Bills | Tyrod Taylor with solid game

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 05:08:44 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor was 18-for-30 (60%) for 297 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: This was a much better game than the 111 yards he threw for in Week 1. His line is aided by an 84-yard bomb he hit Marquise Goodwin on early in the game. Things won't get easier for them against the Arizona Cardinals next week. Taylor remains a QB2 in fantasy.

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 20:01:43 -0700

Bills | Tyrod Taylor does nothing in loss

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 21:48:58 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor completed 15 of his 22 pass attempts for 111 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens, and he added five rushes for just 11 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor was drafted as a borderline QB1/2 in most fantasy formats, but he killed his owners in the opener. Now, he gets a short week, but faces a New York Jets pass defense which was gouged for over 350 yards by Andy Dalton in Week 1. Taylor should be able to find a lot more room in Week 2.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor quiet in Week 1

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 13:17:24 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor went 15-for-22 for 111 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. He also rushed for 11 yards on five carries.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor was under pressure often against the Ravens and did not have much time to make plays. He will face the New York Jets in Week 2 and may be a risky option for owners because of the Jets have a solid defense.

Thu, 18 Aug 2016 21:30:18 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor will see more action against the New York Giants Saturday, Aug. 20, than he did in the first preseason game, according to head coach Rex Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor should be drafted as a midrange QB2, but he will have the occasional big game. He could be a sneaky DFS starter against the right opponents.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor contract update

Fri, 12 Aug 2016 16:00:51 -0700

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor is scheduled to make $9.5 million in 2016 then the team will have to decide if they pick up his option next offseason. Taylor would receive $27.5 million in 2017 and his contract extension would start if the team picks up the option.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor will have to play well in 2016 if he wants to remain with the Bills after this season. The Bills are expected to be more of a running team, but Taylor should have the chance to post solid numbers. Owners in most leagues should consider him as a No. 2 quarterback.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor lands big deal

Fri, 12 Aug 2016 10:13:56 -0700

Updating previous reports, Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor has agreed to terms on six-year, $90 million contract extension. The deal has unspecified team options and could be worth more through incentives.

Fantasy Tip: Yowzers ... we'll have to see how it breaks down, but that's a big deal for little proven production. Taylor remains a modest QB2 buy who has some upside for weekly matchup play.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor nearing long-term deal

Fri, 12 Aug 2016 10:12:18 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor should receive a multi-year deal soon, and sources say it will not be a stop-gap contract. Buffalo appears willing to go as long as six years in duration.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor emerged as a fine fantasy passer a year ago, but he has room to grow before becoming a regular starter for your fake roster.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor progressing in talks

Wed, 10 Aug 2016 11:16:36 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor is making solid progress in contract extension talks with the Bills, but the two sides still have to work on the back end of the contract. Taylor likely will make $35 million in the first two years if an agreement is reached.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor is coming off a solid season in 2015 and should be able to post similar numbers this season. He probably should be considered a No. 2 quarterbacks in a majority of fantasy leagues.

Bills | Optimism in Tyrod Taylor talks

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 06:03:16 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor continues to negotiate on a contract extension, and there's plenty of optimism that a deal is struck before the season opens.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor was one of the surprises out of the gates last season before he got nicked up. He completed 74.3% of his passes in the first three games with seven scores and an average of 238 passing yards per game. He didn't throw multiple touchdowns for nearly two months afterwards. That inconsistency keeps him in the QB2 range in fantasy.

Bills | Robert Woods could be replaced

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 18:34:25 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods had just two catches for more than 22 yards last year, and beat writer Jerry Sullivan believes QB Tyrod Taylor's love for the deep ball will lead to Woods being replaced as the No. 2 receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Woods' blocking ability will likely keep him on the field in Buffalo's run-heavy offense, but at best, he is a WR5. Don't be surprised if someone else emerges as the second-best fantasy receiver behind Sammy Watkins, but the depth chart is cloudy.

Bills | Sammy Watkins to stay in stride with QB

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 08:27:13 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) said he and QB Tyrod Taylor have something planned to make up for the lost time in training camp. "We're not going to go the whole time without doing anything," Watkins said. "We're going to get on the right page and make sure we stay there. It's really good that he's progressing, now I've got to progress with him."

