Jets | New York not interested in Kaepernick

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 16:10:23 -0800

The New York Jets are not and have not been interested in San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick has wanted out of San Francisco for months now, and the hiring of new head coach Chip Kelly hasn't changed his stance. A trade remains very likely.

Fantasy Tip: Nothing is guaranteed for Kaepernick after a disappointing season that came to an end because of injury. Things could still work out for him in San Fran in Kelly's scheme if he's willing to buy in, but that's a big if. At best for 2016 if he's a starter somewhere, Kaepernick is a risky backup fantasy quarterback with upside to surprise.

Jets | Brandon Marshall doesn't want Kaep

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 10:46:35 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said he doesn't want the team to acquire San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and wants the team to re-sign impending free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. "I don't want Kaepernick," Marshall said on ESPN's "First Take." "I think he's good. My guy's Fitz," Marshall explained. "It's nothing against Kaepernick, but what I'm saying is that I have my quarterbacks and I'm good."

Fantasy Tip: Fitzpatrick had a breakthrough season and would be in the low-end QB1 range if he re-ups with the Jets.

Jets | New QB for Gang Green?

Tue, 02 Feb 2016 19:08:34 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick reportedly "wants out of San Francisco," and sources said Tuesday, Feb. 2, that the New York Jets are his preferred destination. The team is aware and intrigued in Kaepernick's desire to play for the cub, but are still in early stages of their offseason planning and evaluation, sources said.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick would have Brandon Marshall at his disposal if he were to make the move cross-country, but know that this is a story in its embryonic stages. Nothing is imminent right now.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick wants to leave

Tue, 02 Feb 2016 15:39:49 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick wants to leave the 49ers and join the New York Jets, according to sources. The Jets are aware of and intrigued by Kaepernick's aspiration, but they are still in the early stages of their offseason planning and evaluation, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Keep in mind that New York has already expressed a desire to re-sign Ryan Fitzpatrick, although, that was before the Kaepernick news. There are many pieces of the puzzle that have to come together in order for Kaepernick to land with the Jets. Right now that puzzle is a little too complicated.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick could reclaim starting gig

Fri, 29 Jan 2016 16:29:41 -0800

San Francisco 49ers chief executive officer Jed York can see QB Colin Kaepernick winning his starting job back in 2016 if he is healthy. "There's no question in my mind," York replied. "I've always had a very, very high opinion of Kap. Kap's a great kid, he's done a lot of great things for us. And again, this is a fresh start for everybody."

Fantasy Tip: The addition of new head coach Chip Kelly should help Kaepernick reclaim his role as a successful starting quarterback, as Kelly's offensive system is friendly to mobile QBs like Kap. It remains to be seen if they'll stick with him, but if they do and he wins the job, consider him an attractive fantasy backup with room for more.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick a good fit for offense?

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 18:20:10 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick's running ability could make head coach Chip Kelly's offensive system more effective. When Kelly was with the Philadelphia Eagles, the offense averaged 6.6 yards per play when QB Michael Vick played and 5.7 yards per play with any other quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, it isnít a guarantee that the 49ers will even keep Kaepernick, but he would become an intriguing fantasy option if he lands the starting gig in Kelly's offense.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick has guaranteed contract

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 09:13:31 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick's 2016 contract becomes fully guaranteed for injury come April 1, and the 49ers would have to pay him $11.9 million. Many believe the 49ers might try to trade or release him before then.

Fantasy Tip: The move to add Chip Kelly as the new head coach changes everything. Kelly likes having mobile quarterbacks run his high-octane offense, and Kaepernick more than fits the bill. If Kelly decides to keep Kaepernick and have him compete for the starting QB job, a big rebound could be in store. Keep an eye on Kaepernick as a sneaky sleeper if he stays and wins the job.

49ers | RG III an option in San Francisco?

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 11:14:24 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III could be an option for the San Francisco 49ers to compete with QB Colin Kaepernick after the 49ers hired head coach Chip Kelly, in the opinion of USA TODAY Sports' Jim Corbett.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin could land in a spot to compete for a starting job this offseason and is worth watching for fantasy purposes.

