Falcons | More deep balls for Julio Jones?

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 19:08:46 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is expected to see a lot more work down the field this season, as offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan anticipates taking more deep shots. The team added WR Mohamed Sanu, TE Austin Hooper and WR Justin Hardy continues to develop, and Shanahan is hopeful their addition will help keep added defensive attention off of Jones.

Fantasy Tip: Jones still had a giant season for the Falcons and his fantasy owners, leading the league with 1,871 receiving yards. However, he managed to find the end zone just eight times, which was a bit of a disappointment. Regardless, after 136 grabs and a league-high in yardage, he is an obvious first- or second-round pick in all fantasy formats and a bona fide first-rounder in points-per-reception (PPR) leagues.

Falcons | Fewer touchdowns recently for Julio Jones

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 05:43:53 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones scored 18 touchdowns on 133 catches through the first two seasons of his career, and over the past three years, he has caught just 16 touchdowns on 281 receptions.

Fantasy Tip: While Jones remains an elite fantasy receiver, it sure would be nice to see double-digit touchdowns in his stat line at the end of the season, especially in standard leagues. He is a first-round option in all formats with slightly more valuable in PPR setups.

Falcons | Matt Ryan throwing with teammates

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 14:07:46 -0700

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan is getting together with WR Julio Jones, RB Devonta Freeman and other Falcons for passing sessions this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: It sure doesn't hurt for teammates to practice together well before the season starts. There's no telling how offseason comradery and chemistry can impact players during the regular season. Freeman and Jones should already be considered No. 1 players at their respective positions, while Ryan is in backup fantasy quarterback territory.

Falcons | Justin Hardy not No. 2 receiver yet

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 15:05:29 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Justin Hardy is not automatically the No. 2 wide receiver behind WR Julio Jones, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn said there are a lot of options in free agency and the draft.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons are obviously in need of another wide receiver to replace the irreplaceable Roddy White. The free-agent market for wide receivers isn't the deepest this year, and neither is the wide receiver draft class. For now, Jones is the only receiver in Atlanta worth starting, and he should be one of the first receivers selected in fantasy drafts.

Falcons | Atlanta should draft a receiver

Mon, 15 Feb 2016 12:54:28 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones should receive some help in the draft this offseason. The Falcons are expected to draft a No. 2 wide receiver in the higher rounds, according to ESPN.com's Vaughn McClure.

Fantasy Tip: Roddy White is well on his way over the hill, and the Falcons don't have another viable receiving option right now to take attention away from Jones. Whatever happens, Jones should still be one of the first three wide receivers taken in next season's fantasy drafts.

Bills | Sammy Watkins efficient in 2015

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 09:59:09 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins caught passes on 17.3% of the routes that he ran this season, which was the highest reception-to-routes-run rate for a Bills receiver since ESPN started tracking the statistic in 2007. Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (22.6%) led receivers this season in the category. Watkins ranked 13th among qualifying receivers.

Fantasy Tip: At one point in the season, Watkins had to complain in order to have more passes come his way. He finished the year with 60 catches (95 targets) for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns. The emergence of Tyrod Taylor at quarterback helped Watkin's cause, and he should be a solid WR2 heading into next season.

Falcons | Julio Jones led league in targets

Tue, 05 Jan 2016 15:33:41 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones led the NFL with 203 targets this season. It was the most targets for a wide receiver in one season since Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson saw 204 targets in 2012.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was Matt Ryan's go-to guy all season long, and really the Falcons' only legitimate receiving threat. Jones stayed healthy throughout the year, resulting in the biggest season of his career so far. He's a top-five fantasy wide receiver for next season.

Falcons | Julio Jones caps outstanding year

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 15:37:27 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught nine passes for 149 yards Sunday, Jan. 3, in a 20-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Jones moved to second place in the NFL single-season records for receiving yards and catches with 136 for 1,871 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Jones eclipsed Jerry Rice, who had a 1,848-yard season in 1995, but couldn't catch Calvin Johnson's 1,964-yard mark in 2012. Whatever the case, Jones goes into 2016 as the top receiver on the Falcons and one of the top receivers in the NFL. He should be one of your top players on next year's draft list.

Falcons | Julio Jones injures ankle

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 11:45:01 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during the team's Week 17 game and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was one of the best wide receivers in fantasy this season and should be an early-round pick in 2016 as long as he does not have to deal with any injuries during the offseason.

