Patriots | No setbacks for Dion Lewis

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 11:16:06 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (knee) has not suffered any setbacks in his surgically repaired knee so far this offseason. The Patriots won't push him to return to action, though.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis will probably take it easy leading up to the regular season. New England is good about not taking any unnecessary risks, except for when it comes to air pressure in footballs, of course. If Lewis is at full health before the season starts, he'll be a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 consideration in PPR formats.

Patriots | Three notable Pats put on PUP list

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 16:13:35 -0700

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (ankle, knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) and RB Dion Lewis (knee) were all placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Amendola has had trouble staying on the field throughout his career and is an untrustworthy fantasy football commodity. Leave him to the waiver wire in standard leagues. Keep an eye on Edelman's progress this fall, but if he's ready for Week 1, he should be firmly in WR2 territory with more intrigue in PPR leagues. Despite a strong season for Lewis in 2015 before his injury, his injury makes him extremely risky. Not to mention the fact he's never had more than 50 carries in a season in the NFL. He's running back depth in deeper leagues and could be a flex option in certain weeks in PPR formats.

Patriots | No brace for Dion Lewis

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 11:51:37 -0700

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (knee) practiced Monday, June 13, without a brace on his left knee. Lewis said he feels better every day but that he still has a long way to go in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis was a PPR monster before suffering the injury last year. If he can return to full health then he'll be worth a look as a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 in PPR leagues.

Patriots | Dion Lewis back at practice

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 09:34:45 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (knee) is back at practice for the first time Monday, June 13. Lewis is recovering from November surgery to fix a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis will likely be overvalued in drafts this fall because he's essentially New England's No. 1 running back. But keep in mind he probably won't be 100% by the time Week 1 kicks off, and he had just 234 rushing yards on 49 carries for two touchdowns in his first season with the Pats. Lewis is surely more valuable in PPR formats (36 catches for 388 yards), but be careful not to reach for him given his injury and the uncertainty that allows accompanies a New England backfield.

Patriots | Dion Lewis says rehab going well

Sat, 04 Jun 2016 08:07:45 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (knee) said the rehab from his torn anterior cruciate ligament is going well and that he is doing what the trainers are allowing him to do. Lewis has not participated in offseason workouts and probably will miss the upcoming minicamp as well.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis may be limited during training camp but it is believed that should be ready for the start of the regular season. He should receive solid playing time in 2016 and will be used as a receiver out of the backfield. Lewis should be selected in all drafts but will have more value in point-per-reception leagues.

Patriots | Key Patriots absent Thursday

Thu, 26 May 2016 15:17:29 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot), RB LeGarrette Blount (knee), RB Dion Lewis (knee), WR Danny Amendola (ankle, knee) and TE Rob Gronkowski (undisclosed) did not participate in organized team activities Thursday, May 26.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots are infamous for their vague injury reports and resting of players. Obviously they're going to take caution with the players listed above, though. As long as none of these guys suffer any setbacks this offseason, they should be good to go for the start of the regular season. Edelman and Gronk should both be viewed as fantasy starters at their respective positions, with more value in PPR formats. Lewis is an RB2 candidate in PPR formats if he can stay healthy, while Blount has RB3 potential if he, too, can keep his health. Amendola is the biggest injury risk; he shouldn't be viewed as more than a low-end WR4 to high-end WR5.

Patriots | Dion Lewis optimistic for Week 1

Tue, 24 May 2016 08:30:41 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (knee) has given signs of optimism for being ready for the start of the season. Some close to Lewis feel that he's about a month away from being able to play in a game. The team plans to be conservative with him, and his repetitions in organized team activities will be limited at best.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis emerged as a PPR gem before going down with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. However, he only rushed 10 times in a game once last season. So don't overvalue him. He's a solid RB3 if he doesn't have any setbacks.

