Falcons | Atlanta not content with Julio Jones' touches

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 13:36:35 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones will be more involved in the offense if head coach Dan Quinn has his way. Quinn said he was not satisfied with how often Jones was seeing the ball, adding that more offensive plays in general will help that cause.

Fantasy Tip: There has been a plethora of fantasy disappointments in 2017, one of them being Jones. The star receiver has amassed just 25 catches for 367 yards and -- worst of all -- no touchdowns. Needless to say, though, he needs to remain a fixture in fantasy lineups.

Falcons | Julio Jones off injury report

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 15:41:46 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hip) was listed as a limited participant for practice Friday, Oct. 13, and he has been removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 6 game with the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: It could be a very fruitful week for Jones and the Falcons pass offense, as the Dolphins rank 22nd in the NFL allowing 234.0 yards per game through five outings while yielding nine pass plays of 20 or more yards. After a bye, it's good to have Jones back, although he is still looking for his first TD of 2017.

Falcons | Julio Jones cleared to play

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 11:47:59 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hip) has been cleared to play Week 6 versus the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Jones told reporters the team "had a plan" for him earlier this week when he was limited, and this confirms that. With Mohamed Sanu out, Jones could be primed for his first big game of the year. While the Dolphins have only surrendered two receiving touchdowns to wideouts and been fairly stingy thus far, Keenan Allen (nine catches, 100 yards) and Michael Thomas (eight catches, 89 yards) were both able to have their way against them.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited again

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 10:14:31 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hip) put in a limited practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has basically been limited his whole career. By no means should Jones' owners consider benching Jones this week. He is a WR1 play as long as he is playing, no matter who the opponent is.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 14:10:24 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hip) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has had plenty of time to rest and recover following the Falcons' Week 5 bye. The Miami Dolphins have been tough against the pass so far this year, but Jones is essentially matchup proof and a must start as long as he is active.

Falcons | Julio Jones takes part in practice

Mon, 09 Oct 2017 13:09:35 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hip) participated in at least a portion of practice Monday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Jones has a good chance to play this week, but owners will need to monitor his practice participation during the week. He will be a No. 1 receiver whenever he is able to return to the field.

Falcons | Julio Jones likely fine

Mon, 02 Oct 2017 05:49:03 -0700

Updating previous reports, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hip) isn't expected to miss playing time with the Week 5 bye, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has disappointed with 19 grabs for 295 yards and no touchdowns through the first quarter of the season. However, he's a stud receiver, and it may be an opportunity to buy low on him.

Falcons | Julio Jones ruled out

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 11:59:03 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hip) will not be returning to the team's Week 4 game because of his hip injury.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should know more about Jones' status after the game or in the next few days. It is not a good sign that he was not able to return to the game and may indicate he could miss more time. It would be hard for owners to replace Jones in their lineups but may have to look for other receiver options.

Falcons | Julio Jones injures hip

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 10:45:33 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hip) suffered a hip injury in Week 4 and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to find out the severity of Jones' injury. He is one of the top receivers in fantasy and would be difficult to replace if it is a long-term injury.

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 14:37:25 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (back) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 29, but is not on the injury report for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Jones should see his normal workload this week even though he was limited during practice. He is one of the best receivers in the NFL and is a must-start player in all leagues.

Falcons | Julio Jones still limited

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 10:07:08 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (back) will be limited in practice for a second straight day Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has endured plenty of nicks and knacks over his career. As long as he avoids any setbacks over the next couple days he'll remain a high-end WR1.

Falcons | Julio Jones should be fine

Mon, 25 Sep 2017 11:37:17 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (back) should be good to go in Week 4 despite suffering a back injury in Week 3, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was relatively disappointing last week but managed to eclipse the 100-yard mark. He's an automatic start as long as he is active. Don't be scared by the ailment even if he is limited in practice.

Falcons | Julio Jones posts 108 yards in win

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 21:54:19 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones posted five receptions for 108 yards on nine targets in Week 2 against Green Bay.

Fantasy Tip: It was a little disappointing for fantasy owners, as Jones had 93 yards at halftime. However, the team built a giant lead early in the third quarter and shifted to a run-heavy offense with very limited pass attempts to keep his second-half numbers down. He'll look to keep up the solid production in Week 3 at Detroit.

Falcons | Mediocre stat line for Julio Jones

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 15:37:01 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones hauled in four receptions for 66 yards on five targets in Week 1 against the Bears.

Fantasy Tip: The Chicago secondary did a good job of taking Jones out of the game and forcing Matt Ryan to look more to Mohamed Sanu, Tevin Coleman and Taylor Gabriel. Jones will look for better results in Week 2 on Sunday Night Football against the visiting Packers.

