Bills | LeSean McCoy scares opponents?

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 18:25:51 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy strikes more fear into defenses than Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray, according to a top personnel executive. "I'll take McCoy over Murray every time," the personnel executive said. "When you played the Eagles, you feared McCoy. He was the guy who scared you the most. When you played Dallas, you didn't fear Murray. He's good. But you didn't fear him. You feared Dez (Bryant), or (Tony) Romo, but not Murray."

Fantasy Tip: Both McCoy and Murray have RB1 potential. McCoy is probably the safer bet because he is in line for a workhorse role in Buffalo, but Murray is a high-end RB2 at the very least.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray solid in passing game

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 14:01:43 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray was one of two running backs with at least 40 targets last season that caught 89% of those targets. He caught 57 of his 64 targets. The other running back was Oakland Raiders RB Roy Helu.

Fantasy Tip: It's still unclear how often Murray, Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles will be used, but Murray probably won't be called on as much in the passing game, especially with Sproles present. Murray will still be the Eagles' go-to tailback, however, and should be in low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 territory heading into drafts.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray in a timeshare?

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 23:11:26 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray is expected to have the rushing workload divided between he and RB Ryan Mathews, offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur said Wednesday, June 3. The OC would not reveal what the percentage of carries would be for either back.

Fantasy Tip: The load is still expected to fall heavily on Murray, who signed with the team for big dollars, and you have to remember Mathews has been injury prone in his NFL career to date. Murray can be safely considered an RB1 for fantasy owners in standard formats, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to handcuff him with Mathews in the middle rounds just in case.

Cowboys | Dallas going to miss DeMarco Murray?

Sun, 17 May 2015 16:16:52 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray is going to be missed by his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, according to retired WR Michael Irvin. "I want to upchuck sometimes when I hear the thoughts of others and (they say), 'Oh, you can put any running back behind that offensive line of the Dallas Cowboys," Irvin said. "I say, 'Really? Why did they hand the ball off to DeMarco Murray 392 times? Why didn't they stick anybody back there last year?' Because they already knew."

Fantasy Tip: Irvin is unconvinced that Darren McFadden and company can fill Murray's shoes, but he is probably selling Dallas' talented offensive line a little short. If McFadden can stay healthy, he could produce RB1 numbers. Even with the injury risk, he is worth taking a chance on as a RB2.

Cowboys | Tony Romo would have taken pay cut

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 17:56:19 -0700

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo said Tuesday, March 31, he would have taken a pay cut in order for the team to retain RB DeMarco Murray (Eagles). "DeMarco ended up asking me, 'Why don't you take a pay cut?'" Romo said. "I was like, 'I will. I will take a pay cut to go do this.' I was like, 'They're going to restructure me and the whole thing, 'that's the same thing in some ways just for salary-cap purposes." In the end, the Cowboys never approached Romo about a a pay cut and Murray left for a five-year deal from the rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Now Romo will hand footballs off to Darren McFadden instead of Murray, a huge downgrade at the position considering his injury history. The good news is that Romo might actually do a little more passing in 2015, so his fantasy value could increase a little bit.

Eagles | Chip Kelly favors one-cut runners

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 06:58:57 -0700

The Philadelphia Eagles traded RB LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills because head coach Chip Kelly desires a one-cut running back, according to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. Lurie praised McCoy as a player, but the move was not financially driven. Kelly felt he could garner more production from a different running back or two. Lurie used the term "power spread" on multiple occasions to describe Kelly's offense. RBs DeMarco Murray, Darren Sproles and Ryan Mathews figure to share the work.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was one of the best players in fantasy last season, but there's almost no way he can repeat that kind of performance with two other legit backs wanting the ball. With Sproles an elite receiver from the RB position, Murray may find it difficult to repeat his 57 receptions from a year ago. Murray still rates as a mid-to-low RB1. Sproles is a capable RB3 in PPR leagues. Mathews' role is a little cloudy, but he is likely a low-end RB3 for now.

