Packers | Randall Cobb quiet in victory

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 21:24:21 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb posted six receptions for 41 yards in the Week 12 game against the Philadelphia Eagles Monday, Nov. 28. He was targeted seven times.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb appears to have fallen behind Davante Adams in the pecking order among wideouts. That's not good for his fantasy appeal going forward. Treat him more as a WR3 heading into Week 13 against the Houston Texans.

Packers | Randall Cobb limited yet again

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 13:45:11 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice for the third straight day Friday, Nov. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb typically gets in limited sessions these days, so this is just par for the course for the 26-year-old. Since he's not even listed on the injury report, his status for Sunday evening's tilt with the Redskins is not in jeopardy at all. Although he's hauled in only six catches over the past couple of weeks, Cobb has a very favorable matchup on tap in a game that figures to feature plenty of points, making him a fine WR2 option to deploy.

Packers | Limited practice for Randall Cobb

Thu, 17 Nov 2016 14:12:31 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb has scored three times in his last four games, but he has only totaled 45 yards in his last two games. There is a plethora of mouths to feed in Green Bay, and if Cobb is on a snap count this week then he might be too risky to start. Keep tabs on his status heading into the weekend.

Packers | Randall Cobb limited Wednesday

Wed, 16 Nov 2016 14:14:52 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb was targeted eight times in the last game but finished with only 31 yards on four catches. He will continue to be a main part of the team's passing game over the last six weeks of the season and can be a No. 2 receiver in most fantasy leagues as long as he is able to play.

Packers | Randall Cobb limited in practice again

Fri, 11 Nov 2016 14:03:09 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice for the third straight day Friday, Nov. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Even though he's been limited all week, head coach Mike McCarthy has already gone on record of saying that Cobb will be without restrictions in Week 10. In other words, the veteran wide-out will have a good shot of producing his usual WR2 value versus the Titans on Sunday.

Packers | No limits on Randall Cobb

Fri, 11 Nov 2016 10:33:46 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) will be a "full-time player" in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb missed his first game since 2013 in Week 8 and was limited to second-half snaps in Week 9, but he still managed to score a touchdown last week. He appeared to have his usual quickness when he did enter the game, so owners shouldn't be overly concerned about rust. With Green Bay relying almost exclusively on the passing game in recent weeks, Cobb should be viewed as a player with WR1 upside almost every week.

Packers | Randall Cobb has limited reps

Thu, 10 Nov 2016 14:31:22 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb was on a snap count last week after being injured, but he still caught a touchdown on two targets. The Packers might choose to limit him again in order to limit the risk of aggravation. Keep tabs on his status, but be prepared for an alternative plan.

Packers | Limited participation for Randall Cobb

Wed, 09 Nov 2016 14:54:37 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb was able to play in Week 9 despite the injury and caught a touchdown for the third straight game but was limited to 14 yards. Cobb should be able to play this week as long as he does not suffer a setback. He will be a risky option for owners but can still be a starting option if he is active.

Packers | Randall Cobb used sparingly

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 21:12:34 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) had a pair of receptions for 14 yards with a touchdown in the Week 9 game against the Indianapolis Colts. He was targeted just twice.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb did not see any snaps in the first half, as the team held him out as a precaution. Despite being used sparingly he has a touchdown in each of his past three games. He is a decent WR3 in most fantasy leagues when healthy, but watch his practices and status closely next week before pulling the trigger on him in Week 10.

Packers | Randall Cobb active

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 12:21:16 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) is active for the team's Week 9 game.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb will be playing even though he was limited during practice this week. It is not known how much playing time he will receive, which makes him a risky option. Owners in leagues may want to look for healthier options to use in their lineups, but Cobb could be started as a No. 3 receiver or flex option.

Packers | Randall Cobb not expected to play

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 08:15:52 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) appears unlikely to play in Week 9's game against the Indianapolis Colts, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb was a limited participant in practice throughout the week and had been listed as questionable on the injury report. Fantasy owners should already have alternate wide receiver options on hand with Cobb expected to miss his second consecutive game.

Packers | Randall Cobb questionable for Week 9

Fri, 04 Nov 2016 13:33:42 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 9. The Packers did not practice Friday, so this is an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb was not able to play in the last game, so owners will need to keep an eye on the situation over the weekend. He would have a solid role in the passing game if he plays and can be considered a No. 2 receiver in leagues.

Packers | Randall Cobb a game-time call

Fri, 04 Nov 2016 07:59:17 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) will be a game-time decision in Week 9, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Fantasy Tip: The Indianapolis Colts are actually decent against opposing wide receivers as they've only allowed five touchdowns to them thus far. Cobb hasn't been able to play well through injuries in the past, and he might not be worth the risk this week.

