Broncos | Julius Thomas probable for Monday

Sat, 20 Dec 2014 12:15:58 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is probable for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($6,500) is a risky play this week versus a tough defense against tight ends. He hasn't scored since Week 10 and the Cincinnati Bengals have allowed just five touchdowns to the position through 14 games.

Broncos | Demaryius, Julius Thomas practice in full

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 13:21:57 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle) and TE Julius Thomas (ankle) both practiced in full for the second straight day Friday, Dec. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Both Thomases should be on the field Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. Demaryius Thomas ($8,100) is the safer play, even if the Broncos continue to run the ball more. Julius Thomas ($6,500) could be getting closer to 100 percent health, but he remains a bit of a risk until we see results on the field.

Broncos | Julius Thomas back to full health?

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 11:16:39 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) looks closer to 100 percent at practice Friday, Dec. 19, than he has at any time since suffering his left ankle injury against the St. Louis Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas' FantasyScore price has dropped since his injury, and he now costs just $6,500. It may be the time to take a chance on him again in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals if he's back to full health.

Broncos | Julius Thomas played limited snaps

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 15:47:51 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) played just 29 snaps in Week 15; only ten of them were pass routes, according to Pro Football Focus.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($6,500, 13%) hasn't scored since Week 10 and is somewhat of a liability on FantasyScore nowadays with the team's increased focus on the running game.

Broncos | Demaryius, Julius Thomas full participants

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 15:32:23 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle) and TE Julius Thomas (ankle) both practiced in full Thursday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Both Thomases' fantasy values have been hurting recently because of the Broncos' lack of passing lately. Julius Thomas ($6,500) has seen his FantasyScore salary drop due to injury, too. Starting Julius Thomas probably is still a bit of a risk, but it was nice to see him play more snaps in Week 15. Demaryius Thomas ($8,100) may be too expensive for our taste if the Broncos continue to favor the running game.

Broncos | Virgil Green continues to play

Tue, 16 Dec 2014 14:21:23 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green continued to lead the team's tight ends in snaps with 50 in Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers, even with TE Julius Thomas (ankle) back on the field. Thomas played just 29 snaps in his first game back from injury. OT Chris Clark also lined up as an extra tight end for seven snaps in the team's first two possessions. TE Dominique Jones played four snaps at tight end.

Fantasy Tip: Green's excellent run-blocking ability has led to his increased playing time, as well as Thomas' injury. Thomas ($6,500) should start to see more snaps as he gets closer to 100 percent health, though. Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals may not be the time to put full trust back in Thomas, though, as the Bengals have held tight ends to an average of just 3.48 fantasy points in the last four weeks.

Broncos | Julius Thomas to have full workload?

Fri, 12 Dec 2014 13:01:12 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) had a full practice Friday, Dec. 12, his first full workout since suffering a left ankle injury Nov. 16 in the loss to the St. Louis Rams. Thomas was active in Week 14 but didn't play a single snap, and he's probable for Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers. Unless he suffers a setback in pre-game workouts, Thomas is expected to play against the Chargers and have close to his usual workload.

Fantasy Tip: Surely a full workload will make those wondering whether to spend $6,500 on Thomas at FantasyScore more comfortable with that decision. However, it remains to be seen if that'll be the case. Until we know more, consider Thomas a pretty risky option for your tight end spot.

Broncos | Julius Thomas should play

Fri, 12 Dec 2014 11:12:53 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is listed as probable for Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas should be part of the offense after not receiving any offensive snaps in Week 14. Thomas will be facing a San Diego Chargers defense that has struggled against tight ends over the past two weeks. Thomas is an attractive option on FantasyScore if owners are willing to pay $6,500 for him.

Broncos | Julius Thomas remains limited

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 14:31:18 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) continued to practice on a limited basis Thursday, Dec. 11, but he said he has had "a much better week" than recent weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($6,500) remains a pretty risky commodity at FantasyScore, even though he was active last week. Thomas didn't play a single snap in Week 14, and he could be severely limited against the San Diego Chargers if he does play. Jacob Tamme is also banged up and isn't guaranteed to play in Week 15.