Wed, 18 Mar 2015 06:35:57 -0700

Eagles | DeMarco Murray's deal is official

Thu, 12 Mar 2015 16:13:57 -0700

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray's five-year deal is official. The deal is worth $42 million with $21 million guaranteed.

Fantasy Tip: It's in an intriguing situation for Murray, who will be splitting time with RBs Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles. Still, Murray will start and see the majority of touches out of the backfield. He should still be considered an RB1 in 2015 drafts, but there is obvious risk involved with Murray's injury history and the extensive workload he had in 2014. Tread carefully with Murray as an RB1.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray expected to join Eagles

Thu, 12 Mar 2015 10:06:03 -0700

Updating previous reports, free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) is fully expected to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles if all goes well with his visit.

Fantasy Tip: Murray is very comfortable in a high-octane, spread offense like Chip Kelly's from his days in college with Sam Bradford, the new presumed Eagles starting quarterback. It'll be tough for Murray to replicate his career year in 2014, but being in this offense will continue to make him an RB1 worth drafting in the first round of fantasy drafts.

Cowboys | Dallas calling other RBs

Thu, 12 Mar 2015 09:25:02 -0700

With free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) expected to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys are now calling around for other free-agent running backs.

Fantasy Tip: As it currently stands on Dallas' roster, Lance Dunbar and Joseph Randle are the lead running backs without Murray. Randle had more carries (51), yards (343) and touchdowns (three) than Dunbar in 2014. If Dallas doesn't add another rusher in free agency or the draft, which is highly unlikely, Randle would be the more valuable fantasy running back, with Dunbar worth a flier in point-per-reception leagues.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray expected to join Eagles

Thu, 12 Mar 2015 09:24:37 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) is expected to sign with Philadelphia Eagles, according to a league source.

Fantasy Tip: Murray will join what is expected to be a crowded backfield in Philadelphia if he signs there. There is some risk in taking Murray with a high draft pick this fall, as he will not be running behind the same offensive line he had in Dallas.

Eagles | Ryan Mathews yet to sign with Philly

Thu, 12 Mar 2015 09:17:13 -0700

Free-agent RB Ryan Mathews (Chargers) agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles Wednesday, March 11, but he hasn't signed it yet. It's unknown if he'll go through and sign if the Eagles sign free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys).

Fantasy Tip: Hold your horses here on Mathews, folks. It's not a done deal, and he could change his mind if he sees that Murray is coming aboard. It would sure be a crowded backfield in Philly if it included Murray, Mathews and Darren Sproles. Mathews' fantasy value could vary wildly depending on what happens with this situation. Stay tuned.

Eagles | Philly could land DeMarco Murray

Thu, 12 Mar 2015 06:24:27 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) is flying to Philadelphia with the intent of signing with the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday, March 12. He would consider a last-minute, final offer from the Dallas Cowboys, though.

Fantasy Tip: Murray will be a first-round pick regardless of where he lands. The big question is does he have enough of a track record to make an owner in the top three picks comfortable? He'll likely be taken in the first five picks of most drafts.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray to visit Philly

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 20:12:52 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) will meet with officials of the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday, March 12, according to a league source.

Fantasy Tip: Interesting. If signed, Murray would work in the team’s high-tempo offense. He has decent hands out of the backfield, and of course he would still rack up a decent chunk of yards on the ground. However, fantasy owners might be a little concerned given LeSean McCoy’s decline and unhappiness in Chip Kelly’s offense.

NFL | DeMarco Murray decision looming

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 18:12:08 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) is expected to make a decision Wednesday, March 11, as to where he will sign.

Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned, as his fantasy value obviously is dependent on where he plays in 2015.

Raiders | Oakland still pursuing DeMarco Murray

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 16:11:22 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) is still in the mix for the Oakland Raiders. The Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys are also in the running, and Murray has been in contact with the Eagles Wednesday, March 11.

Fantasy Tip: Murray would form a lethal backfield combination with Latavius Murray if he signed with the Raiders in free agency. However, Murray won't find as good of an offensive line waiting for him if he leaves Dallas. Still, Murray should remain in RB1 territory in 2015 no matter where he lands, although his injury history makes him a bit of a risk in the first round of fantasy drafts.