Packers | Randall Cobb limited again

Thu, 03 Nov 2016 14:25:11 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

Fantasy Tip: It's unlikely that Cobb would miss his second straight game after practicing throughout the week. If he doesn't suffer any setbacks then he should be good to go. If he is active then he'll be in WR2 territory with more value in PPR formats.

Packers | Limited practice for Randall Cobb

Wed, 02 Nov 2016 14:58:15 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb won't to miss out on this week's outing. He and the Packers could be in for a shootout with the Indianapolis Colts. If Cobb is active then he's a viable WR2. He, Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams are all automatic starts as long as they're healthy. The Packers still have no running game to speak of, so they'll continue to pass early and often.

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 12:08:38 -0700

The Green Bay Packers have declared LB Clay Matthews, CB Damarious Randall, RB James Starks, TE Jared Cook, CB Quinten Rollins, WR Randall Cobb, WR Ty Montgomery inactive for Week 8.

Packers | Randall Cobb ruled out for Week 8

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 06:40:45 -0700

Confirming a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) will not play in Week 8's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers appear to be holding Cobb out of this game as a precautionary measure, even though he had 11 catches for 95 yards and a touchdown last week against the Chicago Bears. He was limited in practice throughout the week and was listed as doubtful on the most recent version of the injury report. WRs Davante Adams and Ty Montgomery should see slight fantasy boosts as a result of this development, in what has the potential to be a high-scoring affair versus Atlanta.

Packers | Randall Cobb unlikely to play in Atlanta

Sat, 29 Oct 2016 22:38:53 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) is not expected to play in the club's Week 8 game against the Atlanta Falcons, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The team will apparently play it safe with Cobb's hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: This is a bit of a surprise given the Packers last played Thursday, Oct. 20, and Cobb was a major part of the newly adopted short-passing game. This figures to push the involvement of Ty Montgomery, who was listed as questionable with an illness, and Davante Adams skyward. Make sure to get Cobb out of your lineup now and slot in a capable replacement.

Packers | Randall Cobb listed as questionable

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 13:51:53 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 8. The Packers did not practice Friday, so this is an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb should be able to play against the Atlanta Falcons and has been targeted at least 11 times in each of the last three games. Cobb should be a solid No. 2 wide receiver for all fantasy owners.

Packers | Randall Cobb limited again

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 14:03:16 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb is looking iffy for this weekend's tilt and we may not know if he's active or not until game time. He is a low-end WR1 to high-end WR2 if he does play, but have a backup plan ready in case he doesn't progress this weekend.

Packers | Limited practice for Randall Cobb

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 13:52:06 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb has seen a great influx of targets the last three weeks. He has been targeted 37 times in that span, resulting in 256 yards and two touchdowns. He is undoubtedly the Packers' possession receiver and should be viewed as a low-end WR1 to high-end WR2 in a possible aerial assault versus the Atlanta Falcons. This is assuming Cobb is healthy and doesn't regress in practice, of course.

Packers | Randall Cobb finds end zone again

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 20:55:46 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb caught 11-of-15 targets for 95 yards and a touchdown in a Week 7 victory over the Chicago Bears. Cobb also added five carries for 21 yards.

Fantasy Tip: As great as Cobb's final line was, it could have been even better. He had a potential first-quarter TD catch knocked away at the last second and couldn't quite get his second foot down inbounds on another potential first-half score. It finally came all together for him and Aaron Rodgers on a beautiful corner route late in the fourth quarter. Cobb is essentially serving as an extension of the running game with Green Bay's backfield in shambles. His current role makes him a solid WR2 in PPR with WR1 upside.

Packers | Randall Cobb has full practice

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 13:33:51 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (back) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb has been upgraded every day of practice this week, so he'll be good to go Thursday night against the Chicago Bears. He and Jordy Nelson should be looked at frequently through the air since the Packers are hurting so much at running back. Cobb is comfortably in the WR2 conversation this week.

Packers | Randall Cobb has limited practice

Tue, 18 Oct 2016 14:25:01 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (back) was limited in practice Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb didn't practice yesterday, so his limited status is promising. He may be limited tomorrow, too, in which case he could be a game-time decision for Thursday night. It seems like he's on the better side of playing, though, and should be viewed as a WR2 as Cobb and Jordy Nelson could be targeted heavily.

Packers | No practice for Randall Cobb

Mon, 17 Oct 2016 14:21:01 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (back) did not practice Monday, Oct. 17. The Packers did not practice; Cobb's status is an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb has put up back-to-back quality outings the last two weeks, totaling 16 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown in those two contests combined. He was targeted 11 times in each of those two games, too, so Cobb is officially back on track. If he's good to go for this Thursday, then view him as a WR2.

