Panthers | Cam Newton reacts to fumble

Tue, 09 Feb 2016 08:05:52 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton said he didn't dive after a second-half fumble in the Super Bowl because of the way his leg was positioned. "I don't dive on one fumble because the way my leg was - it could have been (contorted) in a way," Newton said. "OK, you say my effort. I didn't dive down. I fumbled. That's fine. But we didn't lose that game because of that fumble. I can tell you that."

Fantasy Tip: Newton has his critics, but what can't be questioned is that he vaulted himself into the elite club of fantasy quarterbacks. He'll be among the top four or five QBs taken in drafts at worst.

Panthers | Cam Newton held out of end zone

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 20:00:06 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 18 of 41 passes for 265 yards and an interception and carried six times for 45 yards in a 24-10 loss to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50 Sunday, Feb. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Newton was under constant pressure from the stout Denver defense, and although his season ended on a sour note, he should still be considered one of the top fantasy quarterbacks when the 2016 season rolls around.

Panthers | Cam Newton takes home some hardware

Sat, 06 Feb 2016 19:06:45 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton was named the 2015 NFL Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year Saturday, Feb. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Thanks to his improvements as a passer, Newton went from a QB1 to an elite fantasy option at his position in 2015. With receiver Kelvin Benjamin returning next year, Newton could actually be even better.

Panthers | Cam Newton fourth QB to reach 50 TDs

Fri, 05 Feb 2016 15:01:37 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton reached 50 combined passing and rushing touchdowns in the NFC Championship Game, making him only the fourth quarterback in league history to reach the Super Bowl with that many scores. Surprisingly, the three previous quarterbacks to have at least 50 combined passing and rushing touchdowns entering the Super Bowl all lost the game, by a combined 60 points.

Fantasy Tip: The other quarterbacks are Peyton Manning (60 touchdowns in 2013), Tom Brady (57; 2007) and Dan Marino (55; 1984). The 0-3 record would seem to be a bit of an anomaly at first blush, but each quarterback faced a dominant defense in the Super Bowl during their career year and were turned away. History is working against Newton as he attempts to lead the Panthers to their first championship in team history.

Panthers | Carolina efficient in red zone

Fri, 05 Feb 2016 13:05:23 -0800

The Carolina Panthers and QB Cam Newton scored a touchdown on 68% of their red zone drives during the regular season. Only the Detroit Lions (69%) were better in the red zone.

Fantasy Tip: They'll need to keep that trend going in the Super Bowl against the No. 1 defense in the Denver Broncos if they want to win the game. Surprisingly, Denver wasn't that good defending down in the red zone this year, and Newton presents plenty of problems with his legs and his arm near the touchdown stripe.

Panthers | Cam Newton good in play action

Fri, 05 Feb 2016 11:12:51 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton had nine touchdowns on play-action passes this year, which was second to only New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (10). The Denver Broncos allowed just 87 play-action pass attempts this year (second-fewest), 54% completion percentage on those plays (ranked second) and just two touchdowns (tied for second-fewest).

Fantasy Tip: It'll all come back to how well the Panthers can run against a strong run-stopping unit in Denver. If Carolina runs the ball effectively, Newton should have more success on play-action plays in Super Bowl 50.

Panthers | Cam Newton excellent in red zone

Tue, 02 Feb 2016 14:30:02 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton has a 105.6 passer rating and has posted a 39:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio in the red zone since 2014. He's thrown 26 red zone touchdowns this year without a single interception. The Denver Broncos ranked 20th in red zone efficiency in 2015, with 22 touchdowns allowed in 37 red zone possessions.

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos, the NFL's No. 1 defense this year, will have their hands full with Newton in the big game. His ability to make plays with his feet and in the pocket separate him from most other quarterbacks the Broncos have faced this year. It's hard to envision Denver slowing Newton down for four full quarters.

