NFL | Ricardo Lockette slowly recovering

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 20:10:14 -0700

Free-agent WR Ricardo Lockette (neck) said Wednesday, April 20, that he is taking his recovery "day by day" after a scary season-ending neck injury in November. He is no longer wearing a neck brace, and said he intends to play again.

Fantasy Tip: Lockette was injured in November while covering a punt. He might make his way back all the way, finding a job in the NFL. However, he has a while to go before he gets that chance and has an opportunity to make a splash from a fantasy perspective.

Seahawks | Paul Richardson activated

Sat, 14 Nov 2015 13:20:02 -0800

Seattle Seahawks WR Paul Richardson (knee) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, Nov. 14. WR Ricardo Lockette (neck) was placed on Reserve/Injured. "We're going to jump (Richardson) right back in," head coach Pete Carroll said. "Really, we're going to put him right back into it. He's had enough time now, he's been out on the practice field, he looks great, so we're just going to fit him in. How do I see it? We're going to fit him in."

Fantasy Tip: Richardson ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) faces Arizona Cardinals this weekend, and it's best to see what kind of rust he has first. Keep him on your FantasyScore watch list.

Seahawks | Ricardo Lockette's career in jeopardy

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 15:27:46 -0800

Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette (neck) has "full motion and feeling in all extremities" and is undergoing surgery Monday, Nov. 2, but his playing career is in jeopardy.

Fantasy Tip: You can obviously drop Lockette in all fantasy formats if you owned him. Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse and Tyler Lockett will see fantasy value increase with Lockette out, but Baldwin and Kearse are really the only receivers worth considering for fantasy owners.

Seahawks | Ricardo Lockette done for year

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 10:21:58 -0800

Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette (neck) is not expected to make it make this season. Head coach Pete Carroll said "there's no way" that Lockette returns in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Lockette is having a neck procedure Monday. You should drop him in all deeper leagues if you own him and look for more wide receiver depth. Doug Baldwin and Jeremy Kearse should see an increased role in the passing game with Lockette done for the year.

Seahawks | Ricardo Lockette to undergo procedure

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 09:39:34 -0800

Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette (neck) will undergo a procedure to stabilize ligaments in his neck Monday, Nov. 2, after suffering a scary hit in the Week 8 game against the Dallas Cowboys. Lockette's season is in jeopardy.

Fantasy Tip: Lockette is likely to miss at least a few games, though, so he's droppable in deeper leagues. Jermaine Kearse's role in the offense will probably receive the biggest boost, and the Seahawks could look to get Jimmy Graham more involved, too.

Seahawks | Ricardo Lockette has concussion

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 15:49:46 -0800

Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette (concussion) left the Week 8 game against the Dallas Cowboys after being taken off strapped to a stretcher. He has movement in his extremities, too.

Fantasy Tip: Lockette ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) isn't a great FantasyScore option, but that's not important right now. Hopefully the young man is all right.

Seahawks | Chris Matthews gaining steam

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 10:11:12 -0700

Seattle Seahawks WR Chris Matthews is seeing plenty of time with the team's top-end receiver rotation including WRs Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse. Matthews looks to be building off his big performance in the Super Bowl last year. WRs Ricardo Lockette and Tyler Lockett could be fighting for a roster spot. WR Paul Richardson (knee) is on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews has some real nice big-play ability, and he'll certainly enter the season as a deep fantasy wideout sleeper. The fact that the Seahawks run the ball a lot will make it tough for Matthews to be a consistent contributor unless an injury opens up more looks for him.

49ers | Details on Colin Kaepernick investigation

Thu, 10 Apr 2014 12:35:01 -0700

Updating a previous report, an unnamed woman said she had an encounter with San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick, WR Quinton Patton and Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette April 1 at a Miami hotel. The woman told police she drank and smoked marijuana with the players and wound up in Kaepernick's room. She told police that she and Kaepernick both removed their closes but didn't have sex. Kaepernick later left the room and the woman said she couldn't remember anything after that. Kaepernick is being investigated for alleged sexual assault, but the investigation is in the "beginning stages."

Fantasy Tip: This investigation could turn out to be a real problem for Kap. Some sort of suspension will likely be handed down by the NFL if Kaepernick is found guilty of sexual assault in any capacity. Stay tuned.

49ers | Mario Manningham a month away

Fri, 26 Jul 2013 13:22:42 -0700

San Francisco 49ers WR Mario Manningham (knee) is roughly a month away from returning to action on the field, and the competition behind WR Anquan Boldin will be furious. WRs Kyle Williams, Ricardo Lockette, A.J. Jenkins, Quinton Patton and Marlon Moore will be looking to step up in the absence of WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles').

