Colts | Andrew Luck works with receivers

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 07:56:59 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck recently worked out with some of his receivers at Stanford University in preparation for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Luck posted career highs in passing yards (4,761) and touchdown passes (40) last season and will look to improve his play this season. Luck will have a lot of weapons to work in 2015 and should be one of the first quarterbacks selected in drafts.

Colts | T.Y. Hilton could leave Indianapolis

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 21:05:13 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton will likely command more than the $11 million per season that Minnesota Vikings WR Mike Wallace receives, and Hilton could receive the franchise tag or become a free agent next year as the team works on an extension for QB Andrew Luck, according to Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star.

Fantasy Tip: The good news is that Hilton's contract isn't up for another year, and he should continue to put up big numbers as Luck's go-to weapon in the meantime. At the very least, he is a high-end WR2.

Colts | Indy to spread the field more?

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 15:05:04 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck and Co. are expected to spread the field more this season with three-and four-wide receiver sets.

Fantasy Tip: This move would make sense for the Colts, not only to help veteran RB Frank Gore, but to spread the wealth among WRs T.Y. Hilton, Andre Johnson, Donte Moncrief and Phillip Dorsett, not to mention TEs Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener. The Colts are stacked on offense with arguably the best quarterback in the league. Indianapolis could be a breeding ground for fantasy success.

Colts | Andre Johnson loving Andrew Luck

Sun, 31 May 2015 20:40:33 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson said he has regained his passion for the game because of the opportunity to play with QB Andrew Luck, and he called Luck "smart as hell."

Fantasy Tip: Johnson was able to manage useful totals the last few years in Houston despite below average quarterback play. Now that Luck will be throwing him the ball, Johnson should be a solid WR2 in 2015.

Colts | Andrew Luck impressed by Phillip Dorsett

Sun, 24 May 2015 17:27:01 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Phillip Dorsett has impressed QB Andrew Luck with his ability to quickly learn the offensive scheme. "It's definitely not too big for him," Luck said. "He fits in very, very well."

Fantasy Tip: Dorsett is expected to compete for the No. 3 receiver spot, and if he wins the job, he is worth scooping up in the later rounds of drafts.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck's fifth-year option was picked up by the team Thursday, April 9. He is scheduled to make $16.155 million in 2016.

Mon, 23 Mar 2015 16:32:38 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck likely will not be a candidate for a contract extension until next offseason, according to owner Jim Irsay.

Fantasy Tip: Luck is still under contract for two more seasons, so the Colts can take their time with the extension. Luck was one of the best quarterbacks in fantasy football this past season and probably will be one of the first quarterbacks selected in drafts next season.

Colts | Andrew Luck praises backup

Thu, 26 Feb 2015 20:46:52 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck praised QB Matt Hasselbeck for helping the offense in variety of ways. "I lean on him every week," Luck said. "He is a huge part of helping me prepare, helping this offense prepare. He's a great sounding board for any player on our offense. He has the answer to just about every question."

Fantasy Tip: Hasselbeck was re-signed by Indianapolis, and keeping around a veteran backup that Luck seems to trust and rely on certainly shouldn't hurt Luck's development.

Colts | No rush to redo Andrew Luck's contract

Mon, 26 Jan 2015 11:31:42 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck said he has heard nothing from the team about extending his contract, contrary to published reports. Indianapolis Star reporter Stephen Holder says the Colts have no reason to rush any negotiations to redo Luck's rookie contract. He has two years remaining on the $22 million deal he signed as a rookie in 2012, which has a team option for 2016 that must be exercised later this year.

Colts | Indy working on deal with Andrew Luck

Sun, 18 Jan 2015 09:51:20 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck has been working with the team on a contract extension that could be the richest contract in the NFL, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Luck had an outstanding 2014 regular season with 4,761 yards and 40 touchdowns. Luck should be one of the top quarterbacks for years to come and will be a No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy leagues next season.

