The Atlanta Braves are dealing with several injuries to their rotation, and if SPs Brandon Beachy (elbow), Kris Medlen (forearm) and Mike Minor (shoulder) are all not ready for the regular season, SP David Hale might find himself breaking camp with the team and opening the regular season in the starting rotation.

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Braves SP Brandon Beachy (elbow) said his ligament is fine and he's just dealing with some inflammation in his right elbow. He said he had some tightness in his arm in his previous two spring starts, too, and was told it was something he could try to pitch through and that it might loosen up after throwing. "He thought it was something that he could get through it. And we let him, to a certain point," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "Again, I don't think it's something that we need to panic about, and we'll take it a day at a time." Beachy doesn't think he'll need to undergo an MRI exam.

Atlanta Braves SP Brandon Beachy (biceps) had "discomfort" in his right biceps Monday, March 10, and was unable to locate his pitches. Beachy's velocity was also down Monday, and he said that he's already attempted to ramp up his velocity this spring.
Fantasy Tip: Beachy is fully removed from TJS surgery, but clearly, health issues remain. He also had cleanup surgery on his right elbow in the offseason. Atlanta's rotation could now be in dire straights if Beachy and Kris Medlen (forearm) are out for the long term. That would put both David Hale and Freddy Garcia in line to open the season in the rotation as replacements.

Atlanta Braves SP Brandon Beachy (shoulder) tossed three no-hit innings in his second spring start Wednesday, March 5, since having shoulder surgery last September. Beachy said his arm is feeling fine. "I felt better, more comfortable out there," said Beachy, who made only five starts last year and had a 4.50 ERA. "Turned it up a little more. I don't know what the radar gun said or anything like that, but I felt like I had my legs under me a little bit better in the third inning."

Atlanta Braves SP Brandon Beachy (elbow) has been working out and throwing in a controlled manner thus far. He's known to be an all-out effort kind of competitor, but he has tempered that so far. He threw his first batting practice session Wednesday, Feb. 19, and has thrown pain-free for a month.
Fantasy Tip: Beachy remains an intriguing option near the end of mixed-league drafts and a risky NL-Only option. The reward potential is pretty solid, though.
