Phillies | Three Phils sitting out Saturday

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 15:56:38 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera, OF Cody Asche and 2B Cesar Hernandez are out of the lineup Saturday, June 25. OF Peter Bourjos leads off with 2B Andres Blanco hitting fifth and OF Jimmy Paredes hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Bourjos is hitting .375 this month and hits lefties to a .327 clip. Madison Bumgarner isn't your typical lefty, but Bourjos has upside tonight. Blanco has minimal fantasy intrigue, but Paredes doesn't at this point.

Phillies | Tommy Joseph scratched

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 09:23:03 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Tommy Joseph (illness) was scratched Thursday, June 23, due to illness. 2B Cesar Hernandez was inserted into the lineup hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez is hitting just .224 this month and doesn't have much consideration against Ricky Nolasco.

Phillies | Cesar Hernandez sitting again

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 14:46:26 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Cesar Hernandez is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson Wednesday, June 22. SS Andres Blanco will start at second base and is batting second.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco has been a bit inconsistent at the plate over the last few weeks and is not a strong option for owners in most leagues.

Phillies | Cesar Hernandez on the bench

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 14:45:47 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Cesar Hernandez is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Tyler Duffey Tuesday, June 21. 2B Andres Blanco will start at second base and is batting second.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco is hitting .263 with one RBI over the last seven days. Blanco should be used in NL-only leagues but does not have much value in most mixed leagues.

Phillies | Cesar Hernandez leading off

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 08:00:42 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Cesar Hernandez is leading off Monday, June 20.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez is the fourth leadoff hitter in as many days. However, he has hit .222 this month. The matchup against a Shelby Miller fresh off the DL and in the midst of the worst year of his career is promising, but there's probably not enough there to use in DFS.

Phillies | Philadelphia resting four players

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 09:12:05 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Tommy Joseph, C Cameron Rupp, 2B Cesar Hernandez and OF Peter Bourjos are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke Saturday, June 18. 2B Andres Blanco will start at second base and is batting third. 1B Ryan Howard will start at first base and is batting fourth. OF Jimmy Paredes will start in right field and is batting fifth, while C Carlos Ruiz will start at catcher and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco, Howard and Ruiz are all hitting less than .200 over the last seven days and probably should be avoided in most fantasy leagues. Paredes is performing a little better at the plate over that span, but owners should be able to find better options for their lineups.

Phillies | Cesar Hernandez batting second Tuesday

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 12:50:50 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Cesar Hernandez is hitting second Tuesday, June 7, against the Chicago Cubs and SP Kyle Hendricks.

Fantasy Tip: With five hits in his last 12 at-bats, the team may be shifting Hernandez up to put his bat in a more advantageous spot. Hernandez will get more chances to drive in runs and score fantasy points for your team, so play him accordingly. He is worth the start in DFS formats and should be considered for other leagues now that he is playing every day.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera resting Monday

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 11:13:27 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 6. OF Peter Bourjos is starting in center field and is hitting seventh against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester. Also, 2B Cesar Hernandez moves up to the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez has a very favorable lineup spot hitting leadoff, but the lefty-lefty matchup against Lester makes him not all that attractive in daily contests. Bourjos has lost significant playing time of late with Cody Asche back from injury and with Jimmy Paredes in town. Bourjos should only be used as depth in deep NL-only leagues for his speed.

Phillies | Cesar Hernandez, Tyler Goeddel resting

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 12:45:53 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Cesar Hernandez and OF Tyler Goeddel are not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 2. 2B Andres Blanco is at the keystone and is hitting second, while OF Cody Asche is starting in left field and is batting sixth against Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco is hitting .288 this year but has very limited offensive upside, even while hitting out of the two-hole in a friendly matchup. Asche will be making his first start of the season and is expected to play regularly, which could hurt the fantasy values of Goedell or Peter Bourjos. Asche has a career .246/.301/.392 slash line and is mainly an NL-only asset for outfield depth.

Phillies | Cesar Hernandez jumps up to two-hole

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 13:43:25 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Cesar Hernandez is batting second, and SS Freddy Galvis is batting sixth against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Wednesday, June 1.

Fantasy Tip: At this point of the season, and in their respective careers, you know what you're getting with Hernandez and Galvis. They're both only viable contributors in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues, and as far as the lineup swap goes, it likely won't matter facing Scherzer Wednesday. If the switch sticks, Hernandez would receive a slight value boost, especially if he can become more active on the base paths.