Patriots | Dion Lewis recovering well

Sun, 21 Feb 2016 12:16:13 -0800

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis' (knee) recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament has impressed well-known surgeon Dr. James Andrews, who performed the surgery on Lewis late last year. When Lewis visited Andrews in January, things were exactly where they should be, if not better. Lewis will gradually work his way back this offseason, but the Patriots anticipate him being ready for the start of the 2016 season.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis took the NFL by storm last season before suffering the torn ACL. He was a No. 1 fantasy running back, too, averaging 17.5 fantasy points per game through seven games in PPR leagues. The Patriots' backfield will likely look a little different next season, but Lewis is still worth a shot as at least a RB2 if he's at full health.

Patriots | New England likely to add at RB

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 21:06:41 -0800

New England Patriots RB James White played 57 of the 83 offensive snaps in the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos Sunday, Jan. 24, and RB Brandon Bolden played 16. RB Steven Jackson rounded things out with 11 snaps. The team will also get RB Dion Lewis (knee) back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in 2016, while RB LeGarrette Blount is an impending free agent. The team might face an offseason similar to 2011 when the selected a pair of backs in the NFL Draft.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis has the potential to be the top running back with this current group, with White and Bolden as solid backups. However, look for a rookie, and possibly a veteran running back, to be added in the offseason to provide competition.

Patriots | LeGarrette Blount staying with Patriots?

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 13:50:08 -0800

New England Patriots impending free-agent RB LeGarrette Blount could be on his way out of New England as he enters free agency this offseason. RB Dion Lewis (knee) will return from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and RB James White filled in nicely for Lewis. The Patriots also have another big back on their roster in RB Steven Jackson, putting Blount's future with New England in limbo.

Fantasy Tip: Gone are the days of Blount rushing for hundreds of yards and multiple touchdowns. The Patriots do need a ground-and-pound type of running back, but Blount may not be the answer for the future. This situation will play out over the course of the next few months, but Blount may be heading for fantasy irrelevancy.

Patriots | Dion Lewis placed on IR

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 14:35:17 -0800

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Nov. 9. Lewis is out for the year with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Tip: James White and Brandon Bolden will be in line to take over Lewis's playing time as the Patriots' passing-down back. It's hard to tell right now who will be used more than the other, but both are worth a pickup if they're available in seasonal leagues.

Patriots | James White to replace Dion Lewis?

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 13:48:36 -0800

New England Patriots RB James White is the top candidate to replace RB Dion Lewis (knee) as the Patriots' passing down running back, according to ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. RB Brandon Bolden will also be in the mix, and played well replacing Lewis in Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Both White and Bolden are worth a waiver wire pickup if they're available. Bolden seems like the guy to own after yesterday, but White played as Lewis's successor two weeks ago when Lewis was sidelined. It may not be known who exactly will be the main successor to Lewis until the Patriots play their next game.

Patriots | Dion Lewis has torn ACL

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 10:44:17 -0800

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (knee) will miss the rest of the 2015 season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Tip: James White and Brandon Bolden likely will be more involved in the offense with Lewis out for the season. LeGarrette Blount should continue to receive most of the carries, but White and Bolden could be options in the passing game. Owners may want to wait a week to see which one receives more touches before considering one on FantasyScore.

Patriots | Good sign for Dion Lewis?

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 22:51:13 -0800

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (knee) is scheduled to have an MRI Monday, Nov. 9. His anterior cruciate ligament is loose, which is not a good sign. However, he has no swelling yet, and that is considered a good sign.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis will miss time, so that's good news for the FantasyScore outlooks of LeGarrette Blount ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) and Brandon Bolden ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) going forward.

Patriots | Dion Lewis set to have MRI

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 15:36:27 -0800

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (knee) left the Week 9 game against the Washington Redskins due to a knee injury. The team will not know the full extent of his injury until he has an MRI, but the hope is he has a medial collateral ligament sprain and nothing more severe.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) already has had one ACL injury in his career, so hopefully this doesn't turn into his second such injury. Either way, LeGarrette Blount ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is likely to see more touches with Brandon Bolden ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) re-emerging as a pass-catching option out of the backfield.