NFL | Two coaches interested in SF job

Tue, 05 Jan 2016 11:22:48 -0800

Free-agent head coaches Chip Kelly (Eagles) and Mike Shanahan (Redskins) are both interested in the San Francisco 49ers head coaching position. Shanahan last coached in 2013. The 49ers are not giving up hope that QB Colin Kaepernick can be saved, and both coaches have had success with mobile quarterbacks.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick may not return

Sat, 19 Dec 2015 10:55:00 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick could be on his way out of San Francisco, in the opinion of Matt Maiocco of CSBBayArea.com. Maiocco said it's difficult to come up with a scenario in which Kaepernick and the 49ers agree to maintain their union in 2016. If Kaepernick does not return, QB Blaine Gabbert would likely take over the starting quarterback reins.

Fantasy Tip: No matter what happens this offseason, the 49ers' quarterback situation won't be the prettiest in the league. Gabbert has been underperforming his whole career, and Kaepernick obviously isn't working out. At this point neither would be worth drafting next season.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick could return to Niners

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 08:10:20 -0800

The San Francisco 49ers met with QB Colin Kaepernick (shoulder) last week and expressed interest in bringing him back next season, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick is recovering from a torn labrum in his left shoulder and will need four to six months to heal completely. His fantasy value is currently at an all-time low and he will probably have to battle to regain his job as the starting quarterback if he returns to San Francisco in 2016.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick had more extensive tear

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 07:10:03 -0800

Updating previous reports, San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (shoulder) had a more significant tear in his left labrum than originally believed, according to a source. He'll require four to six months of rehabilitation.

Fantasy Tip: Blaine Gabbert ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) holds the keys now, but he faces the Arizona Cardinals this week and isn't a good FantasyScore target.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick has surgery

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 09:14:31 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (shoulder) had surgery to fix a torn labrum in his left shoulder Tuesday, Nov. 24, and he is expected to need a recovery time of four to six months, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick's season is over and the same probably goes for his tenure in San Fran. It's anyone's guess as to where he might end up next year. And he'll probably have to fight for a starting job once again. His fantasy value has hit an all-time low.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (shoulder) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list to undergo surgery, according to a source. The injury is believed to be on his non-throwing shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Again, Blaine Gabbert ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) should start the rest of the season for the 49ers, but he's not a recommended start this week versus the Seattle Seahawks.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick placed on IR

Sat, 21 Nov 2015 11:04:00 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (shoulder) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 21.

Fantasy Tip: This is the culmination of a season to forget for Kaepernick, a season that could be his last with the 49ers. Blaine Gabbert ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) should remain the starting quarterback for the remainder of the season, but he's not an advisable play against the Seattle Seahawks this week.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick could get chance soon

Wed, 04 Nov 2015 19:49:55 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick was demoted from the starting unit, but the banishment might not be permanent. Head coach Jim Tomsula would not commit to QB Blaine Gabbert long term, and said he wants Kaepernick to "step back" and "take a look at things."

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick actually hasn't tossed an interception in 134 attempts, but that can be chalked up to timid and careful play. Gabbert ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) sounds like he will be auditioning for the starting gig on a weekly basis, starting in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick taking a breather

Wed, 04 Nov 2015 11:25:17 -0800

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula said he benched QB Colin Kaepernick so that he could take a "step back and breathe and look at things through a difference lens." Kaepernick has regressed this year as a quarterback, struggling with accuracy, anticipation and field vision.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds as though the Niners would be open to returning Kaepernick to the starting role eventually this year if Blaine Gabbert ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) struggles, which there is a good chance of. Regardless, Kap doesn't belong on any fantasy rosters at this time.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick benching via front office?