Falcons | Julio Jones eyeing 2,000 yards?

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 18:59:55 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones said a 2,000-yard season "definitely can be done," but he is going to take whatever the defense gives him.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was within striking distance of 2,000 yards in 2015, and he has topped 1,400 yards in each of the last three years. He is a plug-and-play WR1 against any opponent and a top-three fantasy option at his position against the Bears in Week 1.

Falcons | Julio Jones to see limited time Saturday

Fri, 25 Aug 2017 15:31:26 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) will receive a few snaps in the preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals Saturday, Aug. 26. Jones missed the first two preseason games because he is coming off offseason foot surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Jones does not need many reps to get ready for the start of the season, so the team will take things easy with him. Jones should be one of the leading receivers in the NFL this season and will be a No. 1 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Julio Jones might play Saturday

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 11:48:47 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) could see the field against the Arizona Cardinals Saturday, Aug. 26, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: If Jones does play, it probably won't be for long. The Falcons don't want to risk aggravating their star wide receiver's foot ailment right before the season starts. As it stands, Jones should be one of the first few receivers selected in fantasy drafts.

Falcons | Julio Jones to sit Saturday

Fri, 18 Aug 2017 12:00:32 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) will not play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Jones is being put in bubble wrap in August for all intents and purposes, but he has been participating in practice on a regular basis and the Falcons have been clear they expect to use him more often in the red zone this season. Jones also has nothing left to prove to the Falcons either, so making sure he is 100 percent for Week 1 is a prudent move. He is well worth a top-five overall pick in fantasy drafts.

Falcons | Julio Jones to sit out preseason opener

Tue, 08 Aug 2017 10:08:08 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones will not play in the preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, Aug. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Jones said a few days ago he was easing his way back into things after offseason foot surgery and there has been zero concern coming out of Atlanta regarding his status for Week 1. While he does have a history of foot problems, taking it slow is the prudent move for a 28-year-old who has nothing to prove during the preseason. Jones is a sound investment as a top-five receiver in the first round of all drafts.

Falcons | Julio Jones, Taylor Gabriel limited

Mon, 07 Aug 2017 15:45:13 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) and WR Taylor Gabriel (leg) were limited during practice Monday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Both Jones and Gabriel are being eased back into practice but are in no danger of missing the start of the regular season. Jones is one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL and should be a No. 1 WR in all leagues. Gabriel was a factor in the Falcons passing game in 2016 and finished with 579 yards and six touchdowns. He can be seen as a No. 4 receiver in leagues with the chance to be a flex option against certain teams.

Falcons | Julio Jones easing back into practice

Sat, 05 Aug 2017 09:53:33 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones was on the sidelines for most of full-team practice Friday, Aug. 4, although he has been slowly getting more reps in practice after having offseason foot surgery. "I feel great about (taking it slow). We all know what I can do. … Whenever I'm ready, I'm ready. ... I can't really say when I'm going to go - like in the preseason - but whenever I'm ready, I'm going to go," Jones said.

Fantasy Tip: There has been zero concern about Jones' readiness for the season and no reason to push him given his history of foot injuries. Jones is a top-three fantasy receiver and has a great shot to finish at the top provided he can stay healthy; his schedule is among the easiest of any receiver in the NFL this season.

Falcons | Julio Jones back to individual drills

Thu, 03 Aug 2017 15:08:00 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) was limited to individual drills during practice Thursday, Aug. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Jones took part in team drills Wednesday, Aug. 2, but was back to limited participation. Jones probably will be limited during most of camp so he can rest his surgically repaired foot. He should be one of the top receivers in the NFL this season and can be a first-round selection in all fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Julio Jones takes part in team drills

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 20:09:58 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) received some snaps during team drills Wednesday, Aug. 2, for the first time since training camp started. He was limited during the first four days because he is coming back from a foot injury. Head coach Dan Quinn said the team has not decided how much playing time Jones will receive during the preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Jones appears to be on track for the start of the regular season and probably does not need many snaps in the preseason to be ready. Jones will be one of the top receivers in the NFL this season and should be a first-round pick in most fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Julio Jones will be limited

Wed, 26 Jul 2017 08:38:31 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) will be limited at the beginning of training camp, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: That's not necessarily a bad thing. The 28-year-old struggled with a foot issue for much of the second half last season but still produced an 83-1,409-6 line. The only real knock on Jones is he has eclipsed 10 touchdowns once. He remains an elite WR1 in fantasy.

Falcons | Julio Jones not part of minicamp

Tue, 13 Jun 2017 13:56:30 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) is not participating in minicamp as he continues to recover from offseason foot surgery. Jones does expect to be ready for training camp in late July.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons will take it easy with their star receiver this offseason after missing two games last year. He may not play much in the preseason, but he should still be one of the first wide receivers taken in fantasy drafts.

