Tigers | J.D. Martinez talks reworked swing models

Wed, 15 Jul 2015 15:07:12 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF J.D. Martinez said he reworked his swing and modeled it after teammate 1B Miguel Cabrera, Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols. "It's about the approach," he said. "I think a lot of these guys, they're so good and so natural that they just do it. It's almost like when you talk mechanics with them, it's a little bit foreign to them. They're so natural, like Miggy."

Fantasy Tip: Martinez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has been the best hitter in baseball over the past 30 days, as he has 25 runs, 15 home runs, 32 RBI and a .356/.407/.827 slash line over his past 26 games. Martinez has emerged as a top-tier outfielder, but he is likely not viewed as such. Test the waters in seasonal leagues, and continue to ride his hot streak at FantasyScore.

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 12:59:25 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF J.D. Martinez is out of the lineup Tuesday, June 23, in favor of OF Rajai Davis.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is leading off but has a tough matchup against Danny Salazar. Davis is 4-for-10 lifetime against him, but his value is too contingent on steals to trust on FantasyScore.