Panthers | Cam Newton improved from pocket

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 14:33:28 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton has improved as a pocket passer since his rookie season in 2011. In his first year, he had 20 touchdowns and 16 interceptions from the pocket, compared to 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions from the pocket in 2015. Newton has 21 touchdowns and two interceptions from the pocket in the last 10 games.

Fantasy Tip: Newton has matured before all of our eyes this year and is the favorite to win the MVP award. The Denver Broncos would like to keep Newton in the pocket as much as possible, but if he plays like he has for most of the season, it might not matter in the end.

Panthers | Cam Newton to struggle passing?

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 13:11:22 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton was second in the NFL with 10 games of 100-plus passer rating in 2015, while the Denver Broncos did not allow a single 100-plus rating to any quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: It's your typical unstoppable force against an immovable object. Newton may not find as much success passing in the Super Bowl, but his running ability could give him better opportunities through the air. It really depends on how quick and effective Denver's pass rush is.

Panthers | Carolina leans on ground game

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 09:46:50 -0800

The Carolina Panthers and QB Cam Newton ran the ball by design on 46% of their offensive plays this year, which was highest in the NFL. The Denver Broncos allowed just 3.28 yards per rush in 2015, which was the fewest in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: A big reason why the Panthers ran the ball so much is the versatility of Newton behind center. But Jonathan Stewart and the offensive line also excelled on the ground, and they are tough to stop. There's a reason why they've gone 31 straight games with at least 100 yards on the ground. The Broncos have a tall task in stopping them.

Panthers | Cam Newton performed when pressured

Tue, 26 Jan 2016 07:24:10 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton was sacked four or more times twice in the 2015 season, and his numbers didn't suffer. He was 21-for-25 (84.0%) for 217 yards and a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans, who sacked him four times in Week 10. He was 21-for-26 (80.8%) for 293 yards and two touchdowns while being sacked five times in Week 17 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He didn't throw an interception in either game. The Denver Broncos, Newton's Super Bowl opponent, led the NFL with 53 sacks this season.

Fantasy Tip: Newton had a phenomenal season, and he has likely vaulted himself into the elite category with Andrew Luck and Aaron Rodgers heading into fantasy drafts next season.

Panthers | Cam Newton is Panthers offense

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 14:35:23 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton threw or ran for 50 touchdowns this year, including the playoffs. He also threw or rushed for all but 13 of the team's offensive scores this season. He became the first player in NFL history to throw for at least 30 touchdowns (35) and rush for at least eight touchdowns (10) in the same year.

Fantasy Tip: Newton is having an MVP-caliber season this year, and it'd be a surprise if he didn't win it. He faces a tough challenge against the No. 1 defense in the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50, but it's unlikely he'll be held down for an entire four quarters.

Panthers | Cam Newton has faced Denver once

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 12:21:13 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton was sacked seven times and had a career-low 5.9 total QBR in his one career matchup against the Denver Broncos back in 2012.

Fantasy Tip: Newton has grown leaps and bounds since the 2012 season, and the Panthers are better all-around on offense with a much better ground game. The Broncos defense led the league this year, but Newton is so dynamic that they will likely struggle to contain him for four quarters.

Panthers | Cam Newton piles up four scores

Sun, 24 Jan 2016 19:57:54 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 19 of 28 passes for 335 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, and he ran 10 times for 47 yards and two touchdowns in a 49-15 win over the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Newton delivered another dominating performance, and his dual-threat ability should keep him entrenched as a high-end QB1 for years to come.

Panthers | Cam Newton won't wear gloves

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 11:08:17 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton will not wear gloves in the NFC Championship against the Arizona Cardinals Sunday, Jan. 24, despite the weather. "He's got big hands," head coach Ron Rivera said. "He doesn't need to."

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) has his hands full against the Cardinals, but his ability to makes plays with his legs vastly separates him from the other three quarterbacks this weekend and makes paying up for him on FantasyScore worth the price.