NFL | DeMarco Murray wants more money

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 15:56:03 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) is asking for $8 million-plus per year. The Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars have not been able to offer him that much. The Philadelphia Eagles are also in the mix for Murray.

Fantasy Tip: This doesn't necessarily mean that the Cowboys and Jaguars are out of the Murray sweepstakes yet. The Eagles seem to still be very much in the mix with other possible suitors in the waiting. No matter where Murray signs, it will be hard not to consider him an RB1.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray contacted by Sam Bradford

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 13:48:41 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) has been contacted by new Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford in hopes of Murray joining the Eagles. Bradford and Murray were teammates and even roommates at the University of Oklahoma.

Fantasy Tip: If Murray does join Philadelphia, he'll be splitting time with newly acquired RB Ryan Mathews and RB Darren Sproles in some capacity, though Murray would still be the Eagles running back to own. He's still a free agent, so keep tabs on his status throughout the next few days.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray interested in Philly

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 13:17:41 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) is interested in signing with the Philadelphia Eagles, and he called head coach Chip Kelly personally. Murray is familiar with the spread offense from college, and he was new Eagles QB Sam Bradford's roommate in college, too.

Fantasy Tip: It's becoming more and more likely that Murray won't return to the Dallas Cowboys and that fantastic offensive line. However, Murray still has plenty of appeal as an RB1 for fantasy owners in a different uni. However, after Philly just signed Ryan Mathews, it's unclear how the touches would shake out in a backfield that also features Darren Sproles. Stay tuned.

Eagles | Philly still pursuing DeMarco Murray

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 11:23:44 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) is still being pursued by the Philadelphia Eagles, even though they just signed RB Ryan Mathews.

Fantasy Tip: Assuming he can stay healthy, Murray should be considered a No. 1 running back wherever he lands. If he were to join the Eagles, he would be joining a backfield that is becoming crowded with Mathews and Darren Sproles, so there may be some risk involved from a fantasy football perspective.

Cowboys | Dallas not expecting DeMarco Murray back?

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 08:56:29 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) is almost not expected to re-sign with the Dallas Cowboys at this point, and the prospect of him signing with another team is very real. The Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars are in on Murray very hard.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was set in Dallas behind arguably the best offensive line in football. Still, he should remain a No. 1 fantasy running back wherever he goes, but he could be more of a risk, along with his injury history, in the first round of drafts.

Buccaneers | TB in on DeMarco Murray

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 04:40:00 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) has been looked at by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but a source indicated Buccaneers fans shouldn't get "overly excited" about Murray.

Fantasy Tip: It's not surprising the Buccaneers would pop in on Murray, as he is considered one of the top free agents left. Still, it appears as if the Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles are in deeper on the Murray sweepstakes. Murray is still a top RB to draft in leagues.

Raiders | Raiders still in on DeMarco Murray

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 22:09:42 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) is still a target for the Oakland Raiders despite the RB Roy Helu Jr. deal, a source said Tuesday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: Murray could be a game-changer for the Oakland offense, whereas Helu is simply a situational player and not a workhorse. Murray will be a Top 5 fantasy option at his position as long as he lands in a situation where he handles the lion’s share of the carries.

Jaguars | DeMarco Murray pursued by Jaguars

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 16:48:56 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) is being hotly pursued by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Murray has several suitors as he is the hottest running back commodity in free agency this year. Jacksonville wouldn't be the most ideal location for Murray's fantasy value, but he should still be considered an RB1 if he does join the Jaguars.

Raiders | Oakland pursuing DeMarco Murray

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 14:58:50 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) is being pursued by the Oakland Raiders, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Murray would likely take over the starting role in place of Latavius Murray, but wouldn't have as much value as he would in Dallas. He'll be running with a relatively mediocre supporting cast, bu should still be considered an RB1 if he does end up with Oakland.

