Dolphins | Jordan Cameron waiting until after season

Tue, 29 Nov 2016 16:51:07 -0800

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron (concussion) said he is "going to wait until after the season" to decide on whether or not he will continue playing in the NFL. Cameron suffered the fourth concussion of his career earlier this year and was placed on season-ending injury reserve Nov. 5.

Fantasy Tip: At one point in the beginning of his career, Cameron looked like he had a very bright future ahead of him as one of the best tight ends in football. He exhibited plenty of glimpses of that in his best season back in 2013, when he hauled in 80 catches for 917 yards and seven touchdowns. Unfortunately, though, he's been plagued by concussions since and has never gotten it going with the Dolphins as a result. Hopefully he's able to get back on track in 2017, if he decides to resume playing. In the meantime, Dion Sims has filled in for the Phins.

Sat, 05 Nov 2016 10:41:42 -0700

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron (concussion) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron has been out since Sept. 25 after suffering his fourth concussion in as many years. There are reports surfacing he is willing to contemplate retirement, so it is possible he may not take another snap in the NFL. With his contract expiring after the season, it is almost certain he will not return to Miami. MarQueis Gray and Dominique Jones will continue to get the tight end snaps while the team awaits the return of Dion Sims (concussion), who will miss his third consecutive game in Week 9.

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 14:44:00 -0700

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron (concussion) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 6. The Dolphins did not practice; Cameron's status is an estimation of how active he would have been if Miami did practice.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron appears headed for a doubtful designation this weekend. If he is indeed doubtful then Dion Sims would get the start in a favorable matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Dolphins | Jordan Cameron encouraged to stay

Tue, 16 Aug 2016 19:42:44 -0700

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron took a pay cut to stay with the team, partly due to the advice of Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas. The former Denver Broncos tight end told Cameron he would like head coach Adam Gase's system. Cameron said "one of my good friends, Julius Thomas, who played for (Adam Gase), said, 'You've got to play for this guy.' He does a good job of putting (tight ends) in spots to succeed."

Fantasy Tip: Cameron has reportedly been struggling during training camp and the preseason, but there is still plenty of time before the games count for real. He is a nice sleeper candidate heading into the 2016 regular season. He was a Top 5 fantasy option a few years ago in Cleveland, but has struggled since landing in Miami.

Tue, 16 Aug 2016 10:23:15 -0700

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron is going through "growing pains" and has a lot on his plate, according to Dolphins head coach Adam Gase.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron had some sleeper intrigue, but struggling with the offense this close to the season isn't what fantasy owners what to hear. He remains a TE2 target but has less shimmer than before.

Sat, 04 Jun 2016 05:16:09 -0700

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron said he is excited to play for head coach Adam Gase because he has had success with tight ends in the past.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron had a down year in 2015 with 386 yards and three touchdowns but should have a bigger role in the passing game. He could be a solid No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Dolphins | Jordan Cameron to be used smarter

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 14:20:28 -0700

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron struggled in 2015 because the previous coaching staff did not use him to his strengths, according to a team official. The official believes things will change under the new coaching staff.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron finished 2015 with 386 yards and three touchdowns but may see a bigger role under head coach Adam Gase. Gase had success with Julius Thomas when they were together in Denver, which should help Cameron. Cameron and Thomas are both downfield threats that have good hands and can catch the ball in traffic. Owners should consider Cameron as a No. 2 tight end at this point, but he has a chance to become a starter.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron has a big salary cap figure for 2016, so he would likely will have to change his contract if he wants to stay with the Dolphins. He recorded 386 yards and three touchdowns in 2015 and would not be more than a No. 2 tight end if he stays with the Dolphins.

Dolphins | Jordan Cameron still a fit in Miami

Wed, 24 Feb 2016 18:31:13 -0800

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron is in the team's plans for 2016, according to new head coach Adam Gase. He is scheduled to cost $9.5 million against the salary cap. "Obviously, the tight end position is something we've made a living on in this offense over the past three years, so both those guys (Cameron and Dion Sims), I really see a great fit as far as what we do," Gase said.

Fantasy Tip: Gase has watched Julius Thomas, Martellus Bennett and even Zach Miller perform well in his offense over the last three seasons. Cameron had only 35 catches in his first season as a Dolphin and Miami can save $7.5 million against the cap by cutting him, so he's not guaranteed a spot. Staying healthy has always been a primary concern for Cameron, who could return to TE1 status under Gase if he remains a Dolphin and can avoid injury in 2016.

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron may be asked to take a pay cut in 2016. Cameron has a $7.5 million salary with a $9.5 million salary cap hit next season.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron had a down year, but he's capable of rebounding as a low-end TE1 in 2016.

Dolphins | Jordan Cameron likely will be cut

Sat, 02 Jan 2016 07:23:39 -0800

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron probably will be released this offseason because he is scheduled to make $7.5 million in 2016, but there is a chance the team tries to re-sign him at a lower price.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has been limited to 380 receiving yards and two touchdowns this season and probably will not have a big role in the passing game against the New England Patriots in Week 17. Owners should be able to find better options to use at tight end.

Dolphins | Jordan Cameron nearly invisible

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 20:29:42 -0800

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron posted just one grab for five yards in the Week 15 game against the San Diego Chargers on his only target of the game.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron has fallen off the fantasy map over the past couple of games, and he never lived up to expectations after signing in Miami during the offseason. He was a Pro Bowler in Cleveland a few years ago, but those days appear to be well in the rear-view mirror after a myriad of injuries appear to have sapped his strength and speed.

Mon, 14 Dec 2015 22:26:33 -0800

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron had three receptions for 35 yards in the Week 14 game against the New York Giants. He was targeted four times.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron has been a disappointment for the Dolphins and fantasy owners, failing to re-gain his Pro Bowl form from a few years back. He can mostly be avoided by fantasy owners heading into Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers.

Dolphins | Jordan Cameron draws tough matchup

Fri, 27 Nov 2015 21:32:17 -0800

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron faces the New York Jets in Week 12, and Cameron finished with two catches for 19 yards on nine targets in a Week 4 meeting with the Jets.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets have allowed just two scores to tight ends all year, so Cameron's ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) disappointing first season in Miami seems likely to continue. You can find a much better option for the price at FantasyScore.

Fri, 13 Nov 2015 11:10:43 -0800

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron (hamstring) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 13, and is probable for Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) faces a Philadelphia Eagles team that has been strong against opposing TEs the last five weeks. Cameron has struggled of late, and he's not a sound choice on FantasyScore.
