Free-agent RB Stevan Ridley (Patriots) is drawing interest from the Minnesota Vikings.
Fantasy Tip: Three words: Adrian Peterson insurance. Ridley, who rushed for 340 yards last season before suffering a torn ACL, is being courted just in case Peterson doesn't return. A running back returning from a knee injury is a risky proposition, but Ridley could be in Minnesota's plans if Peterson doesn't return. Keep an eye on this.

New England Patriots impending free-agent RB Stevan Ridley (knee) could be a coup for a team willing to take a chance on his recovery from anterior cruciate ligament surgery this offseason. He's likely to receive an offer for a "prove-it" one-year deal around the $1.25 million range with incentives.
Fantasy Tip: The uncertain future for Ridley as it relates to both free agency and his recovery from ACL makes him a cloudy fantasy football asset entering the 2015 season. Depending on where Ridley lands, he could be worth a stab in the later rounds of standard fantasy drafts for running back depth.
Fri, 20 Feb 2015 15:49:40 -0800
New England Patriots impending free-agent RB Stevan Ridley (knee) is about four weeks ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Ridley hopes to be able to return to the field in May.
Fantasy Tip: It is not known who Ridley will play for next season, so his value will depend on his next team and his role. Ridley may not be able to find a starting job in free agency, but he should be able to find at least a backup job. Owners should consider Ridley as an option in the later rounds of drafts since he is coming back from the ACL injury.
Thu, 16 Oct 2014 14:06:27 -0700
The New England Patriots placed RB Stevan Ridley (knee) and LB Jerod Mayo (knee) on Reserve/Injured and promoted OG Chris Barker to the active roster Thursday, Oct. 16.
Mon, 13 Oct 2014 14:33:50 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) has a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a torn medial collateral ligament, according to a source. Ridley will miss the remainder of the season.
Fantasy Tip: Shane Vereen will be the main beneficiary of Ridley's misfortune, with Brandon Bolden and James White mixed in.
Mon, 13 Oct 2014 13:53:04 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) did not practice Monday, Oct. 13, and has been ruled out for Week 7. The team did not practice Monday, but was required to provide the status of injured players if they had practiced.
Fantasy Tip: Ridley is expected to miss a significant amount of time, possibly the rest of the season, with the knee injury. Shane Vereen, Brandon Bolden and James White should see increased value, with Vereen being the only fantasy relevant player of the trio, for now.
Sun, 12 Oct 2014 14:34:53 -0700
Updating a previous report, New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) will have an MRI Monday, Oct. 13, for the knee injury he suffered in Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills. The fear is that he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Sun, 12 Oct 2014 12:41:58 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) suffered a knee injury in the team's Week 6 game and will not return.
Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Ridley will miss any time because of the injury, so owners will need to monitor his situation. Shane Vereen likely would see more work if Ridley misses time, but James White would also receive a bigger role. White could be a waiver wire pickup this week if Ridley misses some games.
Fri, 10 Oct 2014 06:34:38 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley was praised by head coach Bill Belichick for his growth this season. Belichick also credited Ridley's ball security, vision and confidence.
Fantasy Tip: Ridley busted out for a 27-113-1 game last week and could have thrust himself into a position where he's the primary runner and Shane Vereen is the receiving back. Both backs should be involved, and it could be a game-by-game situation where one may be used more than the other. Ridley ($5,300; 10.6% of your cap) and Vereen ($6,300; 12.6%) are RB2 or flex options this week against Buffalo.
Mon, 29 Sep 2014 18:54:17 -0700
New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen was on the field for 17 offensive snaps in the first half of the Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs Monday, Sept. 29, with RB Stevan Ridley in for six snaps, and RB James White in for two. The team ran two plays with two running backs on the field simultaneously.
Fantasy Tip: Vereen's fantasy owners have to like the snap distribution, although Ridley actually leads the team in rushing with 15 yards on three totes, while Vereen has nine yards on four runs. Vereen also has 12 yards on three receptions while the other two have no catches. Vereen is the best fantasy option of the trio, but neither has done much of anything Monday.
