Falcons | Julio Jones listed as limited

Wed, 28 Sep 2016 13:25:41 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (calf) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was held to one catch and 16 yards in Week 3 but should be more involved in the passing game in Week 4. Jones has been limited by the injury but should continue to a starting candidate in all fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Julio Jones nearly gets blanked

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 21:19:08 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (calf) was targeted six times in the Week 3 game against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Sept. 26, but he managed just one catch for 16 yards. That first reception did not come until the second half.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has been dealing with a sore calf, and he had an ankle issue earlier in the season, too. Whenever he is active you have to have him in there, as this was an anomaly.

Falcons | Julio Jones blanked in first half

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 19:12:12 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (calf) is active in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Sept. 26, but while the Falcons have seven different receivers with a catch, Jones has zero grabs.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is killing his fantasy owners Monday, but there is still 30 minutes to go against a poor defense. If he is just being used as a decoy, and that certainly looks to be the case, not good.

Falcons | Julio Jones active Monday

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 16:16:26 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (calf) is active against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Sept. 26.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a big surprise as Jones had already said he'd play tonight. He has one of the best matchups of the week, at least on paper, against a depleted Saints secondary. What's also in his favor is that this matchup has shootout potential, featuring two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL so far this season. Another game with big numbers could be on the horizon if Jones can avoid aggravating the calf injury.

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 12:05:14 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (calf) was limited during practice Saturday, Sept. 24, and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has said he will play against the New Orleans Saints this week, but owners will need to continue to monitor the situation. Jones will come with some risk but should be a starting candidate in all leagues if he is active.

Falcons | Atlanta won't force the ball to Julio Jones

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 10:04:13 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones only has 13 targets through two games this season after recording 204 last year, and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan doesn't appear interested in changing that approach anytime soon. Six Falcons have four or more receptions through the first two games, while TE Jacob Tamme has two more catches and three more targets than Jones. "You really hope (Jones) is one-on-one, but it's nice when he's not and he's got some bad looks, there's a lot of other opportunities out there (for the other players). … You don't have to force it into tough looks. You can go where the coverage tells you. … You might not have the same numbers for (Jones) and stuff, but I think the result ends up improving the offense," Shanahan said.

Fantasy Tip: Shanahan has a long history of feeding his top receiver, so this is quite the departure from the norm for him. As nice as he makes it sound, however, defenses are going to be content with the Falcons trying to beat them with Mohamed Sanu and Tamme as opposed to Jones, Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. Even with a slightly reduced target share this season, Jones is still a weekly WR1.

Falcons | Julio Jones expected to play

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 07:22:26 -0700

Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said WR Julio Jones (calf) is expected to be available for Week 3's game against the New Orleans Saints, even though he missed practice Friday, Sept. 23.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons have a Monday night game versus New Orleans and owners should check to see if Jones practices Saturday, Sept. 24, to have a better idea of his status. DFS players should look for safer options this week due to the uncertainty surrounding the number of snaps he will see.

Falcons | Julio Jones sits again

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 17:50:52 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (calf) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to see if Jones will be able to practice Saturday, Sept. 24, to have a better idea on his status for Week 3. He should be a starter in all leagues if he is active, but owners should have another option ready in case he is ruled out.

Falcons | Julio Jones dealing with calf strain

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 11:05:04 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (calf) has been diagnosed a calf strain, although it is not believed to be serious, according to ESPN's Vaughn McClure.

Fantasy Tip: If there is any good news to come out of this, it may be that Jones didn't aggravate the ankle injury that has dogged him since late in the preseason. Jones is seemingly always battling through one lower-body injury or another, but he keeps showing up on game day. Anytime Jones is on the field, he is a WR1 in fantasy.

Falcons | Julio Jones expected to be fine

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 05:24:49 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (leg, ankle) missed the final drive of the Week 2 game with a leg injury that wasn't related to his previous left ankle injury, but the team expects him to be fine.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has reached the end zone each week, but he has just nine catches for 172 yards, which is a little lackluster for him. He could unleash it in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints, though, and he'll remain an elite WR1.

Falcons | Julio Jones like the no-huddle

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 20:37:16 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones scored a 25-yard touchdown in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of the no-huddle offense, and he said he likes the way offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan uses the no-huddle.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is a must-start player in standard formats, but with Atlanta set to face an Oakland defense that was gashed through the air in Week 1, he could also make a strong building block in DFS games.

Falcons | Julio Jones ready for Week 2

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 09:41:12 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) was a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 16, and will play Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders Sunday, Sept. 18, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Expect Jones to be nursed through practices most weeks, but all that matters is his production on game day. Lock Jones in as an elite wide receiver in all fantasy settings and start him confidently. Oakland surrendered 419 passing yards in Week 1, after all.

