Vikings | Kyle Rudolph now considered doubtful

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 11:07:06 -0800

Contrary to an earlier report, Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle) has been listed as doubtful for Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph will still more than likely be ruled out at some point over the weekend, but it's an interesting upgrade considering head coach Mike Zimmer himself reportedly ruled out his starting tight end earlier in the day. Stay tuned.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph ruled out for Week 15

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 10:45:45 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle) will not play in Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: With four touchdowns over the last three weeks, Rudolph had started to become a trusted red zone option for Case Keenum. Without him, it increases the likelihood of Stefon Diggs or Jerick McKinnon will have a solid game, as either player figures to benefit from the targets Rudolph leaves behind. Adam Thielen also has a higher ceiling as well.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph sits out Friday

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 09:59:24 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle) did not practice for a third straight day Friday, Dec. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph appears unlikely to play Sunday, leaving David Morgan and practice-squader Kyle Carter as the only active tight ends against the Cincinnati Bengals. Neither Morgan nor Carter need to be considered for fantasy purposes.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph misses practice

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 10:11:15 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle) did not practice for a second straight day Thursday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: It would be a shame for Rudolph's hot streak to end because of an injury. He has found the end zone four times in his last three games but needs to practice at some point this week. Have a backup plan in place in case Rudolph continues to be sidelined.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph in jeopardy to miss Week 15?

Wed, 13 Dec 2017 10:18:12 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle) was spotted in a walking boot Wednesday, Dec. 13. Head coach Mike Zimmer told reporters he'll know more about Rudolph's availability for Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals later in the week.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph sat out the final few plays of Week 14 with the injury. While his receptions are down from the career-high 83 he had last season, Rudolph is having another fine season and on a three-game scoring streak. If he cannot play, David Morgan and Blake Bell are the next men up, although neither one would be worth considering in the fantasy playoffs.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph catches TD pass

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 13:29:22 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph caught four passes for 36 yards and one touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has posted three touchdowns in the last two games and has caught eight of his nine targets during that span. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end next week against the Carolina Panthers.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph gobbles up two scores

Thu, 23 Nov 2017 13:30:36 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph scored both of the Vikings' receiving touchdowns Thursday, Nov. 23, catching four passes for 63 yards in total.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph nearly doubled his touchdowns just in this game; he had only caught three on the season. There hasn't been enough love to go around between Rudolph, Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen, but Rudolph made his catches matter today. He'll remain a TE1 play as long as he's healthy.

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 15:43:14 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph hauled in five receptions for 58 yards on seven targets in the Week 11 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph remains a top-notch fantasy option, especially in PPR formats, with five or more receptions in six consecutive outings. He'll look to keep it rolling in Week 12 against the Lions on Thanksgiving.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph racks up five balls

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 17:52:47 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph posted five receptions for 37 yards on seven targets in Week 10 against the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: The catch total was nice, and he is always a strong PPR fantasy option. However, he isn't as valuable in standard leagues, especially when he doesn't find the end zone. The Vikings host the Rams in Week 12.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph catches TD pass

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 10:06:33 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph caught six passes for 27 yards and one touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has caught at least five passes in each of the last four games but has not posted more than 50 yards in any game this season. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end most weeks because of the number of targets he receives in the passing game.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph catches five passes

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 14:02:42 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph caught five passes for 43 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has recorded 16 catches on 25 targets over the last three games and has been more involved in the passing game since Stefon Diggs was sidelined. He will be a solid No. 1 tight end against the Cleveland Browns next week.

Vikings | Five grabs for Kyle Rudolph

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 16:21:35 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph posted five catches for 47 yards on nine targets in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph remains a solid low-end TE1 in all fantasy leagues, especially PPR formats. While he failed to find the end zone, he has posted 11 catches over the past two games. The Vikings host the Ravens in Week 7, a team which has struggled to contain tight ends this season.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph logs season highs on MNF

Mon, 09 Oct 2017 23:21:06 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph recorded six catches on nine targets for 51 receiving yards and a touchdown Monday, Oct. 9, against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Both the reception and target totals were season highs for the 27-year-old tight end, as he also managed to score his second touchdown of the campaign. While he's capable of having a dud on any given week, Rudolph is a decent lower-end TE1 to trot out in most formats.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph held to one catch