Falcons | Julio Jones may be used more in red zone

Thu, 08 Jun 2017 10:37:01 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones could be utilized more in the red zone this season with new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian calling the shots. "When you have a playmaker like Julio, it's making sure we maximize his opportunities because there is so much double-coverage, there are so many unique coverages that roll his way that when we don't get that, let's make sure he's one of the primary receivers on that play because it is such a tough matchup for anybody one on one."

Fantasy Tip: Ideally, more red-zone opportunities equal more touchdowns. Jones' 20 touchdowns over the past three seasons are commendable, but he has been targeted 495 times in that span. Nonetheless, Jones is a top-three fantasy wideout and should be drafted as such.

Falcons | Julio Jones feels fine after jogging

Tue, 06 Jun 2017 12:33:28 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) said he felt fine after jogging Tuesday, June 6. Jones is recovering from offseason foot surgery but is expected to be ready for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Jones isn't in serious jeopardy of missing significant time. As long as he doesn't have any setbacks this offseason he should be good to go as one of the first players drafted again this year after averaging 107.6 catches, 1,624.3 yards and 6.6 touchdowns the last three seasons.

Falcons | Julio Jones recovering well

Wed, 12 Apr 2017 18:02:49 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) watched from the sidelines Wednesday, April 12, as a number of teammates took part in a players-only workout led by QB Matt Ryan. However, Jones showed no signs of a limp and didn't need crutches or a protective walking boot after undergoing surgery in early March. He is not expected to participate in Atlanta's offseason workout program, which begins April 17, but he should be ready for the team's regular-season opener in September.

Fantasy Tip: Unless he has a setback this spring or summer, owners can still treat Jones as an elite WR1 in fantasy. At only 28 years of age and freakishly talented, he should remain one of the top five receivers in the league for at least the next two to three years.

Thu, 06 Apr 2017 21:54:23 -0700

Falcons | Julio Jones should be fine for camp

Thu, 23 Mar 2017 11:27:40 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) is expected to be at full health in time for the start of training camp in late July. Jones was wearing a boot, but he appeared to be moving around well and was not using crutches. A minor procedure was performed on Jones' foot March 6 after he played with the injury for most of the second half of last season.

Fantasy Tip: Jones will be primed for another top WR1 season once he's recovered. He finished as the WR6 last season despite missing two games. Jones is a consensus first-round pick and should be one of the first three wide receivers taken in fantasy drafts.

Falcons | Julio Jones had minor surgery

Tue, 07 Mar 2017 06:00:36 -0800

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) had surgery to remove a bunion from his foot. He'll require four to five months to fully heal, but he's expected to be ready for training camp in July.

Fantasy Tip: The issue plagued Jones for the entire season, and he still managed to post an 83-1,406-6 line in 14 games. He is one of the best players at his position and a consideration early in fantasy drafts next season.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) underwent a procedure on his injured foot Monday, March 6. Jones is expected to be fully recovered by the start of training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Jones probably will sit out all of the offseason workouts in order to rehab his foot. Owners should keep an eye on the situation to make sure he does not suffer any setbacks. Jones is one of the best receivers in the NFL and should be a first-round pick in all fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Julio Jones surgery update

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 12:07:37 -0800

Updating a previous story, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) is not scheduled to undergo foot surgery Monday, March 6, but rather an appointment with noted foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson to determine if he needs to remove a bunion on his foot. The Falcons have yet to make a decision on whether or not Jones will have surgery.

Fantasy Tip: NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported earlier Jones was set to have minor foot surgery. Nearly a month removed from the Super Bowl, the clock is ticking for a decision to be made on Jones' sprained toe if the Falcons want him ready for offseason workouts. Atlanta is going to do whatever it can to help Jones enter 2017 healthy, so owners can still view him as a surefire first-round pick in fantasy.

Falcons | Julio Jones to have surgery Monday

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 11:30:48 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) is set to undergo foot surgery Monday, March 6, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: Rapoport reports the surgery is minor and won't affect his training camp availability. Jones was a dominant force in the Falcons' run to the Super Bowl despite playing through a painful toe sprain. While Jones has multiple surgeries on his feet over the years, this injury doesn't appear to be related to his previous injuries. Assuming the surgery is in fact minor, Jones should be a no-brainer first-round pick in fantasy yet again this summer.

Falcons | Julio Jones still unsure about surgery

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 16:06:15 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot, toe) still has not decided if he will undergo surgery on his injured foot. Head coach Dan Quinn said Jones is scheduled to meet with doctors next week about the foot.