Eagles | Philly eyeing DeMarco Murray

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 14:27:51 -0700

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) could land with the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency. QB Sam Bradford, who was traded to the Eagles Tuesday, March 10, ran the same offense as Murray in college.

Fantasy Tip: Murray had a breakout season in 2014, leading the NFL in rushing behind an exceptional Dallas offensive line. He still has injury concerns, but Murray should continue to be a first-round pick in fantasy football drafts, even if he leaves Dallas for the Eagles. Murray would likely still be extremely productive, assuming he's healthy, in Chip Kelly's offense.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray talking with Dallas

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 10:57:13 -0700

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray and his agent have at least spoken to the Cowboys after going a few weeks without talking, according to a source. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones and agent Bill Johnson spoke Monday, March 9. However, it's unclear how involved the discussions were on a contract after Jones said last week the team would make a "respectable" offer to Murray before free agency opens Tuesday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: Murray will be highly sought after in free agency after leading the NFL in rushing in 2014. He'll also continue to be a first-round fantasy football selection in 2015 drafts, regardless of whether he stays in Dallas. Remaining in Dallas behind a stellar offensive line would be the best situation for his fantasy value.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray hasn't talked to Cowboys

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 08:44:39 -0700

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray has not talked with the team since last week, according to a source. Murray has since deleted all references to the team in his Twitter bio. A source last week said Murray would likely return to Dallas despite being one of the most coveted running backs in free agency this year. Murray led the league in rushing with 1,845 yards on 392 carries and 13 touchdowns in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: Despite durability concerns, Murray will be a first-round fantasy football selection in 2015 after the monster season he had in 2014. His fantasy value will be the highest if he sticks with Dallas behind that impressive offensive line.

Cowboys | DAL may look at C.J. Spiller

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 00:02:37 -0800

Free-agent RB C.J. Spiller (Bills) may get interest from the Dallas Cowboys if RB DeMarco Murray leaves via free agency.

Fantasy Tip: The biggest worry for the Cowboys is Spiller's injury history. He had a better season in 2014, but Spiller is still a risky pick in most leagues due to his spotty playing time and his tendency to get hurt.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray likely to re-up in Dallas

Sat, 07 Mar 2015 13:15:11 -0800

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray appears likely to re-sign with the Dallas Cowboys, according to several league sources.

Fantasy Tip: Murray had a breakout season in 2014, and he'll command a high draft choice this year. It's probable he won't escape the top three picks in most drafts. He doesn't have a lengthy track record, so he'll be one of the early draft debates.

Cowboys | Soft market for DeMarco Murray?

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 22:57:29 -0800

The Dallas Cowboys believe impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray's success was due to the offense surrounding him and not just because of his skill set. The Cowboys also believe other teams feel that, too.

Fantasy Tip: There are several teams that would be interested in Murray, and regardless of his landing spot he will be a considered a Top 5 fantasy option at his position.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray prefers Dallas

Tue, 03 Mar 2015 10:32:38 -0800

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray would likely re-sign with the Cowboys if the offer they make him is equal or similar financially to offers he receives from other teams in free agency, according to league sources. Murray is expecting to have a "vigorous" free-agent market for his services. He made $1.4 million last year, which ranked 23rd among running backs, and he led the league with 1,845 rushing yards on 392 carries in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: Murray had an excellent 2014 season for his fantasy owners. Dallas had one of the top offensive lines in the league to help pave running lanes for him, too, so we can see why he'd favor remaining in Dallas. Regardless of where Murray lands this year, he's likely to remain an RB1 worth drafting in the first round, despite injury concerns.

Seahawks | DeMarco Murray an option for Seattle?

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 17:27:52 -0800

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray could be targeted by the Seattle Seahawks in free agency this offseason. Seattle could be in the market for a reliable running back if RB Marshawn Lynch opts to retire.

Fantasy Tip: Murray in Seattle is a scary possibility, but it remains an unlikely reality with Lynch expected to return in 2015. If this scenario does play out, though, Murray should once again be a top-tier RB1 worthy of drafting in the first round.