Patriots | Dion Lewis won't return

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 12:12:35 -0800

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (knee) will not return versus the Washington Redskins after suffering a non-contact knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: This could be a serious injury for Lewis; non-contact injuries don't usually bode well. Again, if Lewis misses time, LeGarrette Blount should immediately be picked up if he is available. James White could also see an increased role in the passing game.

Patriots | Dion Lewis injured in Week 9

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 12:04:15 -0800

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (knee) left with a left knee injury in Week 9 against the Washington Redskins. Lewis went down without contact and was looked at by trainers after walking off the field under his own power.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis has played an integral role in the Patriots' undefeated season. If Lewis misses any extended time, LeGarrette Blount would be the undeniable featured running back, and James White could take over as the passing down running back.

Patriots | Julian Edelman, Dion Lewis will play

Fri, 06 Nov 2015 14:19:05 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (knee) and RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) were both limited in practice all week, but both are listed as probable for Week 9 against the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: The 'Skins secondary is certainly beatable, making Edelman ($8,200, 16.4% of cap) worth paying up for in daily universes. Lewis ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) remains hard to pass up for that price, especially since New England may call his number often in order to beat Washington's strong defensive front.

Patriots | Julian Edelman, Dion Lewis limited

Thu, 05 Nov 2015 13:52:51 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (knee) and RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) were limited participants in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Tip: These two will really need to be monitored heading into the weekend, although it is promising that they have both at least practiced, even though they've been limited. Edelman ($8,200, 16.4% of cap) would have a better matchup than Lewis ($6,800, 13.6%) as the Washington Redskins have been much more lenient against the pass than the run. Again, look for updates on Edelman and Lewis before Sunday's game.

Patriots | Dion Lewis limited Wednesday

Wed, 04 Nov 2015 16:05:54 -0800

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) was also limited last week with the abdomen injury and still played and performed well. The Washington Redskins may pose a tougher test, though, as they have only allowed three touchdowns to running backs.

Patriots | Dion Lewis productive in return

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 20:49:41 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) returned from a one-game absence and finished with six catches for 93 yards and a touchdown and five catches for 19 yards in a 36-7 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($6,700 13.4% of cap) saw the most snaps of any back in his return, and he continues do more than enough damage in the passing game to warrant a starting spot at FantasyScore.

Patriots | Dion Lewis will play vs. Miami

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 16:09:54 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) is active Thursday night against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: The Dolphins have been a completely new team, and defense, over the last two games. Lewis ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) is somewhat of a risky play tonight, plus LeGarrette Blount ($5,300, 10.6%) will be taking some playing time away from him. Still, Lewis should be involved in the passing game, so he has more value in PPR scoring formats.

Patriots | Dion Lewis ready to go

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 09:37:06 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) is playing Thursday, Oct. 29, against the Miami Dolphins. Lewis sat out of the Week 7 game to be healthy for this game.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) has a middling matchup against the Dolphins, and he's a low-end RB2 on FantasyScore.

Patriots | Dion Lewis listed as questionable

Wed, 28 Oct 2015 13:55:32 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for the Week 8 game against the Miami Dolphins Thursday, Oct. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) probably will be a game-time decision for the game, so owners will need to check the inactive list. Lewis will be a risky option since he missed the last game and is facing a short week, so owners should have other options ready to use.

Patriots | Dion Lewis to be game-time decision?

Wed, 28 Oct 2015 12:21:58 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis' (abdomen) status for the Week 8 game against the Miami Dolphins Thursday, Oct. 29, remains up in the air, and head coach Bill Belichick said the team will find out Thursday if he can play. RB James White played 64% of the snaps in Week 7 to RB LeGarrette Blount's 12% as the Patriots went with a spread offense.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Lewis ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) plays, he could find his snaps limited with White filling in against the Dolphins. It's already difficult enough to predict New England's backfield utilizations on a week-to-week basis as it is. Lewis is a pretty risky daily pick this week.

Patriots | Dion Lewis limited again Tuesday

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 14:55:36 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) was limited during a laid-back walkthrough practice Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: It's a good sign that Lewis ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) is practicing in advance of a short week against the Miami Dolphins. However, it's a big risk choosing him on FantasyScore with only a few extra days to recover after sitting out in Week 7, plus the New England backfield is always tough to predict.

