Broncos | Julius Thomas does not practice

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 16:41:59 -0800

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 26, but did work with strength and conditioning coaches.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Thomas will be able to practice this week, so owners will need to monitor the situation. Jacob Tamme probably would receive another start if Thomas misses the game, but may not be the best option on FantasyScore.

Broncos | Julius Thomas limited at practice

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 09:51:39 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($7,200) could very well be another game-time decision for Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. You can't really afford to wait around at FantasyScore to make that kind of decision, especially since Thomas is a high-priced tight end.

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) will not play in Week 12.

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 11:39:21 -0800

Fantasy Tip: It does not look like Thomas will be able to play in Week 12 because of his ankle injury. Jacob Tamme likely will be the starting tight end and could be an option for owners on FantasyScore looking to save some money on the position since he only costs $3,000.

Broncos | Julius Thomas questionable

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 10:59:32 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins after putting in a limited practice Friday, Nov. 21.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Thomas ($7,200) will be a game-time decision against the Dolphins this weekend. Avoiding him is the smart thing to do at FantasyScore. Jacob Tamme ($3,000), who has history with Peyton Manning, will see a sizeable increase in targets if Thomas sits.

Broncos | Julius Thomas could be game-time decision

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 10:25:05 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle), who appeared limited during practice Friday, Nov. 21, figures to be a game-time decision against the Miami Dolphins in Week 12. Thomas said his ankle is improving, though: "If I can go, I will go."

Fantasy Tip: With a high FantasyScore price of $7,200, it makes no sense to roll the dice on Thomas this week, especially since Denver plays in the afternoon Sunday. Jacob Tamme ($3,000) is worth a flier as a cheap tight end option if Thomas doesn't suit up.

Fantasy Tip: It is not clear if Thomas will be able to play, and it may come right down to game time. Check back to see if he is active. If Thomas can't go, Jacob Tamme will probably start, but he is not a good option in FantasyScore.

Broncos | Julius Thomas sitting out

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 10:19:24 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is not participating in practice Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to continue to monitor the situation to see if Thomas has any chance to play in Week 12. Jacob Tamme probably will start if Thomas misses the game, but Tamme likely will not be a great option to use on FantasyScore even though he costs only $3,000.

Broncos | Julius Thomas not practicing

Wed, 19 Nov 2014 10:34:52 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Fantasy Tip: There is a chance that Thomas is not able to play, so owners should have a replacement ready in case he is inactive. Jacob Tamme likely would start if Thomas is not able to play. Tamme costs $3,000 on FantasyScore and could be a deep sleeper for owners looking to save some money.

Broncos | Julius Thomas not in walking boot

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 15:04:32 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is not in a walking boot, and he was able to put on a basketball shoe after suffering a sprained left ankle in Week 11. "I knew it was something that wasn't going to end my season," Thomas said. "I'm day to day."

Fantasy Tip: Thomas will probably be questionable for Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins, and it'll depend on how he responds and how much he practices during the week. If he sits out, Jacob Tamme will be a low-priced tight end flier at FantasyScore.

Broncos | Julius Thomas may miss Week 12

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 13:01:44 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) could miss the team's Week 12 game because of his ankle injury, but the injury is not as bad as initially feared, according to a source. Thomas underwent an MRI on the ankle Monday, Nov. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas' practice participation this week will give owners a good idea on if he will be able to play in Week 12. Jacob Tamme probably would start if Thomas misses the game, but he would not be a great starting option.

Broncos | Julius Thomas might not miss time

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 11:40:03 -0800

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas' (ankle) sprained ankle isn't considered serious at all, and he may not miss any time after being forced from the team's Week 11 game against the St. Louis Rams, according to a source with knowledge of Thomas' status.

Fantasy Tip: That's great news for a Denver offense that struggled without Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders (concussion) and Montee Ball (groin) against the Rams. If Thomas plays in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins, one would have to believe he's close to 100 percent healthy and is a solid FantasyScore weapon at tight end.

Broncos | Julius Thomas day-to-day

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 10:48:01 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is considered day-to-day after injuring his ankle in Week 11. The team does not appear overly concerned about the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to watch his practice participation this week to see if he has a chance to play in Week 12. Thomas should be in starting lineups if he is able to play. Jacob Tamme probably would start if Thomas is not able to play but would not be a strong fantasy option.

Sun, 16 Nov 2014 15:33:16 -0800

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) left the Week 11 game against the St. Louis Rams, and X-rays taken after the game were negative. He will go for further tests Monday, Nov. 17, including an MRI.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners will be paying close attention to this news, as he entered the week as the league leader with 12 touchdowns. There is hope his injury isn't terribly serious and he will be able to play in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins.

Sun, 16 Nov 2014 11:44:42 -0800

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) will not return to the team's Week 11 game because of an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: Owners probably will receive an update on his condition in the next day or two. Jacob Tamme could receive more playing time if Thomas is out for an extended period of time but may not be a great starting option.

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in Week 11 and is considered questionable to return.