Packers | Randall Cobb finds the end zone

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 22:59:43 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb managed seven receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets in the Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb is a solid complement to Jordy Nelson and he remains a decent WR3 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 7 against the Bears Thursday night.

Packers | Eddie Lacy will play

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 12:31:50 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) will play Sunday, Oct. 16, against the Dallas Cowboys. WR Randall Cobb will serve as Lacy's backup.

Packers | Randall Cobb could see snaps at RB

Sat, 15 Oct 2016 09:07:40 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb has logged five carries already this season, but he could be in line for a few more in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys given the current state of the Packers' backfield.

Fantasy Tip: Eddie Lacy is nursing an ankle injury that limited him all week, while James Starks has a knee injury and has been away from the team due to a death in the family. The Packers don't have another back on the active roster and have yet to promote practice-squader Don Jackson, indicating some belief Lacy will be able to manage his usual load. If Starks is unable to go as most expect, it would leave Cobb and Ty Montgomery as the primary backups. Regardless, Cobb will remain a solid WR2 this week.

Packers | Randall Cobb ready to play

Fri, 14 Oct 2016 13:21:50 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (neck) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 14, and is not on the injury report for Week 6. The Packers did not practice Friday, so this is an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb is coming off a 108-yard performance in Week 5 and should continue to be targeted in the passing game. Owners should consider Cobb a solid No. 2 receiver in most leagues.

Packers | Limited practice for Randall Cobb

Thu, 13 Oct 2016 14:12:50 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (neck) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers are confident Cobb will take the field this week despite his limited status. He's coming off a breakout performance in Week 5 and remains a WR2 candidate despite a tougher matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

Packers | Confident Randall Cobb will play

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 21:08:44 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (neck) suffered a neck injury in the closing minutes of the Week 5 game against the New York Giants. QB Aaron Rodgers said Wednesday, Oct. 12, that he doesn't expect Cobb to be inactive for Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys. "I don't see that happening," Rodgers said. If Cobb plays, he could potentially see some carries out of the backfield with the running backs banged up.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb is a risky fantasy play given his uncertain status, as Rodgers could simply just be optimistic and hopeful. Wait to see if Cobb is listed as a full participant in practice and listed as probable for Week 6. If he is listed as questionable, it might be a good idea to go another way in fantasy leagues.

Packers | Randall Cobb limited

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 15:21:23 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (neck) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to sit if Cobb is in any danger of missing the Week 6 game. Cobb is coming off a 108-yard performance in his last game and will continue to have a solid role in the passing game if he is active. Owners should consider him a No. 2 receiver in most leagues.

Packers | Randall Cobb should play

Mon, 10 Oct 2016 14:41:12 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (head) should be good to go for Week 6 despite suffering a head injury late in the Packers' Week 5 contest against the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb had his best game of the year so far in Week 5, catching nine balls for 108 yards. He should continue to be Aaron Rodgers' No. 2 wide receiver behind Jordy Nelson, but Cobb gives Rodgers a nice safety blanket out of the slot. View Cobb as a low-end WR2 or flex play in Week 6 against a tougher Dallas Cowboys defense.

Packers | Randall Cobb shaken up late

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 20:27:38 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (head) suffered an apparent head or neck injury late in the Week 5 game against the New York Giants on a reception and first down.

Fantasy Tip: The exact source and severity of Cobb's injury is not yet certain, but he took a shot to the neck or head area and his head bent quite a bit to the right on a shot from Landon Collins. More info when we know it.

Packers | Randall Cobb struggling as runner

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 19:24:01 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb is averaging 3.0 yards per carry this season when used as a running back, but head coach Mike McCarthy said Cobb hasn't had enough carries to make a judgement on the effectiveness of the package.

Fantasy Tip: The Green Bay offense continues to lack explosive plays in all areas, and Cobb's value is suffering as a result. Consider him a WR3 against the Detroit Lions in Week 3.

Packers | Randall Cobb played hurt, lost strength

Tue, 30 Aug 2016 06:16:24 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb sprained the AC joint in his right shoulder in the third preseason game last season, and he never fully recovered the entire season. The injury kept him from lifting weights, and he lost strength. "I lost a lot of weight last year during the season," Cobb said. "It doesn't help when you can't do much upper-body (training) to hold your strength. Yeah, obviously, it weighed a lot on me but I feel great right now, and that's the plan - to try to maintain my weight and try to stay as injury-free as I can."

Fantasy Tip: Cobb had an underwhelming 79-829-6 season, but he was also hurt by the loss of Jordy Nelson. Nelson is back, and Cobb should be back to the WR2 image he cemented in fantasy.