Falcons | Julio Jones to be limited

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 10:26:57 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) will be limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 15, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn said Jones hopefully will be a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was limited last week but was able to play and likely will be on the field again in Week 2. He should still be a starting candidate in all leagues, but owners may want to lower their expectations a bit because of the injury.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited in practice

Wed, 14 Sep 2016 09:51:34 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 14, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn noted Jones should be a larger participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 15, though.

Fantasy Tip: Jones seems to always be nursing minor ailments, but he usually shows up with a big stat line week in, week out. He's a slam-dunk No. 1 receiver as long as he's active, which doesn't appear to be in question leading into the Week 2 road date against the Oakland Raiders.

Falcons | Julio Jones tweaks ankle in loss

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 17:36:39 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) said after the Week 1 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that he tweaked his left ankle. It was the same ankle he injured during a preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: Jones will be evaluated and is worth watching heading into Week 2, obviously. However, it doesn't sound like too big of an injury, so fantasy owners should not be terribly concerned just yet.

Falcons | Julio Jones 'fully ready to go' Sunday

Fri, 09 Sep 2016 12:28:44 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) is "fully ready to go" in the team's season opener Sunday, September 11, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Jones got in a full practice on Thursday, so at that point, it looked like a certainty he would be suiting up for Week 1. Owners can now be at ease over their prized WR1, and should expect Jones to put up his usual top-flight numbers against a division opponent whom he usually pounces on.

Falcons | Julio Jones gets in full practice

Thu, 08 Sep 2016 16:06:54 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) was a full participant in practice Thursday, September 8.

Fantasy Tip: This is an upgrade over Wednesday's showing, when the superstar wide-out was a limited participant. Regardless, he was shaping up to be in uniform for Week 1 anyway, and that should certainly be the case as it concerns fantasy lineups. Not only is Jones arguably the best in the game at his position, but he also has a salivating matchup lined up opposite the Bucs.

Thu, 08 Sep 2016 10:58:16 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) will be a full participant during practice Thursday, Sept. 8, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has dealt with the ankle injury over the past few weeks but appears to be ready for Week 1. He is one of the best fantasy receivers available and will be a starter in all fantasy leagues on a weekly basis.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited

Wed, 07 Sep 2016 13:27:09 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was expected to fully participate in practice, but he should still have a good chance to play in Week 1. Owners need to keep an eye on the situation but should start Jones in all leagues if he is active for the game.

Falcons | Julio Jones expected to practice fully

Mon, 05 Sep 2016 11:30:30 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) will practice in full on Wednesday, Sept. 7, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Jones left the third preseason game with a limp after getting tangled up with a defender on a deep ball, but there don't appear to be any concerns about his status moving forward. He should still be a top-three pick in all formats and should be counted on to perform like an elite WR1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1.

Falcons | Julio Jones on track for Week 1

Fri, 02 Sep 2016 10:34:17 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) will be "close" to practicing fully Monday, Sept. 5, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is an elite fantasy option worth selecting in the early first round of drafts. And while he may have a difficult time repeating his 132-catch performance from last year, he could improve on his eight touchdowns. The ankle injury sounds minor, but Jones' health is still worth monitoring leading into the season.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Jones will return to practice soon and is on track for the start of the regular season. He is one of the best receivers in the NFL and should be selected in the first or second round in all fantasy drafts.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) likely will be limited during practice Sunday, Aug. 28, after suffering an ankle injury in the third preseason game, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Jones appears to be fine after suffering the injury and likely will be limited for several days. He is one of the best receivers in the NFL and should be a first-round pick in most leagues.

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) will not return against the Miami Dolphins Thursday, Aug. 25, but head coach Dan Quinn said Jones could have returned if needed.

Falcons | Julio Jones injures ankle

Thu, 25 Aug 2016 18:05:41 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) is questionable to return against the Miami Dolphins Thursday, Aug. 25, after injuring his ankle.

Fantasy Tip: Expect the Falcons to be cautious with their star receiver. It remains to be seen if the injury is serious, but if Jones has to miss any time, Mohamed Sanu should be the main beneficiary.

Falcons | Julio Jones could practice in full Sunday

Sat, 30 Jul 2016 17:18:39 -0700

Updating previous reports, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) participated in individual drills Saturday, July 30, and could receive full clearance for practice as soon as Sunday, July 31. He has been bothered by an apparent foot injury since training camp opened Thursday, July 28, and was spotted rolling his left foot over a ball on the sidelines while team drills were taking place Saturday.