Patriots | Dion Lewis listed as limited

Mon, 26 Oct 2015 14:03:02 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) was limited during practice Monday, Oct. 26. The Patriots did not practice, so this is an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis missed the last game because of his injury, so owners should monitor his situation over the next few days. The Patriots be playing the Miami Dolphins Thursday, Oct. 29, which does not give Lewis a lot of time to prepare for the game. Owners may want to consider other options because of Lewis' uncertain status.

Patriots | Dion Lewis will not play

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 08:35:57 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) has been declared inactive for the Week 7 game against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: James White ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) likely will handle Lewis' role during the game and could be valuable in point-per-reception leagues. White has not received a lot of playing time this season but could be a flex option for owners on FantasyScore looking to spend money at other positions.

Patriots | Dion Lewis not expected to play

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 07:51:12 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) is not expected to play in the Week 7 game against the New York Jets, but the team wants to see him work out one more time before making a decision.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis' ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) status will be known after the team releases their inactive list. He could be limited if he does play, so owners may want to avoid him this week. LeGarrette Blount ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) likely will handle most of the carries, while James White ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Brandon Bolden ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) could be involved in the passing game. Blount could be a solid starting option for owners, but owners probably can pass on the other two backs.

Patriots | Dion Lewis expected to play

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 16:42:33 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) is expected to play in the Week 7 game against the New York Jets even though he is listed as questionable for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) has been limited over the last few weeks during practice because of the injury but has been able to play. He will be facing a tough Jets defense this week and may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Patriots | Dion Lewis listed as questionable

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 13:30:15 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 23, and is questionable for Week 7 against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) could be limited again if he even plays against the Jets. New York yields the fewest PPR fantasy points (16.0) per game to running backs this year and have allowed just one receiving TD to a rusher. Lewis is a very weak daily option.

Patriots | Dion Lewis listed as limited

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 13:33:39 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) probably will be able to play against the New York Jets in Week 7, but owners should look for any updates. Lewis has been producing in the running and passing game this season and has recorded a touchdown in three of the last four games. He will be a risky option for owners since the Jets allow the fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs this season.

Patriots | Dion Lewis limited

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 14:47:19 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) will be sharing playing time with LeGarrette Blount ($5,300, 10.6%), he's dealing with an injury and is facing a tough New York Jets' rush defense. He's been one of the biggest surprises in football this year, but Lewis is a somewhat risky FantasyScore selection for Week 7.

Sun, 18 Oct 2015 16:39:08 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) is active for the Week 6 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Sat, 17 Oct 2015 16:43:46 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) hasn't had any setbacks and is good to go Sunday, Oct. 18, against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) appears to have a chance to play this week but owners will need to check the inactive list before deciding on their lineups. Lewis has been involved in the running and passing game this season and should be a starting option each week.

Fantasy Tip: This doesn't appear to be a serious injury, but it should be kept track of leading up to Sunday night's tilt with the Indianapolis Colts. Assuming Lewis doesn't suffer any setbacks and plays, he's a great option again at $5,900 (11.8% of cap) on FantasyScore.

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis was on the field for 43 snaps against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5, finishing with six carries for 34 yards and eight catches for 59 yards and a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Fellow back LeGarrette Blount ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) was on the field for just 13 snaps, and while he did run for 74 yards, Lewis ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is the safer play at FantasyScore right now.

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis is facing a Dallas Cowboys defense that has surrendered 333 receiving yards to opposing running backs this year -- second most in the league behind the Atlanta Falcons (365 receiving yards to running backs).

Fantasy Tip: Lewis has been possibly the biggest pleasant surprise in fantasy football so far this year. He has been used frequently in the passing game, giving him added value in PPR leagues. Lewis ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is a great investment in Week 5 on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) faces a leaky Dallas Cowboys run defense this week and is a solid RB2 on FantasyScore.