Falcons | Julio Jones faces tremendous matchup

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 22:48:19 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones will meet the New Orleans Saints in Week 17, a team which has given up 281.1 yards per game through the air with 59 pass plays of 20 or more yards, and an NFL-high 16 pass plays of 40 or more yards.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) posted six receptions for 93 yards on 10 targets in the first matchup with the Saints in Week 6, and he enters play with 18 grabs for 296 yards and two touchdowns over the past two games. Jones is finally healthy after a hamstring injury slowed him in the middle of the season and he will do big things in the season finale.

Falcons | Julio Jones close to history

Tue, 29 Dec 2015 11:12:58 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones has four games with at least 160 receiving yards this season. He needs one more such game to tie the record of five games with at least 160 yards held by Roy Green.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) has arguably been the best fantasy wide receiver this year. The Falcons are eliminated from the playoffs, so Matt Ryan could be chucking balls all day to Jones since they have nothing to play for. Plus, the Falcons play one of the worst defenses in the NFL in the New Orleans Saints this week.

Falcons | Explosive totals for Julio Jones

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 15:53:38 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught nine passes for 178 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown bomb from QB Matt Ryan, in a 20-13 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,200, 16.4% of cap) should be on your FantasyScore map for week 17. He has clearly taken the number one spot in the Falcons WR lineup.

Falcons | Julio Jones sets franchise record

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 14:20:19 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught nine passes for 118 yards and one touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15. Jones has 118 receptions this season, which sets the franchise record in that category.

Fantasy Tip: Jones recorded his first 100-yard performance in his last four games but was targeted at least 10 times for the 12th time this season. Jones is one of the top receivers in fantasy this season and should be started against any opponent.

Falcons | Julio Jones has decent afternoon

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 15:48:34 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones posted seven receptions for 88 yards in Week 14 against the Carolina Panthers. He was targeted 10 times.

Fantasy Tip: While Jones was held out of the end zone for the fifth straight game, he didn't hurt fantasy owners. He has five or more catches in nine straight games with at least 88 yards in seven of the past eight.

Falcons | Julio Jones, Jacob Tamme probable

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 10:56:34 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (knee) and TE Jacob Tamme (shoulder) both practiced in full Friday, Dec. 11, and are probable to face the Carolina Panthers in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) is a bust candidate in daily games while going up against shutdown corner Josh Norman. Tamme ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is a midrange tight end pick on FantasyScore against a top defensive unit.

Falcons | Julio Jones not worried about knee

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 15:12:08 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (knee) said he doesn't expect to have any issues with his knee in Week 14 against the Carolina Panthers. "The knee is great," Jones said. "I plan on practicing today. I don't think it's anything where I'm going to miss time."

Fantasy Tip: We expect Jones ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) will be just fine, but a showdown with Panthers shutdown corner Josh Norman is pretty scary if you're considering paying that hefty salary on FantasyScore. Jones is a potential bust for fantasy owners this week.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited again

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 13:19:30 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (knee) was limited again in practice Thursday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) already said the injury isnít serious, so he should be on the field this weekend. He doesn't have the greatest matchup against the Carolina Panthers, but he's still inWR1 territory.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited Wednesday

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 13:57:48 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 9. Jones doesn't consider the injury serious, however, despite receiving extensive treatment last weekend.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't look like Jones ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) is in jeopardy of missing this week's contest, but he will probably be facing Josh Norman, who has turned into one of the best cornerbacks in the league this season. He's still a WR1, but his expectations should be lowered for Week 14.

Falcons | Julio Jones frustrated with role

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 14:42:56 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones, who had eight catches for 93 yards on the season in the Week 13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, failed to catch a touchdown for the fourth straight game. Jones seems frustrated with his red zone role despite passing the 100-catch mark on the season. "I don't know what we're getting down there. I don't know what the thinking is as far as if we're going to throw the jump balls or if we're going to run the ball or whatever look we're getting down there. We practice throughout the week throwing jump balls, throwing fades, throwing all these little things. But when the game comes, you never know what's going to come up," Jones said. The Falcons went 1-for-3 in their red zone trips against Tampa Bay, and Jones was targeted four times in the red zone with two catches. However, he wasn't thrown to at all in five goal-to-go situations.

Fantasy Tip: Jones' owners are finally growing restless this year despite his 100-plus catches. Things may only get worse this weekend with the Falcons facing the undefeated Carolina Panthers. Expect Jones to draw shutdown corner Josh Norman. Avoid paying up for Jones on FantasyScore.