Jaguars | DeMarco Murray could land in Jacksonville

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 17:24:53 -0800

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray could be targeted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency this offseason. RB Toby Gerhart will fill a multitude or roles in 2015, and RB Denard Robinson is more suited for a complementary role in the backfield. The Jags have the most salary cap room in the NFL this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: A move to Jacksonville would probably be the least exciting place Murray could land in terms of fantasy value in 2015. Without a proven quarterback and shaky receiving options, opposing defenses would likely stack the box against Murray. He'd probably be more of a weak RB1, and he'll continue to carry an element of risk due to injuries.

Cardinals | Arizona an option for DeMarco Murray

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 17:22:08 -0800

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray could be targeted by the Arizona Cardinals in free agency this offseason. The Cardinals learned the hard way last year that RB Andre Ellington isn't the workhorse back they were hoping he'd be.

Fantasy Tip: Arizona would be an interesting landing spot for Murray. The Cardinals are a team in win-now mode, and he'd be an excellent addition to this offense. Murray will continue to be an RB1 with some injury risk wherever he lands in free agency.

Colts | Indy a suitor for DeMarco Murray?

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 17:20:39 -0800

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray could be targeted by the Indianapolis Colts in free agency this offseason. General manager Ryan Grigson has $40 million to spend, and the Colts are in need of a running back after the failures of RB Trent Richardson.

Fantasy Tip: After what Murray did for the Cowboys in 2014, you better believe he'll be a highly sought after commodity in free agency if he doesn't re-sign with Dallas. A move to Indy wouldn't change his value all that much, as he'd become their primary running back. Murray carries injury risk as an RB1, however.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray to hit FA market

Sun, 01 Mar 2015 11:33:19 -0800

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray probably will hit the free-agent market since contract talks with him have gone slow, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones. Jones said he believes Murray could re-sign even if he makes it to free agency.

Fantasy Tip: Murray probably will have several teams interested in him if he is available in free agency, but his fantasy value will depend on which team he signs with this offseason. He probably will still be a starting running back on fantasy teams no matter which team he joins.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray to give Dallas last word?

Sat, 28 Feb 2015 17:54:45 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray could give the team a chance to match any offer he receives during free agency, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones. "There is an expectation that he will get back to us before he signs with another club," Jones said. "There's a hope that he would. But that would be unfair to him and for other clubs to say he's going to bring something back."

Fantasy Tip: Murray's value in 2015 will depend on where he ends up signing. A return to Dallas would be an ideal scenario from a fantasy standpoint as he would once again be the workhorse back behind the team's talented offensive line.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray may have lighter workload

Sun, 22 Feb 2015 04:41:40 -0800

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Cowboys) may have a lighter workload if he is re-signed by the Dallas Cowboys for 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Murray carried the ball 392 times in 2014 so it is understandable the team would want to lighten his load, but this may be a case of easier said than done. Joseph Randle has faced legal troubles and Lance Dunbar is a free agent, so the team may not have a choice. As long as he stays healthy like this, Murray is a strong RB1 in all fantasy leagues.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray irreplaceable?

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 14:17:41 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray may be on his way out of Dallas if WR Dez Bryant is given the franchise tag. Head coach Jason Garrett said he doesn't like the idea of Murray simply being replaced by another running back, emphasizing Murray's importance to the Cowboys' offense. Both parties have three weeks to work something out before Murray can test the free-agent market.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was undoubtedly the best running back in 2014, both in fantasy football and real football. Obviously, we don't know exactly where his value is right now as he could be on a different team heading into next season. Keep tabs on his situation throughout the upcoming weeks.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray's rep. to meet with VP

Tue, 17 Feb 2015 11:19:01 -0800

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray's representative will meet with executive vice president Stephen Jones this week, possibly indicating that a long-term deal could be in the works. Jones also said the team could use the franchise tag on Murray.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was the best running back in real football and fake football in 2014, and it wasn't even close. He could obviously be on a different team next season, but if he stays he'll still be running behind one of the best offensive lines in football and will remain an RB1 heading into next season's drafts.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray mum on contract talks

Wed, 11 Feb 2015 10:44:31 -0800

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray will not say if there are ongoing negotiations between his agent and the Cowboys. He has also said he would be involved in talks with the Cowboys and other teams if he is not signed by the March 10 deadline.