Panthers | Cam Newton improved passing

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 15:48:04 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton greatly improved his passing in the second half of the regular season. From Week 9 onward, Newton completed 65.9% of his passes, compared to just 58.8% before Week 9. From Week 9 onward he also improved his yards per attempt and touchdown to interception ratio, among other things.

Fantasy Tip: Before this season, Newton's main critique came in his passing, with which he was notoriously inaccurate. That was greatly improved this year, especially in the latter half of the season. His running ability combined with accurate passing makes him one of the most valuable real life and fantasy quarterbacks in the league.

Panthers | Cam Newton to dab in Super Bowl?

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 20:06:12 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton passed for 161 yards and a touchdown last weekend against the Seattle Seahawks, and he ran for three yards on 11 totes. In the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24, he'll face the Arizona Cardinals, a team which ranked sixth against the rush in the regular season and eighth against the pass.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) faces a stiff defense, but he is at home where he has been great all season. He can help FantasyScore players with his feet and his arm, the only quarterback of the four playing this weekend who is so versatile. Still, it might be a rather low-scoring game, so his fantasy production might not live up to his high salary. Be careful.

Panthers | Cam Newton improved against blitz

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 10:51:16 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 59% of his passes for 8.2 yards per attempt against the blitz this season, and he had a 6.3 touchdown-to-interception rate after a 1.9 touchdown-to-interception rate against the blitz last year. Newton was sacked 6.7% of the time against the blitz this year as opposed to 9.2% last season. The Arizona Cardinals blitzed more than any other team in 2015 (45% of dropbacks).

Fantasy Tip: Newton only threw for 161 yards and one touchdown in the divisional round, and the matchup against the Cardinals aggressive defense surely won't be easy. But Newton presents an added bonus of being able to make plays with his legs, and no other remaining quarterback can attest to that.

Panthers | Cam Newton has solid performance

Sun, 17 Jan 2016 14:23:14 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton went 16-for-22 for 161 yards and one touchdown in the divisional round playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Newton did not have to do much because the team's running game was having success. Newton may be asked to do more in the passing game against the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship game and should be a solid option for fantasy owners.

Panthers | Cam Newton facing tough task

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 18:28:53 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton faces the Seattle Seahawks at home in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 17, and the Seahawks have allowed just one offensive touchdown over their last six road games combined.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) has accounted for 35 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing scores this year, but with the Seahawks defense firing on all cylinders, Newton may not be able to justify his hefty price tag this weekend.

NFL | Russell Wilson has Cam Newton's number

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 15:06:52 -0800

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has a career record of 4-1 against Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton, including the playoffs. Newton and the Panthers beat Wilson and the Seahawks in Week 6 of this season, however. That was the first time Newton beat a Wilson-led Seattle squad. In those five games, Wilson has thrown seven touchdowns and three interceptions compared to Newton's four touchdowns and five interceptions. Wilson and Newton were also two of the hottest quarterbacks at the end of the season. From Week 11 to 17 Wilson threw 24 touchdowns and one interception while Newton tossed 20 scores and one interception.

Fantasy Tip: This matchup provides two of the best fantasy quarterbacks from the 2015 season. What's more intriguing about Wilson ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) and Newton ($9,000, 18.0%) facing each other is that they are two of the best running quarterbacks in football. Their respective defensive units are two of the most elite defenses in the NFL, too, so Wilson and Newton may not find as much success as they did towards the end of the season.

Panthers | Cam Newton ties record

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 18:44:45 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 21 of 26 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns and had six carries for 10 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-10 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 17, tying Steve Young for the most career rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with 43.

Fantasy Tip: Newton capped an MVP-caliber regular season with another big game, and he should be a building block at FantasyScore as long as the Panthers are still alive in the playoffs.

Panthers | Off day for Cam Newton

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 15:36:39 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton threw for 142 yards and had no touchdown passes Sunday, Dec. 27, in a 20-13 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. He ran for 46 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) picked a bad time to have an off day for most fantasy owners. This is championship week in many leagues, and owners with Newton in their lineups likely paid for it. Don't shy away from Newton because of this. Every quarterback has an off day.