Colts | Andrew Luck hasn't beaten Pats

Mon, 12 Jan 2015 09:18:26 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is 0-3 and has thrown eight interceptions in his three career games against the New England Patriots. "I'd like to think I'm a better quarterback and we're a better team and more well-equipped to handle the unknown and the unforeseen," said Luck, who threw for 303 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a 42-20 loss to the Patriots at home Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: The way Luck has been playing, it's hard not to consider him at FantasyScore against the Patriots in the AFC Championship game, despite Luck's poor results against the Pats in a small sample size.

Colts | Andrew Luck struggles on road in playoffs

Wed, 07 Jan 2015 13:41:41 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is 0-2 with a 50.5 completions percentage with two touchdowns and five interceptions in the playoffs on the road in his career. At home in the playoffs, he's 2-0 with a 67.4 completion percentage with five touchdowns and three interceptions.

Fantasy Tip: It's a small sample size, but definitely something worth considering when trying to choose your QB at FantasyScore this weekend. Luck ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) is the most expensive player this weekend, which will make it tough for him to return value for you, even if the Colts are forced to play catchup all day long against the Denver Broncos.

Colts | Andrew Luck shows maturity

Tue, 06 Jan 2015 15:53:15 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck was often forced to throw the ball underneath to keep drives going against the Cincinnati Bengals in the wild-card playoff win last weekend. Luck targeted RB Dan Herron 11 times, and the running back caught 10 of those for 85 yards. Luck was also 7-for-11 for 126 yards and a touchdown on blitzes. He also didn't commit a turnover after turning the ball over 22 times during the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Luck ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) had a breakout season in 2014, and he carried that momentum into the playoffs. Despite being the most expensive FantasyScore option this weekend, he could still be a good choice for your daily lineups against the Denver Broncos. The Broncos have a solid defense this year, but Luck and the Colts could very well be playing catchup all game long.

Colts | Indy to rely on passing game

Fri, 02 Jan 2015 10:53:58 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck and the passing game is expected to be leaned on even more in the team's Wild Card game against the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday, Jan. 4, according to offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton. "Our emphasis is to just try and score every time we touch the football," Hamilton said. "If that's (by) running the football, that's great. Ideally we want to have balance in our offense. But at this point, we have to accentuate our strengths and do what we do best and find ways to score." Indianapolis led the league in passing this year with a league-high 4,894 passing yards (306 per game). Luck led the NFL with 40 touchdown passes. The Colts rank 22nd in rushing yards per game this year (100.8) and 25th in yards per carry (3.9).

Fantasy Tip: Luck ($8,600; 17.2% of cap) is the highest-priced player at FantasyScore this weekend. He's put up big numbers this year, but he also has turned the ball over frequently. In the playoffs, if Indy becomes too one-dimensional, it'll likely hurt Luck tremendously. He's a risky option at such a high price point.

Colts | Andrew Luck to play in Week 17?

Mon, 22 Dec 2014 18:02:57 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is expected to play in Week 17 against the Tennessee Titans. Despite the fact the team has nothing to gain in the regular season finale, the team is generally speaking about playing to win against the Titans, as they look to build some steam heading into the postseason.

Fantasy Tip: Luck might very well play, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him limited to a half or a few quarters if the team builds a big lead or falls behind. FantasyScore owners likely want to avoid this situation.

Colts | Andrew Luck removed early

Sun, 21 Dec 2014 15:03:03 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck was lifted late in the third quarter of the Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: The game was lopsided, and there was little to no chance of Indianapolis improving their playoff seeding anyway. Luck finished the day 15 of 22 for 109 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. Matt Hasselbeck replaced Luck.

Colts | Andrew Luck having fumble issues

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 05:46:35 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck has 12 fumbles this season, six of which were lost. That's the most of any player, regardless of position, in the league. He has six fumbles in the last three games. He has also thrown the third-most interceptions in the league with 13.

Fantasy Tip: Luck ($9,000; 18.0% of your cap) is the highest-priced player in FantasyScore this week. Proceed with caution.

Colts | Andrew Luck struggling in first quarter

Tue, 09 Dec 2014 14:33:17 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is 10-for-23 for 117 yards and just one touchdown, five turnovers and six sacks in the first quarter of the team's last three games. "If anything, it's frustrating. It's my bonehead mistakes," Luck said. "It's the nature of the team, the way coach Pagano coaches. You just play football. Whatever happened on the last play, good or bad, you move on. I think by and large, our guys do that. We have a good play -- great -- on to the next play. Something bad happens, we have to move on and atone for it."