Fantasy Tip: Despite this minor setback at the beginning of camp, Jones should continue to be viewed as one of the NFL's elite wide receivers and is worth selecting in the early rounds of all fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Julio Jones not worried

Sat, 30 Jul 2016 08:42:23 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (undisclosed) said he is dealing with a minor injury and it is nothing to worry about.

Fantasy Tip: Jones probably will return to practice in the near future but will not need to risk back. Jones should continue to be one of the top targeted wide receivers in the NFL in 2016 and will be selected in early in all fantasy drafts.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (undisclosed) is in uniform for practice Saturday, July 30, but is not participating in individual drills or 11-on-11 drills.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons probably are taking things slow with Jones, but it appears like he should return to practice in the near future. Jones is one of the best receivers in the NFL and will be a No. 1 wide receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Julio Jones will be fully back soon

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 12:57:24 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (undisclosed) will be a full participant in practice "in the next day or so," according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn decided to sit Jones out during team drills Friday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is an elite fantasy option with some upside to improve in the touchdown column after scoring just 14 times over the past two seasons. The Falcons are just being cautious with their star, and Jones should continue to be drafted as one of the first few picks in all fantasy drafts.

Falcons | Julio Jones out of team drills

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 07:55:59 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (undisclosed) is sitting out of team drills Friday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a big concern this early in camp, though the nature of the injury remains unknown. Jones remains an elite option at the position to target in the first round of drafts.

Falcons | Julio Jones will practice Friday

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 12:19:48 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (undisclosed) will return to practice Friday, July 29, but head coach Dan Quinn would not disclose the nature of Jones' injury.

"He had a little tweak, so we just decided to hold (him). He'll likely be back in there for tomorrow. He could have gone back in today and was asking me to, but I decided not to."

Fantasy Tip: Jones is an elite fantasy option who projects to be selected in the first half of Round 1 of drafts. He has an extremely high floor given his 240 catches over the past two seasons with over 1,500 receiving yards in each campaign. However, there is also upside for better fantasy production if Jones can find the end zone more frequently. He's only scored 14 touchdowns the past two years, after all.

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 08:04:21 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (undisclosed) left practice hobbled Thursday, July 28, and is flexing his legs on the sideline.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is one of the best players in fantasy and should be taken early in the first round in most formats. It doesn't sound serious, but we'll keep you posted.

Falcons | More deep balls for Julio Jones?

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 19:08:46 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is expected to see a lot more work down the field this season, as offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan anticipates taking more deep shots. The team added WR Mohamed Sanu, TE Austin Hooper and WR Justin Hardy continues to develop, and Shanahan is hopeful their addition will help keep added defensive attention off of Jones.

Fantasy Tip: Jones still had a giant season for the Falcons and his fantasy owners, leading the league with 1,871 receiving yards. However, he managed to find the end zone just eight times, which was a bit of a disappointment. Regardless, after 136 grabs and a league-high in yardage, he is an obvious first- or second-round pick in all fantasy formats and a bona fide first-rounder in points-per-reception (PPR) leagues.

Falcons | Fewer touchdowns recently for Julio Jones

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 05:43:53 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones scored 18 touchdowns on 133 catches through the first two seasons of his career, and over the past three years, he has caught just 16 touchdowns on 281 receptions.

Fantasy Tip: While Jones remains an elite fantasy receiver, it sure would be nice to see double-digit touchdowns in his stat line at the end of the season, especially in standard leagues. He is a first-round option in all formats with slightly more valuable in PPR setups.

Falcons | Matt Ryan throwing with teammates

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 14:07:46 -0700

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan is getting together with WR Julio Jones, RB Devonta Freeman and other Falcons for passing sessions this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: It sure doesn't hurt for teammates to practice together well before the season starts. There's no telling how offseason comradery and chemistry can impact players during the regular season. Freeman and Jones should already be considered No. 1 players at their respective positions, while Ryan is in backup fantasy quarterback territory.

Falcons | Justin Hardy not No. 2 receiver yet

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 15:05:29 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Justin Hardy is not automatically the No. 2 wide receiver behind WR Julio Jones, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn said there are a lot of options in free agency and the draft.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons are obviously in need of another wide receiver to replace the irreplaceable Roddy White. The free-agent market for wide receivers isn't the deepest this year, and neither is the wide receiver draft class. For now, Jones is the only receiver in Atlanta worth starting, and he should be one of the first receivers selected in fantasy drafts.

Falcons | Atlanta should draft a receiver

Mon, 15 Feb 2016 12:54:28 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones should receive some help in the draft this offseason. The Falcons are expected to draft a No. 2 wide receiver in the higher rounds, according to ESPN.com's Vaughn McClure.

