Falcons | Julio Jones will not practice Wednesday

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 10:30:07 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) will not practice Wednesday, Jan. 18, by design, according to Falcons head coach Dan Quinn. Jones will "do more" later in the week, per Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: The all-world receiver should be in fantasy lineups if he dresses, which is the expectation. Green Bay's secondary is abysmal, so even a hobbled Jones should find some room.

Falcons | Julio Jones should play in NFC Championship

Mon, 16 Jan 2017 09:20:12 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) is expected to be limited during practice this week, but head coach Dan Quinn believes Jones will be "ready to rock" for the NFC Championship Game.

Fantasy Tip: Jones departed in the fourth quarter of the Falcons' Divisional Round victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, but it was quickly reported he could have remained in the game had Atlanta not been ahead by multiple scores. Along with Antonio Brown and Julian Edelman, Jones should be in the running for top fantasy receiver honors next weekend when he gets a crack at the Green Bay Packers' shorthanded secondary.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) left the NFC Divisional Round game against the Seattle Seahawks with a foot injury. He is questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: It is unclear whether or not Jones aggravated an existing toe sprain or suffered another injury. If his day is over, he will finish with six catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. Taylor Gabriel, Mohamed Sanu and Justin Hardy will wrap up the game as the Falcons' top three receivers.

Falcons | Julio Jones won't have snaps monitored

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 14:37:18 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) won't have his snaps monitored, according to head coach Dan Quinn. "He looked good over the last couple of days, so I'm not going to monitor him," Quinn said. "If it gets sore, then we'll take him out. He looked good in practice (Friday, Dec. 30). He looked strong. He looked explosive."

Fantasy Tip: After playing a season-low 39 snaps in his return last week following a two-game absence, it appears owners can fire up their WR1 with full confidence again. If the Falcons had nothing to play for, then there would be concerns, but Atlanta still has the opportunity to garner a first-round bye in the postseason, meaning Jones should see his usual workload in the season finale. As long as that's the case, he's one of the best wide receiver plays on the board.

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 07:04:42 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) wasn't 100 percent in Week 16, according to offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. Jones said he expects to feel better this week than he did last week.

Fantasy Tip: Jones had four catches for 60 yards last week, which isn't bad for a player that was hampered so much. If he's not on a snap count, he remains an elite WR1 target against the New Orleans Saints in the season finale.

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 14:50:21 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Jones has been limited in back-to-back practices now. The Falcons will need him this week with playoff seeding on the line. Expect him to play and play as much as he can. He's easily a top WR1 in what could be a shootout with the New Orleans Saints.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) will participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 29, but head coach Dan Quinn said he is not sure if Jones will be a full participant or a limited participant.

Falcons | Julio Jones with light load

Mon, 26 Dec 2016 07:32:44 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) played a season-low 39 snaps (62 percent of the offense) Saturday, Dec. 24, against the Carolina Panthers. Jones admitted that he was cautious and mindful of his toe injury in his first game back. "I was good throughout the whole game, but I was just trying to be careful," Jones said. "I was just in and out, not trying to let that flame up. I wasn't (on a limit.) It was just how I felt. I'm not going to put myself in a situation to hurt the team."

Fantasy Tip: He still had four catches for 60 yards, which isn't a typical game for him, but it still comes out to 10 points in PPR leagues. He could have the same approach against the New Orleans Saints this week. The Falcons are in the playoffs, but they're still working for a first-round bye. He'll be a WR1 option without his usual flair in the elite window in Week 17.

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 15:45:27 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) was able to return to the lineup in Week 16 against the Carolina Panthers after missing two games. He posted four catches for 60 yards on seven targets.

Falcons | Julio Jones expected to practice Tuesday

Tue, 20 Dec 2016 10:52:47 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) will likely get in a limited practice Tuesday, Dec. 20.

Fantasy Tip: There will be plenty of owners clamoring for Jones to make it back in time in hopes he can hang another 300 yards on the Panthers again like he did in Week 4, but the Falcons have done the prudent thing so far by being cautious with him. Atlanta likely wants him back this week as it tries to potentially wrap up the NFC South, but his return is not a given. If he plays, he is an obvious WR1 in fantasy championship week.

Mon, 19 Dec 2016 08:17:24 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) will have a clearer grasp of his availability for Week 16 Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons are just a game up on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC South, and Jones seemed to be getting closer to returning. He'll be an elite option if he's not limited against the Carolina Panthers.