Fantasy Tip: Jones probably will decide on his foot in the near future and could miss some offseason workouts if he has the surgery. He should be fine for training camp and will continue to be one of the best receivers in the NFL. He will be a first-round pick in fantasy leagues and will be a weekly starting option.

Falcons | Julio Jones to be evaluated in March

Tue, 07 Feb 2017 09:21:33 -0800

Updating a previous story, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) told ESPN.com's Vaughn McClure on Tuesday, Feb. 7, he will have his troublesome toe evaluated next month to decide if surgery is needed or not.

Fantasy Tip: It would not be surprising if Jones undergoes surgery considering the fact he dealt with the injury for most of the season. The ailment obviously did not hinder him all that much, however, as he amassed 19 catches for 334 yards and three touchdowns during the Falcons' playoff run. Jones' ongoing foot issues are something fantasy owners need to keep in mind going forward, but he's arguably the most dominant receiver in the game when healthy.

Falcons | Surgery possible for Julio Jones

Mon, 06 Feb 2017 16:13:13 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) may undergo surgery this offseason to repair a toe injury.

Fantasy Tip: Jones dealt with the injury for most of the second half of the season but did not miss any of the playoff games. He may be limited during workouts this offseason but should be fine for training camp. Jones is one of the best receivers in the NFL and should be a No. 1 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Julio Jones may need offseason surgery

Sun, 05 Feb 2017 07:33:46 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe, ankle) may need to undergo offseason surgery for a sprained toe which has bothered him for most of the year, according to multiple sources. He will receive a full evaluation on his foot following Super Bowl LI. Jones has also been hampered by a sprained ankle but will not need to go under the knife for that injury.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was a limited participant in practice throughout the week but did not seem concerned about how the toe injury would affect his performance in the Super Bowl. He had nine catches for 180 receiving yards and two touchdowns versus the Packers in the NFC Championship Game, so owners should have no reservations about using him in any postseason fantasy contests. Jones should also be viewed as an elite WR1 option in all formats entering next year's drafts.

Falcons | Julio Jones limited again but will play

Fri, 03 Feb 2017 12:20:16 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) was limited in practice for the third consecutive day Friday, Feb. 3, but is not listed on the injury report and "ready to go" for Super Bowl 51 on Sunday, Feb. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has been maintaining all week that he's fine, so the trio of limited practices shouldn't really cause any concern. And who can doubt him? While playing through injury in the NFC Championship Game, he burned the Packers for nine catches, 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He's more likely than not to post another big stat line in Houston.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe, foot) was officially listed as a limited participant in practice Thursday, Feb. 2. As previously reported, Jones had said that was full go at practice.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons are understandably being cautious with their star receiver before the biggest game of his career. They want him in tip top shape in a tough matchup against Malcolm Butler and the Patriots. Regardless of the outcome, Jones will remain a top-tier WR1 in 2017.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe, foot) said he's flying around and is a full go at practice Thursday, Feb. 2. Jones was listed as limited in practice Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is the best receiving option in fantasy Super Bowl pools by a long shot. However, the New England Patriots have a history of keying on other teams' best player and not allowing them to beat them.

Wed, 01 Feb 2017 06:43:55 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe, foot) said he's ready to go and doesn't expect his foot injuries to limit him in the Super Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is the top option by a large margin in Super Bowl pools. However, the New England Patriots have a history of keying on the opposition's best player and not allowing them to beat them. Jones is the best receiver to be featured in the big game in years, and he's an elite option in all formats.

Falcons | Julio Jones will be good to go

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 12:01:50 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) said he will be a full participant in practice this week and that his ailing toe won't be an issue for the Super Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: Jones will have his hands full with Malcolm Butler this weekend. Butler defended Antonio Brown and the Steelers well in the AFC Championship, but perhaps Jones' size will give him a needed advantage. As long as Jones stays healthy this offseason, he should be one of the first receivers taken in fantasy drafts, per usual.

Falcons | Julio Jones logs another limited practice

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 09:49:23 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) "looked great" during a limited practice Monday, Jan. 30, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: It's an upgrade over Jones looking "good" in limited practice Friday. In all seriousness, Jones was not listed on the initial injury report for Super Bowl LI and should be expected to receive his full complement of snaps against the New England Patriots. The biggest concern for owners hoping for another big game from him this weekend will be to what degree the Patriots attempt to take Jones out of the game.

Falcons | More to ATL offense than Julio Jones

Sun, 29 Jan 2017 17:19:43 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones had less than 40 receiving yards in six games this year, and the Falcons went 6-0 in those games and averaged 37 points.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is arguably the most dominant receiver in the game, and Atlanta's offense has the weapons to make opponents pay for doubling him. As long as Jones emerges from the Super Bowl healthy, he is worthy of a top-five pick in 2017.