Fantasy Tip: Watkins has had his share of injuries in his first two years, but you can't deny his talent and potential. He's a WR2 in fantasy with the tools for more.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor extension possible

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 23:52:31 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor could sign a contract extension before the season starts, according to sources. The two sides are talking relatively frequently, but nothing is considered imminent.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor came out of nowhere last season to make a big splash in the first few weeks of the season. He completed 63.7% of his passes for 3,035 yards, 20 touchdowns and only six interceptions. He also rushed for 568 yards and four scores in 14 games. He turns 27 next month and enters a "prove it" season, where he'll be a high-end QB2 in fantasy.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor not worried about contract

Mon, 11 Jul 2016 13:07:23 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor is entering the final year of his contract but said he is only focused on leading the team to wins in 2016. "The contract situation will play out. My mindset is to go out there and win games," Taylor said. "Do whatever it takes to win games, lead the guys, be the leader on the field, off the field and a commander. But I'm not necessarily focused on the contract. I can't control that. ... I've always been one that focuses on the things I can control, and that's going to be my preparation and how I go out there and play. I'll let everything else take care of itself."

Fantasy Tip: Taylor will be entering his second season as the Bills starting quarterback and will look to improve on the 3,035 passing yards and 20 touchdowns he recorded in 2016. The Bills probably will continue to be more of a running team, but Taylor should be considered a No. 2 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Bills | Robert Woods played with serious injury

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 13:38:09 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (groin) played with a torn groin on both the left and right side for about half the season last year. Woods said he feels great now, though, and he looked more quick and explosive this offseason, too. Additionally, wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal said Woods' route-running is better than he's ever seen.

Woods said that his chemistry with QB Tyrod Taylor has also improved due to first-team repetitions with each other, and after playing together some of last season.

Fantasy Tip: It's easy to get hyped about a player during the offseason, but expectations should still be tempered for Woods. He'll probably be the Bills' No. 2 wide receiver, but he shouldn't be drafted as more than a WR5.

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 15:50:12 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor and the Bills are both open to an in-season extension, according to a source. Talks have been ongoing through the offseason, but an extension is not expected before the season starts.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor has high expectations

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 22:08:56 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor feels he will restore a winning tradition in Buffalo, and he feels he can do exactly what Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton did last season. "I am 100 percent confident that I can do that. Cam played very well and willed his team. He took his team to the game that everyone who plays this game wants to get to. I commend him for that. We came in the same year so I definitely kept up with him. We became friends throughout our time in the league. Yes, I am 100 percent confident I can do the things that he did," Taylor said.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor has the potential to be a Top 10 quarterback at his position, but fantasy owners will want to draft him as a QB2 heading into the season.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor impresses with accuracy

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 23:25:05 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor was impressive with his accuracy in practice Tuesday, June 14, working the ball into the hands of his receivers with a very small window.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor came into his own last season and emerged as a useful fantasy option at times. With a healthy Sammy Watkins and a strong running game led by LeSean McCoy, Taylor could easily have Top 10 fantasy potential at his position sooner rather than later.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor in charge of offense

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 18:23:44 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor said he feels more in command of the offense this year and has earned the trust of his teammates with the preparation he puts in.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor is an appealing fantasy backup because of his dual-threat ability, but Buffalo's run-first offense will make it tough for him to be a reliable weekly starter.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor continues to impress

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 10:26:33 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor was sharp again in 15-17 mph winds in practice Wednesday, June 8, and he's been more comfortable going through his reads this offseason. Buffalo also ran some read options during organized team activities.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor had a breakout year with Buffalo in 2015 and is the unquestioned starter heading into this season. He has plenty of weapons to work with but could remain somewhat limited for fantasy purposes as a backup in this run-first system. But Taylor can also make things happen with his legs, which gives him low-end QB1 upside depending on matchups.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor sharp in red zone

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 19:02:50 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor was sharp in red zone drills Wednesday, June 1, hitting TE Chris Gragg for a pair of touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor was inconsistent last season, but he also flashed some upside. He should be a quality fantasy backup in 2016 and a potential starter against the right matchups in DFS play.

