Jets | Stevan Ridley placed on PUP list

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 15:17:27 -0700

New York Jets RB Stevan Ridley (knee) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear when Ridley will be available to practice, or if he'll even be ready for the start of the regular season. Chris Ivory was still expected to be the starter in the Jets' backfield. It's best to wait until later rounds to draft Ridley.

Jets | Chris Ivory leads backfield

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 07:35:43 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory is listed as the starting running back entering training camp, according to beat writer Rich Cimini's unofficial depth chart. RB Bilal Powell is the primary backup, and RB Zac Stacy is listed as the third running back. RB Stevan Ridley (knee) could figure in eventually, but he's expected to be limited at the start of camp.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory established himself in a muddy backfield that was expected to be led by Chris Johnson last year. Ivory has competition again this year, but he's a solid RB2 and takes a hit in PPR formats. Powell is a decent RB4 in PPR formats. It's hard to draft Stacy right now unless Powell and Ridley slip up.

Jets | Stevan Ridley could start on PUP

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 10:41:15 -0700

New York Jets RB Stevan Ridley (knee) may begin the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list as he continues to recover from knee surgery, according to Dom Cosentino of NJ.com. If Ridley is not ready for training camp, the odds of him being placed on the PUP to start the season increase.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets have a crowded backfield as it is, and Ridley is already losing ground on the competition. Chris Ivory will likely start, barring injury, and Ridley will also have Zac Stacy and Bilal Powell to fend off. Draft him as a RB4 in deeper leagues and a RB5 in normal leagues.

Jets | Stevan Ridley's camp status uncertain

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 06:39:24 -0700

New York Jets RB Stevan Ridley (knee) is not sure if he will be able to fully participate at the start of training camp. Ridley is he does not know if he will be 100% when camp starts and will not rush his rehab.

Fantasy Tip: Ridley's roster spot may be in jeopardy if he is not able to practice since the team has several other backs on the roster. Owners should monitor his recovery to see when he will be on the field. Ridley could be a late-round option in deeper leagues if he has a solid role in the offense.

Jets | Stevan Ridley confident

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 18:45:44 -0700

New York Jets RB Stevan Ridley (knee) said his plan is to be a contributor by Week 1. "I can't predict the future, but for me I've got to be ready for Week 1, and that's the goal," Ridley said. "When I do hit the field, I'm making an impact."

Fantasy Tip: Ridley should end up being the No. 2 back behind Chris Ivory at some point, but he is a RB4 at best unless Ivory were to be sidelined with an injury.

Jets | Stevan Ridley to be ready for training camp

Thu, 21 May 2015 14:30:29 -0700

New York Jets RB Stevan Ridley (knee) should be healthy enough for training camp as he continues to recover from knee surgery. Head coach Todd Bowles said Ridley is not ready for team drills, but participated in positional drills.

Fantasy Tip: Ridley is expected to be the No. 2 running back behind Chris Ivory once the season is underway. He'll be an important part of the Jets' running offense, and may steal some goal line carries, but isn't more than a low-end RB4.

Jets | Running back situation up in the air

Thu, 21 May 2015 11:51:04 -0700

New York Jets coach Todd Bowles said his team's running back situation may take until the preseason to sort out. RBs Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Zac Stacy, Stevan Ridley and Daryl Richardson all have experience at the position, but no one has broken out yet.

Fantasy Tip: Bowles said the team could keep as many as four backs, but it begs the question of which one to start. For now, this situation is too volatile, but be prepared to move one up your draft board if someone looks explosive in preseason games.

Jets | NYJ to run more in 2015?

Tue, 19 May 2015 11:14:45 -0700

New York Jets RBs Chris Ivory, Stevan Ridley, Zac Stacy and others could be busy this season, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles said the reason he hired offensive coordinator Chan Gailey is because he has a track record of being able to run the ball, at least in his college coaching days. Bowles supposedly prefers a balanced, ball-control offense, which puts more of the onus on the running backs.

Fantasy Tip: Again, Ivory should see the majority of work out the backfield, but this figures to be more of a committee approach with how deep the Jets are in the backfield. Ivory could end up in RB3 territory while the rest of the running backs currently shouldn't be seen as more than flex options.

Jets | Stevan Ridley to be limited in OTAs

Tue, 19 May 2015 10:25:54 -0700

New York Jets RB Stevan Ridley (knee) will be a limited participant in organized team activities, which begin Tuesday, May 19.

Fantasy Tip: Ridley will be a big part of the Jets' committee of running backs with Chris Ivory, Zac Stacy and Bilal Powell also in the fold. Ivory should technically be the starter, but this could turn into a crapshoot. Ivory has RB3 potential while Ridley should be targeted in the low-end RB4 to high-end RB5 range.