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas had six receptions for 63 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Week 10 game against the Oakland Raiders. He was targeted seven times.

Broncos | Julius Thomas to see more targets?

Thu, 06 Nov 2014 16:00:03 -0800

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas may be getting more opportunities to catch the football, according to offensive coordinator Adam Gase. Gase said Thomas has been used more in protection schemes as of late but wants to maintain the tight end's status as an impact player.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas's production comes primarily in the end zone, where he has scored 10 times, although he is becoming dependent on those touchdowns. Still, it's promising that Gase says they still want Thomas to have an impact in what is arguably the league's best offense.

Broncos | No new deal for Julius Thomas soon

Thu, 23 Oct 2014 08:21:52 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas is not expected to have contract extension talks with the team during the season. Thomas will be a free agent this offseason, and the two sides are expected to talk after the season.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has a big role in the passing game and already has nine touchdowns on the season. Thomas has a price of $7,100 on FantasyScore but is worth the money if an owner is willing to spend it.

Broncos | Julius Thomas works with Tony Gonzalez

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 19:38:04 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas received several tips from Tony Gonzalez this offseason. "I wasn't going to rest on what I did last year," Thomas said. "I was really determined to come in and keep working and try to find every way I could to get better."

Fantasy Tip: With nine touchdowns through five games, it looks like Gonzalez's advice has paid dividends. Having Payton Manning throwing him the ball probably has something to do with Thomas' success, as well. Either way, Thomas has been the best tight end in the game this year, and if you are going to pay for a premium player at the position, he is the guy to target. He will take up 14.2% of the cap ($7,100) at FantasyScore in Week 7, and he could have a big game against a San Diego defense that allowed four touchdowns passes to rookie Derek Carr last weekend.

Broncos | Julius Thomas has big night

Sun, 07 Sep 2014 20:39:02 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas opened the 2014 regular season with seven receptions, 104 yards and three touchdowns (3, 35, 5) in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas was a top fantasy option heading into the season, and a top-tier option at FantasyScore. Unfortunately, this giant performance will provide make his FantasyScore salary skyrocket in Week 2, and he won't be a great value unless he can keep up this production regularly. And that is rather unrealistic.

Broncos | Elway: Julius Thomas not at Jimmy Graham level

Thu, 17 Jul 2014 09:29:08 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas is a priority for the team to sign to a long-term deal, but general manager John Elway isn't willing to pay him close to what New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham received. Elway said the team hasn't received a response from Thomas' representation after the team's initial offer. "Even though Julius had a tremendous year for us, he's only (played) 23 games. We want Julius to be a Bronco for a long time and we think he has tremendous upside, but he's not at that level," Elway said.

Broncos | Julius Thomas adding versatility

Wed, 02 Jul 2014 06:40:01 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas said the team will use him a lot more creatively this season. He also said he's focused on refining his technique and improving his role in pass and run blocking. "What I think people will see different in me (this year) is that they will use me a lot more creatively," Thomas said. "I think there are a lot of things that our offense wanted to do with me, but you can only learn so much in one year. No matter how much time you have at practice, it never seems to be enough when you're learning and trying to come into your own."

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is in a contract year and seems to have more of a grip on the playbook and more confidence. He has given every indication of a solid TE1.

Broncos | Julius Thomas working on blocking

Mon, 30 Jun 2014 14:03:00 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas is working on his footwork and balance, in an effort to improve his blocking. Thomas stands to see additional playing time (potentially 75 more snaps over the season) if he shores up his blocking.

Fantasy Tip: Any additional playing time Thomas can earn is good for fantasy owners. He will be costly on draft day, but is a TE1 with room to build on his 2013 numbers now that Eric Decker is gone.

Broncos | Julius Thomas monitoring Jimmy Graham situation

Sat, 21 Jun 2014 06:15:54 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas is monitoring the arbitration case between New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham and his team to determine his position. "I've kind of been keeping ... an eye on that situation, obviously, because it could probably come back to affect a lot of us tight ends," said Thomas, who is scheduled to make $645,000 this year. "But the way I feel about it is, 'Does two letters next to your name on the depth chart really determine your value to a team?'"

Broncos | Julius Thomas still learning

Tue, 17 Jun 2014 10:44:40 -0700

Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas admits he was very unsure of himself in the offense last season, and he's just now starting to pick things up. "Last year, I was able to do a lot of good things. I kind of survived on self confidence and athleticism. In one game, the defense did something, and Peyton was like, 'Julius, did you see that?' And I said, 'Peyton, they got me; I had no clue what they were doing.' There are still situations I haven't been in before, and I'm still learning what to do," Thomas said. Tight ends coach Clancy Barone said Thomas is a gym rat in terms of his study habits and has high intelligence and maturity.

Fantasy Tip: It's an encouraging sign for Thomas that he put up such a big season with limited knowledge of what he was doing on the field at times. The sky is the limit for him in 2014, and he'll be one of the first few tight ends off the board with Peyton Manning still at the helm in Denver.