Patriots | Dion Lewis similar to former NE RB

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 13:27:26 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis reminds running backs coach Ivan Fears of former Patriots RB Kevin Faulk. "He's very similar to Kevin. The only limitation that these guys have had is the size factor," Fears said. "Everybody just knocked them because of it. But believe me, they've proven a lot of people wrong." Fears did also say that Lewis still has a lot of work to do.

Fantasy Tip: If Lewis still has a lot of work to do then he'll be in for one heck of a season. Through three games, Lewis has 325 total yards and two touchdowns. He has become a must-start in PPR leagues as he is averaging five catches and 59.6 receiving yards per game.

Patriots | Dion Lewis shares the load

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 16:20:45 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis had eight carries for 37 yards and a touchdown and five catches for 30 yards in a 51-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) took a backseat to LeGarrette Blount ($4,400, 8.8% of cap), but he still salvaged a solid game despite logging 10 fewer carries than Blount. Expect a committee approach going forward, but Lewis should be the more reliable of the two at FantasyScore thanks to his steady role in the passing game.

Patriots | Dion Lewis a focal point of offense

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 11:37:59 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis had 138 yards from scrimmage in the Patriots' Week 2 win over the Buffalo Bills, which included six catches for 98 yards. Many of Lewis' catches came with him lined up at receiver, and he continued to play notable snaps after fumbling. RB LeGarrette Blount had just two carries in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Don't expect Blount ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) to have that few carries each week, and the running back usage was likely a big result of the matchup against Buffalo, too. Regardless, Lewis ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is easily the most dynamic back in the New England backfield and is very useful in point-per-reception leagues. You can't argue with that FantasyScore value on a week-to-week basis, either.

Patriots | Dion Lewis dominates snaps

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 05:51:39 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis played 73 of 86 offensive snaps Sunday, Sept. 20, in Week 2. RB LeGarrette Blount played just seven snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) had 40 yards rushing and six catches for 98 yards receiving. Tom Brady threw 59 times, which is the second-highest of his career. Lewis is the top receiving back, which explains why the split was so drastic. Blount ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) could have a chance to shine on FantasyScore against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3.

Patriots | LeGarrette Blount, Dion Lewis to share?

Tue, 15 Sep 2015 16:16:20 -0700

New England Patriots RBs LeGarrette Blount and Dion Lewis could form a 50-50 split at running back in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills. Blount has scored 14 touchdowns in 12 games since late 2013 and is the team's best goal-line option. He figures to be heavily involved in the backfield moving forward. Lewis has taken over the role as the third-down back but is also capable of playing early downs. When the Patriots have faced stout run defenses like the Bills, they have often given more touches to the change-of-pace running back.

Fantasy Tip: Blount ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is the Pats running back to own in standard leagues, while Lewis' ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) value lies in point-per-reception formats. It'll be interesting to see how the touches play out in Week 2, but a stout Buffalo defensive front could make things even tougher for both Blount and Lewis to put up points for their owners.

Patriots | Dion Lewis heads the backfield

Thu, 10 Sep 2015 21:20:34 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis had a team-high 15 carries for 69 yards and caught four passes for 51 yards in a 28-21 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1 Thursday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: New England's running back rotation is notorious for changing from one week to the next, but it looks like Lewis ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) could have a sizeable role. That being said, LeGarrette Blount ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is set to return in Week 2, so Lewis is by no means a lock to have the same workload.

Patriots | Two contenders in NE for third-down RB

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 15:32:56 -0700

New England Patriots RBs James White and Dion Lewis combined for 12 carries and 45 yards and added six catches for 56 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Considering five of those six catches came from Lewis, that could give him a leg up in the race to replace RB Shane Vereen. Whoever gets this job could see some decent time in the Patriots' running game, so monitor how this goes.

Patriots | Dion Lewis could potentially start

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 18:30:52 -0700

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis is in the mix for the race to be the first running back on the field in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis is fighting with RBs Travaris Cadet, Jonas Gray and James White for touches in training camp and the preseason. This is a position battle which is wide open and bears watching once the exhibition schedule gets underway, although it is a competition which could spill into the regular season, too.