Packers | Randall Cobb on practice field

Sun, 14 Aug 2016 10:58:03 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (calf) is participating in practice Sunday, Aug. 14, after missing the first preseason game Friday, Aug. 12.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Cobb was dealing with a minor injury and should play in the next preseason game. Cobb should be one of the main targets in the passing game this season and will be a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Packers | Randall Cobb on the sidelines

Wed, 10 Aug 2016 12:26:42 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (calf) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb probably is dealing with a minor injury and should return to practice in the near future. Cobb will be one of the focal points in the Packers' passing game in 2016 and should be a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Packers | Randall Cobb working as third-down back

Wed, 10 Aug 2016 00:04:56 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb continued to see significant opportunities as a third-down back in practice on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb has lined up in the backfield before, but if the team expands that aspect of his game it could lead to a marked uptick in receptions. While it's worth keeping an eye on, Cobb is still best drafted as a WR2 after a disappointing 2015.

Packers | Randall Cobb references Pokemon GO

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 22:59:17 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb was at practice Tuesday, July 26, and was apparently bitten by Pokemon GO craziness in the offseason. "As a receiver group, we consider ourselves playing Pokemon right now. We're trying to catch them all. We're going to go out there and try making as many plays as we can," Cobb said.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners hope Cobb can be like a Vaporeon or a Snorlax with a CP of 1,500 or more tearing up opposing gyms. For those who aren't millennials or playing the game with their kids, it means fantasy owners hope Cobb can rack up 100 or more receptions, 10 touchdowns and continue to be a WR1/2 in all formats.

Packers | Randall Cobb needs a bounce back

Wed, 13 Jul 2016 20:23:26 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb led the team with 79 receptions in 2015, but he managed a career-low 10.5 yards per catch in 2015. He also had 14 dropped passes, more than any other Green Bay receiver over the past 25 years. And when Cobb drew more attention than usual from the slot, he couldn't separate from elite corners or nickel backs.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb didn't have a lot of help on the other side, as Jordy Nelson missed the season and Davante Adams was inconsistent. Cobb should benefit from the consistency of Nelson, but he also should see less targets and receptions as long as Nelson is the top dog and on the field. Cobb remains a Top 25 fantasy option at his position, however.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers, others excused

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 09:23:25 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and other select veterans have been excused from mandatory minicamp this week by head coach Mike McCarthy. WRs Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson were also included in that group. "The approach is different than the past," McCarthy said. "So, it's obviously tailored toward the younger players." QB Brett Hundley will get most of the work with what is left of the No. 1 offense.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers are playing in the Hall of Fame Game this preseason, so their training camp will begin a week earlier in July than it did a year ago. McCarthy wants to make sure his veterans are well rested. Rodgers remains an elite fantasy QB worth taking in the early rounds, especially since he'll have a healthy Nelson to throw to in 2016.

Packers | Randall Cobb would love less attention

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 22:00:51 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb was unable to step up and fill the role as No. 1 wideout once WR Jordy Nelson (knee) went down, but part of the reason he saw so much attention was the failure of WR Davante Adams to step up as a secondary receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb still managed 79 receptions, but he also turned in a career-worst 10.5 yards per catch. He is much better as a complementary receiver rather than the go-to option. He is still a solid WR2/3 or flex fantasy option in most formats, but he'll need Nelson to bounce back.

Packers | Randall Cobb released from hospital

Sun, 17 Jan 2016 10:42:24 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (chest) said he was released from the hospital Sunday, Jan. 17, and that he is feeling much better. Cobb suffered a bruised lung Saturday, Jan. 16, against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: There's still some recovery time ahead for Cobb, and he has several months to be ready for offseason activities, so he should be fine. He seems to have avoided a serious injury last night.

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 19:07:12 -0800

Updating a previous story, Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (chest) suffered a bruised long in the divisional round of the playoffs Saturday, Jan. 16.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (chest) was carted off against the Arizona Cardinals in the divisional round of the playoffs Saturday, Jan. 16, and is questionable to return with a chest injury.

Packers | Randall Cobb lacking big games

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 15:55:39 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb hasn't topped 100 receiving yards in 15 games.

Fantasy Tip: A matchup with the Arizona Cardinals doesn't figure to be the time for that trend to stop. However, with Davante Adams likely out, Cobb ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) should take on a bigger role in the passing game and could be a surprise out of the slot.

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb posted three receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown in the NFC Wild Card Game Sunday, Jan. 10, against the Washington Redskins. He was targeted eight times.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb is a decent FantasyScore option to target heading into the Divisional Round against the Arizona Cardinals despite the fact he had just three grabs for 15 yards in the first meetings in Week 16.

Packers | Unwelcomed streak for Randall Cobb

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 20:12:03 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb has not had a 100-yard receiving game since Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: In addition to the lack of big games, Cobb ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) has been held to 40 yards or less in four of his last five. Even with the player pool limited at FantasyScore for wild-card weekend, he is a risky option.
