Vikings | Kyle Rudolph the go-to guy in red zone

Sun, 26 Feb 2017 19:57:11 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph was targeted 24 times in the red zone in 2016, ranking first among tight ends and second overall.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph emerged as one of Sam Bradford's favorite targets, and he finished among the league leaders at his position in most categories. With Bradford back under center in 2017, Rudolph should have no problem finishing as a midrange TE1.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph was NFL's most-targeted TE

Tue, 21 Feb 2017 20:46:47 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph led all tight ends this past season with 132 targets, converting that into career highs in receptions (83) and yards (840). He also registered seven receiving touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: It's understandable if most owners were not aware of this. Luckily for Rudolph, he could be on track for a similarly heavy workload next year, as his role in the offense undoubtedly increased once star running back Adrian Peterson went down with injury. Peterson might not return to Minnesota, and if he's out of town, Rudolph should ideally pick up where he left off as one of Sam Bradford's most dependable targets in the passing game.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph pleased with 2016 season

Fri, 03 Feb 2017 15:20:10 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph said his play in 2016 is more up to his standards and expects to post similar stats moving forward. "I talked about how my first five years were kind of disappointing to me, in terms of my standards," Rudolph said. "This season was more along the lines of what I expect for myself, and what I expect moving forward, to kind of be a springboard and a baseline for the rest of my career." Rudolph finished the 2016 season with 83 receptions for 840 yards and seven touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph posted career highs in receptions and receiving yards this season and was able to play all 16 games for the third time in his career. He should continue to be a main part of the passing game for the Vikings and can be a No. 1 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph busy in 2016

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 09:16:54 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph ran routes on 58 percent of his snaps and was targeted on a career-high 23.7 percent of his routes last season, according to ESPN Stats and Information.

Fantasy Tip: Unsurprisingly, he easily set career-highs in targets (132), catches (83), and yards (840). While Rudolph benefited from Vikings' shift from an Adrian Peterson-centric offense to a short-passing attack designed to camouflage the league's worst offensive line, it also helped Rudolph played all 16 games for only the third time in his six-year career. Since it is unlikely Minnesota can address all the holes it has up front in one offseason, Rudolph stands a great chance of posting high-end TE1 numbers again in 2017.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph had career year

Tue, 10 Jan 2017 07:42:10 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph had a career-high 83 catches for 840 yards, and his seven touchdowns were the most since 2012. He reached a performance escalator of $375,000 on 2018 and 2019 salaries for surpassing 80 catches. His 132 targets were the most among tight ends this season.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph rekindled his TE1 stature this season, and there's no reason to believe he can't build on the rapport with Sam Bradford next season. Rudolph will be a midrange TE1 option in drafts.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph the leading receiver

Thu, 24 Nov 2016 13:39:06 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph led the Vikings with nine catches for 64 yards in a Week 12 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: To be expected, Rudolph was targeted early and often with Stefon Diggs inactive. Unfortunately, Sam Bradford didn't throw many balls down the field, limiting Rudolph's ceiling. He's still a borderline TE1 going forward.

Mon, 31 Oct 2016 21:39:05 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph hauled in five balls for 31 yards in the Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears Monday, Oct. 31. He was targeted six times.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has five or more grabs in four of his past five outings, but he hasn't found the end zone in three games since a three-game scoring run from Week 2 through 5. He is best used as a TE2 in most fantasy leagues going forward.

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 19:37:59 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ribs) was unable to take part in the practice session Wednesday, Oct. 5, due to a rib injury.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has scored a touchdown in each of the past three games, and he has 12 receptions for 125 yards over his past two outings. He has also been targeted seven or more times in each of his first four games, developing a nice rapport with Sam Bradford while re-emerging as a low-end TE1 in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Vikings | Sam Bradford trusts Kyle Rudolph

Fri, 30 Sep 2016 21:01:21 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph is easy to trust because of his big catch radius, according to QB Sam Bradford.

Fantasy Tip: Bradford has targeted Rudolph 18 times in two games, and the strong chemistry between the two makes Rudolph a TE1 against the Giants in Week 4.

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph caught seven passes for 70 yards and one touchdown against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has scored a touchdown in each of his last two games and has been targeted at least eight times in all three games this season. He should continue to be a solid option in Minnesota's passing game and can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues.

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (groin) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 3.

Vikings | No limitations for Kyle Rudolph

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 19:00:13 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (groin) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: A matchup with a stingy Carolina defense will cap Rudolph's upside in Week 3. At best, he is a low-end TE1 in 12-team leagues.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph limited

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 13:20:28 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph should be able to play in Week 3, but owners may want to keep an eye on him for the rest of the week to see if anything changes. He has caught seven passes for 96 yards and one touchdown this season and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues.

Vikings | Three more Vikings have full practice

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 14:53:25 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (foot, fibula), WR Charles Johnson (quadriceps) and TE Kyle Rudolph (knee) were full participants in practice Thursday, Sept. 15.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon needs to continue to warm the bench on fantasy rosters. Rudolph is a sneaky sleeper play as Bradford could look for a safety valve and more high percentage throws in his first start with his new team. Johnson was practically a no show last week and should not be started.

Wed, 14 Sep 2016 15:10:31 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph loses his signal caller

Tue, 30 Aug 2016 19:37:11 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph will be catching his passes for QB Shaun Hill instead of QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) this season.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has very little fantasy appeal as it is, but now he is undraftable even in the deepest of fantasy formats despite a miraculous renaissance by both he and Hill.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph not lacking confidence

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 18:56:57 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph said he feels he is the best all-around tight end in the NFL, and he added that the position is about more than catching passes and running routes.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately, Rudolph's abilities as a blocker don't impact his fantasy value. He is a touchdown-dependent option and best suited as a fantasy backup.