Sun, 22 May 2016 17:56:40 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor expects more out of the offense because he has a year of experience under his belt, and he wants to open up the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills were a run-first team last year, but Taylor showed the ability to make big plays with his arm and his legs. He should be a solid fantasy backup in 2016.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor wants healthy Sammy Watkins

Sat, 21 May 2016 20:29:47 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor said he is not worried about the injury to WR Sammy Watkins (foot) hurting their chemistry with each other. "We've been talking together and getting on the same page," Taylor said. "We want on the field work obviously, but we'll get that when the time comes. The main thing is that he gets healthy so he can play at the level that we know he's capable of playing at."

Fantasy Tip: As long as Watkins' recovery goes as planned, he should be a strong WR2 in 2016. Taylor should be a solid QB2, and he could be a sneaky starter in daily formats against the right matchups.

Bills | Buffalo wants to lock up Tyrod Taylor

Tue, 03 May 2016 19:57:22 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor is a player the team wants to lock up with a long-term deal, and general manager Doug Whaley said Tuesday, May 3, he is "supremely confident there's a chance" a deal will get done.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor posted 3,035 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, six interceptions while rushing for 568 yards and four more scores. The team apparently believes he is the future, as they declined a fifth-year option on EJ Manuel, a player they once spent a first-round pick to secure. Taylor has the makings of a QB2 in most fantasy leagues because of his dual-threat ability.

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 11:18:26 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor will not receive a contract extension in light of the Bills drafting QB Cardale Jones. QB EJ Manuel's option is unlikely to be picked up, too.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor will start as long as he's healthy after a career year last season, but the future of the position remains a mystery. As for 2016, Taylor remains a fringe QB1.

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor is the team's starter in 2016, and general manager Doug Whaley said the team wouldn't consider drafting a quarterback to compete with him in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor was impressive early last season. Can he recapture that magic, though? He's a solid backup in fantasy that could fill in on a bye week.

Bills | No trade offers for Tyrod Taylor

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 09:40:04 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor hasn't generated any trade offers leading up to the NFL Draft, according to general manager Doug Whaley.

Fantasy Tip: Whaley has already said that Taylor will start at quarterback even if Buffalo drafts another QB early. Taylor had a career year in 2015, throwing for 3,035 yards and 20 touchdowns and also running for another 568 yards and four scores. The Bills question Taylor's long-term sustainability, though, but he makes for a nice fantasy backup as long as he's starting.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor working on footwork

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 09:26:31 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor said he's working on cleaning up his footwork in the pocket this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor had a successful year in Buffalo in 2015, throwing for 3,035 yards and 20 touchdowns with just six interceptions. He also ran 104 times for 568 yards and added four more scores. Buffalo hasn't committed to Taylor long term, but he should be their QB again in 2016, and his ability to put up points with his legs sets him apart from other options as your fantasy backup.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor talks still need work

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 13:03:54 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor's contract extension talks still need some work, according to general manager Doug Whaley.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills may believe they have their quarterback of the future after Taylor's breakout 2015 campaign. He proved himself to be one of the better dual-threat signal-callers in the NFL last year, giving him added value in fantasy leagues, too. He's still not quite a starting caliber fantasy quarterback, but he's a high-end fantasy backup.

Bills | Buffalo working on Tyrod Taylor deal

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 14:27:24 -0800

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor's agent has been reached out to by the Bills regarding a new deal. The Bills said they would delve into a possible new deal more this week.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor is coming off a breakout season in which he produced and impressed enough to get the Bills to believe in him as their starting quarterback and possibly as their quarterback of the future. His dual-threat ability puts him on the fringe of starting quarterback status.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor hopes to remain in Buffalo

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 10:33:30 -0800

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor threw for 3,035 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns and six interceptions in his first season as a starter after spending four years as a little-used backup for the Baltimore Ravens. The first-time Pro Bowler, who added 568 yards and four more touchdowns as a runner, hopes 2015 was the first of many seasons in western New York. "Of course, I want to be the long-term guy. I love playing for the organization, I love playing for the coaches, I love being around the guys. Like I said, I want to be the long-term guy for them. Ultimately, that's up to them," Taylor said.