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 13:53:19 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick's benching may have been the front office's doing, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: No matter who had how much impact in Kaepernick losing his starting job, he just wasn't getting the job done; and he looked bad not getting the job done. Blaine Gabbert isn't a fantasy quarterback to write home about, either. Stay away for now.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick won't be traded

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 10:17:11 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick will not be traded by the 49ers at the deadline. The Niners also haven't ruled out starting him again later this year.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick's ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) fantasy value is at an all-time low point with his benching in favor of Blaine Gabbert ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons. Kaepernick can be dumped in all formats.

Eagles | Colin Kaepernick not Philly's taste

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 09:04:58 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick isn't likely to be pursued by the Philadelphia Eagles, according to 94WIP Radio's Howard Eskin.

Fantasy Tip: Kaep isn't an option on FantasyScore for the foreseeable future after his benching. His replacement, Blaine Gabbert ($4,500, 9.0% of cap), also hasn't done much to warrant the flyer against the Atlanta Falcons.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick officially benched

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 19:43:53 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick has been officially benched in favor of QB Blaine Gabbert, beat writer Cam Inman confirmed Monday, Nov. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) obviously should be avoided in FantasyScore going forward. Blaine Gabbert ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) could be a deeper sleeper against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick to be benched?

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 12:02:17 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick may not be the starting quarterback moving forward. When asked if Kaepernick is still the starter, head coach Jim Tomsula said, "We're evaluating anyone."

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick hasn't necessarily earned his starting role this year. If any NFL starting quarterback deserves to be benched, it's him. Unless you're desperate at quarterback and/or need a bye-week replacement, he's probably safe to drop.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick to the sidelines?

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 05:52:38 -0800

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick needs to be benched to clear his head, according to two teammates that texted Bleacher Report's Jason Cole after the game Sunday, Nov. 1. The teammates still want him to be part of the team's future but think he needs to sit in order to better understand what they're trying to do on offense.

Fantasy Tip: Kaep ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) has struggled behind a patchwork offensive line and a questionable running game. He's not a good start on FantasyScore right now.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick should suit up

Fri, 30 Oct 2015 14:17:20 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (hand) practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 30, and is probable for Week 8 against the St. Louis Rams.

Fantasy Tip: One of the best defensive lines going up one of the worst offensive lines won't make it easy at all for Kaepernick ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) this weekend. Plus, Carlos Hyde is out and Anquan Boldin is questionable. Kaepernick is a really bad FantasyScore play.

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 18:34:13 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (hand) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) should play against the St. Louis Rams in Week 8, but he has delivered several duds against solid defenses this year. Look elsewhere at FantasyScore this weekend.

Wed, 28 Oct 2015 17:17:37 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (hand) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) should be fine for the game against the St. Louis Rams this week. He has thrown four touchdowns in his last three games but is coming off a game where he threw for only 124 yards. Owners should be able to find better options to use.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick not alienated

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 10:11:04 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick has not be alienated from his own team despite conflicting reports, according to head coach Jim Tomsula. Tomsula also downplayed a "heated" meeting the team had last month amid a four-game losing streak. A report from FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer over the weekend said that Kaepernick's confidence was completely shot.

Fantasy Tip: We wouldn't blame Kaepernick ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) if he had lost some confidence this season. He doesn't appear to be a great fit for this offense and has taken a step back in his progression as a quarterback. A bad offensive line hasn't helped matters. You certainly shouldn't have any ideas of using him on FantasyScore against the St. Louis Rams in Week 8.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick still the starter

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 11:30:37 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick remains the team's starting quarterback, head coach Jim Tomsula confirmed Friday, Oct. 23. "Colin's our quarterback. No controversy," Tomsula said.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick looked really bad in the Week 7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks Thursday night, but in his defense the San Fran offensive line was horrible and they were facing a really good defense. Kaepernick won't save any fantasy teams and is basically a decent QB2, at best. Only use him as a deep sleeper in a really nice matchup on FantasyScore moving forward.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick injured thumb

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 09:44:07 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (thumb) had a bandage on his right thumb after the loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7 Thursday, Oct. 22, but he said his thumb was swollen and not broken.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick went just 13-for-24 for 124 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions against Seattle. He's back to his disappointing ways after two straight solid performances. Kaepernick hasn't improved his pocket passing at all this year and is only a deep sleeper on FantasyScore against opponents with weak secondaries and pass rushes.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick knocked around

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 21:32:14 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick completed 13 of his 24 pass attempts for 124 yards in a 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7, and he was sacked six times.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) was under pressure from the start, and San Francisco's offense was never on track. He has some value at FantasyScore because of his running ability, but he needs to be avoided all together against tougher defenses.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick to avoid Sherman?