Vikings | Bridgewater, Kyle Rudolph connecting

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 17:30:47 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater said he and TE Kyle Rudolph talk about how they can improve when they're not on the field. Bridgewater also said Rudolph studies the plays from a quarterback's perspective. The young quarterback has learned to trust his tight end more, too, and Bridgewater has counted on Rudolph to come through.

Fantasy Tip: Even with a developed connection and better rapport, Bridgewater and Rudolph are both backups in their respective positions from a fantasy perspective.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph should be more involved

Fri, 18 Mar 2016 12:19:41 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph is expected to be more involved in the passing game in 2016 if the offensive line is able to improve their pass blocking. Rudolph developed a chemistry with QB Teddy Bridgewater during the final six games of the season and caught 26 passes for 313 yards and two touchdowns during that span.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph spent a lot of time as a blocker in 2015 but should receive more targets if Bridgewater has more time in the pocket. Rudolph likely would be a No. 2 tight end in most leagues in 2016 but could be a decent starting option against certain opponents.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph due for poor outing?

Fri, 27 Nov 2015 21:25:50 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph finished with 106 yards and a touchdown in Week 11, but since 2013, he has never finished with eight or more fantasy points in standard scoring in back-to-back games.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is the poster child for inconsistency, and history says that expecting him to build on last week's big performance is a recipe for disappointment.

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph had six catches for a season-high 106 yards and a touchdown in a 30-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph hadn't topped 30 yards in a game since the opener, and nearly doubled his season total in one game. He has the physical tools to deliver big numbers on a routine basis, but there is no guarantee he will continue to produce.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph headed for quiet week?

Sat, 07 Nov 2015 21:09:43 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph faces the St. Louis Rams in Week 9, and the Rams have allowed just one touchdown to opposing tight ends this season.

Fantasy Tip: Considering Rudolph ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) derives a majority of his value from touchdowns, he is a very risky play at FantasyScore against the Rams.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph blocking more

Fri, 30 Oct 2015 06:59:43 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph has been used to block more since OT T.J. Clemmings is a rookie at right tackle, according to offensive coordinator Norv Turner. According to ESPN Stats and Information, he's been targeted on only 18.1% of his pass routes, which makes him the 22nd-most-frequently targeted tight end in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) faces a Chicago Bears team that has limited tight ends the past three weeks. Rudolph could be a low-end option on FantasyScore, but his usage doesn't give him much upside.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph does very little

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 19:43:15 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph had just two catches for seven yards in the Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos. He was targeted four times.

Fantasy Tip: It was a terribly disappointing day for Rudolph ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) and his FantasyScore players. He has been too inconsistent to trust in FantasyScore right now.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph struggles against Detroit

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 18:38:49 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph faces the Detroit Lions in Week 2, and in six career meetings with Detroit, Rudolph is averaging 34.5 receiving yards and has one total touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Minnesota's offense didn't perform well in Week 1, and his history versus Detroit makes Rudolph ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) a risky play at FantasyScore.

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 23:05:27 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph posted five receptions for 53 yards in the Week 1 loss against the San Francisco 49ers, and he was targeted seven times.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) had a rare drop in this game, or his statistics might have been a little bit better. He is an intriguing FantasyScore option heading into Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph poised for big Week 1?

Sat, 12 Sep 2015 20:43:07 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph faces the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, Sept. 12, and the 49ers allowed nine touchdowns and 848 yards to opposing tight ends last year.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries have hindered his development, but Rudolph ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has plenty of upside facing a San Francisco defense that lost several key contributors in the offseason. He could make a solid low-priced option at FantasyScore.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph working out

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 13:07:21 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph has implemented more stretching, flexibility and yoga into his routine this offseason after taking six weeks off when the season ended.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph dealt with an ankle injury late last season, and he's dealt with injuries in seasons past. He seems to be making a more concerted effort to stay healthy this year. If he can stay on the field, he has potential to produce TE1 numbers.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater working with teammates

Fri, 20 Mar 2015 10:23:26 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater is working out in California with Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph, RB Jerick McKinnon, WR Charles Johnson and TE Brandon Bostick. McKinnon and Rudolph are rooming together at Rudolph's Newport Beach, Calif., home and are taking a no-nonsense approach to their training. Rudolph organized the group event.

Fantasy Tip: The chemistry-building possibilities are encouraging, but any fantasy advice to be gleaned from this situation is realistically useless without knowing the fate of Vikings RB Adrian Peterson. The offense goes as he does.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph eager to get healthy

Tue, 17 Feb 2015 14:26:19 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph is making preparations for two months of strength and conditioning as he tries to rid himself of proneness to injury. "I'd like to think no one in the league works harder than I do to stay healthy and take care of my body, but the bottom line is I haven't been, and the only way to get rid of those questions is to play 16 games," Rudolph said Monday, Feb. 16. Rudolph has only played in 17 games in two seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has played just one full season in his four-year career, making it hard to consider him a top-tier fantasy tight end, though the talent is there. He could very well be at full health as the 2015 season commences, but there is obvious risk involved in drafting and rostering Rudolph.

Fri, 26 Dec 2014 15:00:42 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has missed the last two practices, so there is a good chance he will not be able to play in Week 17. Owners on FantasyScore should avoid using him this week. Rhett Ellison and Chase Ford likely would see playing time at tight end, but neither is a great option for owners.

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Rudolph may not be able to play this week, but he does have a few more days to return to practice. Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle, knee) will be active for the team's Week 17 game if he is healthy enough to play, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle, knee) is not practicing Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph ($5,300) probably won't be fully healthy for the final two games of the season, but the fact that he caught seven passes (seven targets) for 69 yards last week should be noted. He's a midrange tight end option at FantasyScore this week against the Miami Dolphins.
