Twins | Brian Dozier makes adjustment

Tue, 03 May 2016 17:51:27 -0700

Minnesota Twins 2B Brian Dozier said he realized he was standing too close to the plate while watching video with hitting coach Tom Brunansky. He's been better over the last week or so, registering a .250/.308/.417 line with a home run, three doubles and six RBI in his past eight games.

Fantasy Tip: This might explain why Dozier was struggling so mightily through April, as it took a three-hit effort on Monday night just to get his season average up over the Mendoza Line. Considering he was an All-Star last year and is one of the best power-hitting second baseman in the league, his owners should be hopeful that he can break out of his rut and start producing more consistently again.

Twins | Brian Dozier snaps slump

Mon, 02 May 2016 23:59:05 -0700

Minnesota Twins 2B Brian Dozier snapped an 0-for-16 slump with three hits Monday, May 2.

Fantasy Tip: Dozier has never hit higher than .244, so his .204 average is expected to be part of the package. Keep him in your lineups.

Twins | Brian Dozier, Byron Buxton out

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 13:57:28 -0700

Minnesota Twins 2B Brian Dozier and OF Byron Buxton (hand) are not in the starting lineup Friday, April 15. SS Eduardo Nunez is at the keystone and leading off, while OF Oswaldo Arcia is starting in left field and hitting fifth against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Garrett Richards. Also, OF Eddie Rosario moves from left field to center field, and he's hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton's hand is bruised, so he could return at any point this weekend. He's off to a bad start, though, so you may want to bench him where you own him until he gets things going. Nunez and Arcia are in favorable lineup spots, but until the Twins get going offensively, nobody in their lineup is really attractive in daily games.

Twins | Brian Dozier completely healthy

Fri, 26 Feb 2016 17:18:24 -0800

Minnesota Twins 2B Brian Dozier (hip) said he delayed his offseason conditioning program as he recovered from a torn labrum in his right hip. He decided not to undergo surgery and took two months off from training instead of one month. Dozier said that he feels "110 percent" and added that he "felt like (he) was 16 again" after taking extra time to rest.

Fantasy Tip: Dozier batted .236 with 28 home runs and 77 RBIs last season but only hit .210 after the All-Star break, so the labrum injury appears to have been a factor in his declining numbers. Now that he is completely healthy, owners in mixed fantasy leagues should consider selecting him in the early middle rounds of this year's drafts.

Twins | Brian Dozier not in lineup Sunday

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 12:06:20 -0700

Minnesota Twins 2B Brian Dozier is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Johnny Cueto Sunday, Oct. 4. INF Eduardo Escobar will start at second base and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is only 2-for-18 over the past week and is not a great middle infield option in FantasyScore.

Twins | Brian Dozier sitting against Angels

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 08:39:30 -0700

Minnesota Twins 2B Brian Dozier is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Sept. 20. SS Eduardo Nunez draws into the lineup and is batting ninth against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Matt Shoemaker Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Dozier ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has slowed down significantly in the second half with a .206/.286/.361 slash line. It isn't out of the question to surf the waiver wire for an upgrade in seasonal leagues. Nunez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) offers sneaky upside at FantasyScore with a .313/.350/.443 line against right-handed hurlers this season.

Twins | Brian Dozier leading off

Sat, 19 Sep 2015 15:23:19 -0700

Minnesota Twins 2B Brian Dozier is leading off for Game 2 of a doubleheader Saturday, Sept. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Dozier ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has a .256-22-52 line in 375 at-bats at leadoff as opposed to a .210-5-16 line in 167 at-bats in the two-hole. He's a boom-or-bust play on FantasyScore against Garrett Richards.

Twins | Brian Dozier sitting vs. Cleveland

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 15:13:37 -0700

Minnesota Twins 2B Brian Dozier is not in the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 14. SS Eduardo Escobar is starting at second base and batting seventh against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Dozier ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. He has emerged as the premiere power hitter at the keystone this season with 24 home runs. Escobar ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is nothing more than a low-priced flier at FantasyScore Friday, and you should likely aim higher.
