59 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jordan Lyles (hand) is expected to make his next start Monday, May 18, against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fantasy Tip: Lyles ($3,500, 7.0% of your cap) is dealing with a contusion to his pitching hand, so it might affect him gripping the baseball. We'd probably steer clear on FantasyScore, despite a solid matchup.

Rockies | Jordan Lyles injured

Thu, 14 May 2015 04:44:04 -0700

Updating a previous report, Colorado Rockies SP Jordan Lyles (forearm) underwent X-rays after being hit by a comebacker Wednesday, May 13, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Lyles had a swelled hand, but X-rays showed no breaks.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Lyles ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has no breaks, he still may have to miss a start if that forearm hasn't healed properly. Be prepared to stash him in regular leagues and monitor his progress in the daily ones.

Rockies | Jordan Lyles hit by comebacker

Wed, 13 May 2015 20:53:18 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jordan Lyles (forearm) was forced from his start Wednesday, May 14, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim after taking a liner off of his right forearm.

Fantasy Tip: Lyles was replaced by Christian Bergman to start the second inning. The severity of Lyles' injury is not yet known, but there were reports he suffered instant swelling, so it sounds like he could miss time.

Rockies | Jordan Lyles fixes mechanics in win

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 16:38:18 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jordan Lyles resisted the urge to fall toward first base on his fastballs in his impressive start and win over the San Diego Padres Thursday, April 23. It gave him better control, and he held the Padres to one run and six hits in 6 2/3 innings. Lyles walked two and struck out four in the outing.

Fantasy Tip: Lyles ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has been very impressive to start the 2015 season, and he should be owned in all standard fantasy leagues at this point. An efficient outing in a hitter's park against one of the better offenses in the league Thursday will put him on the FantasyScore radar moving forward.