Broncos | Julius Thomas more comfortable

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 10:01:46 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) looked more comfortable running routes during the portion of practice open to the media Thursday, Dec. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas expects to play in the team's Week 15 game, but he is a risky option in FantasyScore, where he will cost $6,500 this week.

Broncos | Julius Thomas limited Wednesday

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 13:36:07 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($6,500) expects to play against the San Diego Chargers in Week 15. However, he remains a pretty risky FantasyScore selection after being active and not playing any snaps last week.

Broncos | Julius Thomas expects to play

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 13:03:42 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) expects to play in Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($6,500) was limited in practice Wednesday, so that's a good sign early in the week. However, he was active in Week 14 and didn't even get on the field, so you have to be worried about how much he'll actually play against the Chargers. Also, San Diego has held their own against tight ends this year, so it may be safer to hold off on Thomas for another week at FantasyScore.

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 10:50:22 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Thomas was active for the Week 14 but did not receive any snaps because of the injury. Owners will need to see what he is able to do during practice this week before deciding on their lineup. Thomas costs $6,500 on FantasyScore but is a risky option to use because of the injury.

Broncos | No snaps for Julius Thomas

Mon, 08 Dec 2014 07:19:58 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) did not play a single snap in Week 14, despite running a practice route in pregame warmups that convinced the coaches to activate him. However, head coach John Fox said Thomas could have played if needed. "He got a week better," said Fox. "He's healing. He was close. We went with having him active but not (with the) intention of playing him. If we needed him, he could have played."

Fantasy Tip: Thomas should be a better option on FantasyScore in Week 15.

Broncos | Julius Thomas active for Week 14

Sun, 07 Dec 2014 11:31:23 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is active for the team's Week 14 game.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is a risky option for owners on FantasyScore at $7,200, because he could be limited by his ankle injury and is facing a tough Buffalo Bills defense. Owners may want to consider using another option at tight end or will have to lower their expectations for Thomas this week.

Broncos | Julius Thomas questionable for Week 14

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 11:06:12 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas was able to practice this week and could have a chance to play this week but there is no guarantee. Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if he is playing. Thomas costs $7,200 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to consider using a healthier option at the position.

Broncos | Julius Thomas no guarantee to play

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 10:04:46 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is practicing again and moving around well Friday, Dec. 5, but there is no guarantee he plays in Week 14 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($7,200) is an extremely risky prospect for your FantasyScore lineups this weekend, especially with the Broncos playing an afternoon game. Jacob Tamme ($3,100) is nicked up, too, and he hasn't taken advantage of his opportunities with Thomas out, anyway.

Broncos | Julius Thomas limited

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 11:59:14 -0800

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas appears to have a good chance to play in Week 14 unless he suffers a setback. Thomas is a risky option to use on FantasyScore at $7,200 because of the injury, and he would be facing a Kansas City Chiefs defense that has played well against opposing tight ends.

Broncos | Julius Thomas on the field

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 10:22:19 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas appears to be on track to play this week, but owners should still monitor his status. Thomas has a price tag of $7,200 on FantasyScore but could be an injury risk since the injury could affect his play.

Wed, 03 Dec 2014 10:47:51 -0800

Fantasy Tip: If Thomas can play this week, he will cost $7,200 in FantasyScore. You should be careful before spending that much, because Thomas may not be at full strength. Check back later in the week to see how much work Thomas is able to get in at practice.

Broncos | Virgil Green key to running game

Tue, 02 Dec 2014 09:58:17 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Virgil Green has helped the team rush for 201 and 214 yards, respectively, in the last two games with TE Julius Thomas (ankle) out with an injury. Green has also been absent for all three of the team's losses this season because of injury. "A lot of people are saying I'm the magic potion, but it's all of us," Green said. "We decided to come to a resolve to do what we have to do to win games. If that means running the ball, then we have to do that. If it means passing, we'll do that. We're just trying to do what we can to win games." Thomas can be an effective backside blocker, but Green is better at the point of attack and at setting the edge. Thomas is expected to be eased back into his role when he returns from injury, but there is room for both of these tight ends in the offense moving forward.