Fantasy Tip: Bills general manager Doug Whaley cast some doubt on Taylor's long-term future earlier this offseason by suggesting Buffalo wouldn't think twice about drafting a quarterback if the right one fell in its lap. As such, his long-term future is up in the air at the moment. Even if Whaley goes in that direction, the 26-year-old Taylor will be the overwhelming favorite to start for Buffalo again in 2016 and push to be a high-ceiling/low-end QB1 for fantasy purposes.

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor went 18-for-28 for 182 yards against the New York Jets in Week 17. He also rushed for 51 yards and one touchdown on 10 carries during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor played well for the majority of the season and appears to have a good chance to keep the starting job next season. Taylor will have more value because of his ability to run the ball and could be a No. 2 running back in most leagues.

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 11:40:34 -0800

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor (shoulder) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: The New York Jets will make it really tough on Taylor ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) in Week 17, and he'll be without LeSean McCoy and Charles Clay, too. The ceiling is very limited for Buffalo's passer in the season finale, and he's not a good daily or traditional option.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) should be able to play in Week 17 as long as he does not have a setback over the next few days. He has thrown nine touchdowns in the last five games but may not be the best option for owners since he is facing a tough New York Jets defense.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor could start next year

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 11:31:59 -0800

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor could be the Bills starting quarterback again next season. Head coach Rex Ryan said the Bills are pretty sure who their starting quarterback will be next year in reference to Taylor.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor has certainly exceeded expectations this season, and the Bills certainly don't have another quarterback on their current roster that deserves to start ahead of him. There's still plenty of time before next offseason, but it's Taylor's job to lose.

Bills | Lukewarm endorsement for Tyrod Taylor

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 18:37:40 -0800

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor was not endorsed as the long-term solution at quarterback by general manager Doug Whaley. "Let's put it this way," Whaley said. "He's shown us enough that we can obviously keep trying with him. But it won't preclude us from going out and protecting ourselves [in case] he's not."

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) has been hit and miss all season, and the team is 0-5 when he has thrown 30 or more passes. He has some upside at FantasyScore at his current price, but he is far from a sure thing against a Washington Redskins squad in Week 15 that has played well at home all season.

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 06:47:41 -0800

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor has reached a perk in his contract that voided the third year in 2017 due to a playing time threshold.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor could be in line for a contract extension in the offseason. For fantasy purposes, Taylor ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) has a midrange matchup against the Washington Redskins in Week 15. He'll be among the median of quarterbacks on FantasyScore.

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 18:16:35 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) has thrown three touchdowns in each of his last two games, and he is playing some of his best football heading into a very friendly matchup. Don't be afraid to take a chance on him at FantasyScore against the struggling Philadelphia secondary.

Bills | Probable tag for Tyrod Taylor

Fri, 04 Dec 2015 10:31:30 -0800

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor (shoulder) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 4, and is probable for Week 13 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor's ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) right shoulder shouldn't be a problem, but Houston's defense should cause him problems. The Texans have only been getting better on defense down the stretch, and this is a matchup that you definitely shouldn't feel comfortable using Taylor in.

Thu, 03 Dec 2015 11:54:04 -0800

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor (shoulder) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) should be fine to play in Week 13 against the Houston Texans. You'll want to stay away from him in daily formats, though. Behind J.J. Watt, the Texans are the worst statistical matchup for opposing quarterbacks in the last five weeks.

Bills | Limited practice for Tyrod Taylor

Wed, 02 Dec 2015 16:00:30 -0800

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't look like Taylor ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) is in jeopardy of missing this week's game unless he suffers a setback. He's one of the more versatile signal-callers in the league, but he's got a tough test in the Houston Texans this week. For Week 13, consider him a low-end QB2.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor throws three TDs

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 14:38:54 -0800

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor went 21-for-38 for 291 yards and three touchdowns in the team's Week 12 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He also rushed for 46 yards on five carries.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor has been playing well this season and has at least one passing touchdown in all but one of his starts this season. He will be facing the Houston Texans in the next game and could be a solid option in some leagues.
