Dodgers | Joc Pederson has three-hit game

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 23:16:48 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Saturday, June 18, against the Milwaukee Brewers. He also stole his fourth base of the season. Pederson has hit in eight straight games.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson struggled mightily in late May and early June, but he is starting to recover. Since June 8 he has raised his average from .221 to .238, hitting safely in seven of the past nine games with three doubles, four homers and five RBIs. He remains a must-start in NL-only fantasy leagues and some mixed formats, although he is much more valuable in head-to-head leagues than rotisseries formats due to his weak average.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson leading off

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 16:10:19 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson is leading off Saturday, June 18, with 2B Chase Utley out of the lineup. 2B Howie Kendrick is hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Pederson has three homers in the last week, but he's hitting just .216. He's an all-or-nothing play against Chase Anderson. Kendrick is hitting .412 the last week, and he's a low-end option in DFS.

Dodgers | Three Dodgers regulars sitting out

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 10:30:32 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Chase Utley, OF Joc Pederson and C Yasmani Grandal are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks left-handed SP Patrick Corbin Wednesday, June 15. 2B Howie Kendrick is at second base and is hitting sixth, OF Scott Van Slyke is starting in right field and batting seventh and C A.J. Ellis is catching and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Kendrick and Van Slyke don't move the fantasy needle all that much but could be successful value plays in DFS if you're looking to save a little salary cap space against the lefty. Ellis is a light-hitting catcher that should be ignored.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson clubs a pair of homers

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 23:05:59 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson went 2-for-4 against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday, June 14, going deep against SP Archie Bradley to open the scoring in the fifth inning before repeating the feat with another solo shot against the right-hander in the sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Three homers and three days for Pederson, who had been without a home run since May 17 prior to this most recent outburst. The 2015 All-Star probably could use an extended power run as he is probably the most likely Dodger outfielder to lose playing time once Yasiel Puig and Andre Ethier make it back to the big club. Outside of his occasional homer binges, Pederson doesn't provide his owners much in fantasy either, so he's probably best utilized as depth in most leagues.

Dodgers | Joc Pederson in deep slide

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 13:21:58 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Joc Pederson is in a 5-for-38 (.132) slump over the last two weeks. Over the last 30 days, he's hitting .186 with two homers and 11 RBI.

Fantasy Tip: The Dodgers outfield is starting to shake up and become a bit crowded. Pederson has just 12 at-bats the last seven days, and Yasiel Puig (hamstring) could be a week or so away from returning. Trayce Thompson's emergence could push Pederson to the bench more often. Pederson's power makes him worth stashing, but he's going to need to show more consistency to stay in the lineup.

Dodgers | Four Dodgers regulars sitting out

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 15:27:47 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Chase Utley, SS Corey Seager, OF Joc Pederson and C Yasmani Grandal are not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies left-handed SP Chris Rusin Wednesday, June 8. C Austin Barnes is starting at second base and is hitting eighth, OF Enrique Hernandez is starting at shortstop and is batting leadoff, OF Trayce Thompson is in center field and hitting cleanup and C A.J. Ellis is doing the catching and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: The Dodgers typically sit a handful of their lefty hitters against southpaws. After Thompson's walkoff blast last night, he now has 10 homers and 22 RBI on the year and has carved out an everyday role. He's a great player to have in daily lineups this evening. Hernandez's daily value soars while hitting leadoff, too, and he's a fine value play. Barnes and Ellis are light-hitting catchers that are low-end DFS clicks.

Dodgers | Three Dodgers regulars sitting

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 15:30:22 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Chase Utley, OF Joc Pederson and C Yasmani Grandal are not in the starting lineup Monday, June 6. 2B Howie Kendrick is starting at second base and is hitting fifth, OF Trayce Thompson is in center field and is batting third and C A.J. Ellis is behind the plate and hitting eighth against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood. Also, 3B Justin Turner is in the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson has solidified everyday playing time with a .279 average and nine home runs on the year. He has become a viable option in most fantasy formats now. Kendrick is in a nice run-producing spot in the lineup but remains more of a low-end daily pick, as does Ellis. Turner has struggled to produce his numbers from a season ago and loses valuable RBI chances while hitting leadoff, making him a lackluster DFS selection tonight.

Dodgers | L.A. better on the road

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 11:04:05 -0700

The Los Angeles Dodgers are a much better hitting team on the road than at home this year. They are averaging 3.44 runs per game at home (ranked 26th) compared to 5.11 on the road, which ranks fourth. 3B Justin Turner, 2B Howie Kendrick, OF Yasiel Puig, OF Joc Pederson and 1B Adrian Gonzalez are all hitting .211 or lower at Dodger Stadium.

Fantasy Tip: Take note of these numbers when streaming pitchers or looking for a nice value play as your second starter in daily setups.

Dodgers | Four Dodgers regulars sitting

Mon, 23 May 2016 16:04:36 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford, 2B Chase Utley, C Yasmani Grandal and OF Joc Pederson are all out of the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds left-handed SP Brandon Finnegan Monday, May 23. OF Enrique Hernandez is playing left field and leading off, 2B Howie Kendrick is at second base and is batting cleanup, OF Trayce Thompson is in center field and hitting fifth, while C A.J. Ellis is behind the plate and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Against Finnegan, Hernandez, Kendrick and Thompson all make for solid value picks in DFS tonight. Kendrick hit his first home run of the year Sunday and is in a prime spot to take advantage for his owners. Ellis remains a low-end catching option, especially while batting low in the lineup.

Dodgers | Chase Utley, Joc Pederson out

Fri, 20 May 2016 15:53:56 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Chase Utley and OF Joc Pederson are not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres left-handed SP Christian Friedrich Friday, May 20. 2B Howie Kendrick is playing second and hitting cleanup, while OF Trayce Thompson is in center field and batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Kendrick has hit cleanup now for the last handful of games but hasn't capitalized and remains a low-end second base option in all fantasy formats. Thompson, on the other hand, has succeeded against lefties (.286, three home runs) and continues to see regular playing time in the outfield. He's an excellent DFS value pick tonight and should start seeing love for outfield depth in deep mixed and NL-only leagues if he hasn't already.