Fantasy Tip: The running game has become paramount in Denver's offense now, making Green much more important. He's not an option for FantasyScore lineups, however. Thomas is clearly the better pass catcher and offensive weapon, but be careful of spending the $7,200 on him if he returns to face the Buffalo Bills this weekend, especially if the Broncos plan to ease Thomas back in in a rotation with Green.

Broncos | Julius Thomas close to return

Mon, 01 Dec 2014 14:37:37 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) said he is closing in on a return to action. He also stated that his current ankle injury is not similar in any way to the right ankle problem that slowed his first two seasons. "It's nothing like the last one," Thomas said. "No crutches, no boots, I've been able to move the whole time. It's just getting that strength back. No, I won't be flying out for surgery in a couple days." He did some core work with trainers before the Week 13 game and didn't play.

Fantasy Tip: It'll all come down to how much Thomas can accomplish in practice this week leading up to the game against the Buffalo Bills. The encouraging sign was that Thomas practiced for the first time last Friday. If Thomas plays, he'll face a stingy Bills defense against the position, so it might be hard to justify playing him immediately, especially at a high FantasyScore price.

Sun, 30 Nov 2014 10:28:47 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is considered a game-time decision for the team's Week 13 game, and team will take a cautious approach with him.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should check the inactive list to see if he is able to play, but they should have a backup plan ready in case he is not able to play. Jacob Tamme likely would receive the start and could be a cheap option at tight end on FantasyScore at $3,000.

Broncos | Julius Thomas limited at practice

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 09:51:39 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($7,200) could very well be another game-time decision for Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. You can't really afford to wait around at FantasyScore to make that kind of decision, especially since Thomas is a high-priced tight end.

Fantasy Tip: It does not look like Thomas will be able to play in Week 12 because of his ankle injury. Jacob Tamme likely will be the starting tight end and could be an option for owners on FantasyScore looking to save some money on the position since he only costs $3,000.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Thomas ($7,200) will be a game-time decision against the Dolphins this weekend. Avoiding him is the smart thing to do at FantasyScore. Jacob Tamme ($3,000), who has history with Peyton Manning, will see a sizeable increase in targets if Thomas sits.

Broncos | Julius Thomas could be game-time decision

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 10:25:05 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle), who appeared limited during practice Friday, Nov. 21, figures to be a game-time decision against the Miami Dolphins in Week 12. Thomas said his ankle is improving, though: "If I can go, I will go."

Fantasy Tip: With a high FantasyScore price of $7,200, it makes no sense to roll the dice on Thomas this week, especially since Denver plays in the afternoon Sunday. Jacob Tamme ($3,000) is worth a flier as a cheap tight end option if Thomas doesn't suit up.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas will probably be questionable for Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins, and it'll depend on how he responds and how much he practices during the week. If he sits out, Jacob Tamme will be a low-priced tight end flier at FantasyScore.

Broncos | Julius Thomas might not miss time

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 11:40:03 -0800

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas' (ankle) sprained ankle isn't considered serious at all, and he may not miss any time after being forced from the team's Week 11 game against the St. Louis Rams, according to a source with knowledge of Thomas' status.

Fantasy Tip: That's great news for a Denver offense that struggled without Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders (concussion) and Montee Ball (groin) against the Rams. If Thomas plays in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins, one would have to believe he's close to 100 percent healthy and is a solid FantasyScore weapon at tight end.

Broncos | Julius Thomas to see more targets?

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas may be getting more opportunities to catch the football, according to offensive coordinator Adam Gase. Gase said Thomas has been used more in protection schemes as of late but wants to maintain the tight end's status as an impact player.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas's production comes primarily in the end zone, where he has scored 10 times, although he is becoming dependent on those touchdowns. Still, it's promising that Gase says they still want Thomas to have an impact in what is arguably the league's best offense.