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 12:41:58 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick has no touchdowns and six interceptions when targeting a receiver covered by Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman in six career games (five losses) against the Seahawks. Kaepernick faces the Seahawks in Week 7 Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Don't let Kaepernick's ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) solid game last week fool you into thinking he'd be a good contrarian play tonight. The Seahawks remain one of the tougher matchups for opposing quarterbacks, and Kap could be without Anquan Boldin.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick faces tough test

Tue, 20 Oct 2015 19:36:29 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick has been much improved over the past two games, but he has a tough matchup in Week 7 against the Seattle Seahawks Thursday, Oct. 22. The Seahawks rank fifth in the NFL against the pass, allowing just 219.8 yards per game with six passing touchdowns through six games.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he faces a much more favorable matchup.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick not worried about mechanics

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 14:21:57 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick said he's not "big" on mechanics, but he also said he's constantly trying to improve his throwing mechanics and fundamentals. Kaepernick spent his early offseason working to improve his mechanics and pocket presence with retired QB Kurt Warner. Kaepernick's former college coach, Chris Ault, said Kaepernick has been dropping his right elbow. Kaepernick downplayed his former coach's statements. He said better chemistry with his receivers led to improvement in a Week 5 loss to the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: After a rough start to the year, Kaepernick ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) is more worried about results now than the process. It could be a rough year as he adapts to more pocket passing and less scrambling, but he could be a successful deep sleeper at quarterback in Week 6 against a porous Baltimore Ravens secondary.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick finally has good game

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 20:27:54 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick completed 23 of his 35 pass attempts for 262 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 5 game against the New York Giants. He also ran three times for 23 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) is the ultimate contrarian play in FantasyScore, and he paid huge dividends for the small percentage of owner to take a chance on him against the leaky defense of the Giants.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick still growing

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 09:10:11 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick is still growing into the quarterback position as a pocket passer, according to former QB Kurt Warner, who mentored the Niners quarterback in the offseason. "I think the unfortunate thing for Kap is he's continuing to try to learn how to play the quarterback position," Warner said of Kaepernick. Kaepernick's total QBR is at a career-low 38.6 after four games with two passing touchdowns and a running TD, but all three of his scores have come with San Fran trailing by at least 25 points. He has five interceptions, no touchdowns and just six completions of passes more than five yards down the field in the last two games.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) and the Niners have faced some tough opponents recently, but it's clear he's not comfortable yet in the pocket in this new offense. He should have a much easier time of it against the New York Giants in Week 5, but you can't trust him on FantasyScore until we see improvement.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick struggles in Week 4

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 09:49:12 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick was 13-for-25 for just 160 yards and an interception in the Week 4 loss to the Green Bay Packers. He also ran for 57 yards on 10 carries.

Fantasy Tip: The Green Bay defense has been much improved this year, but Kaepernick has left plenty to be desired in 2015 after he spent the entire offseason working on improving his pocket and overall game as a passer. With the Niners encouraging him to live more inside the pocket, he has become even more unfriendly to fantasy owners so far.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick backed by HC

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 11:13:02 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick still has the support of head coach Jim Tomsula. Tomsula said he believes in Kaepernick and that Kaepernick has the tools to be a good quarterback in the NFL. Tomsula added that he hasn't thought of Kaepernick as not being their starting quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Last week could end up being Kaepernick's worst outing of the season, but he still rushed for a touchdown. He probably shouldn't be viewed as an every-week starter, though, and is a risky play on FantasyScore this week at $6,200, 12.4% of cap.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick has nightmare game

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 22:53:42 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick completed just nine of his 19 pass attempts for 67 yards, no touchdowns and four interceptions in the Week 3 game against the Arizona Cardinals. Two of the interceptions were returned for touchdowns early in the first quarter. He was able to run for a score and he finished with 46 rushing yards.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) was horrific for FantasyScore players, and he cannot be trusted in Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers.