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 14:07:23 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph caught one pass for four yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph was targeted only twice in the game but may still be working on his chemistry with Case Keenum. He could be a low-end No. 1 tight end against the New York Giants this week but could also be benched if owners have better options.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph finishes with 45 yards

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 14:34:58 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph caught four passes for 45 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph was a reliable target for Case Keenum during game but probably would have had a better day if Sam Bradford played. Rudolph can be a No. 1 tight end against certain opponents, but his value will drop if Keenum starts.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph nabs touchdown in opener

Mon, 11 Sep 2017 22:05:29 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph reeled in all three of his targets for 26 yards in the season opener Monday, Sept. 11, versus the New Orleans Saints, also adding a touchdown reception in the victory.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph was able to salvage his night with that touchdown score, but that's certainly fewer than the anticipated number of targets that owners were expecting. In fact, he played in just two games last season in which he received less than four balls thrown his way. In any event, Rudolph will have mostly higher-volume games coming up as one of Sam Bradford's most-trusted weapons.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph says he is healthy

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 11:09:43 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (leg) said he is completely recovered from the leg injury that sidelined him for part of the preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph will continue to be a main part of the passing game after recording 840 yards and seven touchdowns in 2016. He should be considered a No. 1 tight end in all leagues this week against the New Orleans Saints.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph not playing Sunday

Sun, 27 Aug 2017 15:53:26 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (undisclosed) will not play in the preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, Aug. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph is dealing with an undisclosed injury, so owners should keep an eye on the situation to see when Rudolph will return to the field. He was a reliable option for owners last season and should have a similar role this season. He can be considered a No. 1 fantasy tight end in most leagues.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph misses practice

Thu, 24 Aug 2017 16:29:31 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Thursday, Aug. 24. He had a wrap on his right leg, but head coach Mike Zimmer had no comment about the situation.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to find out the severity of Rudolph's injury. He is coming off a terrific 2016 season where he posted 83 receptions, 840 yards and seven touchdowns. Rudolph should continue to be a solid target in the passing game and can be a No. 1 fantasy tight end.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph top targeted TE in scoring range

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 17:34:49 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph finished with 24 targets inside the red zone last year, including 10 inside the 10. Both marks were the best among tight ends.

Fantasy Tip: To put Rudolph's numbers inside the 20 and 10 into perspective, he saw more targets than Odell Beckham Jr. from both distances (24-21 and 10-9), caught more such passes than OBJ (14-9 and 6-4) and matched him at both levels in touchdowns. Perhaps the Vikings' talent upgrades along the offensive line will reduce their need to throw so quickly and lessen their dependence on Rudolph outside the 20, but he is a solid midrange TE1 and should remain the team's top option in the red zone.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph improving as a blocker

Sun, 18 Jun 2017 09:17:00 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph is doing a better job as a blocker, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

Fantasy Tip: Following a two-year stretch in which he played a total of 17 games, Rudolph has put together back-to-back full seasons and broke out last year with 83 catches for 840 yards - both career highs - and seven touchdowns. However, he graded out poorly as a run blocker, so this is a good sign for his current and future owners, as any improvement in that area should keep him on the field more than he already is. He is a midrange TE1 in fantasy.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph the go-to guy in red zone

Sun, 26 Feb 2017 19:57:11 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph was targeted 24 times in the red zone in 2016, ranking first among tight ends and second overall.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph emerged as one of Sam Bradford's favorite targets, and he finished among the league leaders at his position in most categories. With Bradford back under center in 2017, Rudolph should have no problem finishing as a midrange TE1.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph was NFL's most-targeted TE

Tue, 21 Feb 2017 20:46:47 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph led all tight ends this past season with 132 targets, converting that into career highs in receptions (83) and yards (840). He also registered seven receiving touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: It's understandable if most owners were not aware of this. Luckily for Rudolph, he could be on track for a similarly heavy workload next year, as his role in the offense undoubtedly increased once star running back Adrian Peterson went down with injury. Peterson might not return to Minnesota, and if he's out of town, Rudolph should ideally pick up where he left off as one of Sam Bradford's most dependable targets in the passing game.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph pleased with 2016 season

Fri, 03 Feb 2017 15:20:10 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph said his play in 2016 is more up to his standards and expects to post similar stats moving forward. "I talked about how my first five years were kind of disappointing to me, in terms of my standards," Rudolph said. "This season was more along the lines of what I expect for myself, and what I expect moving forward, to kind of be a springboard and a baseline for the rest of my career." Rudolph finished the 2016 season with 83 receptions for 840 yards and seven touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph posted career highs in receptions and receiving yards this season and was able to play all 16 games for the third time in his career. He should continue to be a main part of the passing game for the Vikings and can be a No. 1 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph busy in 2016

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 09:16:54 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph ran routes on 58 percent of his snaps and was targeted on a career-high 23.7 percent of his routes last season, according to ESPN Stats and Information.