Fantasy Tip: Roddy White is well on his way over the hill, and the Falcons don't have another viable receiving option right now to take attention away from Jones. Whatever happens, Jones should still be one of the first three wide receivers taken in next season's fantasy drafts.

Bills | Sammy Watkins efficient in 2015

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 09:59:09 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins caught passes on 17.3% of the routes that he ran this season, which was the highest reception-to-routes-run rate for a Bills receiver since ESPN started tracking the statistic in 2007. Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (22.6%) led receivers this season in the category. Watkins ranked 13th among qualifying receivers.

Fantasy Tip: At one point in the season, Watkins had to complain in order to have more passes come his way. He finished the year with 60 catches (95 targets) for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns. The emergence of Tyrod Taylor at quarterback helped Watkin's cause, and he should be a solid WR2 heading into next season.

Falcons | Julio Jones led league in targets

Tue, 05 Jan 2016 15:33:41 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones led the NFL with 203 targets this season. It was the most targets for a wide receiver in one season since Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson saw 204 targets in 2012.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was Matt Ryan's go-to guy all season long, and really the Falcons' only legitimate receiving threat. Jones stayed healthy throughout the year, resulting in the biggest season of his career so far. He's a top-five fantasy wide receiver for next season.

Falcons | Julio Jones caps outstanding year

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 15:37:27 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught nine passes for 149 yards Sunday, Jan. 3, in a 20-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Jones moved to second place in the NFL single-season records for receiving yards and catches with 136 for 1,871 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Jones eclipsed Jerry Rice, who had a 1,848-yard season in 1995, but couldn't catch Calvin Johnson's 1,964-yard mark in 2012. Whatever the case, Jones goes into 2016 as the top receiver on the Falcons and one of the top receivers in the NFL. He should be one of your top players on next year's draft list.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during the team's Week 17 game and is considered questionable to return.

Falcons | Julio Jones faces tremendous matchup

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 22:48:19 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones will meet the New Orleans Saints in Week 17, a team which has given up 281.1 yards per game through the air with 59 pass plays of 20 or more yards, and an NFL-high 16 pass plays of 40 or more yards.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) posted six receptions for 93 yards on 10 targets in the first matchup with the Saints in Week 6, and he enters play with 18 grabs for 296 yards and two touchdowns over the past two games. Jones is finally healthy after a hamstring injury slowed him in the middle of the season and he will do big things in the season finale.

Falcons | Julio Jones close to history

Tue, 29 Dec 2015 11:12:58 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones has four games with at least 160 receiving yards this season. He needs one more such game to tie the record of five games with at least 160 yards held by Roy Green.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) has arguably been the best fantasy wide receiver this year. The Falcons are eliminated from the playoffs, so Matt Ryan could be chucking balls all day to Jones since they have nothing to play for. Plus, the Falcons play one of the worst defenses in the NFL in the New Orleans Saints this week.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught nine passes for 178 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown bomb from QB Matt Ryan, in a 20-13 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,200, 16.4% of cap) should be on your FantasyScore map for week 17. He has clearly taken the number one spot in the Falcons WR lineup.

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 14:20:19 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught nine passes for 118 yards and one touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15. Jones has 118 receptions this season, which sets the franchise record in that category.

Fantasy Tip: Jones recorded his first 100-yard performance in his last four games but was targeted at least 10 times for the 12th time this season. Jones is one of the top receivers in fantasy this season and should be started against any opponent.

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 15:48:34 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones posted seven receptions for 88 yards in Week 14 against the Carolina Panthers. He was targeted 10 times.

Fantasy Tip: While Jones was held out of the end zone for the fifth straight game, he didn't hurt fantasy owners. He has five or more catches in nine straight games with at least 88 yards in seven of the past eight.

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 10:56:34 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (knee) and TE Jacob Tamme (shoulder) both practiced in full Friday, Dec. 11, and are probable to face the Carolina Panthers in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) is a bust candidate in daily games while going up against shutdown corner Josh Norman. Tamme ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is a midrange tight end pick on FantasyScore against a top defensive unit.

Falcons | Julio Jones not worried about knee

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 15:12:08 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (knee) said he doesn't expect to have any issues with his knee in Week 14 against the Carolina Panthers. "The knee is great," Jones said. "I plan on practicing today. I don't think it's anything where I'm going to miss time."

Fantasy Tip: We expect Jones ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) will be just fine, but a showdown with Panthers shutdown corner Josh Norman is pretty scary if you're considering paying that hefty salary on FantasyScore. Jones is a potential bust for fantasy owners this week.
