Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper (hip) will miss the next two games with inflammation in his left hip, according to a baseball source. OFs Corey Brown or Tyler Moore will replace Harper in left field.
Fantasy Tip: Harper has dealt with nagging injuries all season long that have kept him from reaching his true potential. If this is something that doesn't go away soon, don't be surprised if the Nats shut him down for the final couple of weeks.

The Washington Nationals have placed SP Taylor Jordan (back) on the 15-day disabled list because of a right low back strain. In a corresponding move, 1B/OF Tyler Moore has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse.

Washington Nationals OF Scott Hairston was taking groundballs at first base Friday, Aug. 9, as a way to make himself more versatile. Hairston has never played first base in his career. "Maybe it'll lengthen my career," he said. Hairston could become a right-handed option at first base next season. 2B Steve Lombardozzi was also taking grounders at first Friday with the team lacking a real righty hitting option at the position to spell 1B Adam LaRoche. LaRoche is hitting only .184 with a .552 OPS against southpaws this year. 1B Tyler Moore is 13-for-40 with four home runs in his last 10 games at Triple-A Syracuse, but manager Davey Johnson said Moore won't return to the team until September, when rosters expand.

The Washington Nationals optioned OF Tyler Moore to Triple-A Syracuse Monday, July 8, to make room for SP Dan Haren on the roster. Moore was hitting only .151 with three home runs and 14 RBIs in 42 games.

The Washington Nationals activated OF Jayson Werth (hamstring) from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, June 4.
Fantasy Tip: Get Werth back in your lineups immediately. He's starting Tuesday night. You can probably drop Tyler Moore in deep mixed leagues as a result.

Confirming a previous report, the Washington Nationals have placed OF Bryce Harper (knee) on the 15-day disabled list because of bursitis in his left knee. The move is retroactive to May 27, meaning that Harper is eligible to be activated June 11. In a corresponding move, RP Erik Davis has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse.
Fantasy Tip: With Tyler Moore and Roger Bernadina off to slow starts, the Nats will suffer a significant decrease in offensive production from their outfield during Harper's absence (although Jayson Werth could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Tuesday, June 4). The team is optimistic that Harper will be ready to go as soon as he is eligible to return.

Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper (knee) is likely to be placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, June 1, according to a source with knowledge of the decision. They'll likely replace Harper on the roster with RP Erik Davis, whom they called up Friday, May 31. Washington hoped Harper would avoid the DL, but the swelling and inflammation in his left knee hasn't improved as quickly as they'd hoped.
Fantasy Tip: The Nats can back-date the move to Monday, May 27, but they'll probably still be cautious with Harper, especially since Jayson Werth (hamstring) may return on Tuesday. Roger Bernadina and Tyler Moore (versus southpaws) should split time in the outfield and will offer only erratic NL-only aid until Werth and Harper return. When Steve Lombardozzi isn't playing second base, he'll catch flies, as well.

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (hamstring) could play in rehab games later this week and return from the disabled list next week.
Fantasy Tip: Werth still has 20-homer power over the course of a full season, but his low contact rates and low BA make him a less exciting commodity in mixed leagues. He won't be running as much coming off his hamstring injury, either. Tyler Moore will lose most of his value in deep mixed leagues when Werth comes back.

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth's (hamstring) MRI raised an "alarming report," and he could be out for two more weeks.
Fantasy Tip: This is bad news for Werth owners, but we can't be sure until we have an actual diagnosis of his tests. But it doesn't look good. Hop on the Tyler Moore bandwagon if you haven't already in deep mixed leagues. It looks as though he'll continue to see consistent playing time.