Mon, 29 Sep 2014 18:06:23 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley was on the field for just one of his team's seven offensive snaps in the first quarter Monday, Sept. 29, in the Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Fantasy Tip: Shane Vereen was on the field for six of the seven snaps, and clearly is way ahead of Ridley on the depth chart. In fact, it's not even close. Fantasy owners need not pay Ridley any mind until he sees the field a little more frequently.
Mon, 08 Sep 2014 05:49:27 -0700
New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen rushed seven times for 36 yards and a touchdown Week 1. He also had five catches for 35 yards. He played in 71 percent of the snaps in Week 1. RB Stevan Ridley had eight rushes for 21 yards and two catches in Week 1 while playing in 26 percent of the snaps.
Fantasy Tip: Vereen should make a decent RB2, depending on his salary cap value, against the Vikings. Ridley's low snap count is concerning, but he had one more rushing attempt than Vereen. He is an option to consider for your flex position on FantasyScore.
Mon, 25 Aug 2014 06:54:38 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley may not make the team out of the preseason, according to beat writer Mike Reiss.
Fantasy Tip: Ridley would be a great late-round flier if he were to land with another team. He has quite a bit of talent but just hasn't figured it out yet.
Sat, 16 Aug 2014 08:36:05 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley lost a fumble during the second preseason game and did not return to the game. It is not known if the benching was due to the fumble.
Wed, 13 Aug 2014 23:00:47 -0700
New England Patriots RB James White saw a number of reps with the first-team offense in practice Wednesday, Aug. 13, with RB Stevan Ridley seeing most of his reps with the second-team offense. RB Shane Vereen also saw some reps with the top unit.
Fantasy Tip: White has reportedly impressed the coaching staff, and his presence could eat into the touches of Ridley if he continues to impress late in the preseason. The running back picture is shaping up as a three-headed monster (what else is new?) in New England. Ridley and Vereen are still the most promising as far as fantasy value is concerned, but White is emerging as a deep sleeper.
Wed, 11 Jun 2014 16:35:16 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley appears to be lighter and faster this offseason as he enters the final year of his rookie deal, according to NFL.com's Albert Breer. Ridley is expected to be the lead back in the team's backfield with RB LeGarrette Blount now with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Fantasy Tip: Ridley could return as a solid RB2 if he can hang onto the football. He's clearly more valuable in standard-scoring formats if he's able to regain the lead role and find the end zone frequently.
Wed, 11 Jun 2014 16:34:44 -0700
The New England Patriots haven't approached RB Stevan Ridley, who is in the final year of his rookie deal, about a long-term contract extension, according to NFL.com's Albert Breer.
Thu, 05 Jun 2014 14:10:43 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley is focused on playing mistake-free football and not his contract situation. Ridley is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
Fantasy Tip: Relying on Ridley as anything more than a low-end No. 2 fantasy running back isn't advised. The Patriots will ride the hot hand, and Ridley has fell out of favor with Bill Belichick in the past for a lack of ball protection.
Fri, 28 Mar 2014 16:23:51 -0700
New England Patriots RBs Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen and Brandon Bolden are entering the final years of their contracts.
Fri, 17 Jan 2014 16:28:11 -0800

Mon, 09 Dec 2013 09:28:23 -0800
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley was active and saw the field for 17 offensive snaps in the team's Week 14 game against the Cleveland Browns. He was used in a committee running back approach that included RBs Shane Vereen and LeGarrette Blount.
Fantasy Tip: Ridley was the third back up in the rotation because his ball-security issues have put him in the doghouse. It's good to see him back, but Vereen is clearly the most valuable runner in this backfield, especially in PPR leagues. Ridley is a risky start moving forward.
Sun, 08 Dec 2013 08:48:33 -0800
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley is active for the team's Week 14 game.
Fantasy Tip: Ridley is back after being inactive for last week's game. Ridley's participation is not known at this point, but owners would be taking a big risk if they used him in their starting lineup this week.
