Twins | Eduardo Escobar taking a breather

Wed, 04 May 2016 14:58:51 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 4. INF Eduardo Nunez is taking his place at shortstop and is hitting ninth against Houston Astros SP Mike Fiers.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar could split more time at the 6 now with Nunez now that Trevor Plouffe is off the DL. Nunez has a cool .371/.420/.484 slash line with a homer and 10 RBI in 62 at-bats to begin the year. He won't hit this well all year but is a consideration for infield depth in AL-only leagues as long as he sees regular playing time. Nunez's daily ceiling is low hitting ninth.

Twins | Minnesota sitting out two starters

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 10:51:36 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar and C Kurt Suzuki are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Nick Tropeano Sunday, April 17. SS Eduardo Nunez will start at shortstop and is batting first, while C J.R. Murphy will start at catcher and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Nunez should be a starting candidate in daily fantasy leagues because he is hitting over .600 this season. Murphy should be avoided in all leagues.

Twins | Minnesota sitting two starters

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 09:14:57 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar and C Kurt Suzuki are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver Saturday, April 16. SS Eduardo Nunez will start at shortstop and is batting first, while C J.R. Murphy will start at catcher and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Nunez has gone 7-for-9 with two RBI so far this season and could be a sleeper option for owners to use in daily fantasy leagues. Murphy has struggled at the plate so far and probably should be avoided in all leagues.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar has two more hits

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 21:51:56 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar had a pair of singles in four at-bats Monday, April 11, against the Chicago White Sox to raise his batting average to .370.

Fantasy Tip: It wasn't all great for Escobar, as he committed his third error of the season on an errant throw. Still, he is hitting .370 and the Twins are unlikely to get away from him even if he is a bit erratic defensively. He remains a solid AL-only fantasy play, and a decent option in deeper mixed formats as well.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar opens with two XBH

Mon, 04 Apr 2016 21:35:23 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar had a pair of doubles and an RBI in four at-bats Monday, April 4, against the Baltimore Orioles.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar was drafted outside the Top 20 among fantasy shortstops, and he had an ADP in the mid-300's, but he is off to a pretty good start for those in deeper AL-only formats.

Twins | Brian Dozier not in lineup Sunday

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 12:06:20 -0700

Minnesota Twins 2B Brian Dozier is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Johnny Cueto Sunday, Oct. 4. INF Eduardo Escobar will start at second base and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is only 2-for-18 over the past week and is not a great middle infield option in FantasyScore.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar moves up the order

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 14:41:59 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar is batting second against Houston Astros SP Scott Kazmir Friday, Aug. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is scorching hot with 11 runs, four doubles, four home runs and a 1.281 OPS over his past 10 games. It is a tough matchup Friday, though, so he should be viewed as more of a flier than a lineup lock.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar homers twice

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 22:28:03 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar belted a pair of solo home runs in four at-bats Wednesday, Aug. 26, against the Tampa Bay Rays. He now has a career-high seven homers, and this was his first career multi-homer game in the majors.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has driven in six runs over his past five games. At a mid-level price he is a solid FantsayScore value.

Twins | Brian Dozier sitting vs. Cleveland

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 15:13:37 -0700

Minnesota Twins 2B Brian Dozier is not in the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 14. SS Eduardo Escobar is starting at second base and batting seventh against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Dozier ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. He has emerged as the premiere power hitter at the keystone this season with 24 home runs. Escobar ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is nothing more than a low-priced flier at FantasyScore Friday, and you should likely aim higher.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar starting against Bucs

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 17:04:58 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar will start at short and hit ninth in the order Tuesday, July 28, against the Pittsburgh Pirates and RHP Charlie Morton. SS Danny Santana comes out of the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting .266 against right-handed pitchers this season, with 15 extra-base hits. FantasyScore owners can consider him for use in GPP tournaments.
