Detroit Tigers OF J.D. Martinez went 3-for-6 with a double, homer, two runs scored and two RBIs Tuesday, June 30, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also struck out three times.

Fantasy Tip: Martinez ($5,200; or 10.4% of cap) wrapped up the month of June with 11 home runs. He has been a huge FantasyScore option for an extended period, and he still comes with a nice price.

Tigers | J.D. Martinez not slowing down

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 16:35:07 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF J.D. Martinez hit a two-run home run, his 18th of the season, in a losing effort Thursday, June 25, and he now has five home runs and 10 RBI in his last four games. Martinez finished the day 1-for-5 with a run scored, two RBI and two strikeouts. His season average sits at .270.

Fantasy Tip: Martinez ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has already proven that his 2014 season was not a fluke, and he's a much more mechanically sound hitter than he was earlier in his career. He's excelling against right-handed pitching this year, too, with a .288/.333/.577 slash line against them and 16 of his 18 home runs.

Tigers | J.D. Martinez out Tuesday

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 12:59:25 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF J.D. Martinez is out of the lineup Tuesday, June 23, in favor of OF Rajai Davis.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is leading off but has a tough matchup against Danny Salazar. Davis is 4-for-10 lifetime against him, but his value is too contingent on steals to trust on FantasyScore.

Tigers | J.D. Martinez back in lineup

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 10:51:43 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF J.D. Martinez is back in the starting lineup against the Cleveland Indians Saturday, June 13, batting fifth and playing right field.

Fantasy Tip: Manager Brad Ausmus wanted to give Martinez ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) a second consecutive day of rest following the team's off day Thursday, June 11, which explained his absence from Friday's lineup. He is batting .258 with 10 homers and 27 RBIs and makes a solid mid-range OF option in FantasyScore.

Tigers | J.D. Martinez out of the lineup vs. Tribe

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 13:19:23 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF J.D. Martinez is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 12. OF Tyler Collins is playing right field and batting fifth against Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Martinez ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is 1-for-9 with seven strikeouts against Salazar, so that is a logical explanation for Collins ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) starting in his place Friday. Salazar is a tough matchup, so FantasyScore players should view Collins as a risky option, even though he has a solid .897 OPS over 43 plate appearances this season. Expect Martinez back in the lineup Saturday, June 13, and he remains a solid option in all formats. He has 32 runs, 10 home runs, 27 RBI and a .258/.317/.444 slash line. Don't rule out better results going forward for Martinez, either.

Fantasy Tip: Martinez has been called day to day by the club. Rajai Davis ($3,000; or 6.0% of cap) took over for Martinez and would likely be a FantasyScore mid-level steal if he gets a start.