Fantasy Tip: Other than Manningham, who is a big question mark, the Niners have a cast of unproven wideouts to help out Boldin in the receiving game. Williams, Jenkins and Patton figure to have the greatest chance of locking down the No. 2 spot, and all three will be end-game gambles in deep leagues in drafts. The absense of a proven receive might benefit Vernon Davis the most.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh was upbeat about WRs A.J. "I feel like they're making a lot of progress," Harbaugh said. "I feel good about where that stands right now. Continued competition will continue to be good for our team and those youngsters."

49ers | Quinton Patton has legitimate shot to start

Sun, 21 Jul 2013 17:13:11 -0700

San Francisco 49ers WR Quinton Patton has as good a shot as any of his competition, which is believed to include WRs A.J. Jenkins and Ricardo Lockette, for the No. 2 wide receiver job behind WR Anquan Boldin. Patton has good athletic ability, size and speed, as well as energy and eagerness.

Fantasy Tip: The rookie is worth a look as a late-round flier in early fantasy drafts, and he could be a very nice sleeper if he has a strong training camp and preseason. Patton will be working to beat out former first-rounder A.J. Jenkins and Ricardo Lockette for the No. 2 job.

49ers | Ricardo Lockette to have meaningful role?

Sun, 21 Jul 2013 17:11:52 -0700

San Francisco 49ers WR Ricardo Lockette lives with QB Colin Kaepernick, and the two are reportedly good friends. It still remains to be seen if their chemistry off the field will mean results on the field. Lockette is a speedy player who is in the mix for a starting job opposite WR Anquan Boldin.

Fantasy Tip: Lockette is one to watch during training camp and the preseason, as he could emerge as a big-time downfield threat due to his speed. For those in early drafts, he is worth a look as a late-round flier. Lockette's main competition for the No. 2 job will be A.J. Jenkins and Quinton Patton.

So far, however, WRs Ricardo Lockette, Marlon Moore and Quinton Patton have also rotated with Hall and Jenkins during drills, and no one receiver appears to be getting the lion's share of reps opposite Boldin, as the jobs behind the veteran are viewed as wide open.

Fri, 24 May 2013 12:32:28 -0700

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said WRs A.J. Jenkins, Quinton Patton and Ricardo Lockette will compete for the vacant starting wide receiver job during offseason workouts.

Fantasy Tip: All three will have the chance to win the starting job and see an increase in their fantasy value. Jenkins and Patton likely should be considered late-round options in drafts this season. Owners should monitor Lockette's role leading up to their drafts since he could be worthy of a late-round pick in very deep leagues.

49ers | Ricardo Lockette close with Colin Kaepernick

Fri, 24 May 2013 10:20:11 -0700

San Francisco 49ers WR Ricardo Lockette, who is roommates with QB Colin Kaepernick, could be an intriguing candidate to step up with WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles') injured. Lockette is 6-foot-2, 211 pounds and constantly is being tutored by Kaepernick since they live together. "He's one of the fastest guys on the team, and I've been trying to keep up with him," Kaepernick said of Lockette. Kaepernick has helped Lockette understand and simplify the team's playbook, and he impressed offensive coordinator Greg Roman last year while making impressive catches on the scout team. Lockette, a former track star, considers himself more of an outside receiver that can take advantage of his size and speed. "I'm sure there's things I can specifically name, but there's just something about him that I'm really fired up about," coach Jim Harbaugh said. "He's got something else to him, too, besides just the analytical size, strength, speed."

Fantasy Tip: Lockette would be classified as a super sleeper this year, mainly because, even with Crabtree out, there are still a lot of names ahead of him on the depth chart. But Lockette's relationship with Kaepernick shouldn't be overlooked. Keep Lockette's name tucked away in really deep leagues.

49ers | Have high hopes for Ricardo Lockette

Wed, 22 May 2013 15:44:47 -0700

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has high hopes for WR Ricardo Lockette this season.

Fantasy Tip: With Michael Crabtree (Achilles') likely out for most, if not all, of the season, Lockette has a better shot at making an impact in San Fran. Still, he'll have a tough time seeing enough snaps to make a fantasy impact with Anquan Boldin, Mario Manningham, A.J. Jenkins and maybe even Quinton Patton likely in front of him in the pecking order.

Tue, 21 May 2013 18:08:04 -0700

49ers | No. 3 WR job is wide open

Wed, 01 May 2013 18:49:45 -0700

San Francisco 49ers WRs Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree are considered the unquestioned starters, but after that the depth chart battles are wide open. WR Mario Manningham (knee) will be trying to hold off challenges from WR A.J. Jenkins, rookie WR Quinton Patton and WR Kyle Williams (knee). WRs Ricardo Lockette, Chad Hall, Joseph Hastings, Marlon Moore, Chuck Jacobs and B.J. Daniels are also in the mix for roster spots, as the team is rather deep at the position.
