Phillies | Three Phils out Wednesday

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 06:52:42 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche, SS Freddy Galvis and OF Peter Bourjos (shoulder) are out of the lineup Wednesday, July 27. OF Tyler Goeddel, 2B Taylor Featherston and OF Jimmy Paredes are hitting sixth, seventh and eighth.

Fantasy Tip: You're really trying to catch lightning in a bottle if you're looking for a basement play here. Paredes has the most upside because of his work in Baltimore last year. However, he has a .207-2-8 line in 82 at-bats. He faces lefty Adam Conley today and is the only of the three to have some fantasy merit.

Phillies | Cody Asche sitting vs. Miami

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 12:18:29 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 20. OF Jimmy Paredes is starting in right field and batting sixth against Miami Marlins SP Wei-Yin Chen Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Asche is best left to cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues at this point. He's returned from injury to post 14 runs, four home runs, 17 RBI and a .244/.317/.433 slash line over 40 games. It's hardly target-worthy production in most fantasy leagues. Paredes has only received 77 plate appearances this season and owns a .233/.273/.397 slash line. He's best avoided in all fantasy formats Wednesday.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera out with foot issue

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 17:08:13 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera (foot) is not in the lineup against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, July 9. OF Peter Bourjos will bat leadoff and play center field against SP Tyler Anderson, and OF Jimmy Paredes will play right field and bat fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Batting atop the lineup, Bourjos could be worth a flier in DFS formats. He is hitting .333 against lefties this season.

Phillies | Three Phils sitting out Saturday

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 15:56:38 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera, OF Cody Asche and 2B Cesar Hernandez are out of the lineup Saturday, June 25. OF Peter Bourjos leads off with 2B Andres Blanco hitting fifth and OF Jimmy Paredes hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Bourjos is hitting .375 this month and hits lefties to a .327 clip. Madison Bumgarner isn't your typical lefty, but Bourjos has upside tonight. Blanco has minimal fantasy intrigue, but Paredes doesn't at this point.

Phillies | Philadelphia resting four players

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 09:12:05 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Tommy Joseph, C Cameron Rupp, 2B Cesar Hernandez and OF Peter Bourjos are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke Saturday, June 18. 2B Andres Blanco will start at second base and is batting third. 1B Ryan Howard will start at first base and is batting fourth. OF Jimmy Paredes will start in right field and is batting fifth, while C Carlos Ruiz will start at catcher and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco, Howard and Ruiz are all hitting less than .200 over the last seven days and probably should be avoided in most fantasy leagues. Paredes is performing a little better at the plate over that span, but owners should be able to find better options for their lineups.

Phillies | Jimmy Paredes, Tyler Goeddel draw starts

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 11:55:42 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OFs Jimmy Paredes and Tyler Goeddel are in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ Thursday, June 16. Paredes is in right field and is hitting sixth, while Goeddel is starting in left field and batting seventh. OFs Cody Asche and Peter Bourjos will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Both Paredes and Goeddel have become outfield depth for the Phillies and see occasional starts. Paredes has a home run and five RBI in 27 at-bats for the Phils, while Goeddel is hitting .244 (30-for-123) with three long balls and 11 RBI. Both are limited somewhat offensively and qualify as deep sleepers in daily leagues.

Phillies | Tyler Goeddel out again

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 10:23:01 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Tyler Goeddel is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross Sunday, June 12. OF Jimmy Paredes will start in right field and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Paredes has been a bit inconsistent at the plate since being acquired by the Phillies and has four hits in his last 12 games. Owners should avoid him for the time being because there likely are better players available to use.

Phillies | Jimmy Paredes not starting Tuesday

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 12:59:50 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Jimmy Paredes is not starting Tuesday, June 7, against the Chicago Cubs. OF Tyler Goeddel is in the lineup and hitting sixth against Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks.

Fantasy Tip: Although Paredes is 4-for-13 since joining Philadelphia, the team is trying him out with Goeddel in a platoon situation. Paredes is getting a simple night off. With Goeddel hitting .176 in the last week, this job may be Paredes' to lose in the future. Goeddel carries little fantasy value, and Peter Bourjos could also lose at-bats as well.

Phillies | Tyler Goeddel, Carlos Ruiz out

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 09:08:42 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Tyler Goeddel and C Carlos Ruiz are not in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta Sunday, June 5. OF Jimmy Paredes will bat fifth and play right field, while C Cameron Rupp starts behind the plate and bats sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Rupp is batting .320 with four doubles, two homers and seven RBI over his last 50 at-bats and makes a solid value play in daily contests. Paredes has struck out in six of his nine at-bats since joining the Phils and should be avoided.