Sun, 08 Dec 2013 06:24:41 -0800
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (healthy) is expected to play in the team's Week 14 game. Ridley was a healthy inactive in the team's Week 14 game.
Sun, 01 Dec 2013 19:05:10 -0800
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley was a healthy scratch for the Week 13 game against the Houston Texans, and he is at a crossroads with the team. Beat writer Mike Reiss says if Ridley isn't active against a two-win Houston team, there is little reason to believe, outside of an injury to another player, that Ridley will be a major factor down the stretch and into the playoffs.
Sun, 01 Dec 2013 08:34:53 -0800
The New England Patriots have declared WR Aaron Dobson, CB Alfonzo Dennard, DL Jake Bequette, OT Marcus Cannon, TE Michael Hoomanawanui, RB Stevan Ridley, LB Steve Beauharnais inactive for Week 13.
Sun, 01 Dec 2013 08:30:49 -0800
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley has been declared inactive for the team's Week 13 game.
Fantasy Tip: Shane Vereen, Brandon Bolden and LeGarrette Blount will be handling the reps at running back with Ridley out. Vereen should still be started in all leagues. Bolden and Blount could be flex options for desperate owners.
Sun, 01 Dec 2013 07:14:25 -0800
If New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley is active in the team's Week 13 game, he is not expected to recieve much if any carries in the game.
Tue, 26 Nov 2013 09:43:52 -0800
New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels still has confidence in RB Stevan Ridley. "I have great confidence in Stevan [Ridley] as a runner ... at the same time, ball security is the most important factor," McDaniels said.
Sun, 24 Nov 2013 18:47:57 -0800
New England Patriots RBs Stevan Ridley and LeGarrette Blount each lost fumbles in the first half of the Week 12 game against the Denver Broncos, and they did not return to the field to finish up the first half.
Tue, 19 Nov 2013 06:05:11 -0800
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley only played on six snaps after his lost fumble in the second quarter in Week 11. RB LeGarrette Blount played on 19 snaps.
Mon, 18 Nov 2013 20:59:56 -0800
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley fumbled on the team's second drive in the Week 11 game against the Carolina Panthers Monday, Nov. 18. He was kept on the sideline for 18 snaps before he was finally sent back into the game.
Fantasy Tip: Ridley has plenty of talent, but if he cannot hang onto the ball, he won't see much of the field, especially with Shane Vereen back from the Injured Reserve/designated to return list.
Tue, 05 Nov 2013 09:55:00 -0800
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick did not bench RB Stevan Ridley after his fumble to open the second half in the team's Week 9 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers like he had earlier in the year. "I thought Stevan did a good job," Belichick said. "It was really a tremendous play by (Troy) Polamalu. He did a great job. Stevan caught the ball with his back to the defender. As he turned, Troy came in there and instead of making a tackle he was able to dislodge the ball. He anticipated Ridley turning up and Troy made a good play on it. I don't think Stevan really had much of a chance to do anything but turn. Sometimes turnovers are a result of real good defensive plays." Ridley ran for 60 more yards in the half and went over 100 yards rushing for the first time this year.
Fantasy Tip: Ridley has come on strong lately, and it's not a coincidence that it's happened with the returns of Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola. The return of Shane Vereen in Week 11 will complicate the backfield a bit, but i'll mainly hurt Brandon Bolden and not Ridley, as Ridley has rarely been involved in the passing attack.
Fri, 11 Oct 2013 16:41:53 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) is expected to play in the team's Week 6 game.
Fri, 11 Oct 2013 16:13:51 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 11, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.
Fantasy Tip: It appears like Ridley will be able to play after sitting out the team's Week 5 game. He should be considered a risky starter this week because of the injury.
Thu, 10 Oct 2013 15:41:43 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 10.