Fantasy Tip: Murray led the league in rushing yards last year. The chances of him repeating that feat is slim, so he should be considered a midrange RB1 in 2015.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray not tipping his hand

Wed, 11 Feb 2015 09:28:41 -0800

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray isn't tipping his hand to what he plans to do in free agency. "Obviously I think they want me here," Murray said. "I want to be here. It's just finding the ... just what helps them, what helps me. Things like that. I think both sides want to be here, so I think we'll see where it goes." Murray hasn't indicated if he's had ongoing negotiations with the Cowboys since the season ended. However, he hasn't distanced himself from the team since the end of the season, and he spent time with head coach Jason Garrett and QB Tony Romo last week.

Fantasy Tip: It'll be tricky for Dallas to retain both Murray and Dez Bryant. If Murray leaves for another team this offseason, there's a good chance he'll still be worthy of RB1 status for the upcoming fantasy football season.

Cowboys | Pokes to decide on DeMarco Murray

Sun, 08 Feb 2015 17:11:04 -0800

The Dallas Cowboys have a tough choice to make with impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray. If the team uses the franchise tag on impending free-agent WR Dez Bryant, they cannot use it on Murray. And if they are able to work out a long-term deal with Bryant by March 2, the team would still need to decide in a one-year, $10.93 guaranteed deal for Murray is a wise choice since they have some tough salary cap decisions to make.

Fantasy Tip: Murray is coming off a career year, which is perfect timing for him. However, in recent years many teams have elected to go to a tandem running back situation driving down the annual salary for runners. Murray will get paid, by the Cowboys or elsewhere. His fantasy outlook is murky right now because it is unclear exactly where he'll be playing his football in 2015. However, whatever uniform he dons, he will still be a top fantasy choice at his position.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray getting support from QB

Fri, 23 Jan 2015 15:29:30 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray is getting support from QB Tony Romo to stay with the team long term. Romo said he is consistently talking to owner Jerry Jones about bringing him back in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Murray may be the odd man out if the team chooses to re-sign or franchise tag Dez Bryant this offseason. If Murray does indeed land somewhere else, his fantasy value could dip running behind a different offensive line.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray more than a rusher

Thu, 22 Jan 2015 18:22:23 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray was in pass protection on 52 more plays than any other running back on the roster in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: In addition to being the league's leading rusher, Murray was the team's most trusted back in pass protection. If he leaves as a free agent this offseason, the Cowboys, especially Tony Romo, could miss more than his running ability.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray could be cap casualty

Thu, 15 Jan 2015 19:15:15 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray will be tough sign to a long-term extension if WR Dez Bryant is also signed, team owner Jerry Jones said Thursday, Jan. 15. Jones called the prospect of signing both players "possible" but not "financially reasonable."

Fantasy Tip: Jones has already indicated that the team will use the franchise tag on Bryant if need be, which means Murray could be the odd man out if he isn't willing to take a little less to stay with Dallas. If Murray does land elsewhere, his fantasy value could dip a little without Dallas' stout offensive line paving the way.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray, team disagree on value

Tue, 13 Jan 2015 18:16:27 -0800

The Dallas Cowboys and impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray and disagree on his value. The team offered him a four-year deal worth slightly more than $16 million. He might test the open market, or the team could slap him with the franchise tag.

Fantasy Tip: Murray's long-term fantasy outlook is a bit murky. If he stays in Dallas, he has company in the backfield with Joseph Randle, but he would likely still be the top dog. Although, it is unlikely he'll see 497 touches again. However, if he tests the free agent waters and lands with another club, there are no guarantees he'll be the top tailback with little or no competition.