Fri, 25 Dec 2015 09:44:04 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (non-injury) practiced fully Friday, Dec. 25, and is probable for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) has been utterly dominant and is a QB1 option against the Atlanta Falcons on FantasyScore.

Panthers | Cam Newton rested Thursday

Thu, 24 Dec 2015 10:57:38 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (non-injury) put in a limited practice Thursday, Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: There's nothing to worry about with Newton ($9,000, 18.0% of cap). The MVP candidate threw for three scores several weeks ago facing the Atlanta Falcons, but they also held him in check on the ground. It's not the best matchup, and it should make you think twice about paying up for him on FantasyScore.

Panthers | Cam Newton tosses five scores

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 16:15:29 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton threw for 340 yards and five touchdowns and added eight carries for 100 yards in a 38-35 win over the New York Giants in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Newton threw for five scores for the third time in five games, and he has at least three touchdowns in three straight. He should remain an elite option at FantasyScore the rest of the way.

Panthers | Cam Newton better on deep ball

Tue, 15 Dec 2015 15:37:35 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton has improved on the deep ball this year on throws 25 yards or more down the field, throwing a league-high eight touchdowns with a 113.1 passer rating. WR Ted Ginn Jr. has caught four of those eight TD throws, which is tied with Cleveland Browns WR Travis Benjamin for most deep scores.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) is having an MVP-caliber season for the undefeated Panthers, and he is carrying many teams to a fantasy championship. He's a top-shelf QB1 for the rest of the year and is worth paying up for against the New York Giants and their weak secondary in Week 15.

Panthers | Cam Newton rests late in blowout

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 15:56:52 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (elbow) completed 15 of his 21 pass attempts for 265 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 14 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He also ran three times for just four yards. Newton was forced out for one play in the second quarter after hitting his funny bone on a helmet, but was able to return. He was lifted in the fourth quarter to rest with the game well in hand.

Fantasy Tip: Newton had a strong fantasy line for his owners in Week 14, and things could be even better in Week 15 against the New York Giants, a team which has consistently ranked last, or second-to-last, in passing defense for most of the season.

Panthers | Cam Newton continues to impress

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 09:18:33 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton became the first NFL player to win three offensive player of the week awards in a five-week span since New England Patriots QB Tom Brady did it in 2007. Newton tossed five touchdowns in the Week 13 win over the New Orleans Saints to keep his team undefeated at 12-0. Newton has gone 64-for-105 for 868 yards and 13 touchdowns to just two interceptions in the three games he's won the award this year. He also had 23 rushes for 122 yards and a touchdown in those games.

Fantasy Tip: Can you say MVP? It seems inevitable for Newton ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) in his breakout season. He's been dynamite for his fantasy owners, to say the least. However, be careful when paying up for him on FantasyScore this year, as the Atlanta Falcons secondary has been good at shutting QBs down this year.

Panthers | Cam Newton makes history

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 13:10:04 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton is the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for at least 3,000 yards in his first five seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Newton for MVP certainly seems to be one of the most logical awards this season. He has already thrown a career-high 25 touchdowns, not to mention his seven rushing touchdowns. Newton does have one of his tougher matchups of the season next week against the Atlanta Falcons, but he should still be seen as an every-week starter in seasonal leagues.

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 06:47:07 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (head) passed a concussion test Sunday, Dec. 6, after he absorbed a big blow to the head.

Fantasy Tip: Newton has averaged 26.8 fantasy points in his last two games and is one of the best players on FantasyScore right now. He'll have a tough test against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 14.

Panthers | Cam Newton has big day

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 18:14:57 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton threw five touchdown passes in the Week 13 win over the New Orleans Saints to help his team improve to 12-0.

Fantasy Tip: Newton went 28-for-41 for 331 yards, five TDs and one interception in the close victory. The Saints are one of, if not the worst, defenses in the NFL, so this was sort of expected. However, Newton is in the midst of easily the best season of his career and is a top-notch QB1 in fantasy.