Wed, 09 Oct 2013 16:17:53 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Fantasy Tip: It's great news for Ridley owners that he's already practicing this week after sitting out in Week 5; he didn't practice at all last week. However, if he plays, he may be limited, and the Pats will likely continue to give Brandon Bolden and LeGarrette Blount touches. Ridley is probably a flex play, at best, against the New Orleans Saints.
Wed, 09 Oct 2013 15:58:34 -0700
New England Patriots RB Brandon Bolden (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Fantasy Tip: Bolden had only five carries against a tough Cincinnati Bengals front line last week, but he also chipped in six catches for 40 yards. He effectively has the third-down role locked up, regardless of whether Stevan Ridley (knee) returns this week. Bolden should be owned in most leagues as long-term Ridley insurance. His main value comes in point-per-reception universes.
Wed, 09 Oct 2013 07:43:19 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) practiced Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Sun, 06 Oct 2013 08:31:04 -0700
The New England Patriots have declared WR Austin Collie, OG Chris Barker, WR Matt Slater, TE Rob Gronkowski, RB Stevan Ridley, LB Steve Beauharnais, CB Tavon Wilson inactive for Week 5.
Fri, 04 Oct 2013 13:52:50 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) has been ruled out for Week 5.
Fantasy Tip: With Ridley out, LeGarrette Blount and Brandon Bolden likely will receive increased snaps on offense. Blount should be considered a No. 3 running back or a flex option in most leagues because he likely will get a majority of the carries. Bolden could be a flex option in deeper leagues if he plays.
Fri, 04 Oct 2013 07:28:53 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) is out of practice Friday, Oct. 4.
Fantasy Tip: He could still play in Week 5, but it's not looking good. LeGarrette Blount and Brandon Bolden should share the workload against the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend if Ridley doesn't play. Grab them off the waiver wire now, especially if you own Ridley.
Thu, 03 Oct 2013 07:37:59 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) is out of practice again Thursday, Oct. 3.
Wed, 02 Oct 2013 17:20:57 -0700

Wed, 02 Oct 2013 10:57:18 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (undisclosed) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Oct. 2.
Sun, 22 Sep 2013 21:48:51 -0700
New England Patriots RB Brandon Bolden (knee) made his regular season debut in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he played more than 25 snaps. He was used in a three-man rotation at tailback with RBs LeGarrette Blount and Stevan Ridley. Blount led the team with 65 yards on 14 carries, while Bolden exploded for 51 yards on three totes, while adding five receptions and 49 yards. Ridley did little, going for just 35 yards in 11 runs.
Fantasy Tip: The situation was difficult enough to figure out before Bolden's arrival, but now fantasy owners have three RBs to sift through on the New England depth chart.
Thu, 19 Sep 2013 14:25:53 -0700
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (shoulder), CB Alfonzo Dennard (ankle), WR Aaron Dobson (hamstring) and S Duron Harmon (hamstring) have been removed from the injury report this week.
Thu, 12 Sep 2013 15:51:19 -0700
New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola (groin) is expected to miss two to six weeks because of his groin injury.
Fantasy Tip: Amendola has dealt with injuries in the past, so this should not be a total surprise. Julian Edelman, Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson should become more involved in the passing, which will increase their fantasy value. The Patriots could also lean on their running game more with Stevan Ridley getting most of that work.
Thu, 12 Sep 2013 15:08:41 -0700
New England Patriots TE Zach Sudfeld (hamstring) is looking like he might be inactive for the team's Week 2 game against the New York Jets Thursday, Sept. 12.
Fantasy Tip: With Rob Gronkowski (forearm, back) also out Thursday, Michael Hoomanawanui would be the Pats' starting tight end if Sudfeld doesn't start. Hoomanawanui should be ignored, though. With Danny Amendola (groin) also out, expect the Patriots to give a heavy workload to Stevan Ridley.
Wed, 11 Sep 2013 15:34:35 -0700
New England Patriots RB Brandon Bolden (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept 11, and is questionable for Week 2.
Fantasy Tip: Bolden could be in line for some carries if he is healthy enough to go, especially if Stevan Ridley continues to put the ball on the ground. Check back on his status before game time.
