Bengals | Andy Dalton tosses pair of TDs

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 20:30:31 -0800

Cleveland Browns QB Andy Dalton completed 23 of his 31 pass attempts for 332 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He also rushed twice for nine yards.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton fared pretty well against a good pass defense, especially considering he continues to operate the offense without his biggest weapon A.J. Green. He should continue his solid play in Week 14 against a poor Cleveland Browns pass defense, assuming weather isn't a factor.

Bengals | Andy Dalton has full practice

Thu, 17 Nov 2016 16:22:23 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 17.

Fantasy Tip: He was limited in practice on Wednesday, but all appears to be well for Cincinnati's Red Rifle. Dalton has enjoyed a solid season up to this point, though he hasn't really churned out many strong performances. In fact, he's topped over 300 passing yards just once since Week 2, while also having no games this season with more than two passing touchdowns. For that reason, he's mostly just a high-end QB2.

Bengals | Andy Dalton limited Wednesday

Wed, 16 Nov 2016 13:10:45 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 16, with a right shoulder injury.

Fantasy Tip: It's Dalton's throwing shoulder, so keep a closer eye on his status this week. The Buffalo Bills have been better than average against quarterbacks this year, so if there is a better option in one's lineup then that might be the more advisable route.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton is putting up plenty of yards, but he has yet to record a multi-touchdown game. He is a quality QB2 right now, but he could enjoy a nice boost in value if Tyler Eifert's return results in improved results in the red zone.

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 19:39:06 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (ankle) was hobbled and limping in the locker room after the Week 2 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to an ankle issue.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton has passed for exactly 366 yards with one TD pass in both Week 1 and Week 2, so he would be a huge loss for fantasy owners if he is forced to miss any time. Stay tuned.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed six of his 10 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in a 26-21 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday, Aug. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Turnover among his receiving corps and an injury to Tyler Eifert could hurt his numbers a bit, but Dalton should still be one of the better QB2 options and a potential starter against friendly matchups.

Bengals | Tyler Boyd making big strides

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 20:30:00 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd has improved dramatically from spring practices to training camp, according to his quarterback. "He's taken a huge jump from OTAs to camp, he's made some tough catches and has been impressive," QB Andy Dalton said Monday, Aug. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Boyd is expected to serve as the starter in the slot, and he is likely in line for plenty of playing time right off the bat. Look to Boyd as a nice late-round WR4/5 or flex play with some upside in most standard fantasy formats.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell has picked up the offense quickly, QB Andy Dalton said, and LaFell said he is ready to take advantage if defenses double team WR A.J. Green.

Bengals | Andy Dalton receives praise

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 15:50:15 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton has been better than advertised so far this offseason, according to WR Brandon LaFell. LaFell noted Dalton's ball placement, accuracy, quick release and command of the huddle as factors that have especially been impressive.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton has put together a nice career so far, but he still leaves something to be desire from a fantasy perspective, mainly more touchdowns. He's comfortably in QB2 territory heading into the 2016 season.

Bengals | A.J. Green ready to carry offense

Fri, 27 May 2016 20:35:39 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he knows that the offense is only going to go as far as he and QB Andy Dalton can take it in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Green has been one of the steadiest receivers since breaking into the league, and losing Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu in free agency should lead to even more looks for Green. He is a sure-fire WR1.

Bengals | Andy Dalton to boost Tyler Boyd's game?

Thu, 19 May 2016 19:16:45 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd said he believes playing with QB Andy Dalton will help him elevate his performance. "With him throwing me to open space, making me catch it away from defenders, making it a lot easier for me I feel like it'll just take my game to a whole other level than what I think it's already at," Boyd said. "It'll completely change me."

Fantasy Tip: Boyd will be asked to play a big role as a rookie, and he is a solid option to target in the final rounds of standard drafts. In rookie drafts, he is worth considering in the first round.

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 18:43:12 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton said he worked out with TCU WR Josh Doctson and believes Doctson will be successful for any team that drafts him.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals need a receiver after losing Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu this offseason, and if Doctson lands in Cincinnati, he would be worth a shot in the later rounds.

Bengals | Andy Dalton healthy

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 15:52:57 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) said he's fully healed from his thumb injury.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton has yet to duplicate his 2013 with 4,293 yards and 33 touchdowns. He's still an efficient passer, completing 66.1% of his passes last year, but does he still have untapped potential? He'll be in the low-end QB1 mix in fantasy.