Panthers | Cam Newton makes history

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 14:10:55 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton is the first player in NFL history to throw 100 touchdowns and rush for 25 touchdowns in his first five NFL seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Newton has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the NFL this season, and he has stayed healthy. His matchup this week will be tough, though, as the Dallas Cowboys have only allowed 13 total touchdowns to quarterbacks this season.

Panthers | Cam Newton throws for five TDs

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 15:13:51 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton tossed five touchdown passes and finished with 246 yards in a 44-16 win over the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) had a fantastic performance, no doubt helped by Washington's shaky defense. Still, Newton has been a solid performer all season and got his 100th touchdown pass in this game. Keep him in mind as a quality starting QB on your roster.

Panthers | Cam Newton throws four early TDs

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 11:50:44 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton has thrown for 187 yards and four touchdowns in the first half of the team's Week 11 game.

Fantasy Tip: Newton has played very well this season despite limited weapons at wide receiver. Newton has been able to produce with his arm and legs this season and should be a starting option for fantasy owners most weeks.

Panthers | Cam Newton doing it all

Tue, 17 Nov 2015 15:39:44 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton has six games this year with at least one passing and one rushing touchdown. No other quarterback in the league has more than two such games this season.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) has made huge strides this season and continues to mature as an all-around quarterback that can hurt teams with both his arm and legs. The Washington Redskins may be able to contain him on the ground this weekend, though, and he will cost you a pretty penny on FantasyScore.

Panthers | Carolina having success on ground

Mon, 16 Nov 2015 13:54:54 -0800

The Carolina Panthers and QB Cam Newton have gone 20 straight games with at least 100 yards on the ground.

Fantasy Tip: Newton has been a huge reason why Carolina has been able to accomplish this, and he remains firmly in QB1 discussions for fantasy owners. Jonathan Stewart has done his fair share, too, and he should continue to be a solid RB2 in traditional formats. The Panthers face a stiff test against the Washington Redskins strong ground defense in Week 11, though.

Panthers | Cam Newton throws, runs for TD

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 16:37:09 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 21 of his 26 pass attempts for 217 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans. He also ran nine times for 23 yards and a score.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) earned his FantasyScore salary in this one. He has at least one touchdown pass in each of his nine games this season, and he has run for a score in six different games this season, posting at least 20 rushing yards in all nine of his outings.

Panthers | Cam Newton scores four times

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 16:36:59 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 15 of 30 passes for 297 yards, three touchdowns and an interception, and he ran nine times for 57 yards and another score.

Fantasy Tip: Newton's ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) passing numbers can go up and down, but he has rushed for at least 20 yards in all eight games and has scored five times. The points he earns with his legs allow him to deliver solid production at FantasyScore even when the passing game isnít clicking.

Panthers | Cam Newton solid in MNF win

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 22:39:49 -0800

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 16 of his 35 pass attempts for 248 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the Week 8 game against the Indianapolis Colts Monday, Nov. 2. He also ran 10 times for 41 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) wasn't great, but he was solid. He was a little erratic in the first half due to the rains, but once they subsided he came alive. He remains a solid mid-tier FantasyScore quarterback because of his ability with his arm and his feet.

Panthers | Cam Newton subpar in victory

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 21:45:44 -0700

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 14 of his 24 pass attempts for 197 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in the Week 7 game against the Philadelphia eagles. He did run four times for 20 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) didn't come close to earning his FantasyScore salary in this one, but generally he has been a solid DFS option most weeks because of his ability to score points with his arm and his feet.

Panthers | Cam Newton to run often?