Falcons | Julio Jones just misses century mark

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 21:25:35 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones posted eight receptions for 93 yards in the Week 13 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was targeted 17 times in the loss.

Fantasy Tip: Matt Ryan is trying to get Jones the ball, but it's been a slow go. The good news is that Jones appears 100 percent healthy, but the bad news is he has been held out of the end zone in four straight games and there is no other legitimate wideout threat to take away defensive attention from Jones.

Falcons | Julio Jones has big day

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 14:50:24 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught nine passes for 160 yards in a 24-21 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Nov. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) did well despite the struggles of Matt Ryan at quarterback, as he caught over half of Ryan's yards in the loss. He is worth sticking by despite Ryan's inefficient performances in the team's current slump.

Falcons | Julio Jones to have a shadow

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 06:31:33 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones will be shadowed by Indianapolis Colts CB Vontae Davis Sunday, Nov. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) will have to work really hard to earn his FantasyScore price tag this week.

Falcons | Julio Jones to draw Vontae Davis?

Tue, 17 Nov 2015 15:12:25 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones, who has 80 catches and is averaging a league-best 114.3 receiving yards per game, could draw Indianapolis Colts CB Vontae Davis in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) remains expensive for a reason on FantasyScore. He won't be completely shut down by Davis in this matchup, but as the third-highest priced wideout, you have reason to look for cheaper option this weekend.

Falcons | Julio Jones reaches 1,000 yards

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 17:38:01 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones had 10 catches for 137 yards in a 17-16 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9, giving him 1,029 yards on the year.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons have lost three of their last four, but Jones ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) has topped 90 yards in all four games. He remains one of the premier receiver options available at FantasyScore.

Falcons | Julio Jones torches Buccaneers

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 16:18:35 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones had 12 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown in a 23-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) seems fully recovered from a hamstring injury that slowed him for a few weeks, and if you are going to pay up for a receiver at FantasyScore, Jones should be on the short list.

Falcons | Julio Jones comes out fine

Mon, 19 Oct 2015 08:45:52 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring) didn't have any setbacks in the Week 6 game and looks healthy moving forward, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Jones faces the Tennessee Titans in Week 7 and will be a high-end WR1 consideration on FantasyScore.

Falcons | Julio Jones to draw Browner

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 09:25:20 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones, who won't be on a pitch count because of hamstring and toe injuries in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints Thursday, Oct. 15, is likely to draw Saints CB Brandon Browner, who has allowed more receiving yards to opposing wide receivers than any cornerback in the league.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) should continue to be a must-start in traditional leagues. He carries a bit more risk in daily formats at the high price, though, and he could be rested some if Atlanta jumps to a comfortable lead.

Falcons | Julio Jones won't be limited

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 08:36:12 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring) will play Thursday, Oct. 15, and will not be on a pitch count, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) comes at a tall price against the New Orleans Saints in Week 6. He's a risky option on FantasyScore because hamstring injuries can reoccur easily.

Falcons | Julio Jones probable

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 08:45:35 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring) is probable for Week 6 Thursday, Oct. 15, against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) is expected to have his "pitch count" monitored this week. He has one of the highest salaries on FantasyScore, and he could produce enough to warrant it. It's just very risky.

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 06:29:07 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring, toe) will play in Week 6 Thursday, Oct. 15, against the New Orleans Saints. However, the team will monitor his "pitch count," according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) is one of the highest salaries on FantasyScore, and he could produce enough to be worth it. It's just a tall chore to ask.

Falcons | Julio Jones misses practice

Tue, 13 Oct 2015 14:10:57 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe, hamstring) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Oct. 13. Jones is still expected to play Thursday, Oct. 15, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: At his hefty price, Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) could be a bit of a risk this week against the New Orleans Saints. On paper, this contest looks like a shootout, but that could lure owners into a trap if Jones is limited at all. Invest at your own risk.

Falcons | Coach expects Julio Jones to play

Tue, 13 Oct 2015 09:25:44 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring, toe) is expected to play Thursday, Oct. 15, against the New Orleans Saints, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) had his hamstring issue flare up again last week but played in Week 5. With the short week, it's questionable whether they can get him ready to play. It's a good matchup, but with the team at 5-0, you wonder whether he'll be limited or used as a decoy. Buyer beware on FantasyScore.