Bengals | Andy Dalton throwing without restrictions

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 09:39:31 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) is throwing the ball again and has no restrictions with his thumb, and he has visited with passing specialist Tom House once already this offseason. Dalton isn't worried about the loss of WRs Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu in free agency this year.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton still has A.J. Green and Tyler Eifert as his top two receiving targets, so that's not too shabby. Brandon LaFell will likely become the No. 3 option. Expected to be fully healthy for Week 1, Dalton proved he is QB1 worthy in fantasy leagues, albeit at the lower end of the starting quarterback spectrum.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton will have a solid line in front of him and dangerous weapons to throw to again in 2016, and he should finish the year as a QB1.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals are taking their time with Dalton's injury, and they have all the time in the world. Unless he suffers some sort of setback, he should be fully healthy for the start of the 2016 season. Before his injury last year, he proved he can be a capable midrange QB1 for fantasy.

Bengals | Andy Dalton not throwing yet

Wed, 10 Feb 2016 14:40:57 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) said he is able to throw, but will hold off on doing so for a little bit longer. "Not throwing yet because we are being very conservative with it," Dalton said. "I feel like I can throw but no reason to push anything right now. I have plenty of time now to get 100%."

Fantasy Tip: It's a wise move by Dalton and the Bengals to take their time with Dalton's injury. He will more than likely be ready for offseason activities. As long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, consider him a QB1 for next season.

Bengals | Andy Dalton ready next week?

Sat, 09 Jan 2016 12:21:26 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton is not a guarantee to play next week if the Bengals win. Dalton has not thrown yet, and the Bengals won't know if he'll practice until Tuesday, Jan. 12, or Wednesday, Jan 13.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton's status won't matter if the Bengals can't beat the Pittsburgh Steelers tonight. AJ McCarron ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) will start, but he's not a great starting fantasy quarterback despite his relatively cheap price.

Bengals | Andy Dalton not at practice

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 14:46:22 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) is a long shot to play in the wild-card tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday. AJ McCarron ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) is in line for his fourth start and has a decent matchup against one of the weakest secondaries in the postseason. Consider McCarron as a sleeper play if you want to save some money at QB.

Bengals | Andy Dalton not practicing

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) is not taking part in practice Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) had the cast removed from his thumb Monday, but he's still unlikely to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on wild-card weekend. AJ McCarron ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) almost threw for 300 yards in a relief effort of Dalton last time against Pittsburgh, and he's a sleeper candidate against one of the weaker secondaries in the postseason.

Bengals | Andy Dalton makes brief appearance

Tue, 05 Jan 2016 20:50:35 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) was able to throw two passes in practice Tuesday, Jan. 5, but head coach Marvin Lewis said QB A.J. McCarron remains the team's starting quarterback heading into the AFC Wild-Card Game Saturday, Jan. 9, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) would be a risky FantasyScore play if he was able to return given his poor playoff performances in the fast, rust factor after a long layoff and a difficult opponent which knows him well. McCarron ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) has never started a playoff game, and he isn't a recommended option, either.

Bengals | Cincy planning to use AJ McCarron

Tue, 05 Jan 2016 09:09:57 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said Monday, Jan. 4, that the Bengals would prepare during the week as if QB AJ McCarron would start the wild card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday, Jan. 9, with QB Andy Dalton's (thumb) status up in the air. McCarron said he'll be more confident this weekend if he's forced to face the Steelers for the second time.

Fantasy Tip: McCarron has looked pretty good while replacing Dalton for three full games, and he's yet to throw an interception. The Steelers can be beat through the air, so if McCarron makes another start this weekend, he is a deep sleeper QB worth considering on FantasyScore.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) went through some conditioning drills on the side during practice Wednesday, Dec. 30, for the first time since his injury. He is still using a black cast around his right hand.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) is unlikely to play until the divisional round of the playoffs if the Bengals advance that far. He won't be a very attractive FantasyScore pick by then, either, since he's missed the last several weeks.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) could have his cast removed as early as Tuesday, Dec. 29. However, his bone isn't fully healed yet.

Fantasy Tip: Dalton ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) is unlikely to play this weekend and might not be ready until the divisional round of the playoffs. Until then, AJ McCarron should remain as the starter, but he's a shaky fantasy commodity with not much experience under his belt.

Bengals | Andy Dalton a few weeks away

Mon, 28 Dec 2015 17:11:08 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) is still a few weeks away from returning and likely would not be available if the team plays in a Wild Card playoff game. QB AJ McCarron will continue to be the starting quarterback until Dalton is able to play again.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor Dalton's situation over the next few weeks to see if Dalton will be able to play in the playoffs. McCarron ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) posted decent numbers in his first start last week and has three touchdowns and two interceptions in his last two games. He will be facing a tough Denver Broncos defense in Week 16 and is not a great fantasy option.
