Twins | Eduardo Escobar sitting

Fri, 27 May 2016 16:05:08 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 27. SS Eduardo Nunez is playing the 6 and is hitting leadoff against Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a lack of power, Nunez has done nothing but produce for the Twins this year with a .314/.347/.482 slash line with four home runs, 19 RBI and eight stolen bases as a utility player. As long as he keeps hitting, the Twins will find a spot for him, and it is likely to come at the expense of Escobar. He's great depth in deep mixed and AL-only leagues. Against King Felix, he's a contrarian play in daily games hitting leadoff.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar returns to shortstop

Mon, 23 May 2016 13:38:55 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar (groin) is back from the disabled list and is starting at shortstop and batting seventh against Kansas City Royals SP Ian Kennedy Monday, May 23.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar's return hurts the fantasy value of Eduardo Nunez, who has been one of Minnesota's more consistent hitters. Nunez should remain more attractive for his speed than Escobar, though, in deep mixed and AL-only leagues. Escobar had no home runs and a .237 average before he was injured.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar returning Monday

Mon, 23 May 2016 07:16:06 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar (groin) will be activated from the 15-day disabled list Monday, May 23.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar has some AL-only value, but he's not much of an option in mixed leagues. He's hitting .237 with six RBI.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar begins rehab assignment

Fri, 20 May 2016 15:10:39 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar (groin) is starting at shortstop and batting second during the first game of his rehab assignment with Class A Fort Myers Friday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Once he returns to the big club, Escobar and Eduardo Nunez project to split time at shortstop. Nunez has been excellent thus far, though, so Escobar might be on the lesser half of the timeshare. Nunez has a .327/.367/.464 slash line with 15 runs, 14 RBI and seven stolen bases through 31 games. Stay tuned for updates.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar close to returning

Wed, 18 May 2016 17:37:48 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar (groin) could come off the disabled list early next week after reporting for extended spring training in Florida.

Fantasy Tip: When Escobar returns, he and Eduardo Nunez should split time at the 6, with Nunez having a little more fantasy appeal because of his ability to steal bases. Nunez has a slash line of just .237/.275/.289 with no homers and six RBI. Both infielders are nothing more than middle infield depth for owners in AL-only leagues.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar lands on DL

Sat, 07 May 2016 09:33:30 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar (groin) officially landed on the 15-day disabled list with a left groin strain Saturday, May 7.

Fantasy Tip: With Escobar sidelined, Eduardo Nunez is expected to see the majority of playing time at the 6. The veteran utility infielder is off to a great start at the plate. However, he doesn't have much power to speak of, so he's mainly a short-term middle infield replacement in deep mixed and AL-only universes.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar likely headed for DL

Fri, 06 May 2016 22:20:14 -0700

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar (groin) is likely headed for the 15-day disabled list, manager Paul Molitor said Friday, May 6.

Fantasy Tip: With Escobar on the shelf, Eduardo Nunez is likely to take over at shortstop with Danny Santana seeing regular time at second base until Brian Dozier is over a right hamstring issue.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar suffers groin injury

Fri, 06 May 2016 18:37:48 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar (groin) left the game against the Chicago White Sox Friday, May 6, because of a strained left groin.

Fantasy Tip: If Escobar is forced to miss several games, look for INF Eduardo Nunez to fill in for him. Escobar is batting .237 with six RBI through 27 games and shouldn't be rostered outside of AL-only leagues. On the other hand, Nunez was batting .379 through his first 66 at-bats of the year entering play Friday, May 5, and is an inexpensive flier option for daily fantasy contests.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar taking a breather

Wed, 04 May 2016 14:58:51 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 4. INF Eduardo Nunez is taking his place at shortstop and is hitting ninth against Houston Astros SP Mike Fiers.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar could split more time at the 6 now with Nunez now that Trevor Plouffe is off the DL. Nunez has a cool .371/.420/.484 slash line with a homer and 10 RBI in 62 at-bats to begin the year. He won't hit this well all year but is a consideration for infield depth in AL-only leagues as long as he sees regular playing time. Nunez's daily ceiling is low hitting ninth.

Twins | Minnesota sitting out two starters

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 10:51:36 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar and C Kurt Suzuki are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Nick Tropeano Sunday, April 17. SS Eduardo Nunez will start at shortstop and is batting first, while C J.R. Murphy will start at catcher and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Nunez should be a starting candidate in daily fantasy leagues because he is hitting over .600 this season. Murphy should be avoided in all leagues.