Fantasy Tip: Unsurprisingly, he easily set career-highs in targets (132), catches (83), and yards (840). While Rudolph benefited from Vikings' shift from an Adrian Peterson-centric offense to a short-passing attack designed to camouflage the league's worst offensive line, it also helped Rudolph played all 16 games for only the third time in his six-year career. Since it is unlikely Minnesota can address all the holes it has up front in one offseason, Rudolph stands a great chance of posting high-end TE1 numbers again in 2017.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph had career year

Tue, 10 Jan 2017 07:42:10 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph had a career-high 83 catches for 840 yards, and his seven touchdowns were the most since 2012. He reached a performance escalator of $375,000 on 2018 and 2019 salaries for surpassing 80 catches. His 132 targets were the most among tight ends this season.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph rekindled his TE1 stature this season, and there's no reason to believe he can't build on the rapport with Sam Bradford next season. Rudolph will be a midrange TE1 option in drafts.

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph posted 11 receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown in the Week 17 game against the Chicago Bears. He was targeted 15 times.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph was a legitimate TE1 in all fantasy leagues down the stretch, posting four or more grabs in each of his final six games. Over the final four outings he had 29 grabs for 327 yards and two touchdowns.

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 14:28:29 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph caught six passes for 53 yards against the Green Bay Packers in Week 16.

Minnesota Vikings RB Kyle Rudolph rushed eight times for a game-high 97 yards on 10 targets in the Week 15 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has rolled up 27 receptions for 266 yards and a touchdown over the past four games, and he has been targeted 40 times. He has re-emerged as a solid low-end TE1 in most fantasy leagues for the stretch run.

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph posted four receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown in the Week 14 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was targeted a team-high eight times.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has emerged as a solid low-end TE1 in deeper fantasy leagues if you need an emergency replacement. He has 19 grabs for 169 yards on 30 targets over the past three games.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph the leading receiver

Thu, 24 Nov 2016 13:39:06 -0800

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph led the Vikings with nine catches for 64 yards in a Week 12 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: To be expected, Rudolph was targeted early and often with Stefon Diggs inactive. Unfortunately, Sam Bradford didn't throw many balls down the field, limiting Rudolph's ceiling. He's still a borderline TE1 going forward.

Mon, 31 Oct 2016 21:39:05 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph hauled in five balls for 31 yards in the Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears Monday, Oct. 31. He was targeted six times.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has five or more grabs in four of his past five outings, but he hasn't found the end zone in three games since a three-game scoring run from Week 2 through 5. He is best used as a TE2 in most fantasy leagues going forward.

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 17:03:06 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (rib) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 7, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 19:37:59 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ribs) was unable to take part in the practice session Wednesday, Oct. 5, due to a rib injury.

Fantasy Tip: Rudolph has scored a touchdown in each of the past three games, and he has 12 receptions for 125 yards over his past two outings. He has also been targeted seven or more times in each of his first four games, developing a nice rapport with Sam Bradford while re-emerging as a low-end TE1 in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Vikings | Sam Bradford trusts Kyle Rudolph

Fri, 30 Sep 2016 21:01:21 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph is easy to trust because of his big catch radius, according to QB Sam Bradford.

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (groin) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 3.

Vikings | No limitations for Kyle Rudolph

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 19:00:13 -0700

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (groin) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph limited

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 13:20:28 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (foot, fibula), WR Charles Johnson (quadriceps) and TE Kyle Rudolph (knee) were full participants in practice Thursday, Sept. 15.

Fantasy Tip: McKinnon needs to continue to warm the bench on fantasy rosters. Rudolph is a sneaky sleeper play as Bradford could look for a safety valve and more high percentage throws in his first start with his new team. Johnson was practically a no show last week and should not be started.

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph said he feels he is the best all-around tight end in the NFL, and he added that the position is about more than catching passes and running routes.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately, Rudolph's abilities as a blocker don't impact his fantasy value. He is a touchdown-dependent option and best suited as a fantasy backup.