Falcons | Julio Jones uncertain for Thursday

Tue, 13 Oct 2015 05:30:04 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring, toe) is uncertain to play Thursday, Oct. 15, against the New Orleans Saints in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) had his hamstring issue flare up again last week but played in Week 5. With the short week, it's questionable whether they can get him ready to play. Leonard Hankerson ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) and Roddy White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) would receive a lot more attention on offense and could be worth plugging into FantasyScore lineups.

Falcons | Julio Jones does not practice

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 16:00:48 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring, toe) did not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons play Thursday, Oct. 15, so Jones is probably receiving an extra day off to recover. Jones had solid game with five receptions for 67 yards in Week 5 and should be a starting option every week.

Falcons | Julio Jones quiet by his standards

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 20:06:16 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones had five receptions for 67 yards in the Week 5 game against the Washington Redskins. He was targeted 10 times.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) is a stud more often than not, but facing a strong Washington defense was going to be tough and it turned out to be true. He'll have a much bigger day under the lights on Thursday night in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints.

Falcons | Julio Jones will be monitored

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 08:28:33 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring, toe) was able to run without problems in front of coaches before the Week 5 game against the Washington Redskins, but the team will monitor Jones during the game.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) is ready to play, but he does come with some risk because of the hamstring injury. Jones is one of the most expensive players available on FantasyScore but his production should make owners consider using him in their lineup.

Falcons | Julio Jones will play in Week 5

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 07:49:23 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe, hamstring) will be able to play against the Washington Redskins in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) has been dealing with injuries over the last few weeks but has been able to play. He was held to only 38 yards in the last game but has at least 135 receiving yards in each of the other three games of the season. Jones should be a weekly starting option in every league.

Sat, 10 Oct 2015 07:21:53 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe, hamstring) is expected to play in the Week 5 game against the Washington Redskins even though he is listed as questionable for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) is one of the top fantasy receivers this season, so owners should check the inactive list before deciding on their lineups. Jones should be a weekly starting option for owners on FantasyScore even though he is one of the most expensive players available.

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 13:21:37 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe, hamstring) practiced on a limited basis Friday, Oct. 9, and is questionable for Week 5 against the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: We fully expect Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) to play Sunday, but you should be slightly worried about a player that has had his share of lower body injuries in the past, especially with such a high FantasyScore salary on top of it.

Falcons | Julio Jones being moved around

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 10:37:02 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones, who leads the NFL with 38 catches and 478 yards through four games, has been moved around on the field more often this year, making it tough for opposing defenses to keep track of where he is. Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's misdirection offense also helps Jones get open more often. Jones' ability to run different routes from different positions on the field also makes him tougher to defend.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) has easily been the best fantasy receiver and doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon in this new offense. He'll cost you a pretty penny, though, and most of your opponents will likely put him in their lineups, too.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) should be fine for the Week 5 game against the Washington Redskins even though he has been limited during practice this week. Jones has been one of the best receivers in the NFL this season and should be a starting option on FantasyScore if owners are willing to pay the price.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited Wednesday

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 13:55:31 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe, hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Fantasy Tip: It's a good sign that Jones is practicing midweek, even if it's on a limited basis. Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) is capable of going off any given week, and Week 5 against the Washington Redskins is no different. Yes, he's expensive, but he's more often than not worth it.

Falcons | Julio Jones held in check

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 16:32:42 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones had four catches for 38 yards in a 48-21 win over the Houston Texans in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: To be fair, the lopsided nature of the score probably had more to do with Jones' ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) quiet game than anything else. Don't hesitate to use him at FantasyScore going forward.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring, toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 2, and is listed as probable for the Week 4 game against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) is tied for the NFL lead with 34 receptions and ranks second in receiving yards (440) and touchdowns (four). Jones has posted big numbers in each of the first three games of the season and should be a starting option on FantasyScore if owners are willing to pay.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) isn't dealing with turf toe, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn said Jones will be "ready to rock" in Week 4 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) has already set an NFL record for most catches to start a season after three weeks. His historic pace probably won't hold up, but he'll remain one of the most widely owned receivers in daily games again this week against Houston.

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 14:55:47 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring, toe) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) should be fine for the Week 4 game against the Houston Texans even though he missed practice Wednesday. Jones is one of the most expensive receivers on FantasyScore but is a terrific starting option if owners are willing to spend the money.