Falcons | Julio Jones ruled out Week 15

Fri, 16 Dec 2016 10:01:04 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) will not play Week 15 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: It's a tough blow for owners to be without their WR1 for a second straight week during the fantasy playoffs, but it's the right call for the Falcons, who shouldn't need Jones against the one-win 49ers. Taylor Gabriel has played at a low-end WR1 level for over a month and should be able to get free for at least one big-play touchdown yet again. Mohamed Sanu is expected back and could be considered as a low-end flex play.

Falcons | Julio Jones has a sprain

Wed, 14 Dec 2016 06:48:14 -0800

Updating previous reports, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) has a sprained toe, and not turf toe, according to head coach Dan Quinn. "Julio has a toe sprain, it's not turf toe," Quinn said. "But he does have a toe sprain. For him, we're going to take him day to day. He'll maybe do some of the walk-through (Wednesday), but he won't participate in the full-team activity at practice."

Fantasy Tip: Jones could miss Week 15 against the San Francisco 49ers or at least be limited. They probably won't need him until the following week against the Carolina Panthers. Monitor his status because he's obviously an elite WR1 when he's ready to roll.

Falcons | Julio Jones won't practice Wednesday

Tue, 13 Dec 2016 13:51:18 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) will be held out of practice Wednesday, Dec. 14, as he continues to nurse his turf toe, according to head coach Dan Quinn. "We'll see how he feels later in the week," Quinn said.

Fantasy Tip: Jones obviously has a great matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, so fantasy owners will really need to track his status this week. If he continues to miss practice later in the week and have an alternate plan ready, such as picking up Taylor Gabriel if he's still available.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 14 game.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor Gabriel and Justin Hardy probably will be the starting receiver with Jones and Mohamed Sanu out of the lineup. Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list for Jones' status, but he probably would be limited if he is active for the game. Owners probably should keep Jones on the bench and use other options for their lineups.

Falcons | Julio Jones to participate in pregame warmups

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 07:55:28 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) will participate in pregame warmups Sunday, Dec. 11, before a final decision is made on whether to activate him for Week 14's game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Jones did not practice at all this week because of turf toe and is listed as questionable on the injury report. He will be a game-time decision and the possibility looms that he could just be used as a decoy if he is active, making him a high-risk, high-reward option in all fantasy formats. Further complicating matters is the fact that the Falcons have a late afternoon game this week, so owners should have alternate options available in case Jones is rested.

Falcons | Julio Jones to be 'decoy at best' Week 14

Sat, 10 Dec 2016 16:00:05 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) is expected to be active for Week 14 versus the Los Angeles Rams despite being considered a game-time decision. However, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's D. Orlando Ledbetter believes the star wideout will be a "'decoy at best" for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Ledbetter is a trusted source for the Falcons and he has been singing this tune for at least a couple of days. Owners should look for other options this week and hope Jones comes out of this contest no worse for wear. With Mohamed Sanu already ruled out as well, the pieces are falling into place for Taylor Gabriel to be a great play in all leagues and particularly as a cheap high-upside option in DFS.

Falcons | Julio Jones to be game-time decision

Fri, 09 Dec 2016 11:32:41 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) is listed as questionable on the Week 14 injury report and will be a game-time decision against the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Dan Quinn reportedly expects Jones will play.

Fantasy Tip: This is a tough spot for Jones' owners. He is a tough customer and will probably gut it out, but this is a game in which the Falcons could take it easy on their ailing star and lean on the running game while taking shots with Taylor Gabriel. Owners with multiple WR2-quality options might want to sit Jones this week.

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 10:13:12 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Jones may be able to play in Week 14 even if he does not practice, but owners will need to check on his status later in the week. He will be a risky option for owners but should still be started if he plays. Owners will need other options ready in case Jones is ruled out.

Falcons | Julio Jones provides optimism

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 07:27:27 -0800

Updating previous reports, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) has the team optimistic about his status for Week 14.

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 12:21:59 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) is dealing with turf toe, according to head coach Dan Quinn. The injury is not believed to be long-term.

Fantasy Tip: Turf toe can be tricky, but it doesn't sound like Jones' Week 14 status is in doubt at this point. Still, it would behoove fantasy owners to monitor his status throughout the week in case there are any setbacks or further developments.

Fantasy Tip: The Atlanta offense had a tough day but Jones was able to get free for his fourth 100-yard game in the past five outings. Needless to say he remains a top fantasy option in all formats. However, he'll need to be replaced in your lineup in Week 11 with the team on a bye.
