Rangers | Yu Darvish to face hitters Wednesday

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 14:27:41 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (shoulder) is expected to face hitters Wednesday, June 28, in a live batting practice session. He threw his first bullpen session Sunday, June 26, since going on the disabled list June 9.

Fantasy Tip: Darvish will likely need a rehab start or two before returning from the DL. Stay tuned on his progress. When healthy, though, he can perform as your fantasy ace, so he should remain stashed in all formats.

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 17:20:44 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (shoulder) threw 30 pitches in a bullpen session Sunday, June 26.

Fantasy Tip: Texas isn't going to rush Darvish, so continue to stash him and hope he returns in time to help down the stretch of the season.

Rangers | Yu Darvish could throw this weekend

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 17:55:56 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (shoulder) could throw a bullpen session this weekend but is unlikely to throw a simulated game or pitch in a rehab game for at least another week, according to pitching coach Doug Brocail.

Fantasy Tip: Darvish should continue to be stashed in all fantasy formats even though no official timetable has been established for his return. Expect the club to err on the side of caution when it comes to his rehab, especially since he's not too far removed from Tommy John surgery.

Rangers | Yu Darvish still not throwing

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 12:05:07 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (shoulder) still has not begun throwing.

Fantasy Tip: There is currently no return timeline for Darvish, and there are now more concerns seeing he already missed significant time following his Tommy June surgery. When healthy, he's a fantasy ace, so continue to stash Darvish in all seasonal leagues and stay tuned for updates.

Rangers | No timetable for Yu Darvish

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 09:10:38 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (shoulder) has no timetable to resume throwing, and the Rangers will take a cautious approach with him in his rehab from shoulder soreness, according to general manager Jon Daniels. His MRI exam showed no structural damage in his arm. "We haven't put a timeline on it. He'll get some treatment, some soft tissue work and we'll go based on his feeling," Daniels said. "I doubt he's going to be throwing the next day or so, but there's no doctor-prescribed timetable. He'll go off of how he's feeling."

Fantasy Tip: Darvish recently returned after a long recovery from Tommy John surgery, so there is even more reason to be cautious with him. Don't be surprised if he doesn't make it back in 15 days. Be patient and stash him everywhere, though, as he's a fantasy ace when healthy. Cesar Ramos made a spot start in place of Darvish and was shelled last night, so he may not be long for the spot.

Rangers | Yu Darvish placed on DL

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 17:47:46 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (shoulder) was placed on the disabled list Monday, June 13, with continued shoulder discomfort.

Fantasy Tip: Well, that's certainly a buzz kill after the Rangers ace made his long-awaited season debut only a couple of weeks ago. He would go on to make three starts, surrendering three runs or fewer in all of them, while totaling 19 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings. Hopefully he's able to get back to the club as soon as he's eligible. In the meantime, look for Cesar Ramos or the newly-acquired Kyle Lohse to take over his spot in the rotation.

Rangers | Yu Darvish scratched, headed for MRI

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 20:57:10 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (neck, shoulder) will not pitch Monday, June 13, and he is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his neck and shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Darvish had been on track to return, so this setback is worrisome. Continue to stash him and hope the MRI results don't reveal anything serious.

Rangers | Yu Darvish throws Friday

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 06:11:51 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (neck) threw a bullpen session Friday, June 10, and is on track to make his scheduled start Monday, June 13, against the Oakland Athletics.

Fantasy Tip: Darvish left his last start early but does not appear to be dealing with anything serious. He has allowed five runs in 15 2/3 innings since making his season debut in late May and has 19 strikeouts during that span. He will be a risky option for owners because of his injury, but he should be a starting candidate in some daily fantasy leagues.

Rangers | Yu Darvish says he's fine

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 10:52:30 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (shoulder) told Japanese reporters that his shoulder is fine Thursday, June 9, otherwise he wouldn't have played catch that day.

Fantasy Tip: Darvish should be treated very cautiously considering he's fresh off of Tommy John surgery. A shoulder issue could be from bad mechanics due to the muscle memory he lost with the long layoff, and that can lead to bigger issues. You've made it this far without him so far, make sure you have the depth to continue for a little while without him in case they DL him.

Rangers | Yu Darvish thinks he'll make next start

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 08:51:34 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (shoulder) said he thinks he should be able to make his next start after he exited his start against the Houston Astros early with shoulder tightness Wednesday, June 8. "If I had to, I feel like I could make my next start," Darvish said through an interpreter. "Everybody told me that after the Tommy John surgery, you go through all those things in different parts of your body. I think it's one of those things, so I'm not too concerned about that."

Fantasy Tip: He allowed three hits and an earned run while walking four and striking out seven in five innings Wednesday night, and he took something off his fastball when his shoulder was acting up. It's a minor concern right now and definitely something to watch, but if he's able to make his next start he should be started in all formats. Heck, he managed seven K's at less than 100%.
