Dodgers | Joc Pederson struggles in return

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 17:26:52 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson returned to the lineup after a two-game absence and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in a 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Sunday, Aug. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has struck out in 10 of his last 13 at-bats, and he leads the NL with 128 overall. He has just three RBI since the All-Star break and is too expensive to use at FantasyScore while he works through a slump.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson remains out Saturday

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 09:58:35 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson is out of the starting lineup for the second consecutive day Saturday, Aug. 1, against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Andrew Heaney. OF Enrique Hernandez will start in center field again and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: The Dodgers are facing another left-handed starter, which explains Pederson's ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) absence from the lineup. Hernandez ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) went 2-for-3 with a double Friday, and is an excellent source of cap relief for FantasyScore owners.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson not in lineup

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 17:12:24 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Friday, July 31. OF Enrique Hernandez will start in center field and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) finds himself riding the pine tonight due to the fact that the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Hernandez ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is batting .346 with four RBIs during the month of July and can be viewed in FantasyScore as a productive means of salary cap relief.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson bumped down the order

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 15:44:08 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson is batting seventh against Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez Wednesday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) is batting .185 with a .622 OPS, 15 runs, four home runs and 10 RBI over his past 36 games. The rookie has hit the wall, and he is currently likely overpriced at FantasyScore. It would be wise to look elsewhere. Still, those looking to go contrarian could chase upside with Pederson.

Reds | Todd Frazier wins HR Derby

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 20:18:34 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 3B Todd Frazier won the 2015 Home Run derby Monday, July 13, edging out Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson. He became the second hometown player to win the event.

Fantasy Tip: Frazier rolled into the All-Star break with 25 homers, but oddly enough he had zero with just three RBIs in 39 at-bats in the month of July.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson struggling entering break

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 12:24:09 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson has a .196 batting average with just 10 runs, three home runs, seven RBI and no stolen bases over his past 29 games and 116 plate appearances. He is also sporting a 28.4% strikeout rate during the span.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) hasn't been living up to his hefty FantasyScore cap hit, as he is reeling at the dish entering the All-Star break. In yearly leagues, it isn't out of the question to sell high on Pederson. His struggles could easily continue into the second half because of his propensity for striking out.

Brewers | Ryan Braun added to All-Star team

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 13:36:05 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun has been named to the National League All-Star team as an injury replacement for St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday (quadriceps). Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson will replace Holliday in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Braun ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) was batting .272 with 15 homers and 55 RBIs entering play Sunday, July 12, and is making his first All-Star appearance since being suspended for using steroids during the 2013 season. Pederson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) entered play Sunday hitting .230 with 20 home runs and 40 RBIs.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson an Adam Dunn clone?

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 11:35:28 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson, who is currently in a slump, could become the only player his age (23) or younger with 450-plus plate appearances who has walked in more than 16% of his plate appearances, struck out in more than 28% of them and homered in more than 5% of them. His slash line of .231/.367/.493 looks very similar to former DH Adam Dunn's career line of .237/.364/.490. Pederson has more speed than Dunn did, though, although he's just 2-for-7 in stolen base attempts after stealing 30 bags in the minors last year. Pederson is pulling 44.9% of his pitches this year, and Dunn had a mark of 47.6% in his career.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has been one of the most impressive rookies in 2015, with 20 home runs and 49 RBI before the halfway point. His fantasy owners love the long balls and runs driven in, but his .231 average is a sore spot, and with a league-leading 101 strikeouts, that doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon. Pederson's all-or-nothing swing style could cause prolonged slumps and headaches for his owners.

Dodgers | Yasiel Puig, Joc Pederson flopped

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 16:27:57 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OFs Yasiel Puig and Joc Pederson flopped lineups spots against Philadelphia Phillies left-handed SP Adam Morgan Wednesday, July 8. Puig is now leading off and Pederson is hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Puig ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) hasn't done much at the plate recently, but a move to leadoff could spark him, especially since he's hit .333 (9-for-27) with a home run against lefties. Pederson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) loses some daily luster being dropped in the order, and he's hit just .228 (13-for-57) with three of his 20 home runs against left-handers this year. It's a night to consider avoiding Pederson and running with Puig.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson will participate in derby

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 16:14:30 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson will take part in the Home Run Derby as part of the All-Star festivities next week.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has been one of the most impressive rookies in 2015, hitting 20 home runs and driving in 39 for a .230 average (65-for-282). One has to wonder how participating in this event at such a young age might affect his swing in the second half of the season, though. He does have 100 strikeouts on the season and has seen his average drop off in recent weeks.
