Nationals | Stephen Strasburg scratched again

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 16:46:04 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (back) was scratched Sunday, June 26, with discomfort in his back. SP Tanner Roark will start on normal rest.

Fantasy Tip: Roark has a good matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers for DFS usage. Stay tuned to see how long Strasburg is expected to miss.

Nationals | Tanner Roark continues Padres mastery

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 23:50:12 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark won his third straight start against the Padres and improved to 6-4 overall with an 8-5 win on Thursday, June 16. Roark went six innings, surrendered four runs and seven hits, walked two and struck out five.

Fantasy Tip: Roark has been a decent pitcher this season, but he may best be played in DFS formats to take advantage of matchups. It's clear he has mastered the San Diego Padres, so daily owners would have a leg up on the competition.

Nationals | Tanner Roark silences Phillies

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 12:53:10 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark bounced back from a poor outing to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies for the second time in three starts Saturday, June 11, striking out seven over as many scoreless innings.

Fantasy Tip: Roark has faced Philadelphia three times this season and worked exactly seven frames in every outing, holding the Phillies scoreless twice and allowing two runs in the other turn. The 29-year-old gets another favorable matchup at Petco Park against the San Diego Padres on Thursday, and is a highly recommended fantasy start for that contest.

Nationals | Tanner Roark suffers hard-luck loss

Wed, 25 May 2016 17:31:48 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark (3-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits over seven innings in a loss to the New York Mets Wednesday, May 25, with two walks and five strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Roark has a losing record despite a respectable 2.71 ERA over 10 starts thanks to a lack of run support from his teammates. He has a favorable matchup against the weak-hitting Philadelphia Phillies in his next scheduled start Monday, May 30.

Nationals | Tanner Roark defeats Miami Friday

Fri, 20 May 2016 19:20:26 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark (3-3) allowed one run on six hits over 6 2/3 innings in a victory over the Miami Marlins Friday, May 20, with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Roark defeated the Marlins for the first time in four tries this season. Prior to tonight's win, he had gone 0-3 with an 8.40 ERA versus the Fish in 2016, while going 2-0 with an 0.79 ERA in five starts against the rest of the league. He should be viewed as a viable pitching option versus the New York Mets Wednesday, May 25.

Nationals | Tanner Roark holds Cubs in check

Sun, 08 May 2016 19:03:00 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark allowed one unearned run on four hits while walking two and striking out seven over six innings in a no-decision against the Chicago Cubs Sunday, May 8.

Fantasy Tip: Roark continued his impressive season, and he has allowed zero earned runs in four of his seven starts while averaging nearly one strikeout per inning. If he is still on waivers in your league, grab him now.

Nationals | Tanner Roark strong once again

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 16:29:39 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark churned out another strong start Thursday, April 28, against the Philadelphia Phillies. He registered seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits, two walks and struck out six. He ended up with a no-decision, however.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Roark has turned back the clock to 2014, when he won 15 ballgames in his first full major league season. He actually might be in even better form right now, as he now holds a 2.03 ERA to go with 30 strikeouts in 31 total innings of work. Additionally, three of his five outings have seen the right-hander yield zero runs in seven innings. He should not be available on any waiver wires, as Roark is dialed in and has potential to win a considerable amount of games while pitching for the Nationals.

Nationals | Tanner Roark baffles Twins

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 13:34:52 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark turned in one of the most dominant pitching performances of the season Saturday, April 23, fanning a career-high 15 over seven innings in a win over the Minnesota Twins.

Fantasy Tip: To put this 121-pitch effort into some perspective, Roark had struck out a total of nine batters over 17 innings in his three previous outings. It also marks only the second time in 52 career starts he has fanned more than seven batters (previous career high was 11 in 2014). Roark should be owned in just about every league already and should provide owners with a fair number of wins this season, although the St. Louis Cardinals are unlikely to roll over as easily as the Twins did in his next scheduled start Friday.

Nationals | Tanner Roark victorious Wednesday

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 18:21:37 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark (1-1) allowed four hits over seven scoreless innings in a victory over the Atlanta Braves Wednesday, April 13, with three walks and four strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Roark was originally scheduled to pitch Thursday, April 14, but moved up in the rotation one day after SP Stephen Strasburg (illness) was scratched. He will make his next start versus the Miami Marlins next week and is worth considering as a second starter in daily fantasy games.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg scratched

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 11:25:25 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (illness) is being scratched from his start against the Atlanta Braves with an illness Wednesday, April 13. SP Tanner Roark will start in Strasburg's place.

Fantasy Tip: Bad timing for Stras, as he was set for a nice matchup against the winless Braves. Roark doesn't do anything particularly well but does yield plenty of ground balls and has nice control. That could go a long way as a value play as your second daily starter Tuesday.