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick said head coach Jim Tomsula and the coaching staff isn't asking him to do anything other than be himself this year. "And I don't think anyone knows how to be myself better than me. So it's a comfort zone for me. It's a situation where I'm not being asked to do things outside of my character," Kaepernick said.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) worked hard in the offseason on improving his throwing mechanics, especially within the pocket. Nothing notable stood out in Week 1, but he torched a bad Pittsburgh Steelers secondary last week for 335 yards and two touchdowns, but most of it was in garbage time. The jury is still out, but facing the Cardinals on the road in Week 3 is a tall task, and we don't recommend him as a safe pick on FantasyScore.

49ers | AZ safety talks Colin Kaepernick

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 17:03:19 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick may be forced to throw outside the numbers in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals, according to Cardinals FS Tony Jefferson. Jefferson also said Kaepernick is quick to run the ball on third downs and that he is more adept throwing down the middle of the field. Jefferson added that Arizona needs to contain Kaepernick and keep him throwing outside the numbers -- something Jefferson believes is not his strength.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) has looked good in the first two weeks of the season, throwing for a combined 500 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions. His running ability is what makes him dangerous, though, as he has added 92 yards on the ground as well. He's not a bad option on FantasyScore this week, but the Cardinals have played well on defense this year, too.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick posts big line

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 17:41:20 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick completed 33 of 46 pass attempts for 335 yards and two scores and ran nine times for 51 yards in a 43-18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) had to throw early and often after the 49ers fell way behind, and while you can't count on him throwing for 300 yards on a regular basis, he does have 92 rushing yards through two games. He could make a solid value play at FantasyScore against the right matchups.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick remains a talented QB

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 10:56:30 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick has head coach Jim Tomsula's support this season. "I don't think we had something that was broke," Tomsula said. "He's a very talented athlete. He's a very talented quarterback. We always want to compare -- this guy's Danny Marino, this guy's Terry Bradshaw -- Colin Kaepernick is just Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick looked more patient in the pocket in the Week 1 win over the Minnesota Vikings when he was 17-for-26 for 165 yards.

Fantasy Tip: The Week 1 stat line doesn't stand out at all to fantasy owners, but Kaepernick's ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) offseason work on improving as a pocket passer was evident. In Week 2 against a young and inexperienced Pittsburgh Steelers defense, Kaepernick could put up much better numbers all around. Consider him a sleeper pick on FantasyScore.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick shows improvement in pocket

Tue, 15 Sep 2015 09:47:10 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick showed improvement with his pocket passing in the Week 1 win over the Minnesota Vikings Monday, Sept. 14, specifically in the area of ball placement and progressions. He had a career-high 10 completions on play-action passes in the game, and offensive coordinator Geep Chryst showed creative play calling and utilized multi-tight end sets throughout the game.

Fantasy Tip: Kaepernick ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) was just 17-for-26 for 165 yards passing and no touchdowns or interceptions, so it wasn't exactly like he lit the world on fire in Week 1. He's a backup starting QB in traditional formats, but if he shows more maturation in the pocket as the season goes on, he could be useful as a sleeper start on FantasyScore in the right matchup.

49ers | Colin Kaepernick does little in win

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 23:02:12 -0700

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick completed 17 of his 26 pass attempts for 165 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 1 game against the Minnesota Vikings Monday, Sept. 14. He also ran seven times for 41 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Statistically, it was a poor night for Kaepernick ($6,800, 13.6% of cap), although he led his team to a victory. Still, that doesn't do much for FantasyScore owners, who will want to avoid him for the Week 2 road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
