White Sox | Melky Cabrera back from leave

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 14:06:41 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera was reinstated from the Family Emergency Leave List on Tuesday, June 7. OF Jason Coats was optioned to Class AAA Charlotte in a corresponding roster move, and OF Jerry Sands was designated for assignment.

Fantasy Tip: Coats had a memorable debut, if only because of a near-concussion he suffered over the weekend. Cabrera should be activated accordingly in your fantasy lineups, as he should be back in the White Sox lineup for the foreseeable future.

White Sox | Adam Eaton out again

Fri, 27 May 2016 14:22:17 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Adam Eaton is out for the second straight day against Kansas City Royals left-handed SP Danny Duffy Friday, May 27. OF Austin Jackson moves up to the leadoff spot and OF Jerry Sands is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth. OF Avisail Garcia moves to right field and is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Eaton is getting a chance to rest with the team facing lefties back-to-back days. A-Jax gains notable value hitting leadoff again with a chance to find more opportunities to run and score runs. Sands has pop but is inconsistent at the plate, making him more of a low-end dart throw in DFS. Garcia continues to disappoint his owners with his power potential, and his fantasy upside remains limited hitting low in the order. .

White Sox | Adam Eaton takes a seat

Thu, 26 May 2016 14:38:25 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Adam Eaton is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 26. OF Austin Jackson moves to center field and is hitting leadoff against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy. Also, OF Jerry Sands draws into the lineup as the designated hitter and is batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: A-Jax has the speed and Sands has the power, but both are merely low-end flyers in daily contests tonight. Jackson's move up the lineup makes him a little more intriguing for potential runs scored and stolen bases, but don't overvalue him because of that. Sands was once a big-time prospect but has hit just 10 home runs in his five years in the big leagues.

Sun, 22 May 2016 10:03:17 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu and OF Avisail Garcia are not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Yordano Ventura. OF Jerry Sands will start at first base and is batting fifth. SS Jimmy Rollins will serve as the designated hitter, while SS Carlos Sanchez will start at shortstop and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Sands has three hits in his last two games and can be a sleeper option in some fantasy leagues. Sanchez has not recorded great numbers since being recalled and should be avoided in all leagues.

White Sox | Jose Abreu will be DH

Sat, 21 May 2016 09:39:22 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu will serve as the designated hitter against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Saturday, May 21. OF Jerry Sands will start at first base and is batting fourth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Abreu is a must-start option in all leagues even though he is hitting .200 over the last seven days. Sands is hitting 4-for-17 with three RBI this month but is not a strong option in most leagues.

White Sox | Brett Lawrie, Avisail Garcia sitting

Thu, 19 May 2016 14:51:33 -0700

Chicago White Sox 2B Brett Lawrie and OF Avisail Garcia are not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 19. 2B Carlos Sanchez is starting at the keystone and hitting second, while OF Jerry Sands is serving as the designated hitter and is batting seventh against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh. Also, SS Jimmy Rollins drops to sixth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Lawrie is hitless in his last three games and is batting .228 (13-for-57) this month after a hot April. If you have other options, consider benching him for a spell in traditional leagues. Sanchez has never hit over .250 in three years in the majors and is a low-end middle infield option. Sands has respectable power but is another low-end dart throw in DFS play.

White Sox | Still no Avisail Garcia

Wed, 04 May 2016 14:49:59 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Avisail Garcia (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup Wednesday, May 4. OF Jerry Sands will once again serve as the designated hitter and is batting seventh against Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz.

Fantasy Tip: Sands has easy home run power but struggles to make consistent contact. That usually relegates him to a daily option to avoid, but he's facing the inconsistent Buchholz tonight and could break out. Consider using a flier on Sands as a deep sleeper this evening.

White Sox | Avisail Garcia remains sidelined

Tue, 03 May 2016 13:51:40 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Avisail Garcia (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup Tuesday, May 3. OF Jerry Sands is the designated hitter and is batting seventh against Boston Red Sox SP Steven Wright.

Fantasy Tip: Not only is Garcia hurt now, but he's hitting only .214 (15-for-70) after the first month. His ownership should be limited to deep mixed and AL-only leagues, and you'll have to keep him benched for now. Sands is more of a dice roll as a deep sleeper in daily games for his power stroke.

White Sox | Avisail Garcia, Jimmy Rollins out

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 12:42:37 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Avisail Garcia and SS Jimmy Rollins are not in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Kevin Gausman Saturday, April 30. INF Tyler Saladino will bat second and play shortstop, while OF Jerry Sands will bat seventh and serve as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino is batting .174 with a home run and three RBI in 24 at-bats, while Sands is 5-for-20 with a home run and three RBI. Both players should be viewed as sources of desperation salary cap relief in daily fantasy games.

White Sox | Avisail Garcia sitting out

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 10:41:55 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Avisail Garcia is not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland Sunday, April 24. OF Jerry Sands will serve as the designated hitter and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Sands has not seen regular playing time but does have at least one hit in three of his last four games. Sands could be an option for desperate owners in daily fantasy leagues but is not a strong fantasy option.