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 10:31:27 -0700

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton was sacked nine times and threw three interceptions when he faced the Philadelphia Eagles last season, but that was just three weeks after he had surgery on his injured ankle, and he wasn't as mobile as he usually is. Eagles LB Connor Barwin acted as a spy to shadow Newton, and the Eagles may ask him to do that again in Week 7. The Panthers currently lead the league in rushing attempts per game (32.8) and are third in yards per game. Newton has 50 carries for 225 yards after five games. The Eagles have the eighth-ranked rush defense by allowing only 94.2 yards per game on the ground and are tied for second with just 3.5 yards per rushing attempt.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles are much easier to beat through the air than on the ground, so the Panthers may have to change up their approach to be successful this weekend. Philly is middle of the pack against quarterbacks, so Newton ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) should be considered a midrange fantasy QB on FantasyScore this weekend.

Panthers | Cam Newton likes closing out games

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton has a 94.1 QBR in the fourth quarter this year, which is second-best in the league, but has a 37.1 QBR in the first three quarters.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) remains a low-end QB1 for fantasy owners and can make more happen with his legs if need be. He'll be a midrange signal caller on FantasyScore in Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Panthers | Cam Newton looks to extend streaks

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 21:05:51 -0700

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton will be looking to extend several streaks in his Week 5 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team he did not face either time in 2014 due to injury. Newton enters with two or more touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in each of his past two games this season. He also has two passing touchdowns and at least one rushing touchdown in each of his past two starts against the Bucs.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) will be a popular selection in FantasyScore if he can do what he normally does against Tampa with his arm and his feet.

Panthers | Cam Newton scoring efficiently

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 16:48:57 -0700

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton has accounted for all of Carolina's seven touchdowns this year: five passing and two rushing.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) is off to a spectacular start in 2015. His completion percentage (56.6%) is still low, but his rushing has made up for what he has lacked passing. Newton has already run for 144 yards. He makes for a good play again in Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Panthers | Cam Newton does it all

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 16:47:31 -0700

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 20 of 31 passes for 315 yards and two touchdowns and ran seven times for 33 yards and a touchdown in a 27-22 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) torched the suspect Saints defense with his arm and his legs. He should be in line for a similar performance in Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is a great starting option at FantasyScore.

Panthers | Cam Newton ready to run on Saints

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 19:03:56 -0700

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton faces the New Orleans Saints at home in Week 3, and in four career home games against the Saints, he has seven touchdowns, including three rushing scores.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) has rushed for 111 yards in two games this year, and he should be able to do plenty of damage against the struggling Saints. If you are looking to save some cap space, he should make a great alternative at the quarterback spot at FantasyScore.

Panthers | Cam Newton notches Week 2 win

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 15:16:44 -0700

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 77 yards and another score in a 24-17 win over the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Newton ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) had a rough go against the Houston Texans as far as being able to put away his opponent, but he demonstrated some versatility once again. Keep an eye on next week, as the New Orleans Saints looked surprisingly weak and Newton could exploit some holes.

Panthers | Cam Newton has confidence in Devin Funchess

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 15:37:59 -0700

Carolina Panthers rookie QB Cam Newton said he has full confidence in rookie WR Devin Funchess stepping into the starting wide receiver role for the Panthers with WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) out for the season. Funchess sat out the team's second preseason game with a tight hamstring, but he's expected to play against the New England Patriots Friday, Aug. 28. "He's a competitor," Newton said of the former Michigan star. "He's a guy that wants to be great. We talk often. I'm pretty much a person that he can trust and that I know I can trust when the game comes on the line. We just need to get him to 100%."

Fantasy Tip: Funchess will surely have plenty of targets come his way from now that Benjamin is out for the season. He's best served as a WR3 on your fantasy team, but he has upside for more as a big-bodied wideout that could get plenty of looks in the red zone.

Panthers | Cam Newton struggles Saturday

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 06:32:18 -0700

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton went 4-for-10 for 42 yards and one interception in the second preseason game Saturday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Newton may struggle this season with Kelvin Benjamin out for the season and Devin Funchess currently sidelined with an injury. Newton is a dual threat quarterback that can still make plays, but he may be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in most leagues.