Fantasy Tip: This is nitpicking a small sample size of what otherwise has been a fantastic season for Luck. Against a Houston Texans secondary that has allowed many big plays this year, Luck should be a good option for your FantasyScore lineups this weekend for $9,000.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck posted his 10th 300-yard passing game of the season in Week 13 against the Washington Redskins, breaking a franchise record held by former QB Peyton Manning. He also became the fifth NFL player since 1970 to win 30 regular season games in a player's first three seasons, and joined a short list of players to throw for 4,000 yards in two of their first seasons. He also became the first player in team history to throw two touchdown passes of 70 or more yards in the same game.

Colts | Andrew Luck comes up short of 300

Sun, 23 Nov 2014 16:57:05 -0800

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck completed 21 of his 32 passes for 253 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also ran eight times for 49 yards. However, he came up 47 yards short of tying the NFL record by New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees for consecutive 300-yard games. Luck's streak ended at eight.

Fantasy Tip: It was a down week for Luck and his FantasyScore owners, but he remains a must-start every week regardless of the opponent. He'll look to bounce back in Week 13 against the Washington Redskins.

It was the eighth time this year that he's thrown for more than 300 yards and the 17th time in his young career. Luck was 25-for-46 for 354 yards in the contest.

Fantasy Tip: Luck is having a great season and is a legitimate QB1 in all formats. Continue starting him with confidence.

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck threw for 370 yards and three touchdowns in the team's Week 6 game Thursday, Oct. 9. He also had an interception and lost a fumble.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has topped 300 yards in five of his six games this year and has thrown at least three touchdowns four times. He is one of the most dependable options at the quarterback position for fantasy owners right now.

Colts | Andrew Luck not sharing the wealth

Sat, 20 Sep 2014 18:11:26 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck has targeted WR T.Y. Hilton 22 times and WR Reggie Wayne 20 times in two games this year, and RB Ahmad Bradshaw ranks third on the team with 12 targets. Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton said he believes Luck will begin targeting the teams other receivers and tight ends as the season goes on.

Fantasy Tip: While Luck may spread the ball around more in the future, Hilton and Wayne look like the receivers to target at FantasyScore in Week 3 with the Colts facing a Jacksonville team that has looked terrible this year. Wayne is the cheaper option and will take up 12.4% of the cap ($6,200), but Hilton has a $6,300 (12.6% of cap) price tag, and his big-play upside could be worth the extra $100.

Luck has been sacked 19 times in 2013. "We have to be more consistent," head coach Chuck Pagano said. "Toward the end of that (Houston) game, when we're making big plays, we got things blocked up. Colts | Coby Fleener progressing

Thu, 30 May 2013 08:53:08 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Coby Fleener caught a pair of deep balls from QB Andrew Luck in practice Wednesday, May 29. Fleener said he's remembering more and more of the traits from new offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton, who ran the West Coast offense Fleener ran with Luck at the Stanford helm. Hamilton is expected to involve the position more often than his predecessor, Bruce Arians, did. "What did he have 20-, 30-some catches last year? That should double," head coach Chuck Pagano said.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the projected increase in TE involvement, Dwayne Allen's presence limits Fleener's upside. Neither should be considered more than a fantasy backup you can't rely on week to week, but each has the potential to serve as a solid fill-in for byes and injuries.

Colts | Andrew Luck more comfortable with offense

Thu, 09 May 2013 10:10:55 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck said he is very comfortable with the offense that offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton is bringing to the team. "I am 100 percent more comfortable," Luck said. "On this day last year, I was probably sitting in class. It is nice to be able to have the full offseason with the team. We have changed (offensive) coordinators, but I have had a great relationship with Pep Hamilton from before. To be around him and talk his style of offense has been great. It is just nice to be around the guys."

Fantasy Tip: Luck performed will in his inaugural season in the NFL and there likely will not be much of an adjustment since Hamilton coached Luck at Stanford. Luck should be considered as a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback entering the season.
